Instead of swimming through the water, the griffin spread his wings and flew just over the water's surface, the black fur of his tail just barely skimming it. He felt a lot better now that he was helping someone who needed his help.
Ruque almost slipped as they approached the water but then he stopped in his tracks and stared fearfully at the two strange creatures who were slipping further away from him.
"Wait!" he cried, more fearfully than he had intended. He stretched one arm after them as if reaching for them. "I can't swim!"
And his fear returned then full-force. His breath suddenly came in short bursts and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He looked around, eyes wild with terror, and he sat down, tears welling up in his eyes. Was he going to be left alone again, more lost than ever?

The dragon heard the boy's cry and she stopped. She turned and start swim back to him. She chirped and cooed at him trying to calm his crying. She slowly crawled up into his lap. She looked up at him her hands spread on his stomach. She did not know why he was so sad.
He was making her want to cry. She whimpered softly and nuzzled him again.

The griffin swooped down to hover next to the other two, his expression tender as he watched them. Perhaps he and his companion should stay with the boy ... he seemed as though he needed more than just directions, he needed someone to take care of him, comfort him ...
Ruque felt a little nervous as the little dragon crawled up into his lap, but when she nuzzled him he put his arms around her and hugged her tightly as if she were the toy dragon he had left at home. And she was about the same size as it, too: it took no stretch of the imagination to pretend that she was his that he could turn to for comfort.
"Can- can we go around the water?" he asked her, his eyes wide and misty, his voice trembling. "I ... I can't swim ... but I don't want to be all by myself!"
And his chin began to tremble again, showing how close he was to tears. He didn't want his strange and silent companions to leave him, even though he had just found them!

Feeling her wind being squeezed out of her. She gasped softly and gave a slight pained whimper. She tired to wriggle out a bit her crest falling off as she fell naked to the ground.
She nodded her head and burbled and started to wander around the water. Giving her gryphon friend a chirp to have him look up at in the sky and make sure she would lead the right way.

Ruque let go of the little dragon girl as soon as he heard her whimper, more afraid of hurting her than he was of the water. His eyes grew wide as her tabard slipped off, and he averted his eyes self-consciously, his face turning a bright shade of red.
"Um ..." He coughed softly, picking up the fallen clothes and holding them out to her. "You ... um ... dropped this ..."
The griffin blinked at the boy, then looked at his dragon companion. Why was the boy acting so strangely? It was just a piece of clothing ... no need to be ashamed or embarrassed ... After all, he himself didn't feel the need to look away when his companion was clothesless, nor would he expect her to act so strangely if he did not have his own tabard on.
She wanted him to fly above them and make sure they were heading in the right direction ... yes, he could do that. He chirped back to her to tell her that he agreed, and took to the air once more.

The dragon turned and looked at Ruque her head tilting she sat down in a manner that showed the elf every bit of her young body. She did not know what was wrong. She clicked softly and wondered what was wrong. She walked over to him and nuzzled his hand that was out stretched.
Maybe he was scared. She took his fingers and started trying to lead him toward the edge again.

Ruque's face turned even redder and he lowered his eyes so far that he could see nothing but his own shirt.
"Here," he mumbled embarrassedly, holding her crest out to her again. "You dropped this ... don't you need to wear it?"
The griffin watched what was going on from the air. Yes, he was certain now ... the boy wanted the dragon girl to wear the symbol of her servitude. He flew down and plucked the tabard from the boy's grasp, then held it out to the dragon girl, chirping and clicking his beak at her.

She tilted her head and chirped back. Maybe this boy was from their castle if he wished her to wear her marker. She sighed and took the tabard and slipped it over her head, popping her wings threw the slits.
She looked down at it the dragon that was split and sighed. She was only half a dragon. Apart from being a regular warrior she was not a complete dragon like some of the others...she was breed to be able to control them and talk to them...as well as be in the army and serve her master.
She was starting to remember what it was she was for and she looked up sadly at her gryphon friend then nods and holds her hand out for the 'human' and clicked she would make sure he did not fall behind this time and no water would touch him.

Once the dragon girl had her clothes on again, Ruque raised his eyes to watch her once more. She seemed sad for some reason ... had he done something to make her feel bad?
He reached for her proffered hand and smiled bravely, though it was mostly a front.
"Thank you," he murmured, sensing her meaning from the sound of her click. And with that, he followed after her through the swamp.
The griffin boy led the way from up in the treetops, flying between the trees and hopping along branches, going high above the trees every now and again to make sure that they were still heading in the right general direction. It was so easy for them to go in circles, what with having to go around so many obstacles (the water being the biggest one), but slowly but surely they made their way towards the outskirts of the swamp, where the ground was soft but the muck was not as bad.
Finally, when they reached it, the griffin flew down to join the others on the ground, ruffling his feathers and folding his wings, his tail flicking back and forth curiously.
Now what?

The young dragon walked like a human slowly though the more she walked on two legs the more her body started to sway with a more feminine manner. She watched the gryphon every now and then she would watch the tabard flap up. Her eyes glinted with a strange feeling. She knew somehow they would have to find away to make more of their kind. It was needed to guard their master or at the least a broken castle.
When the got to the edge or at least where it could be seen she dropped her hand and sat down. She watched the older male and looked up at him a dirty little girl.

Ruque was filled with relief when they reached the edge of the swamp, but his job still wasn't done. He still needed to find the herb his mother had sent him to find ...
"I'm sorry," he said softly to the little dragon girl, his eyes apologetic as he turned to her. "I still need your help ... I'm looking for a plant ..."
He described it to her, using his hands to show the size, and then asked her if she might know where to find it.
"It's supposed to be on the edge of the swamp," he blushed, "but I don't ... see any ..."
The little griffin's golden eyes lit up slightly at the question, and he stood next to his dragon companion and nipped at the neck of her tabard. They could help him - they should help him. He clicked his beak at her and nodded. Perhaps they could continue to help him out as well, even after they found his plant!

The dragon listened looking up at Ruque sweetly. When the gryphon nipped at her she chirped at him and nipped at his beak and then nods. She agreed with him. Yes they should help him and see if he would allow them to stay and protect him. She dropped too all fours clicking that the gryphon should go left and she would go right and look for them.
She started to look around sniffing and rooting around.

The griffin rose once more into the air, searching the plants of the ground with his sharp vision. There were many different plants growing everywhere - he hadn't realized just how many there were - and it would prove to be a long and hard task, searching for the desired plant.
While the other two split up to search, Ruque remained in the same general area, his elven eyes scanning for the herb he needed.

The dragon girl found something that looked right. She reached out with her mouth and tore it. She smiled and started wandering over towards Ruque. She did not like the taste of it. But she carried it over to the elf and looked up at him smiling. She chirped softly and gave a wide yawn.

Ruque's eyes grew bright with excitement as the dragon lifted the plant to him, and he reached down and scooped her up, hugging her tightly.
"That's it!" he exclaimed happily. "Thank you so much!"
Her yawn only confirmed what he already knew, that the plant was indeed the sleeping plant that his mother had sent him for. But now the dragon girl was falling asleep ... how could he leave her like that?
The griffin heard his companion's chirp and turned around, flying back to the other two. He panicked for a moment, seeing her being held in the elven boy's arms ... but then he saw that the boy was not harming her at all, and he relaxed. He flew over to him and perched on his head, peering down at the dragon girl in his arms. He chirped at her questioningly, asking her if she was all right.
