Not exactly what he'd been hoping for for an answer, but interesting nonetheless. From the sound of it, Raniera eschewed physical congress entirely, a rather strange way of doing things to Guilian's mind. Indeed, from the sound of it Raniera was content to be completely alone, which was an even stranger concept. Still, to each their own; it was Raniera's choice, abnormal and unnatural as it was.

Still, in one sense he'd been hoping for a different answer. There was something about Raniera that was different, different in a manner beyond mere modesty and differing opinions. She was shrewd, this mare, and keeping him on his toes far more than anyone had in a long time. It would have been delightful to hear something...he didn't know, something dramatic. But ah well.

Shifting, he gave her a laugh. "Well, I would say that on that topic, we would have to agree to disagree, Chica, as I can't live without what you prefer to avoid. And yet for all of that, we are no so different that we cannot manage a decent conversation, no?"

Raniero was young of course, had yet to encounter a mare who caused him to lose all focus. He had never experienced lust, had never experienced love and as such he was content with his solitude for the time being. No doubt there would be a moment in his life that would capture him entirely and this would be his downfall. The instant he fell in love would be the moment in which all his research would go up in smoke - or such was the assumption of many. Even he had a sneaking suspicion that contact to that degree would tear his world apart - in a manner of speaking it terrified him. Having worked so hard to reach this point he couldn't permit himself to lose it all, one mare or a night of passion was not something he would bargain information of such value for.

Yes, he was content as he was.

He had little care for what others might think in relation to his decisions and was more than aware of how they might perceive it. Given that so many had searched the world tirelessly for a lover and he spurned the entire concept. He was unusual, he was strange and his views on the world and what existed in it were far from conventional. However, it was who he was and if only a handful of creatures could accept this then this was how it would be.

Nevertheless there was a certain amount of energy involved in keeping this stallion so occupied. There were those stallions who simply took 'no' for an answer and as such he didn't have to dodge, duck and dive out of the way. However, Guilian had chased him to the point that Raniero was positively bordering on exhaustion and he sincerely doubted he could keep it up. He half expected the stallion to follow him if he turned around and attempt to leave - this was perhaps a little inaccurate but all the same. The Wind demonstrated rare moments of clarity and interest in conversation before reverting back to more questionnable matters.

...It would have to stop.

"I will level with you," Raniero murmured at last, clearing his throat a few times to clear the 'light' tone from his voice. It was then that he spoke properly and gave the Wind something he craved - something a little more dramatic. "I am not as I seem," his tone was most definitely masculine and his expression had become decidedly more grim. "Your approaches are positively exhausting, no wonder there are few who refuse you..."

Aha, now if that didn't shut him up at least for a second then nothing would!

Well, Guilian had at least been correct about one thing: Raniero was NOT a 'typical' mare!

At the deeper, burlier, and definitely masculine tone to Raniero's voice when he once more spoke, Guilian's reaction was immeadiate, if slightly subdued. One dark brow arched upward, disapearing beneath his forelock as the red stallion eyed the blue one for a long, silent moment; after taking that moment to digest this new revelation, though, it was back to more standardized reactions.

"I would say that that would be an understatement, indeed I would!" Throwing back his head, Guilian once again gave his laughter free reign, the merry tones rolling out delightedly over the clearing and out through the woods. To think, he had been spending all of this time and energy trying to proposition a stallion!

And yet, in a sense it wasn't so surprising. That carefully maintained distance made sense now, as did Raniero's overly finicky attentions to overtly feminine details such as his mane and tail; really, he should have figured this out from the get go!

Well, that was untrue. He would have had to have walked into this meeting ready to pick apart his companion, ready to find some flaw or disguise. As the sort of stallion who liked to take others at face value, there was little merit to such underhanded tactics to Guilian's way of thinking.

Or so he liked to think, anyway.

As it was, though, he had to admit that he was impressed. "A very, very impressive performance, Raniera...or should that be RanierO, or even just Ranier?"

His ears swivelled and twitched in accordance with both words and laughter as the stallion seemed to take the news well. On a number of occasions stallions had figured him out but this had been at much closer quarters. Some had been horrified, others had simply dismissed themselves and then there were those who just laughed. Guilian's reaction was by far the most 'tame' in a manner of speaking. No bitterness or disgust could be heard in his voice, on the contrary he seemed to have taken the entire revelation in his stride - propositioning and flirtation included. Raniero hadn't expected much but what he had said had been deliberate so that he could have the opportunity to relax.

No longer required to play the role of a female he rolled his shoulders in a loose shrug to relieve the tension from his neck. His entire body seemed to ache from the rather exhausting encounter. He was used to being on guard to a point but the Wind Stallion had kept him moving constantly! While Raniero was not a stallion who favoured a bad posture, slumping seemed appropriate as he was given the opportunity to rest and regain his composure - at least now he didn't have to keep moving.

Even the forest creatures that had been waiting impatiently for him to deal with the intruder seemed to release a sigh of relief and now that he was still a number of them had scurried on to his back to tend to his hair. He was aware that he was overly interested in how his hair appeared, however there were those in the Kawani who would recognise him in an instant if it remained as it was. It was an even trade off, he looekd ridiculously prissy just to look like a girl and in return he received a surprising amount of information about his subjects - he really couldn't complain.

"It is Raniero," he offered after a few moments, lifting his head again to arch his neck. It had the desired affect, his neck giving a soft crunch and he soon released a sigh of appreciation. That being said the stallion was not about to apologise to Guilian for his deceit. After all, Raniero was a creature who warranted such behaviour when it got him what he wanted. Generally speaking if creatures had the intelligence they would be nosey and look at specific areas - he couldn't hide that much. Therefore, given he technically speaking, hadn't hidden his true self completely he had always given them the opportunity to figure out who and what he was...

He was first and foremost male.

"Now I should think you are aware of my disinterest in your proposition."

If Raniero was expecting Guilian to be offended or indignant, then he had to have been surprised at Guilian's easy acceptance of the charade. But he had seemed to be a very sensible stallion, and as one 'logical' stallion to another, Guilian didn't doubt his reaction was anything terribly unexpected. How long had they been talking, after all? Long enough for at least the rudimentary elements of their respective characters to be revealed on at least some level, he was sure.

Which was why Guilian was able to give the other stallion an easy grin once he'd calmed down, accepting the proper name in stride but having his eyes dance with amusement at the explanation. "Well, I will concede that you are indeed male, my friend, but I think that we are both a bit too worldly to deny that there aren't those stallions out there that wouldn't be delighted to be propositioned by a stallion. But yes, assuming that you are a stallion of similiar inclinations to myself, it does certainly make sense. On that note, it is a delight to know that I haven't begun to slip...or at least, that it what I can tell myself to assuage my wonded ego!"

Given Guilian's merry expression, it was likely that said ego didn't need any boosts, but he was not a normal stallion, either. Though perhaps he was more normal than Raniero, who knew?

Still, now that the facade had been dropped he had an excellant chance to indulge his curiousity, if just a little bit! "So. I am trying not to assume that you try to appear feminine for the sole purpose of fooling the gullible or lustful," this with a self-deprecating smile, "but I am at loose ends trying to guess a motive for the delightfully feminine alter-ego. Do not feel compelled to answer if you do not wish to share, but is there any particular reason for the costume?" If nothing else, the execution was something to commend!

Something told Raniero that Guilian really didn't need his ego pandered to any further. Such a thing was already so large that confidence radiated from the Wind Stallion. A little hiccup or misunderstanding like this wouldn't be enough to wreck a creature like him and as such, Raniero could only offer a half smile in response to such a concept. At the very least, the panda-stallion could commend the wind for taking everything in his stride though his later reactions were predictable and something he heard frequently...that now age old question 'why'.

"Rest assured I am inclined towards mare, though I have no interest in such pursuits at present," Raniero pointed out calmly. He was more than capable of appreciating the female form, however he couldn't allow such things to interrupt his research and as a result pleasures of the flesh had long since been stored in the back of his mind. They had later been joined by a variety of emotions that did more harm than good when sheer logic and indifference were required to ensure complete success. Perhaps one day he would retrieve them but really now just wasn't the time.

"That being said I will admit there are those who crave attention from creatures of the same sex," he shrugged loosely at such a concept. Given it was impossible for such couplings to reproduce he could only conclude that such relationships were more to complete the 'soul' aspect than to ensure pleasures of the flesh. Not that it was of any great concern, he had observed such relationships and mulled over their unusual nature before moving on to other topics.

"Nevertheless what you ask is something I am more than familiar with," he was now referring to Guilian's curiosity. Each time he had revealed himself or been discovered he had often had to explain why he behaved in such a manner. He had always ensured he was vague in his explanations and in doing so provided answers that were largely unsatisfying but couldn't be further questioned. "Long ago I noticed that mares find it significantly easier to acquire information from those of the same and opposite gender."

"The nature of the information they acquire varies but it is guaranteed that such things cannot be acquired through other means. I made the decision to develop such a guise in order to continue with previous research - the gullible and lustful propositions were merely a direct result of such a guise. It was not something that was not expected, though the level of interest and attention did come as a mild surprise..."

Guilian listened to Raniero's explanation with interest, nodding slightly in agreement at the observation that mares tend to be more successful on the whole than stallions at getting answers. Obviously there were exceptions to that rule; he'd met mares before without the slightest morsel of curiousity, but he also knew that some stallions could be excedingly tenacious in their quest for answers, present company included. Generally speaking, though, he could understand Raniero's angle; mares were, on the whole, subject to much less suspicion than a stallion pursuing a similar angle.

That said, Guilian's curiousity extended no further. Raniero might have been used to brushing off questions as to the specific nature of his research and the means to that end, but as far as Guilian was concerned he was now satisfied. Raniero's research was not necessarily something of import or interest to him, and from Raniero's circuitous way of obtaining said research and answering questions might very well be something personal. Either way, it wasn't going to kill him to remain 'out of the loop;' he'd managed pretty well thus far, in his opinion!

So he merely grinned, ignoring the allusions to research and instead focusing on Raniero's comments about the attention he attacted. He felt it to be a surprise, hrm? That ALONE indicated how little experience he had in the world of mares, to think that one as delicate and 'feminine' as he would fail to attract interest!

"Well, every course of action comes complete with its own potential hazards, no? I would say that you have done an admirable job in learning to ward off that interest, speaking as one of the fooled. However." The renewed activity of Raniero's creatures had reminded Guilian that he had interrupted something; entertaining as that interuption had been, it wasn't meet to continue...not when he knew now that it was a stallion he was talking to! No, it was time for both of them to get on with their days, leaving this meeting as an entertaining little footnote.

With that, he shook back his mane and gave the other stallion a warm smile, repeating, "However, I think that your companions are anxious to complete your toilette, if their industry is any indication. I will take that as my cue to leave, though I must say that I have enjoyed this immensely. Perhaps we will run into each other again sometime, my friend, and hopefully that time there will be no awkwardness...at least on my part." Winking, he turned and started off, offering as he did so, "Though I stand by my opinions regarding the straight mane!"

It wasn't that Raniero was unaware of the attention mares received during courting periods. He had observed many of the rituals and had taken note of the various responses (good and bad) with each. However the stallion had not anticipated that his disguise would be so impressive as to attract such a level of attention for him. Apparently despite his tall frame he was a rather desirable 'mare' - perhaps it was the height that made him more intriguing and exotic but still... Had he known he would receive such interest he would have prepared a little better.

Nevertheless the male simply held his tongue and offered a smile as the Wind Soquili seemed to take note of the dwindling conversation and to his entourage's activities. The meeting had come to a very natural end, a 'comfortable' one despite all misunderstandings and surprising revelations. Guilian would have been one of the few soquili who had not left Raniero in an exasperated state. Granted none of these individuals would know he was exasperated but still... He had Raniero's respect for avoiding such things at least.

Similarly the ability to merely 'accept' Raniero's vague answers played to his advantage as well and the stallion conceded that despite his rakish behaviour, Guilian certainly had a very distinct level of intelligence. He knew who he was, what he was and he was comfortable with such an understanding. Raniero could only assume that age and experience at led to such a mindset.

It was enough for the male to bow his head in farewell to the Wind. It had been an educational encounter and one that had tested both his endurance and patience but it had been well worth it. Alas Raniero couldn't help the smile that lifted onto his lips as Guilian added his little tidbit of information regarding his appearance but it was perhaps wiser to dismiss it. By default Raniero's hair was straight and he would much prefer to keep his male and 'female' side as seperate as possible. Raniera could have the curls and he would embrace his straight locks as his own...

"Goodluck in your endeavours, whatever they may be," Raniero responded calmly, nodding his head once again as he watched the stallion leave. At the very least Raniero now knew exactly what he had to do when it came to stallions who wouldn't take 'no' for an answer!

[[And...I'd say that's a wrap, good place to leave off. <3 ]]
