'Well y'know, every single day whilst we were all growing up. That's alot for a guy.' Vatsa chuckled. He got on well enough with his brother and sister, but was glad that he didn't have just them for company any more.

'I like that I can call you a friend Tuli,' he bumped her with his nose, flicking his ears at the latter comment.

'Make sure why?' he asked, looking slightly sidelong at her, curious as to why she wanted to know if he was single or not. He had a small guess, but given that they'd just met, he thought it was most likely wrong.

'It's wonderful,' he answered, taking in the scenery with a short glance, before returning his gaze to the mare. He joined her, standing at her side and looked out across the Lake.
'So here we stay..till morning.'

"Some Soquili have different definitions of 'friends', so I just wanted to make sure what your's was." she blurted out quickly. She smiled, more to herself than to him. It was nice to meet a Soquili that was so...open? No, that's not the term she was looking for...how would she put it? She pondered on that for a few moments longer then let the thought breeze away.

"There's willow trees on the far side, that's normally where I rest." she leaned over and nibbled his mane lightly before continuing, "The branches move so gracefully in the wind, it's quite mesmerizing sometimes." she wasnt' sure that she'd be able to pay much attention to the trees though given her company.

"How would a proper lady act? What do I do now?" she thought to herself as she took a few steps in that direction and stopped. "Care to walk over?" her tail flicked quickly, her eyes glistened as she looked back towards Vatsa.

"So you travel a lot?" her ears pivoted and perked, she enjoyed hearing of other's travels. It gave her ideas of places she'd like to visit one day. Eventually, she would leave these lands. Her family was made of travellers..to an extent.

'I guess, but I define a friend as being different than a partner, a mate.'

As much as Vartan was tactile, was affectionate, he wasn't a lothario, and couldn't see that he would have those kind of relations with an endless line of pretty mares. His mother would be disappointed in him as well, for when she did talk to him, it was to always to speak of and impose manners and values upon him.

'Sure, sounds like a pleasant enough place to rest, though anywhere is good with nice company.' he followed Tuli again, catching on the end of one of her wings and giving it a gentle tug.

'Since I left my family home, though I've only met a couple of Soquilis other than yourself. I've wandered through the valley areas, not ventured into the mountains as yet. Though I plan on doing so one day.' he said, then added;
'I'm also hoping to meet others of my kind, I've yet to meet another Unicorn than my mother.'

"That's good to know, that's how I differenciate them. Some...some call them the same thing though." She just shrugged a bit and went to change the subject. He had answered her question about any possible mates he had.

She looked back at him quickly and laughed as he tugged at her wing. She turned, nipping lightly at the n** of his nose, then quickly trying to mouth a strand of his mane. He was definately playful, that was a good sign to her. She was more relaxed around others who didnt' feel the need to be so...up tight.

"I can take you through the mountain passes!" She said excited. "My father knows the area well, he's shown me the way around since I was a foal. My mother stays more to the low roads, but my father knows the mountains." She bobbed her head slightly.

Reaching the area of the willows, she stopped and took in a deep breath, her muscles relaxing under coat. She loved this place. "I told you it was beautiful." She leaned over and 'booty bumped' Vatsa. "Didn't I?"

She broke her thoughts to continue the conversation. "A unicorn..." she pondered. "I just learned that I have an aunt that's a unicorn, but I haven't met her yet. I don't suppose I'm much help in that area.

'Really? Welll then, you must be my guide one day.' Vatsa smiled.
'We should make it a date sometime.' he added with a sly wink, curious as to how she would take that little word.

'Yes, you did, and I for the record didn't disbelieve you. But it's always best to see things for yourself.' he looked around, seeing the willows, the graceful curve of the branches that seemed to be reaching for the ground.

'Well, thanks for the thought at any rate. I'm sure I'll meet others of my kind eventually, there isn't any rush, it's just something I hope to do.' he nudged Tuli.
'Anything you hope to do in the future? Other than emulate your brothers that is.'

"A date? Does he...no. Surely not..."

Tuli tried her best not to get too excited, trying to casually brush off the word. Sometimes, she couldn't help but to still feel like a filly. "Yes, a date then." she nodded. Had he been able to see past her coat, he would have seen her cheeks turning a shade of pink at his expression.

"Why do you seek others of your kind?" Her head tilted, "Well, I mean...besides the obvious I guess." She hadn't thought of him needing another unicorn to show him the ropes. It wouldn't be unlike her father having taught her to fly.

"Me?" she stopped, pausing in her thoughts for a moment. "I want to travel, but I think I've told you that already." She didn't dare continue on the conversation about family, she didn't want to scare off her new companion in the slightest hopes that maybe..maybe he thought she was pretty and intresting. "Other than that, I'm not sure." She'd never given much thought to her future goals other than the basics. She'd thought of finding a partner, travel, and have a family one day.

"I guess, really....I just want to live life," she chewed on her bottom lip without realizing it, a small quirk of her when she was -really- thinking. "...I want to do good by others, and myself. Everything else will come. What about you?"

'Because I'm looking for someone to teach me what my mother will not.' Vatsa explained. There was a great deal of personal history behind why his mother, Sohalia, would not teach him the greatest part of his unicorn heritage, the ability to heal, but he couldn't go into that with Tuli. Maybe once they were even closer friends.

'You're doing that already aren't you?' he chuckled.
'But mostly what I've told you, some travel, knowledge of my racial abilities, and friends. Lots of friends.'

He didn't add that he might one day find a mate, he supposed that would happen in the course of things.

"Well that makes perfect sense then," her head bobbed in understanding. She noted that Vatsa didn't seem particularly interested in telling her more, so she moved on.

"I hope so!" she laughed, shifting her weight a bit. "I want others to like me...to be able to trust me." she stopped looking up at the stars for a moment, "Like my parents I suppose."

She looked over to Vatsa, "Friends should come easily for you. I couldn't imagine someone not taking to you." she flashed a smile.

Pawing at the ground for a moment, she turned a circle a lowered her body to the ground. It had been a long day and the walk to the clearing had burned the last of her energy. "I'd like to make a group of friends one day. It's....nice, having someone to talk to besides my siblings."

'Well I like making friends, like being close to others. Doing what my mother will not do.' Vatsa would never be as emotionally closed as his mother, but then he'd not gone through what she had done.

'Well, you're one step closer to that goal.' he said, moving so that when he laid down he was encircling her, his tail braid flicked around to rest on her hip and his head lay across her shoulders.

'Is this okay? I can keep you warm tonight..' he said with a grin.

Tuli smiled and lowered her head to rest on the ground as Vatsa layed his head across her shoulders. "Perfectly," she exhauled deeply as she relaxed.

"I'm glad we met, Vatsa. I'm glad to say I have a friend..." her words trailed off as she looked out over the lake. The stars reflected in the gentle movement of the water. "It won't be long before morning, you should rest. I'll have you up to watch the sun rise over the waterfall."

She closed her eyes and yawned. It had been a good day. Tuli smiled to herself, she was happy to have finally found someone to spend time with besides her brothers. She had grown lonely as they drifted away to be with their own friends and new families. Perhaps the fates finally decided to be on her side for once.

(( Timeskip is fine ))

Vatsa stayed awake for longer, his eyes scanning their surroundings, ears on the alert for anything, or anyone approaching. When he could no longer keep his eyes open, and Tuli's gentle breathing had lulled him into a stupor he finally fell asleep.

As the dawn neared, Tuli's ears began to twitch. Her brain was trying to tell the difference between her dreams and the reality of the world waking up around her.

She smiled, what a lovely dream she had...

Her eyes suddenly opened wide, there was pressure across her back! Slowly turning her head she saw Vatsa still there, fast asleep. It hadn't been a dream, he had stayed with her. A smile formed across her face, wide and toothy. Since he had kept his word and stayed through the night, then she must also keep her's.

Hues of the morning began to show through the darkness, they didn't have long now. Turning her head as far as she could, she nibbled gently at Vatsa's mane. She could hardly reach it from this angle, but she dare not rise and disturb him suddenly.

"Vatsa," she whispered, waiting a few moments before calling his name a little louder. "Vatsa, wake up."

(( Sorry I keep forgetting to respond to your PM's XP ))

Vatsa felt his jaw click as he slowly awoke, yawning as his eyes opened.

'Mmm, what?' he said, looking around in the pre-dawn light. He moved enough to see Tuli's face and smiled sleepily at her.

'Pretty thing to see first thing in the morning.' he commented, shaking out his mane and nudging her back. He could get used to waking next to a warm body that wasn't a family member, especially when it was a lovely mare like Tuli.
'Morning already?' he asked, looking around. He felt fuzzy headed still, and reluctant to move.

((hehe, it's okay. It happens.))

"Not quite yet, but I wanted to be sure you saw the sunrise here." she spoke softly to Vatsa, knowing that loud voices first think in the morning could make one's ears ring. She smiled down at him, his still sleepy expression a sight to see.

"We've got a bit longer, but I need to get up and stretch...I didn't want to startle you." Her legs had been curled beneath her all night, she needed to stand up and work out the soreness that was annoying her joints. She didn't really want to leave his side, it was nice having someone to curl up with, but she couldn't take the twinges any longer.

"Do you want breakfast? I can gather some berries while you rest a bit longer..." Her voice trailed off as she looked back at him, his coat almost seemed to glow in the first lights of morning that were now breaking through the skies.

Vatsa blinked, moving very slowly so that he could get up without falling down again from having stiff legs. He yawned again, and stood properly, stretching on the spot.

'No, I'm fine,' he replied as he looked around. It was funny how different a place looked when it was daylight.
'But if you want to go eat don't let me stop you.'
