Running at a pretty fast pace and chuckling had almost completely blanked out all the noises from his stumbles and such, as she looked back she couldn't see him and slowed down a little. He had followed her right? "Vulcan?" She squinted and it suddenly dawned on her; Vulcan had no light source and it was pretty dark out and he was a very dark furred male. One he wouldn't easily be able to see where he was going and two she wouldn't be able to see him until they were close enough for her aura to bounce off him and by that time she'd already be tagged and it would be near on impossible for her to see him let alone catch up enough to tag back.

So as she slowed to a stop still narrowing her eyes and looking for her friend she concluded: Tag was a daytime game, unless you were all mutants like herself. Mutant... wow there was a world she'd not thought about for a long time, not since.. well... coming to the Isle...

The dark male had managed to trip over a nicely placed rotting log just before hearing his name. He grunted and stood up, shaking his head with pieces of dead wood falling from his thick mane in the darkness. He looked down at himself and saw his advantage in this game: he blended almost perfectly with the darkness. Sandy wouldn't be able to see him until her light shone on him, and in that time he could get close, close enough to tag her. So why was he running then? Vulcan grinned, switching into hunter mode, thinking of Sandy as his prey. He pressed his body low to the ground even though there really was no need, she wouldn't be able to tell where he was unless he made a lot of noise. Which...there were no promises that he could be silent, he still couldn't see what was around him.

Hope this works. Vulcan thought as he carefully, slowly crawled to the area he had last heard, or thought he'd heard, her movements. The male thought if there was a way he could trick her into giving him her position, but he couldn't without compromising his.

But soon he saw that light she gave off and his heart pounded in his chest. Should he tackle her or jump out, touch her shoulder and run away? Either way he could probably get a good scare out of her, which would be exciting for him, but would she be mad? Well, only one way to find out.

So he carefully crept forward, his belly almost scraping the ground before he readied to go into a short sprint and jump just out of her sight range to tackle her side.

No matter how hard she squinted or stared at certain locations she could not see him. Hearing the little noise here and there made her jump starting to feel a little nervous, sure she was used to being alone at this time but she had become used to Vulcan's company tonight and if he wasn't coming who else was? "Vulcan? Is that you?" deciding to call out again with no reply she began to panic a little. Blue eyes drifting down to her paws, their glow slowly beginning to dull as the night went on as was her ability, she only stored light not produced it. The idea of shooting out small balls of light to try and locate him passing through his mind but no.. she cringed at the memories of previous experiences. It had caused a lot of pain before and she wasn't about to forfeit someones sight whether it be of her friends or anyone else's just because she was feeling a little uneasy.

Trying to calm herself one last time she looked towards the latest rustle, again seeing nothing but it sounded close, reassuring herself that Vulcan would find her, it had to be Vulcan who else would be this close at this time? Sniffing she could smell him but it wasn't sooner enough she was faced towards his previous position with him about to tackle her side and as she turned her head he was already in the air. There was no way Sandy was escaping this one in fact by the time she'd even considered it he'd be on top of her pinning her to the floor.

Vulcan was thankfull for his mane, otherwise the compact against his friend might've hurt. They rolled a few feet, his wings tucked in tightly against his body so he didn't roll over them wrong and brake one. The dark male was laughing, something he hadn't done in a very long time. They rolled to a stop, Vulcan standing over Sandy with a grin as he looked down at her surprised face. "Tag." With that he spread his wings and pushed off, the hunter now the hunted as he flew into a nearby tree.

Sandy had defiantly been taken by surprise, her eyes wide and maw a hung open as he pushed her over and stood in all his musclebound glory. Again she found herself feeling those bizarre feelings, the hot flush rushing to her cheeks she was slightly disappointed when he moved off and away but mostly thankful that he'd not caught her acting so, the only way she could think to describe it to herself, weird.

Laying still stunned on the ground it took her a minute or two to regain her composure and when she looked around he was already gone. Rolling over and onto her feet she was now ready to continue their game, she was the hunter now, her head hung low as her feet began to pad towards the tree. She could remember Vulcan shifting off her in this direction now just to find that dark friend of hers in the pitch black night.

"I'm coming to get yoooou" She taunted in a playful tone, she never was terribly good at the subtle approach....

Vulcan had to keep himself from chuckling at Sandy's approach. She definately was at a disadvantage here in the dark. However he wasn't paying close enough attention to the tree he was aiming for and almost flew into the branch he had been aiming to land on. Instead he grabbed it with his claws unsheathed, making a loud scratching sound against the bark as he dangled there for a few moments. Perfect. Think you were loud enough? The dark male asked himself with a grimace as he pulled himself up and onto the branch.

After a moments thought he decided to take it easy on the lioness if she couldn't find him in the next few minutes, staying just close enough too her that when he spoke she could pounce blindly and tag him.

Her eyes were fixated on one spot, yet as her head moved so did the spot she was trying to be serious and play the game like a hunter but couldn't help but take it ever so light hearted. When she was younger she never really got to play these games, her brother preferred to not indulge in such childish acts. Then when she was split up from him... after the fire... and joined the pride she was considered an adult and was giving adult duties to earn her keep among them. So she'd never had much time to just have fun, and was enjoying this time with Vulcan immensely, she enjoyed the talking and the playing, Sandy could only hope he was having as much fun as she.

As her aura was dimming to a dull glow barely clinging to her fur, she'd barely noticed only that the area around her was getting darker. A lot had been used in their game, and in the cave and the yellow lioness would usually be asleep by now and wake up to sun having absorbed into her wings and paws to give her the usual vibrant glow. If it wasn't for the loud scratching noise she'd of been rapidly loosing hope of finding him but this gave her a good advantage. Her head snaped to the direction of the noise and she beat her wings enough for a quick rise into the sky and flew straight at the tree, unsure of where exactly the branched where. The dull glow giving her enough time to alter her path to avoid the big leafed braches and there he was! Without thought she carried on forward and darted into him "Tag!" Was her victory yell as the two of them flew out of the tree, she'd managed to wrap her paws around him and was now holding the weight of them both not wanting him to fall and hurt himself.

The aura now subsiding to barely noticeable, only enough to illuminate the two's faces in the dark night and here they were hovering in the sky, she could only hope he'd take his weight soon otherwise it could be quite the rough landing.

Vulcan almost lost his footing, looking down just as Sandy jemped into the air and soared towards him. The feeling of another weight grabbing him and knocking him from the tree. Surprised, he let an 'Oof!' as he was tackled, becoming confused shortly after. He should be falling at a much faster rate, yet he was still in the air. It was then that he noticed the yellow lioness had tackled him and hadn't yet let go. His body felt warmer than it had before and a confusing feeling sprang up in his stomach.

The dark male started to flap his wings when he realized Sandy was carrying both their weight, that was why they didn't hit the ground so soon. It wasn't much longer before they safely alighted on the ground.
"Ah you got me! Probably heard me hit the tree, right?" Vulcan asked with a sheepish grin, both from hitting the tree and giving his position away and from the warmth in his body and butterflies in his stomach. He hadn't experienced any of these strange feelings before and they both scared him and made him curious; did Sandy feel the same things? I'll have to ask Stravina later, surely she has some experience with this; she's a female. It seems like a female thing, or at least something they would all know about. Vulcan hadn't noticed that he had wrapped his paws around the female while they were falling and had yet to let go.

Sandy had barely noticed as they continued down, when he took his own weight and wrapped his paws around her she could feel the very visible flush in her cheeks. Upon their remaining two of the paws touching the ground she couldn't break the moment, something inside her was completely aware that she hadn't let go and that she really should but the over whelming butterflies in her own stomach seemed to brainwash her. Just looking up into those eyes on the downward journey had caught her into a trance and now they were both still, holding each other with wings doing their automatic adjustment back next to their bodies she wanted nothing more to live in this moment forever.

In fact she almost missed his words, luckily her wing had just touched her side and she managed to break the eye contact, looking up and rolling her eyes hoping very much that the flush had faded and Vulcan wasn't looking for the nearest exit. "Yea kinda, but I don't think I'd of found you otherwise, you are all like black... I think I'm too much of an easy target at this game during the night" She chuckled feeling a little nervous and found here eyes shifting back to his. Even though Sandy had looked into many eyes in many different situation she'd never found herself feeling this way, like her knees where about to give in and her dinner threatening to come back up. As she could feel that flush coming back once again she felt a little panicked and leaned forward, closing her eyes and rubbing her nose against his in a brief but firm nuzzle.

Vulcan gave a sheepish grin at the lioness's reply. "I'm so easily spotted during the day. Quite a pair we make, eh?" He wasn't looking into her eyes until he noticed she was looking into his and he felt like his heart had jumped into his throat and he found it hard to swallow; he was trapped in her brilliant blue eyes. The dark male started thinking about how long they had their arms around each other, thinking that maybe they should stop now when he felt Sandy leaned forward, closing the gap between them and nuzzled her nose against his. The contact was brief but it spent his head spinning and the butterflies were out of control.

He looked down at her, surprised and nervous.
"Wh-what was that for?" Vulcan asked, trying to sound like he wasn't nervous and also like he didn't like the gesture. The vined male felt frantic, lost in what to do next. Why had she nuzzled him? Why wasn't he nuzzling her back like he wanted to? Did the yellow lioness share the same confusing feelings he was experiencing right now?

The nuzzle had felt so amazing, however brief it partially satisfied the part of her that had been yearning for contact again with him since the cave. However right it had felt when she opened her eyes straight away to gage his reaction she instantly felt guilty. Vulcan hadn't show any interest in her she had no right to do that and what if she was to trigger Deimos to come out? She hadn't thought about all that just about herself it just happened because something inside herself had made her, not that she hadn't enjoyed it and wanted more but it was just like her not to think. Sandy looked away as soon as the thoughts started, as soon as she'd opened her eyes and withdrew her paws and began her apology "I'm.. I'm sorry It just kinda.. I mean." She was stuttering as the tears began to well behind her eyes, he'd hate her now and he had right to but oh how she wished he wouldn't.

Unfortunately her mind had already come to the conclusion with his reactions that he would hate her, softly she spoke, only just holding back the tears and resisting the sudden sniffle in her nose that had apparently appeared from no where.

"I'm... sorry Vulcan."

That was it the tears silently began to run down her face as her body slumped down and away from him, she tried her best to hide it and hoped so much he wouldn't see...

A wave of confusion washed over him at Sandy's reaction. He was surprised to find that the instant she drew back he wished she hadn't and he began to regret not nuzzling her back, but it was a little late for that now. But why was she apologizing? For a few seconds he stood there, balancing on his back legs before falling to all fours when the lioness tunred and walked away from him and he noticed for the first time that her glow was faint and growing fainter. Did he do that? Panic welled inside of him when he heard the sniffle. She's crying? Why?!

Vulcan wasn't sure what to do. "What are you apologizing for and why are you crying?!" Almost as soon as he said it he wished he had said it in a more caring tone instead of a panicked one. The dark male quickly padded to her side and bent down to try and look at her face.

The only thing she was glad for right now was that her glow had indeed dulled to almost unnoticeable, making it easier to hide her face. She felt for the first time in a long time the urge to run, but there was still hope maybe? No. Sandy told herself the reason she was staying was to prove she wasn't a little scaredy cat girl like she was oh so long ago... the last time she could remember crying she'd had to run to preserve herself from an angry mob... even her foster family. Before that her own family and that... fire...

Sandy's eyes shot open as she sucked back the tears and turned back to look at him, almost jumping out of her skin to see him so close to her. "I dunno..." She managed a very brief and sniffed chuckle at her reaction to his surprising her and a little at the situation. As soon as she finished she found herself looking back into those eyes wishing so much to see more than confusion and panic but alas even his tone showed that. Hanging her head back down she sighed and tried to make sense of her action "For the nuzzle I guess... I just.." Her tone lowered to almost a whisper "It just felt so right..."

It pained the Vulcan to see his friend like this, crying in a heap on the earthen ground with her beautiful blonde hair covering her even more beautiful face and those awe-inspiring blue eyes. The thoughts he had just had caught him off guard and he wasn't sure if he had thought them at all, and when he realized he did he felt his face begin to burn and turn red. He was thankful for his dark fur and the cover of night.

The dark male shook his head and pushed the thoughts aside when Sandy began to speak again, their eyes locking for a moment. It was clear then that neither knew what to think or do, though Vulcan felt like he was maybe beginning to.
"No, no, no don't apologize for that." His words started quickly but they were spoken softly and he lifted a paw to her chin, lifting it back up. "You're right, it did feel right. I'm...I'm glad you did it." He managed a reassuring smile before his other paw reached around to pull her a little closer for a hug.

Sandy's eyes drifted back to her friends, his tone seemed to have calmed and reassured her more than he could ever know. Vulcan's paw helping to resist her urge to turn her head away as her cheeks joined his in their red flush, all the feelings previous to the nuzzle flooding back in just his few soft words. With her yellow fur it was impossible to hide, not even the almost diminished aura aided in showing her brightened cheeks, she was sure it was the feel of that paw under her chin.

Those red eyes of his made it easy to forgive as she felt herself loosing her previous thoughts of running and panic melt away as not only they but the owner of them drew her close. "You are?" She blinked for only a moment before her usual smile started to work its way at the edge of her lips. "It's good to know I'm not crazy..." and the smile converted into another brief chuckle as she sniffled the last of the tears away only leaving the trail of wetted fur down her cheeks. Breaking the eye contact long enough to flick her head to move the hair out of her face and shuffle even closer in the hug. The butterflies where going crazy, her little reaction may of caused an upset but it seemed to be settling now and for the better, she was even starting to believe herself when she thought about him sharing these strange and alien feelings that in all honesty she'd never felt before. It sure was a relief considering he would be right in thinking that she was indeed completely new to this and had only her gut instinct to go on in this situation, but the hug reassured her more than ever that she wasn't alone on the Isle, not anymore.
