Leaning her head over, she nipped at his bottom lip that he so sullenly poked up. "Awww, how could anyone be afraid of a face like that? It just makes one's heart melt like ice in the summer time."
Olivia gave a shrug of her own. "I don't know either, really. Guess only the spirits know who or what anyone's proper match is. At least, until you find that proper match and just everything...clicks."
An ear twisted around as the sound of rushing water could be heard faintly in the distance. She grinned at his response to her query. "Really now?" Soon her gaze turned back to the path before them.
"Snow? No, I'm afraid I haven't. I've only lived so far through two of the seasons, spring and summer. Though from what my mother says it's quite wet and cold. And during the summer it retreats back up into the mountain tops." The mare flicked her tail thoughtfully. "I wouldn't mind seeing snow though. Frozen, white ice covering the land and trees sounds beautiful. Especially if the sunlight caught it just right and made the world just seem to glow." She gave a small, dreamy sigh at the thought of it all. It really did sound wonderful. This snow.

'Oipe,' Vatsa said, as her teeth caught his lip for a mere moment. He wiggled the lip and then poked his tongue out at Olivia.
'It does? So I make your heart melt huh?' he teased the flutter mare.
'Well, that's the idea. You and the other slot into place I think..like two pieces of a whole? I think that's the romantic way of looking at it..' he mused out loud, lost in his own thoughts for a few seconds.
His own ears twitched, mimicking the mares, and he listened, he too catching the sound of water in the distance.
'Oh, you're not much older than I am then? I was born in the summer, my mother said snow is to be appreciated aesthetically, but that when it is ruined by many tramping hooves it is merely a soggy and dirty nuisance.' he laughed.
'I still want to see it though.'

Olivia grinned, bobbing her head side to side slightly. Her long mane shifting along her neck. "Well, if you keep acting like that it just might melt my heart of ice."
"Yea, but I'm sure there are some couples who don't really go with one another and yet they still have a loving relationship. Whether it be because their coat colors are so drastically different or their personalities and views on the world are completely different as well. Sometimes they say opposites attract after all." She picked up her pace a bit as the sound of running water was beginning to get louder. Her tongue running across dark lips as it was beginning to make her thirsty. The Flutter hadn't realized how thirsty she was!
"Nope, not much older at all. I was born around the end of winter. When most of the snow had turned to slush or left the lands where my parents raised my siblings and I." She turned a curious eye towards him. "Well, I hear there's still snow up in the mountains. It might be fun to take a trip up there sometime." Olivia wasn't sure if she'd actually go up there. Not on her own at least. She would probably get lost forever and never find her way home. "Though I hear there are scary monsters that live up in the mountains to." The mare gave a small squeak, flicking a wing forward to cover her face again. "Ones that are really mean and have big sharp teeth and and eat...Soquili."

That was a strange thing to describe her heart as - it certainly wasn't the first thing that popped into Vatsa's head if he thought of her heart. She'd been friendly, playful and teasing the whole time he'd been talking with her, and who did that if their heart was like ice?
'Why would you think you have a heart of ice? I don't.' he had to ask, because it just didn't seem right.
'Something still keeps them together though. My parents have completely opposite personalities, but they are also very much in love.' he made a face, having witnessed them being sweet with one another. Parents weren't meant to do that!
'Oh, Soquili eating mountain monsters huh?' Vatsa hadn't heard of those, but the mountains sounded tempting enough on their own to see one day.

The mare laughed. Shaking her head and nipping at his cheek lightly. "I was kidding silly. Gosh, you need to lighten up a bit if you can't pick up on that as a joke." She giggled some more, fluttering her wings rapidly Olivia trotted a head just a bit as the small stream came into view. And as soon as she reached it, her head bent down and she took a long drink of the cool waters.
The feel of it running down the back of her parched throat was delightful. How had she become so thirsty in the first place?
After her little drink, she lifted her head once more. Turning her gaze back to him. "I think the theory could apply to many couples. Such different personalities and views coming together, bound by love. Its romantic and exciting." She gave an exaggerated shiver of excitement.
"Yes!" Her face went fairly serious, but a smile kept wanting to creep back onto her lips. "They'll make you their tasty little snack if your not careful!" She had to admit though. A little journey into the mountains did seem like an exciting adventure. Though a bit scary.

'I'm not exactly serious, but you certainly sounded it,' Vatsa replied, making a pbbt sound at the mare with his tongue. He followed Olivia to the bank of the stream, and took a drink himself, the water crisp but sweet on his tongue.
Standing upright again, his shook his mane out and stretched, neck to hind legs, giving his tail braid a flick.
'I suppose it could be exciting, one day.' he nodded, and then laughed;
'Just a snack? I think I'm big enough to be considered more than just a snack. Besides, what do the monsters even look like?'

Olivia scrunched her nose lightly with a giggle as he stuck out his tongue and made the odd noise. "I guess that's just the part of my mom coming through. But seriously, I wasn't being serious."
If it was anatomically possible she would have scratched her head. Eyes rolling upwards to find that answer on the inside of her eyelids again. "They look like...monsters?" Was all she could really come up with. She'd never actually seen a monster. So how was she suppose to know exactly what they looked like? "I suppose they could look like you or me. Or--they could be all big and ugly and drooly and just...nasty looking."

Vatsa shook out a leg, the muscle in it felt slightly stiff, and he wiggled his hoof in the air before putting it back down.
'Ohh like monsters,' he said, chuckling.
'Maybe there aren't any monsters up there, and you just got told that so you wouldn't wander up there. I mean, they are quite steep, there is a chance of hurting yourself through falling I would have thought, if you had to land for any reason.'
After all, she was the winged one, but he had been told that flutters could only fly a certain distance from the land.

His wiggling hoof caught her attention for a split second before chocolate eyes returned to look into his own. "Yes! See you know."
She nibbled on her bottom lip lightly, casting a glance to the ground beside her. Both ears twisting back and forth as she thought about it for a moment. "My mom and dad wouldn't lie to me. If they say there's monsters up there there's monsters." The mare nodded her head affirmatively. Her mind was made up. There were monsters up there. Even if Vatsa said there might not be.
"Well yeaaaa silly. Everyone knows that the mountains are steep and that you could fall if you weren't careful. Or even get blown off the side of the mountain by a strong wind." The thought made her shiver lightly. It was enough that she got tousled around by the winds down her in her Flutter size. She could be blown clear into another land from the winds way up there!

'Well, I know I only believe what I see, so I'll have to go up there myself. And besides,' Vatsa twisted his head, trying to see if he could spy the high tops of the mountains as they brushed the lower clouds from there they were.
'Isn't that part of the challenge, the adventure? The possible danger.'

Olivia's gaze also moved towards the high, towering tops of the mountains. Squinting her eyes just slightly as if she tried to peer past the clouds that lingered around their peeks.
"I guess." Her voice was a bit unsure. Unsure of this whole adventure and danger thing really and she was starting to second guess the idea of actually going up there a bit. "Do you think you could make it all the way up there? To the top?" She tilted her head as she gave him a questioning look.
Sure, he could of probably made it to the top. Perhaps. Vatsa did seem strong enough, but it wasn't all about strength. You needed to endure the weather and temperature changes. Not to mention the air was probably a lot thinner up there than it was down here.

Vatsa gave the sky a glance for the first time since he'd started talking to Olivia; apparently at some point evening had started drawing near. He would have go find shelter soon.
'I don't know, maybe if it was a small enough mountain, and I started my journey early enough in the day.' he chuckled.
'I think I would try and get as high as my hooves could take me.'

"From what I see there really aren't that many small mountains." She herself had just realized how late it was starting to get. Odd. Olivia surmised that she had just lost track of time while talking to Vatsa. Which wasn't a bad thing really. Talking to him and taking a little stroll down to the river did relieve her boredom after all.
"As long as you make sure that you have enough energy to get yourself down I think would be more of what I would worry about. I'm not sure how sheltered or safe the mountains are. Even at night it probably gets pretty cold just from being up so high." Her wings twitched again as a small pin point of light gradually started to appear in the sky. The first stars were already deciding to come out.
But it was getting closer to fall and the days would get shorter over time. So it was understandable. Though she really wished that the day wouldn't end. The mare did quite enjoy the conversation and the play that Vatsa had brought to her today.

'Hills are small mountains,' Vatsa chuckled.
'I can practice walking up and down those.'
The sky grew steadily darker, and now he was having trouble seeing into the darkest shadows.
'Well, the end of the day seems to have stolen up on us, so I think it's time we parted ways for today.' he smiled.
'It was very nice meeting you, walking and talking with you Olivia.'

"That's true." She frowned lightly as he mentioned parting ways. Perhaps if he had only happened along a bit earlier they could talk more. Oh well, maybe he'd swing by again whenever that was.
Though luckily for her it seemed she still had enough strength to keep her size for the moment to get herself back home. "Promise me you'll come back and talk to me sometime, Vatsa?"
