Little has changed outside since the Jedi entered the bar not too long ago. People, humans predominantly, wander the Promenade, shoping, chatting and lounging in the pleasant atmosphere generated by the decor.

“Thirty generations,” Ember let a slow whistle escape from between her lips. “But they served the Republic and its democracy, when all beings were free of oppression.” Her red eyes studying him carefully from behind a lock of flame red hair that had fallen in front of her face. “That form of government has been swept away by the Empire, a new totalitarian dictatorship where not all are free.” She ran the tip of one finger around the rim of her pitcher and stared down into the frothy liquor.
“I don’t believe you’ve stained your families name by being drummed out of such a form of government that seems to stand against everything that the Republic, and thirty generations of your ancestors stood for.” She looked up at him, brushing away the lock of red hair.
“There’s other things you could do besides trying to commit suicide by drinking yourself to death. Family can be the cruelest of all, but don’t dismiss the opinions of others. You seem like a nice enough fellow and you’ve been kind to me.” Her bright red eyes looking into his dark orbs.

"Oppression?" The man said, gesturing with his empty glass. "You want to talk opression, lets talk about the Republic! All across the Outer Rim, little worlds were being attacked by these bloody super corporations and trade guilds, strangled to death by them. Where was the Republic? Nowhere. It was always locked in debate. Nothing ever got done. Where was the Republic when Naboo was blockaded and invaded? Nowhere to be found. The Jedi had to intervine. Where was the Republic when Stark cut out the hyperlanes? Ranulph Tarkin had to coble together his own forces because the republic would do nothing to stop Stark and his cronies. Why, the Republic had to leave control of the GAR to the Jedi because they couldnt decide amongst them who should have control. There was no unity under the Republic, no freedom. Just a bunch of rich, bickering politicians looking to advance their own interest. The Empire provides the stability the Galaxy needs now in the wake of the Clone War. Sure it will be harsh going for a while but if we're ever expected to get back on our feet then we have to be willing to consign some liberties."

The Officer poured himself another helping, now working on he two remaining fifths of the bottle.

"30 generations of Successful men in my family doesnt mean military service, female. That means we succeeded at what we did, whatever our career. Politicians, Lawyers, Merchants, Buisnessmen, whatever my ancestors did they turned it into gold. But not me. Oh absoultely not me. I failed the whole bloody lot of them. Well verre d'n nocka!"

“Maybe military service wasn’t for you. If thirty generations of your ancestors were able to succeed in the things they did it must mean that they didn’t stop trying.” She smiled warmly at him. “Have you tried other professions? There’s a whole galaxy out there full of opportunities. I’m sure if you kept trying you would find your calling, after all, as long as you don’t stop looking to the future there is no failure. Failure only comes once you’ve given up.”

"If I wanted a pep talk, I'd take it up with my staff." He muttered sourly after downing another shot. "Now I'm stuck on who the bloody blazes you remind me of."

Ember gave him a side-long grin.
“There’s a difference between wanting a pep talk and actually needing one. Your staff might not have said what needed to be said knowing that you’d probably not like what you heard.” She hefted her pitcher and down more of her drink. Setting it back down on the bar, she looked at him quizzically.
“Well I hope it was someone nice, who ever it is.” She giggled.

Jahan spies two men loitering on the promenade who do not seem to be part of any larger crowd. Each seems to be scanning the crowd, looking for something or someone though they pay Jahan little attention. She also spies that, despite the traveling clothes both are wearing, both are dressed identical with a hold-out blaster tucked into their jackets.

Moments later, a woman with short black hair and the greasy uniform of a mechanic comes stumbling onto the Promenade, clutching her
midsection as though injured. She struggles to make her way across
the floor in your direction, though clearly she is having difficulty
walking.
“Please, help me,” she calls out to you. “There are credits in it
for you, just help me!”
Mere seconds later, two stormtroopers burst into the area from
the south end of the Promenade. They raise their blasters, aiming
them at the woman, and shout through their helmet speakers, “Step
away from that woman. She is under arrest in the name of the
Emperor!”

Inside the Cantina, the man just shakes his head. "You bloody giggle too much. Really you might want to have that-"
Tilting his head up from his drink and looking towards the door blearily the officer blinks.
"Did you hear something?..."

Ember blinks her eyes a few times at his statement.
“I do?” She replies, before turning her head to look in the direction that had caught his attention.
“Hear what?” She asks.

Sounds like theres a commotion going on outside on the promenade." The Officer said, slipping off his stool and standing upon uneasy legs. "I think I might see whats going on..."

Ember slides off her bar stool and slips an arm under his to steady him, her pitcher forgotten on the bar
“Whoa there I got you. You’d better take it easy or you might not make it out the door. Let me help you.” She smiles at him.

"I've got one steady leg left." He declared to her as she helped him. "I'm drunk, not crippled." Nonetheless, with Ember's assistance, the Officer shuffles to the door to witness the scene with the wounded woman and the Stormtrooper.
Seeing what was going on, the officer shook off the help. "You dont want to b dragging me around when the shots go off." he declared calmly, though his words were still a bit slurred.

As Ember looked about she allowed the officer to slip free of her arm, letting fall to the handgrip of her holstered blaster.
“Like I wouldn’t want you staggering about in a blaster fight?” She replied with a worried look on her face. “And my name Ember by the way.”

Any enemy of the Emperor is a friend of mine. Jahan thought. Besides, she might know something about the Senator. That last mental nudge was enough to propel the young Zabrak from her unobtrusive post at the cantina's stairs as two patrons came out.

Ember spies the dark haired woman griping her midsection as she approaches the cantina, as well as the stormtroopers taking aim at the grease-covered mechanic. Her cries for help touches something inside of Ember and with out a second thought she draws her blaster, leveling the business end at the white hard-shelled armored troopers and squeezes the firing stud of her weapon.

”Quickly,” She calls to the wounded woman. “Over here!”

A bolt from Ember's pistol flashes over the leftmost trooper's shoulder, leaving a black streak on his pristine armor.
Getting shot at, the troopers do what every trooper does when fired upon: they fire back.
They open up with their carbines, the bolts flying wildly past Ember to burn softball sized craters in the cantina's door frame, ignoring he wounded woman to focus on the more legitamite target.
