"It is normal to be different..." She frowned and blinked a few times before she forced herself to look back up at the kind male. "Then I do not know the definition of different anymore. Perhaps there is something else that's wrong with me.... I do not know anymore." A heavy sigh escaped her and she made herself continue walking again.

"No, I do not. Ever since the adult dragonflies who cared for me when I was little left me I have come unacustomed to such jestures. You may need to explain to me if it has an important meaning behind it...."

"Difference is good. It makes the world more fun wouldn't you say?" he walked next to her. "You should stop frowning too. It ruins your pretty face." he stared at her expectantly waiting for her answer.

Meren was taken aback. Not know what winking was?! What else didn't she know? He cleared his throat "Well...um...winking you see...its kinda...um...a show of affection?" He knew his words wouldn't make an impact, so he decided to use his actions instead. He walked closer to her and nuzzled her. "And this..." he slowly said. "Is another way of showing someone how much you like them."

(Sorry...all this food is making me feel like a cheesy romantic ^^U)

(( D'aaaaw. Tis the cute, good kind though. <3 ))

Dementia blinked and tilted her head. "Well... I suppose my pumpkin patch would be odd if they were all the same sizes and colors, but..." She paused and her eyes widened a bit. "You think I'm... pretty?" No, she didn't understand exactly what it was, but she felt something in her chest flutter. Funny how simple words affected her. How confusing and yet... How wonderful.

Nuzzling... Winking... Affection? She didn't know what to think of all this. It felt good. It reminded her of something though. "The one who stood as my father did something like that..." She tilted her head. "I'm a bit old for adoption if that's what it is... Sorry." She felt something in her chest flutter again though. What was that? "I have little experience of this affection that you speak of. I think the parent figures of mine gave it to me once before I grew old enough and... Well 'Threw me to my odd hobbies' as they would say."

Meren nodded. "Very pretty." he chuckled at her embarrassment. "Has no one ever told you these things before?"

Meren looked at her. "Well nuzzling can be both from parents and for others who like each other....like us." he went back to nuzzling her again. He felt calm and serene as he was doing this. Maybe she was going to be special in some way? "I don't think your hobbies are too bad..." he said loftily. "I think it makes you more attractive."

"My parent figures called me cute. I suppose I was too young to be.... Pretty. That's the closest I've gotten to being called "pretty" and as I said, I tend to scare others away who come into my pumpkin patch. .They most likely find me scary or something on that level" She sighed and shook her head. "It's been a while since I've had such a long conversation with another dragonfly too like this. It's... nice."

"Attractive..." She repeated quietly. She studied him for a moment. "You are.... Attractive too, if I understand what you mean." Hesitantly, as if afraid she'd do it wrong, the pumpkin colored female nuzzled the other back. Her heart began to pound in her chest. She couldn't decide if she was more nervous or happy about this. "So.... What are we hunting for again?" She asked.

"Well then. Everytime another dragonfly calls you scary, I will say you are beautiful." he looked at her happily. Out of all the other females he had met, he had never been this close with one. She was definitely his special one. "I agree. Socializing is a great thing."

"I am quite good-looking aren't I?" he joked. Meren's heart leaped when she nuzzled him back. "So I'm guessing you like me too?" he murmured. "Cause I really like you..."

He completely forgot that they were supposed to be hunting. "...Um...maybe...the first thing that pops out of those bushes." Meren pointed at a pair of blackberry bushes.

Dementia didn't quite understand what Meren meant by "like". Well, she thought she did. After all she liked many things, but in a different sense. Like how she liked eating food and liked days without rain. "Yes, I like you," She replied and nodded her head. "If I didn't I don't think I would be following you right now. It would make little sense." She stopped and sat down in front of the bushes. She watched them carefully for a few moments before looking over at Meren. "Do you often hunt by waiting like this?"

"You like me too?" Meren's heart soared. Or felt like it soared. He chuckled, "Well no. But since I don't know what you prefer, I guess it would be better to hunt like this." he stretched his legs. "But if you're really hungry, we could look for it rather than sit here..."

Dementia stared at the bushes for a few moments. Nothing seemed to stir. "Well I don't think anything will happened here for a while, but I have little complaints. We can do as you wish. I really don't mind so..." She smiled a little. "Besides, it's sort of nice to... talk... Do nothing. Especially with someone who answers back."

Meren chuckled, "Well, talk to your heart's content. I'm here to listen." he walked slowly to the bushes and prodded them. "Hmm...I don't think there's anything here. Let's walk and talk, shall we?"

Dementia nodded her head and stood up. "That sounds fine." She looked around for a moment. Funny, now she didn't know what to say. "What do you want to hear from me? What would you find... interesting?" She asked quietly. She felt a little bad, not being able to come up with something interesting on her own at the moment. It wasn't often she ran into someone who wanted to hear so much from her though and she didn't know too much about Meren yet. She wanted to make him happy too...

"Tell me more about yourself." Meren said, "I want to know more about you. After that, I'll tell you about myself." he smiled at her. "Sound fair enough?" he pawed at some undergrowth hoping some animal would come out.

"Alright," Dementia said as she tried to think of something to say. She thought she might as well start with her origins since nothing else came to mind. "I was born into a family of dragonfly with two parent figures and two other pups. I never really felt like I belonged with them exactly. Near our cave my parents raised me in was the pumpkin patch and when I found it I felt a strange connection to it. The pumpkins seemed more like family to me then my normal family. My parents never much liked my behavior towards them and would fuss at me. It made me happy though so I never stopped going to the pumpkin patch and that is why I'm still here today."

She looked up at the trees as she heard a bird fly from one of the branches and call to some of its friends. "I think I already said some of that, but that's the clearer picture if you wanted to know in details. I suppose it may be, interesting." She tilted her head as she saw the bird fly to the same branch with a worm. She wondered what was going on up there on that branch. "I also find things that are not understandable more interesting than things that are understandable even if different seems to be bad in many eyes, I’m pretty good at hunting rabbits especially, and I like light rain showers.” She stopped for a moment and wondered if she should try to continue. She was more interested in what Meren had to say, however. “Your turn?”

He listened to her story, "Don't you get lonely though? Just being alone with pumpkins?" Don't you pine for the company of another?" Meren felt sad for her, a young female living alone on a pumpkin patch. "It must've been hard for you..." he was quiet for moment, lost in his own thoughts about Dementia's origins.

Dementia stayed silent for a few moments before responding. The question made her feel sad even though she didn't know why since she had grown used to the fact of being alone. "Yes, I guess. I'm so used to it though I tend to ignore the emotion and focus on my job of guarding my friends," She said, refering to the pumpkins. "If I don't let myself think about it, it can't hurt me." She forced a smile. "Besides, it is impossible to be lonely at the moment. I have your company."
