Final Fantasy isn't overrated/hyped up at all.
Certain games within the series/franchise are, clearly, like Final Fantasy VII.
I think most games in the FF series are underrated. If you actually take the time to put bias aside, you'd realize FF is not hyped up at all. Remember when Halo came out? EVERY SINGLE THREAD in the VGD was like "OMG11 1 HAYLO11!" And the EXACT same thing can be said about MGS4.
I went into the VGD forum, and counted 2 Final Fantasy XIII threads. I think people just like to hate, and for whatever reason, they pick FF and call it overrated and a hype machine. Remember when FFXII came out? There were a handful of threads about it. A week or so after release, there were none. Now, no one talks about it. The same could be said about 99% of other FF games.
IMO, you're a hypocrite in a half if you call FF overrated and then go out and buy MGS/Halo games.
Also, take out every "FF", "Final Fantasy", and "Final Fantasy______" in the above paragraphs and insert Zelda. The same holds true. Zelda is not overrated. Except for OoT. That was Zelda's FFVII.

Hell, in Majora's Mask, they used the sam figures, but everybody was different, and nothing shalll replace the void of Anju and Kafei in new Zelda games........ except if they use Anju and Kafei more. I'd like another timed quest like Anju and Kafei (again, I JUST did this). The time aspects of MM were awesome because you had to plan ahead and use your resources to figure out the system (without the aid of a guide) in order to build puzzles much larger than single rooms. So then, it's agreed. We all want a MM remix (that's rightm I said remix) with Anju and Kafei playing a bigger part. Ha ha. That could definitely work, but I don't know if Anju and Kafei SPECIFICALLY would work...however, the Bombers' Notebook would be a great start, and Anju and Kafei would be the big one. I could definitely see moving a lot of important items to the Notebook making the game more interesting. And if you still want A & K being the the focus, remember that it does affect a lot of the notebook people. Not the focus. Temples, bosses, and the civilizations wll be the focus for most of the game. Anju and Kafei would be a much more prominant factor, and instead of being a sidequest, it would be a mnadatory quest before going inside the moon. That actually sounds like a good idea. The only kind-of problem I have with MM is that every bit of good you do gets reset when you play the Song of Time, but making stuff be permanent so that when you do finish the game, it makes sense that everyone is still happy would be good, and the entire concept could change up the purpose of Zelda games, adding a WHOLE lot of great ideas. Yeah. I think the Bomber's Notebook should have a certain power. It'll record all the stuff you do, and when you beat the game, it'll put everything back in place as if you had helped everyone in your last three-day cycle.

There are many game series that have a subforum worth of discussion. While not overrated generally speaking I think it is immensely overrated by it's fans. The fans that have sick sexual fantasies involving the characters prove my point. (FF Yaoi?) If I had to say any FF were underrated it would be the pre-FFVII games and the fans jerk off FFVII upward so bad.

The only fans that make the series overrated are the ones below 13 years old. Do you realize yaoi of everything exists? I could find Zelda yaoi if I wanted to.
And not all pre-FFVII games are underrated. The only "FFVII and upward" games obsessed about are FFVII and its spinoffs. No one talks about 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12.
I think your sources are ******** up if you're setting everything below X as _________ and everything above X as ________.
