@Emo Cattle: I'd have to disagree with multi-level structures--horses aren't made to ascend stairs, nor to climb much at all. I'd envision more of a nature-included style of housing, such as tree boughs manipulated to be arched roofings with long halls and broad, ground-level wide spaces.
And...yeah, they'd be quite capable of towing carts but I'd assume it would be looked down upon, especially because humans subjugate horses, which resemble centaurs, to do their dirty work. I'm not sure there, they could be very capable of bearing load by draft or by backpacking, but the acceptance of that as respectable...open for debate, really.

For mulit-level structutres I was thinking ramps at the time but a few minuets after I posted I realized how flawed that idea was. I chose carts because of human belittlement, I thought it would help create drama between the centaurs and other races. I guess I was in more of a story mind set then one of realisim.

Everything strawberry stroodle said~ But I'de have to add, that I don't think they'd like children very much.
'OMG! Horsiehorsiehorsie! MOMMY MOMMY I WANNA PET IT! -wriggles onto centaur's butt- Giddyup horsie gogo! -backslap-'
I would be so annoyed... STOP TOUCHING MY BACK, PONY OBSESSED KINDERGARDEN GIRLS! And I couldn't be able to imagine them liking to be riden, other than by their true love, for small children, or if completely necasssary. I think it would be slightly degrading.

I meant more along the lines of if....say an orc, were chasing down a human woman with her small child, a centaur woman would chose to save the human child and the mother, rather than if it was a male human. :]

Now, getting past that I won't paint the picture here...
But? we can't sit on a toylet now...Nor can we just go anywhere...its a big mess...So..How would that be fixed?
(unless we are going to have some gaian with a demonic pitchfork run behind us...--)

Or designated places of the forest or whatever?

Quote: I like the pitchfork idea! In my mind that works better. We have over..I don't know I am just guessing here..50 + cenetars running around in this guild? Maybe a big less. Still with that number you have a lot of mess around here. I dought pits will work. ....Unless we come up with a super dung bettle here. o_o ...Fertilizer...O.o maybe not. Who knows what we eat. Edit:: Gaia is a big place. The guild isn't that big yet and there arre other centar gaian's out there.

This is my take on Centaurs. I dislike the Greek portrayal of Centaurs.
So what makes a centaur? Well a horse body of course but what else? A connection to nature and druidic magics, as well as a dedication to prowess in combat for those that are less magically inclined. An intelligent, Chaotic Neutral race.
Do you think centaurs are an advanced or primitive race? It varies. Just like humans, different cultures, different levels of technology.
Where would centaurs live? Anywhere you'd find horses. I like to think of Centaurs as having breeds like horses. Some may have longer coats/hair to live in colder places, etc.
Do they have their own language? Yes, although they'll learn the languages of any other peoples living near them out of necessity.
How well do you think they'd get along with other races? Semi-reclusive - not exactly going out of the way to not be seen, but not eager to trade with neighbors either.
Do they have a religion? Do they accept same sex marriages? I view the Centaurs as a shamanistic race that looks to the stars and nature for guidance. They don't worship any one diety but believe in greater powers. I don't know about marriages.

By -Strawberry Stroodle- in Centaur Information and Mythology: "Archive one: Definition of a Greek Centaur--any of a race of creatures fabled to be half human and half horse and to live in the mountains of Thessaly." Well, would you look at that. I was right from the start. rofl

It was good thinking on your part. Since in all actuality peace is but a dream to all living things. If Centaurs were to coexist with humans, there would be no doubt in my mind slavery would try to be enforced. There are always weak people or those forced into situations they don't like. Drama creates a sense of realism that you can't get shooting for perfection.

So what makes a centaur? A lower half of a horse and an upper half of a human. Do you think centaurs are an advanced or primitave race? Hm, they're supposedly primitive, but who knows. Where would centaurs live? I'm not sure, usually in forest and grassy areas but wherever they want really. XD Do they have their own language? Not as far as I know How well do you think theyd get along with other races? Most of us seem peaceful enough so sure. Do they have a relgion? Maybe they worship a Pegasus? Do they accept same sex marriages? Well this is odd, um yes? I know I do! blaugh

I'd figure centaurs to be mostly spiritual, and probably see certain gods of the past, or maybe others depending on the herd.
There could be lone centaurs or even some merchants. I don't think the cart idea would be bad to certain centaurs. The merchant ones (A couple I've played) didn't care about the cart, they had their own small carts. One I had had a small chest-like cart so others couldn't steal what she had.

Where would centaurs live? I was thinking we could make a gaia mythology about this. Like the dark centaurs are from the deep forest, and the bay are from open grass lands with some scrub, and the grey are from by the sea...dessert area. Do they have their own language? they speak latin, duh How well do you think theyd get along with other races? not at all. In fact they prefer to be with thier own kind. They hate humans. Especially Amazons. Do they have a relgion? I do believe they have a patrion god. Do they accept same sex marriages? no idea, but some myths centaurs are only men...so they have to find other species to have children with. They eat what regular people eat. Not hay. They are kinda nomadic they move from time to time. Theyer houses are pretty primitive...kinda like a hide tent, but roundish. They are great hunter, and will never ever give somebody a ride on thier back.
