The stallion gave a lopsided grin at her praise, but it fell short at the tension snapped taught between the father-daughter duo in a matter of seconds.
The village...? Where he'd had her necklace made?
"...if ya see someone in there that kinda looks like me. Don't talk to her."
His brain was working like a clock, gears grinding together. Who else could she need to...
Wait... Her mother? Did she have a mother?
He gazed between mare and stallion, utterly confused, but he said nothing.

He noticed the look on Tavarii's face and turned to look at him. "I'm guessing she hasn't told you about her mom yet." Whether she had or not made no difference. It wasn't like he was about to explain things he just wanted to know if it was not knowing that or something else that made him look like that.
Carmine gave her dad a sharp look telling him to shut his mouth. She figured it most likely wouldn't work but it never hurt to try.
With the look on his daughter's face an idea came to him. "If you want me to keep quiet then come on. You know as well as I do what will happen if we don't tell her." What Tavarii would likely never know was that the one they needed to tell wasn't Carmine's mother. No, the one that needed to know was essentially the mother of their bizarre little family, Lunathiel.

Ah, mothers.
His mother had a horn; something shiny that he'd admired greatly. He'd pranced out of his basket with the audacity of a broadway star, just knowing he'd have the golden spike on his forehead...only to look into the water and have his dreams dashed.
There went the life of the knight he'd dreamed of being through his time in the cramped purple basket.
Either way; Carmine had a mother. It was hard to believe, at least for this stallion, that something so beautiful had come from another mare...perhaps a winged one at that. Yes, his logic was odd.
He nosed Carmine's neck. "The sooner we get it over with, the sooner it's done?" he offered with a brief smile. "Besides, ya have me?"

She rolled her eyes and gave Tavarii a look that clearly said 'you're not helping'. Yet, despite her unwillingness, she had to admit he did have a point. Two points actually. She did have her goof even when her father was being a complete a** and she would have to get it over with eventually. The way he said it made sooner sound better the the alternative which was telling as she was dying in the distant future.
She sighed and bowed her head to rub against Tavarii. "I'll be back soon enough then goof..." She said sounding almost as though someone had just killed her pet. With a long sigh she took a step away from her boyfriend and smiled before turning to look at her dad. "Alright...I'll go...but if she gets mad you're takin the blame."
Dark was thoroughly impressed. How did he get her to agree without threats or bribes? She never agreed to anything unless there was something in it for her. "Alright, lead the way Carm." He said nodding his head to signal her to move. It was unspoken that he had agreed to her terms. Not that it really mattered he would be the one that got blamed no matter what happened.
Carmine nodded slowly and started to walk away like she was going to her funeral. When in reality it was likely to be her father's. "Bye for now Tav." She said before stepping into the trees and vanishing from sight.
With his daughter gone he looked back at Tavarii. "That has to take some skill." He said referring to the way he was able to get Carmine to agree so easily. "Maybe...you'll teach me some day." With that he nodded and trotted off to catch up with his sulky daughter.

Tav's ears flicked back at the tone of voice she used; like a beaten-down child. He nuzzled her and nipped at a braid in her tail as she moved away. "I'll wait for you, Angel," he smiled, watching her disappear before his attention was turned towards the violet-haired troublemaker that was her father.
Skill? Teach him? Teach him what? Tavarii's head tilted to one side, but Dark had already trotted off after Carmine. The violet stallion stood there for a moment, still pondering what skill he could have that a thief could want. With a shrug of his shoulders, he turned around and wandered back into the forest.
To wait.
