Maxwell cut in, evidently having rehearsed the answer many times. "Don't worry about it. We'll make him do it no matter what."
With the shutting of the door, he placed a soft paw on 'Mena's shoulder. "Take care of the critter 'till his time is due."
"Gyasi!" He said, quite brightly. "Let's go, giraffe." The metal slid open again, like the glass doors of a busy mall. "Aaaalliteration!"

Gyasi looked over as the two returned. Mena looked as she had when she'd left; if he had any doubts, any at all, they were easily dismissed. Taking Isoke's hand, he pressed a kiss to the back of it, "I'll be back soon, 'soke." He moved towards Maxwell, brow arching in amusement. "You're excitable," he observed with a good-natured smile, "I prefer this side of you more than the one moping in your bedroom."
Absently, he tugged his rolled up sweater higher on his arm, preparing for what he assumed would be coming. "Anything special I should know?"

"Emo is all the rage," he said as he playfully pushed Gyasi in. "Drives the ladees crazy with the mystique, but you wouldn't know. Oop, that was not-PC."
"On the other hand, we'll drain you of blood and send a clone out." The door clicked close again.
"No we won't, it's too much of a bother." Maxx stood prepared, with a swab and a new syringe in his hand. "Just that we're taking about a centimetre worth of your blood and I assure you this is sterile."
"But what am I talking about," He beamed, patting the steel chair. "you're a logical one Gyasi, and I'm sure you trust me. Take a seat, it'll be fast and much less complicated than m-preg."

The giraffe put a hand on the shorter Hyte's head, patting him in a near playful manner. "For all your eagerness to please the ladies, I'm disappointed that 'lith isn't here." Gyasi grinned a touch, following the jaguar without so much as a protest at the clone comment. Was it possible? Of course. Was it likely? Of course not. At least, he'd like to think so, as he caught sight of Maxx.
"Good day sir," he inclined his head politely, gaze sweeping over the chair and general appearance of the 'lab.' It definitely looked more like it's purpose was a cold locker for less confident Hytes. Gyasi chuckled to himself, tucking his tail around his side as he took a seat in the chair, mindful of his legs and trying not to kick Maxx while getting seated.
Smiling, the lightly patterned male gave a delicate shrug. "It's just blood. If I'm going to be afraid of something, I'd prefer it not to be something that keeps me alive." He did managed to look a little confused at the term 'm-preg,' but chose not to comment on it. He'd ask about it later.

With a flourish of Maxx's hand, the jaguar moved to fiddle with the velcro strap again. "You're very pleasing, Gyasi." The labcoat-clad not-quite-scientist said, taking time to swipe the crook of his elbow carefully. "I do hope that your offspring inherits some of your wonderful attitude to the world. Because you know," his eyes narrowed and he located his vein exactly. "Serenity begets overall zen, and if you panic like...certain people do, inevitably anything that happens will be terrifying. But -" the deed was done, the blood tinged purple by the blue flourescent. "- everything is quiet and smooth with you, isn't it?"
"He reacts like everything is quiet and smooth anyway." Maxwell had gotten a little better with the smiley-faced plaster. "So it's no fun." After he pressed down the ends, he smacked the giraffe's exposed thigh. "There we go. Ain'cha glad Maxx is doing it?"

Watching Gyasi leave once Mena came back out, he sighed a little and took in calming deep breaths. Mena came out fine and so would Gyasi, so he would be fine next right? Right.
Rufflign his own hair, Isoke jsut leaned agaisnt the hall as he closed his eyes for a moment. He was determined not to get scared, Maxx was there with Maxwell so he knew he surely wouldn't let the feline eat one of his creations... right?

"That's a very high praise. Thank you kindly," he smiled to Maxx, his eyes shifting between the needle at the administrator. A quiet sting of pain, and the worst of it was over; truly, he'd had greater pains as a child, stumbling and running into things as he had. "I suppose I simply don't see the reason to be up in arms over every small infraction," he continued at length, tilting his head to regard Maxwell.
He actually looked startled at the playful smack; the giraffe was certain he'd never get used to Maxwell being as such around him. "I believe that if you were to be the one to take it, Maxwell, our arms wouldn't be your point of choice." Gyasi was only partially joking, his expression one of faint entertainment. Lifting his free hand, he pat Maxwell's back. "Perhaps one day you will have children too, and we will have the joy of raising them as you have us."

He was about to pull a smart-a** reply about 'arms' but Gyasi's next line had him about as startled, if not more, than the giraffe was. His face warped from shock to horror to utter terror in slow-motion, which had his owner grinning in great malice.
He breathed in and composed himself with a definitive answer.
"No."
A tap and the door slid open again.
As he jogged Gyasi out, he whispered in his ear: "But I'll be sure to hit on any daughters you might have."

That actually made Gyasi laugh. It wasn't something the giraffe did often, and was under control in a few moments, but it was laughter all the same. "Oh my," he chortled while he stood, giving a slight bow to Maxx. "It was a pleasure to meet you; thank you again." He thought to add a request to be gentle with his Isoke, but decided against it; he didn't want to embarrass his best friend.
Following Maxwell, he couldn't help but smiling knowingly, leaning down to whisper back, "You have my blessings. I already know you're all bark and no bite." Before he could be proved wrong or otherwise mauled for his remark, the giraffe entered the room with the other three and made his way immediately towards the springbok. "You see, my dearest?" he spread his arms and turned in a circle, smiling widely. "One piece. And not so much as faint."
He wrapped his arms around Isoke to steal a quick hug, pressing an equally quick kiss to the other's tousled hair. "I'll be here waiting for you, 'soke." Releasing him, he gave a gentle pat on Isoke's fluffy-tailed bottom, smiling all the while.

Isoke's eyes lit up a little upon seeing Gyasi return, sighing a little in relief. He latched onto him as soon as he came close, nothing bothering to ask what Maxwell had said to him. “You seem fine...” He mumbled a little into the others shoulder, nuzzling him gently. His face lit up brightly at the pat on his bum, his tail fluffing up a little. Looking up at the giraffe, he just nodded and headed towards Maxwell.
“Welp, off we go right?” he smiled weakly.

It was then that Maxwell made up his mind to definitely hit on Gyasi's daughters if he had any.
"'Hup 'soke," he bumped his fist against the springbok's shoulder and grabbed him by it. "Let's make you a man!"
Evidently the jaguar was getting more and more perfunctory as he slapped his paw onto the sensor pad and dragged Isoke into the dim blue glow of the lab.

Taking one last fleeting look at Gyasi, he looked at Maxwell and nodded a little. “Yup… though the last time I checked I was at least of the male persuasion” he grinned, trying to lighten up a little. His ears flicked a little nervously, as if he was ready to bolt if things got sketchy. No, he was sure everything would be fine, Gyasi would have said something if it had been bad right?

"Tsktsk Isoke," The familiar sliding of the door blocked off the springbok's potential escape route. "You can be a boy, and you can be a man. Now you are about to become a man, non?"
"Spronking season, isn't it?" Maxx winked, tapping the steel chair with the body of the syringe. "Or is it over already, now you've got your mate?"

The springbok startled when the door slid shut behind him, telling him now there was no turning back. Breathing in deeply, he just smiled at Maxwell before looking over at Maxx. Isoke’s face turned bright pink at the others question, walking over to sit himself down.
”I suppose it would be over for me” he smiled nervously, itching an ear as he eyed the needle. His stomach flopped around a little as he tried to swallow down the instinct to bolt.
“Sooo….” Isoke started uneasily, his hands bunched at the knee of his pants. “This is quick and easy right?”

"Why yes it is! If you let him, that is."
"Hi." Maxwell flashed his fangs.
"Wow, you know...you can't imagine how tiring it is for me to -" Maxx pushed the piston up and down. " - take your blood, you know? Twice, I've done it twice, my goodness it's sore now. You know what doctors go through, Isoke? 'Course I don't expect you to. Maxwell, please."
"No problem boss." The syringe switched hands and the velcro strap was secured by the owner instead. "Now how do I work this, Maxx?" "Stick 'er in, suck 'er up."
The glint off the needle was deeply ominous.
