ooc;; do we need a few cub-characters? I don't mind making a cub-character. Just so that the den-watchers aren't taking care of only APCs. razz

bic;;Sahari nodded swiftly, her ear twitching as Calyn settled down nearby. Turning her attention to Tami, the small Sand-Cat looked troubled. "It all depends on who's trying to win the position," she whispered in a low tone, not wanting the kits' sensitive ears to pick up such a foul topic. "They're not usually too bad, but what with the recent events..." She trailed off, her pale green eyes sparking with an earthy fire.

"Indeed," Bianca added to Sahari's statement. She ruffled her fur to let air in and dry her damp figure standing strongly at the den opening.

"Fighting is a neccessary evil. But too often it is that cats are offended by their rank. I know that as den-watchers it is not a fighting race, but we do need to know how to protect. If anyone were to challenge my position in a fight, and I was defeated, I would come tot he fact that they would protect the cubs better. And that is what is important the fades from the minds of many in our pride. We need the best of the best."

Konya yawned and stoped cleaning the cub, she layed her head on her paws and closed her eyes to relax. When she did this some of the cubs started to climb on her to rest or play. She smiled at them. "Carefull little ones, don't get hurt."

((Hi everyone. Sorry for my absence, you've done well *is proud*. But I see lots of tiny posts. Three sentences once in a while are okay, but not all the time ^^. Waveh_xo, nice work! Very well-written...but the color is so light! I'm having trouble reading it. ^^; The cub character is a yes, I was thinking of adding a category but I want most characters to be functioning members of the pride, not den-confined cubs.))

"You speak wisely Bianca." Brindle stepped through the tall grass, Zephre in her wake. "That is the nature of a strong pride. Fighting, but not ruthless killing. Nor cowardly sneak attacks." Here she was referring to the assassination of Kurros. "At least this sort of conflict is natural for us."

Zephre stepped out from behind her and bowed his head in respect to the white tigress.
"Forgive the intrusion Bianca," he said softly, poking his head into the main den. The light, new scent of young cubs came to greet him, along with the scents of each adult cat in the den. "I just can't seem to stay away from the dens can I?"
Upon hearing his voice the older of the denned cubs leaped up. "Its Zephre! Its Zephre!" They chorused, rushing forward and tackling his legs.
Most bounced off harmlessly and Zephre shook with mirth.

Brindle shot the healer another strange look, then sighed.
"Bianca, as leaders I'm afraid we cannot avoid the choosing forever, they will be expecting us."

Konya chuckled at the cubs reaction to zephre. "Welcome, both of you." One of the cubs triped while going to zephre, she walked over to her and picked her up. "carefull now." She sat it back down and nuged her toward him. "Thank you" She ran to jump on zephre with the others.

((welcome back ^ ^))

((for the cubs, you could always just make it so that in order to play a cub you have to have another, normal person. So there'll be regular members too.))

The two cubs laying on Tami jumped up, drawing a faint, somewhat annoyed 'mrow' as they scrambled over her head to pounce on Zephre. "I feel so loved..." she muttered under her breath, watching everything for the moment.

Calyn looked up, supressing a sigh. She knew she should be going as well. "What are the chances of them starting without us?" she asked, having a feeling the answer would be 'slim to none', or something along those lines.

"Just as long as they don't threaten the kits while challenging us," Sahari muttered darkly, her whiskers twitching as she thought over Bianca's words. Would she give up her job as Den-Watcher if someone better came along? For a moment, she didn't think she would, but then she realized that Bianca had a point - it was for the kits' safety, after all.

As Zephre and Brindle entered the den, setting the cubs charging towards the white lion. "Zephre, Brindle," she smiled in greeting, knowing the Healer would not be able to see. The Sand Cat watched a** the cubs scrambled off Tami, earning a sarcastic mutter from the Healer's apprentice. For a moment, Sahari was sure Tami would harm the cubs but relaxed a second after her body had tensed, realizing that was a stupid suspicion.

"Bianca," Sahari called, glancing over to her leader. "I'll be staying behind with Konya while you're at the Choosing, right?"

Bianca nodded at Brindle's comment and then bowed respectfully to Zephre. "Zephre, you know you are always welcome here. You bring much joy to the little ones."

At the mention of the Choosing a few cubs bounded over to give Bianca a bit of a goodbye. All of the cubs were suddenly playful and running about the room from cat to cat, excited about all their company.

"Yes, I shall be going now. And yes, Sahari, you and Konya are in charge. make sure to keep and eye on Sophia. She has been quiet the little panther, trying to climb the walls every chance she gets. Daniel has a smal sneeze as well. I think hes been obcessivly sniffing every bug and piece of dirt that rolls into the den," Bianca stated softly before looking to Brindle and Calyn, ready to go.

Konya nodded a goodbye to them. "Good luck, we'll do our best to look after the little ones Bianca." Two of the cubs started to climb on her and tug on her ear, she just smiled at them. 'I wana play.' "I've been playing wiht you two all day, see if Zephre will tell you a story." 'Yay!' The two cubs ran and tackled zephre. Koya smiled at them again and layed her head on her paws. The two cubs jumped up at zephre. 'story! story!' More cubs joined them.

Calyn got to her feet, going to the mouth of the cave. She stared out, topaz eyes dark. She didn't want to go. She didn't want the choosing to happen, much less have to watch it, to be there. "I'll meet you two there." she said softly, slipping outside and breaking into a run. She didn't go towards the choosing, instead heading away from everyone. She just needed to run, to get away from everything. She'd go back, but not immediatly. She didn't pay as much attention as she should to what was going on around her, instead focusing on running, on making herself go faster, quieter.

Tami watched the young cross-breed go, glancing to Brindle and Bianca. She didn't say anything, letting two cubs play on and around her. She just hoped Calyn would be alright and wouldn't get herself hurt.

Sahari rose to her feet, and padded over towards the mouth of the den. "Farewell, and stay safe," she murmured, dipping her head towards the felines who were leaving. The small she-cat turned her brilliant gaze upon Calyn, watching the young huntress take her leave. Her ear twitched; she knew that Calyn was under a lot of stress, more so than most of the other members of the Pride, because of her heritage. She hoped that Calyn would be careful.
