"Ahh, ohh....Look at it...." Tori smiled, wrinkling his nose happily for a moment. "Thanks so much, Chao..And Reid!" The last word Tori called out a little louder than the rest, so he could be sure that the Mishap could hear.

Wycliff blinked several times, instinctivly hugging the little plush close. "Giiiffttt..." He said slowly, looking at Reid, then down at the plush, and then back up at Reid. "Thhaaa....nn....Thannn...." He pursed his lips, trying to say the word he always heard his Guardian saying when things like this happened to him.

((OMG, this is so late, I am sorry. ;_; I was/am busyyyyy....;___; ))

((hehe, s'ok Tori, I understand -hugs- ))

"You're welcome," Chao said with a fond smile, watching the Mishaps happily.

"Ra! Gif! Li' Wy!" Reid chirped happily, not even needing to hear the words in their completion as he'd latched onto the tone Wycliff had taken and was glowing warmly and giving the kitty plush Wycliff had given him happily because of the fact the other Mishap had evidently liked the gift as well.

((sorry to cut this a little short Tori, I just really want to update Reid's journal u.u ))

Chao's eyes flit from the Mishaps to the clock near the bed and she let out a small squeak of alarm. "Oh haeven we were supposed to meet Rico an hour ago!" she gave an apologetic look to Tori, "thank you so much for the visit and the gift. I'm sorry to rush off, but my brother's going to have my head on a platter. Reid! We've gotta meet uncle Rico!" she called, heading into the room and picking up her son and Wycliff, handing the older boy to Tori with an apologetic smile.

Reid made a face and struggled slightly in his Mu's grasp, clinging to his kitty with his free arm he waved with another, "bai Wy!" he called as Chao clicked their door shut.

"It was great meeting you both, I hope we can meet up again," Chao said brightly and waved as she headed off down the hall.

[October 11th, 2005]

[A symphony of tumbling clothes.]

Participants: Reid, Chao, Malachi, Rabid, and sever plush dragons.

The reasonably small room really made for a nice place to nap. The machines rumbled gently in the background, filled with a new load of jeans, cloth diapers, and shirts. The sound didn't bother the napping Chao or the awake Reid, who, had snatched back the wonderous things known as headphones and was relaxing against his mother's rising and falling chest, humming brokenly to the tune playing from it and watching the machines vibrate softly.

Rabid carefully made her way down to the laundry room door, balancing Malachi on her hip and holding a horribly bloodstained white shirt at an arm's length. She heard the machines humming and peeked in carefully, trying to see if anyone was there. She recognized a napping girl as one of Jizzy's friends from the picnic. She slowly made her way to the top of a machine, placing Malachi down on it and slathering bleach over the bloodstain. She then noticed Reid and smiled, waving slightly.

Malachi saw Crazy Hair Lady wave and turned to see who she was looking at. Upon seeing a Mishap only slightly larger than himself, he grinned.

"Bah!" he cried and waved.

Blinking, the Mishap returned the waves in kind, accidently dislodging a headphone in the process.

"Ra-ra?" he questioned, still waving, not recognizing either of the two new people.

Chao stirred under him at the loud cry, blinking one eye open and blearily waving to the duo. "Hallo there..." she murmured, yawning and rubbing at her eyes.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Rabid smiled apologetically, "Hello, err...heh?" There didn't seem to be any polite way to ask what someone's name was, especially someone you'd seen before.

"Bah," Malachi screwedup his face, and then grinned and pointed to himself, "Ike." He didn't recognize the other Mishap, but figured he might as well be nice. Everyone else he'd met seemed nice enough.

"Ike," Reid repeated slowly, trying very hard to get it right the first time then smiled when he succeeded.

"No, it's fine, sorry for being in your way," Chao scrunched up her legs and gave the other woman a curious look, she looked quite familar, but she couldn't place her. Oh well. "Ah... where're my manners, my name's Chao and this is-"

"Reid," the Mishap stated proudly, pointing back to himself, he was happy he'd finally gotten his own name down.

"You're not in my way. I'm Rabid...well...that my nickname," Rabid laughed at herself momentarily, but then frowned, "I hate to ask, but do you know what can get the blood out of this thing?"

"Ee!" Malachi shrieked happily, "Reh...reeeee....raaaaai." He huffed, frustrated.

"Reid? EE!"

Rabid gave Malachi a quick smile. He was speaking fairly well for someone so young, even if all he could say were names.

"Blood hrm?" Chao asked and moved Reid off her lap, onto the floor looking at the stain and grimacing, "ugh, has it set yet?" she asked looking around for what they'd need to get it out.

Reid giggled lightly, clapping two hands, immediately liking the tone of the other mishap he nodded, "Reid n'Ike." He beamed and suddenly looked back down at the headphone in his hand as the music swelled to a chorus and raised the lone headphone up, offering it to Malachi. Maybe he'd like the sounds too?

"Naw. Just happened," Rabid smushed her mouth to one side, "Squirrelboy, here, yanked the n****e off his bottle. Terror ensued." She too glanced around the room, not quite sure what she was looking for.

"Reidnike," Malachi said, as if it were a single word. He took the headphones and held them an arm's length away, his large ears twitching. The sound coming from the random foamy things was quite pleasing.

"Ooooooo..." he cooed and leaned down, attempting to share the noise with Reid.

"A carnivorious squirrel?" Chao asked, glancing over at the two Mishaps before sighting and pulling down a cleaner of some sort. She began to fill up a near by sink with water, dumping in two scoops of the power and watching the water become cloudy. "And freshness is good, easier to get out the stain and such."

Reid leant up, tilting his head to better hear the music and smiled, he really liked this bit of music. "Ike..." what was that word? "li-like?" he ventured, stuttering slightly. He was pretty sure that was what his mother said when she put on a new song for him to listen to.

"He was dubbed a vampiric albino squirrel child of doom his first day in existance," Rabid gave a single laugh, and then turned back to her shirt, "Yeah. Thanks." She gave a smile and watched the water, vaguely amused and planning to keep away from the "I did it myself" conversation.

Malachi was surprised by Reid's larger vocabulary and grinned.

"Iiiiike liiiiiike," he said and nodded. Hey, the words weren't too different! He'd have to remember that.

Chao laughed quietly, "wow, 'of doom', huh?" she repeated, feeling vaguely like a parrot as any thoughts of how or why Rabid would have been present on the day of the Mishap's birth skimming over her head, possibly a sign that she wasn't as she thought she was.

Reid smiled and glowed warmly, glad that the other Mishap was enjoying the sounds as much as he was. From the headphones the last few notes sounded and the song came to an end and the iPod quietly powered down.

"Ra?" Reid asked, poking at the headphones after a moment when no music rose to take the last song's place.

"Yes. Doomy-doom," Rabid held her now un-bandaged hand out to Chao, showing her the small scar, "It runs in the family." Yeah, so maybe it was fun to make fun of herself.

Malachi gave a soft growl at the sudden silence. He shook the headphones violently for a moment, before realizing that it was doing nothing.

"Bah!" he yelled and looked up toward Crazy Hair Lady and Reid-watcher.

Rabid looked down at Malachi and the headphones, then shooting Chao a questioning glace.

Chao grimaced, "very much of the doomy doom," she agreed, examining the cut, "I guess I should be happy Reid probably won't aquire fangs and just keeps me up all night."

"Mu..." Reid whined, crawling over and tugging on his mother's pant leg.

"Hrm?" the teen queriered, glancing at Reid, then to Malachi, before plucking up her iPod and gently taking the headphones from Malachi, "ah, it seems you guys got to the end of the playlist." Nudging her son slightly towards Malachi she wrapped the headophone cord around the mp3 player and put it in her pocket. "Why don't you two play a game and listen to it later?"

"I don't sleep much. It's in my nature," Rabid smiled and looked down at Malachi, "Yeah. Go play. A little excersize won't kill you."

"Bah," Malachi nodded and smiled to Chao. He turned his attention to Reid, cocking his head to one side. He didn't know many games...

"I wish I could sleep less while still functioning above zombie level," Chao muttered, pulling herself up onto one of the dryers. "I think life with a 'full nocturnal habits' equipped Mishap would be easier that way."

Reid pursed his lips and thought, he didn't know many games either, only the one's his siblings had taught him. Looking around he smiled, sighting his mother's bag and crawled over, pulling out two dragon plushes. They could play with these! "Ike," he chirped, offering one to the other Mishap.

"The undead aren't so bad," Rabid smiled and lifted herself onto a washer beside Chao, "but not having to sleep does help. Ike naps throughout the day, really. I can't quite figure him out..."

Malachi crawled up beside Reid and took the plushie, examining it closely. What was he supposed to do? He thought for a moment before making the dragon walk up to Reid, creating little growling noises in his throat and giggling.

Chao breifly had a flash of the previous halloween and shuddered, "well, no, some of them aren't. But those whose brains have leaked out of their skulls are, and that's probably how I'd be functioning." She looked over to the two Mishaps, tilting her head. "Well, Malachi is part varmpire right? So that might explain the naps during the day? Thankfully Reid sleeps during the day, while I'm at school and hangs out with my others kids/my brother. Then I can usually catch some sleep until the sun goes down and he wakes up."

Reid giggled and manuvered his dragon about, growling back at Ike's before he made it hop slightly, poucing on the other Mishap's dragon.

"Yeah. I've been lucky enough to not come across any. Many," Rabid corrected herself, and then turned toward the mishaps and smiled, "Yeah. Or he could just be tired. He's only one third Vampiric." She kicked her feet slighty. Thus far, Chao was quite nice. It was quite a lot easier to make friends within this group of people than out in the rest of the world.

Malachi gave an exaggerated gasp before quickly pulling his dragon from under Reid's, placing it on the other mishap's head and giggling.

Chao grimaced, "did you go the bash Gambino held last year on Halloween? Gods, there were brains on the floor," she shuddered, "it was like being trapped in Shaun of the Dead or something."

She stretched, listening to things crack and pop, grimacing as something slid against something else painfully before flopping back into a laying posistion, quietly glad that the guardians of the Mishaps seemed to be as easy to get along with as the Tale Authors she'd met. There were any boundaries that came from wondering how much the others knew or whether they thought that four armed children were just mutations and should be kept away.

"I wonder why so much of Gaia's population is oblivious to things like the Mishaps and magic...?" she mused out loud.

Reid gave a triumphant roar, though it came out a bit less furocious than he'd intended. As Ike's dragon retailiated he gasped then made gurgling and groaning noises as he shuffled dragon under Ike's until it could pry it's head loose and make a quick retreat. Turning around he faced Ike and growled lowly, making his dragon plush paw at the ground.

"I did," Rabid sighed, "but it lost interest when I found I couldn't be turned undead...or that the vials didn't work. In-body things being out-of-body doesn't bother me a whole lot. Call me morbid if you like." She snerked and leaned against the wall behind her.

Malachi giggled again before placing his dragon opposite Reid's, growling and moving it from side to side. Alright, so maybe it looked more like some sort of odd mating dance, but that didn't phase him much.

"Ugh. Then from now on Morbid shall be your name, and you shall be Morbid forevermore," Chao intoned solemnly.

Reid giggled at the dance like movements and let out a small roar as he made his dragon charge at Ike's.

"Morbid? Heh, alright. Rabid and Morbid. Sweet," Rabid laughed and brought her legs up meditation style. She looked toward Reid and Ike, "awww"ing softly.

Malachi gave a guttural growl and made his dragon charge forward also, smashing his's head into the other's.

Chao laughed and looked over towards the Mishaps, 'aww'ing as well. "They're so cute when they're tiny."

Reid gasped as the dragons clashed and manuvered his so that it went flying back from Ike's, accidently losing his grip and causing the poor plush to be thrown halfway across the room.

"Let's just hope it stays that way," Rabid smiled and sighed. It was hard to watch them grow day by day. So far, Ike seemed to be making friends fairly easily, but it was hard to tell what he'd be like later on.

Malachi gasped and dropped to all fours, crawling over to Reid's plush with his own still clutched in his fist. He grabbed Reid's dragon with his free hand and crawled back, waddling slightly.

Chao nodded in silent agreement.

Reid smiled his glow strengthening happily and he crawled forward, meeting Ike halfway, taking his dragon plush gingerly in one hand and giving it a hug as an apology for throwing it.

"So...how's life treating you?" Rabid was hungry for conversation.

Malachi smiled and sat where he was, letting go of his dragon plush and, realizing he'd squished it in his trek, gave it a hug too. It morphed back to its usual form quite quickly.

Chao tilted her head, how was she? "Erm, well pretty good I suppose, save for the suddenly odd sleep schedule and school. You?"

Reid tilted his head and crawled a bit further so that he was sitting next to Ike and gave the other boy's dragon a fond pat, it'd been a good game. Yawning he leant against the other Mishap, using his shouler as a pillow while giving his a quizzical 'what now?' sort of look.

"Well, that's good," Rabid thought for a moment, "No better or worse than usual, I guess."

Malachi looked down at Reid and huffed, thinking. A small smile crept across his face. He slowly made his way to Crazy Hair Lady's bag and reached in, removing a handful of multicoloured candies. He returned to Reid and held his hand out, offering them to him.

"Eh?" he asked, as if it were a real word.

Chao nodded then leant over, suddenly remembering the shirt they'd been trying to save. Peering at the sink she turned off a tap and poked at the garment inside, "looks like the bleach and such is working.

"Eh?" Reid repeated, looking curiously at the multicolored candies. Taking one he delicately sniffed at it, then gave Malachi a curious look, unsure of what to exactly do with the strange, good smelling thing.

"...and stuff? What else is in there?" Rabid leaned over too, although not able to see much of anything.

Malachi grinned, proud to be the knowing one for once. He grabbed one end of a red candy's wrapper in his teeth. He grabbed the other end with his free hand and pulled. The candy barrel rolled and dropped into his lap. He picked it up and put it in his mouth, smiling.

"Water mostly, and... everything that water intails? And time, time is helpful," Chao replied with a nod.

Reid blinked, watching Malachi closely to make sure he got everything. Once the other boy was done he carefully followed suit with his own, green colored candy; unwrapping it with two hands then quickly grabbing the candy with a third and popped it into his mouth. With a quiet murmur of contentment and a smile at the taste he reflexively placed two his hands together, crumpling the paper with the result of a crackle of noise, causing his already warm glow to strengthen a bit.

"You may have just saved an entire wardrobe," Rabid smiled widely at Chao, "I owe you one." This had been the first accident involving highly-staining liquid...but Rabid was fairly certain that it wouldn't be the last.

Malachi watched Reid unwrap his candy and cocked his head to one side at the noise the wrapper made. He dropped the rest of the candies on the floor and took the wrapper of his between his hands, smashing them together to create the crinkling sound. He giggled slightly and repeatedly crumpled the little translucent square.

"Oo! Do I get some kind of shiny medal then?" Chao asked with a grin and a raise of her eyebrows before regarding the sink and letting out some of the water, pulling out the once stained sleeve.

"Seriously though, don't mention it. I have been taught in the wise ways of stain removal and am merely glad to pass on that wisedom."

Grinning Reid began to rapidly mash and unmash his paper, then slowed down, then began to alternate; fast, slow, fast, fast, fast, slow.

"Actually, yes," Rabid bent over the side of the washer, reaching into her bag and pulling out a little pad of gold star stickers, sticking one on Chao's sleeve, "There." She gave a childish grin and laughed.

Malachi rolled the wrapper between his hands, finding it to make a slightly different noise than smashing it. He alternated between the two sounds, listening intently to the noises he and Reid were making. His ears twitched and swiveled.

Swish. Crush. Swishswish. Smash.

Rabid turned toward the boys, arching an eyebrow.

Laughing warmly Chao mock saluted Rabid, "I will wear it will pride, Sir, Ma'am, Sir."

Reid nodded lightly, slowly down a bit between his alteration, between a faster and a slower pace of crunching and giggled at he began to fill in the gasps between Malachi's sounds.

Crunch.
Swish. Crrruuuunnnnch. Swishswishswish.crunch. Crunchcrunch. Swiiiishcrunchswish.

Chao followed Rabid's line of vision and frowned, shivering suddenly, "Rabid, do you suddenly feel the sight of impending doom falling on you too?"

Malachi giggled at the noise. So it wasn't as good as the black head-things, but it was still decent. He then looked up toward Crazy Hair Lady and waved, still rolling his wrapper of the floor, not wanting to stop the sound.

"Oh, I do," Rabid shook her head, "Gods, I do..." Having a musical child wasn't what scared her. It was the great amount of things a child could find musical.

She made a mental note to hide anything made of metal.

Reid grabbed another of the candies with his free hands, unwrapping it and offering it to his dragon, who was now quietly situated in his lap then adding yet another bout of crackling sound to their song. Grinning he looked up towards his mother.

"Glad it's not just me then," Chao's thoughts had immediately gone in a similar direction, dancing along with a great many mental images of toddlers and children with pots and pans and metal ladles. She cringed in response to Reid's grin.

Malachi peered at Reid's new candy and subsequently unwrapped all of the others, tossing the candies themselves aside. He placed the wrappers in front of him, smashing them into the floor and rolling his palm over them. He giggled crazily at the new noise.

"Yup," Rabid watched the mishaps with morbid curiosity. This whole event could either go in a very good or very bad direction.

Reid giggled and leant over, sliding one of his wrappers against one of Malachi's, letting out quiet "ooo" when another new sound was made.

"So..." Chao said, glancing over at Rabid, "Gambino's nice this time of year. I'm sure no one would notice if we went on a 'vacation' without them until they'd figured out how to carry a tune, right?"

Malachi quickly shoved all of the wrappers into a pile and pushed down on them with both hands. Another sound! He giggled and stepped back, allowing Reid room to try.

"I agree completely," Rabid arched and eyebrow and her face took on a sincerely terrified expression, "Remind me to burn everything that's not padded."

Reid quickly crawled forward, adding his own wrappers to the pile and gleefully pushed down on them, laughing at the new sound. He scooted over so that Malachi could sit next to him and put his hands over it. Maybe they'd get another one if they both pushed down at the same time?

"Only if you allow me to burn my stuff with you, what'll we do about the metal things? That stuff doesn't burn very well."

Malachi moved over gleefully and glanced up at Reid. He nodded and then pressed his hands down into the pile...

"We blow them up. No! Wait! Acid. Acid is good..."

Reid followed suit, almost in time with Malachi, grinning when a chorus of noises was born.

"Acid works on everything! But explosions are prettier to watch...."

Rabid cringed at the noise, "We douse them in acid and set them aflame. Practical and pretty."

Malachi giggled again and began crawling toward Crazy Hair Lady's bag to retrieve some more candies.

"Oh, God!" Rabid cried out and dipped over the side of the washer, grabbing her son and picking him up.

Malachi huffed and wiggled, but then went still. He showed his contempt for being picked up by folding his ears backward.

"The best of both worlds!" Chao agreed with a laughed, nodding as she hopped from the dryer and retrieved her own Mishap, boucning him in her arms lightly.

Reid wriggled and whined lowly, glaring up at his mother as his glow abruptly diminshed from the happy warm light it'd been before.

Chao did her best to ignore her Mishap and glanced at her watch, grimacing, "seems we've been MIA for quite a long time, eep."

Rabid slid off the washer and grabbed her shirt. She turned to Chao and smiled, "I guess we'd better be off. I hope to see you again though, eh? Don't be a stranger."

Malachi, now feeling that they were going to leave, sniffed and waved to Reid, frowning.

"Bah, Reid."

"Mhm, same here. Feel free to stop by our room any time you like," though really, living more or less in the same building would probably make for more than one run ins in the not too distrant future, even if they didn't purposely visit. With a last wave Chao shifted Reid into a more comfortable carrying posistion and headed for the door.

Reid sighed and waved back sadly, "bah Ike," he called in return as they left the laundry room.

Rabid followed close behind and made her way up to her room. She and Malachi still hadn't finished their meal, thanks to the little incident, and she'd gotten quite sidetracked. Not that she minded.

Malachi clung to Crazy Hair Lady's damp shirt and carried it himself, giving it a sniff and sneezing. He made a mental note to find Reid again some time in the not-so-distant future.

Lust Spells

Participants
Jizzy typing in black
Chao typing in dark green.
Rico typing in dark blue.
Deimos typing in dark red.
Reid typing in brown.

Jizzy was, in short, a rather nervous wreck as she slowly ambled up the soft hill that led to Chao's house. Her thoughts kept wandering to her cross bearing demonic child, then to the violet knee high skirt she was wearing, then to the thin top she wore under her gently purple camisole to shield her from the cold night air. Her mind was doing anything, anything to keep her thoughts off of what awaited her at the top of the hill for if she actually though, her nerves would surely snap.

The warmly lit house was quite a mask, making it so that the chaos within the home was hidden from the world.

Chao watched on as her brother flit around the room, bouncing Reid on her lap, listening with one ear to the music playing from one of her headphones while Reid remained happily attached to the other one.

"How many courses are you making Rico?"

The slightly flustered young man looked over, "courses?"

"Yes, it looks like it must be bordering on ten."

"No!" looking around the semi-frantic teen tucked several strands of hair around a curved horn. "I mean... you think the chicken was a bit much?"

"No, I think the steak, soup, salad, chocolate pie, potatoes, lamb, lasagna, macaroni and cheese, odd choice by the way, and the rest of it makes it too much."

Rico looked about before clumping slightly and quietly muttered, "The macaroni and cheese is for the kids."

"Will Mother come with Dei and Ai and Chao?" Deimos asked his mother as he almost bounced his way up the hill.

"No.. You get to go on your own with them.." She said softly and sheepishly. He just had to bring that up didn't he.

"Oh.." Deimos said in a low tone.. He had a feeling what this was about.. Rico was staying to..

"Promise me you'll be good, and listen to Chao, alright?" She said, moving a strand of hair so that it fell over the cross hidden in Deimos' forehead. It didn't hide it, not by a long shot, but it made the demonic child feel better.

"I promise.." He said softly almost sighing as his mother knocked twice on the front door.

Chao looked over as the door was knocked and Rico quickly ran about, putting the last touches on things and plucked her headphones away from Reid, who frowned and grumbled at her.

"Not now Reid, Deimos and Jizzy are here," she said, ruffling his hair and headed towards the door, opening it and smiling at the duo. "Hey Deimos! Heya Jizzy! You look wonderful, hun," the teen said, giving the girl a brief hug and letting Reid down, nudging him towards Deimos, "Rico's in the kitchen."

"Deimos spotted the softly glowing child a bit of his resentment faded and he ruffled Reid's hair in greeting. "How Reid? You fine? Mean Jabir no get you, yes?" He said the last sentence with a tinge of worry in his tone. He hated having to bear this cross.

Jizzy's cheeks flushed at the compliment and she hugged Chao back weakly. "I'm afraid I'm still terribly nervous.." She said as she passed her, striding slowly towards the kitchen. She knocked softly on the door, peering her head inside, her hair held back by a small pin.. "Hello?" She said softly..

Chao smiled and gave her friend a thumbs up for good luck and leant back against the wall, allowing Reid and Deimos to get reacquainted.

Reid made a face as his hair was ruffled yet again but smiled at the older boy, "Re' ki," he managed out, scrunching his face together as he attempted to string together the words.

Shaking his head he remembered the way they'd parted last, after that mean, harsh, cold, awful sounding man had boomed at them and gave the older boy a concerned look, patting him on the cheeks with two of his hands as if checking for injury, "Dei ki?"

Rico had just set his apron on the rack and turned at the sound, "oh! Er-hell there Jizzy," he said rubbing a hand against the back of his neck and smoothing down his wine colored dress shirt self consciously. "How're you doing?"

"Dei.. could be better." He said, carefully shifting his hair to display the cross Jabir had placed on his forehead. "It e gone soon though.." He said, slightly cheering up at the thought of being rid of this infernal thing. "Reid lucky Jabi no get them." He said nodding.

Jizzy slowly walked into the kitchen, twisting the edge of her shirt nervously. ?I?m doing alright, thank you.." She took a small breath and her face broke into a smile. 'Whatever is in here, it smells wonderful.."

Reid tilted his head, "ra?" he asked, pointing at the cross, not recognizing it

At Jabir's shortened name his face darkened, recognizing what Deimos had to be referencing, "Ja-bi?" he repeated slowly, wanting to be able to remember the man's name, if only so he could avoid him.

Rico smiled, "I'm glad, I think I may have made too much though," he flushed slightly, looking over the array of dishes, "but, well, at least we have variety, hm?" Looking around, he picked up two small salads, "shall we start with these while the other stuff cools?"

"Deimos nodded his head in agreement. "But me not let Jabi get in way. We have fun night, right?" He asked, looking at Reid then up at Chao. He was rather glad he hadn't had to go say hello to Rico. He was rather resentful towards the teen taking his mother away.

Jizzy nodded and moved over slowly to him. ?I?m sure it'll all taste as good as it smells.." She looked around, at the plates, at the floor, even at the salads, anything to not have to look Rico in the eyes just yet. She wasn't ready for that, not yet.

Reid nodded and clapped his hands together, looking up at his mother who merely shook her head.

"Yes, yes, lots of fun will be had," she said with a laugh, "let me just get Reid'n'my coats and we'll head off."

Rico was being quite careful to avoid Jizzy's eyes as well, he fixed his gaze on the door to the rarely used dining room and headed forward. "I've got everything set up in here," he said holding the door open for her.

"Dei nodded and bounced slightly on the soles of his feet. "Where we going?" He asked eagerly, wishing to just go and have fun for the night.

Jizzy walked through the door and she had to force herself not to gasp. Hadn't this supposed to be a casual dinner, just nothing fancy, but here there were candles all over. The dimmed light helped set the mood, but the candles were what surprised her. "It looks.. wonderful.." She said softly, still looking around.. Some causal dinner..

"You'll see," Chao sing-songed as she slipped on Reid's coat, newly bought, equipped with four arms and tiny flaps for the Mishap's wings. Opening the door she ushered the two out.

If Jizzy had looked over she would have noticed that Rico's expression was one of disbelief. When had this happened?! He'd just set out the silverware and two unlit candles ten minutes ago!

Forcing a smile he placed the salads down and pulled out her chair, there was nothing to be done about it now.

"Deimos gave a tiny grumble. He didn?t quite like surprises, but as he was ushered out the door he felt a thrill. This was an adventure. Who knew what would come tonight...

Jizzy took her seat ,nodding a thanks to Rico.. She took a deep breath and smiled again. The candles smelled wonderfully. She waited until Rico took his seat before she raised her cutlery.. "Bon apetite.." She said with a goofy smile and began to eat sheepishly, despite the fact that food was very good...

In the kitchen though, something was occurring that was beyond both Jizzy and Rico's knowledge.. A shadowed figure loomed over the soup.. A mischievous grin, the pop of a bottle being uncorked and a clear liquid dripping into Rico's carefully prepared food.. The deed was done, and the shadow, vanished..

Rico smiled and followed Jizzy's lead, digging into the food quietly and a bit self-consciously. It was a few minutes before there was a dim 'ting!' from the kitchen, signaling that the other foods were done cooling.

Smiling Rico stood, "hrm, should we head straight for a main course or go for the soup?"

?Soup sounds nice.." She said with a meek grin. She'd always been a soup person and after walking in the October chill she felt like she needed something to warm up her bones.

Nodding Rico deftly picked up their plates and disappeared for a moment before returning, carefully balancing two bowls of steaming soup.

Jizzy's senses were immediately filled with the smell and she even closed her eyes slightly to enjoy it.. "Goodness.. You're an amazing cook.." She said as the soup soon steamed in front of her. Then with a deft raise of her spoon, she began to eat..

Flushing Rico ducked his head a bit, bangs shadowing his eyes, "thank you," he replied before digging in to his own bowl.

It wasn't long into the soup when Jizzy began to feel.. odd.. Not bad odd, just different. She was suddenly very aware of how warm the air was around and how the texture of her clothing felt against her skin.. That last feeling made her slightly uncomfortable, like permanent itch. She took another sip of soup as she shuffled slightly..

Across the table Rico was beginning to feel similarly and he had to fight down the urge to visible fidget as the heat from his own body, the candles and Jizzy's seemed to suddenly sharpen, interrupting his conscious train of thought about the possibilities for the next course.

He tugged a bit at one shirtsleeve, wishing it wasn't so long before forcefully gripping his spoon again and taking another spoonful of soup.

Jizzy continued her drink, noticeably fidgeting again.. Gods it was hot in here, she thought, glancing momentary up at Rico, to see if his reaction was similar. She immediately regretted it as her mind gave a jolt at the sight of him.. Her skin began, not only to feel warm, but cold at the same time, a kind of crushingly lonely cold that made her want to go over and hold Rico right then and there...

Rico glared down at his soup, as if it was the cause of the sudden heat wave like phenomenon he was experiencing. As it was nearly empty anyway he glanced up, feeling his neck flush as goose bumps ran down his legs as they spasmed, trying to get up, or perhaps launch him across the table and merely pull off-

Oh hell.

"Shall we go grab the main course?" the teen somehow managed, pushing himself up slowly, biting his cheek to keep the rest of his body in check as he seemed to have fully lost control of the direction his thoughts were heading.

Jizzy simply nodded. She did not trust her voice anymore. She had to concentrate, gods he had such a sultry voice... She.. no.. She couldn't think that way, first date.. casual dinner.. She began to hug herself while she waited, both to keep her hands from running along with her though and to try to rid herself of this damned lonely cold she felt... She didn?t trust herself to get up and go with him to get the food...

To his credit, Rico managed to make his walk almost as natural as possible. Was than a possibly appealing little shake of slim hips? No! Of course not, his clothing was just too warm around that area.

Placing both bowls in the sink the teen looked around at the many dishes before quickly grabbing the chicken with broccoli and potatoes and assembling two plates with the sides and cutting off a small portion of the meat itself, managing to distract himself for nearly a minute before the task was done.

With three plates in hand he took a deep breath, gave his body a glare and headed back in.

While inside the room the heat had become unbearable for Jizzy, it reminded her a lot of when she had been sick with a fever, only she wasn't in pain with the heat as she had been before. Unknowing to Rico's entry she shuffled the sleeved of her camisole letting the fall down her arms, exposing her shoulder.. Maybe this would help get rid of the heat..

Rico stopped short as he caught sight of Jizzy, nearly dropping the plates in the process. The heat of the room seemed to notch up another few degrees and he felt his bare toes digging into the carpet of the room.

He waited a moment, until he was sure he wasn't going to do something stupid and headed over to the table, placing down the plates.

"Thank you.." She said, her voice light and airy, almost breathless. She tried to stay focused on the food, unknowingly licking her lips slowly at the sight of it, well maybe it wasn't just the food.

You're welcome," he managed, tucking into his own food after he'd sat down, trying to keep his eyes on the meal.

Jizzy couldn;t focus on her food, not at all.. Her gaze kept lingering upwards and her legs gave a small jolt everytime she spotted the teen across from her, but for now she mantained self control. well sortof.. It might have on purpose, or perhaps even by accident, but as she raided the chicken to her lips a small drip of sauce fell onto her bare collarbone.. WHile she could have used a napkin, her body went against it and she trailed her fingers across her chest to clean it up, then licking the mess off her fingers..

The teen had blinked up a moment before, about to ask Jizzy if she needed something to drink, but froze as the woman began to lick the sauce from her fingers.

His legs spasmed and suddenly he was on his feet, silverware clattering against the floor.

With surprising grace he walked around the table, almost looking as if he was about to go through with his original intention to merely ask Jizzy if she needed a drink, but rather he grasped her chin gently... and stopped. His insticts waging a rather large war in the forefront of his mind, even though they'd chosen a horrible place to do it.

His touch was the last straw. She needed someone touch.. She yearned for it and damn it she would get it. In a flash she was on her feet turning to Rico and without a word, kissed him..

For a moment he barely noticed, insticts still waring over whether he should kiss her. But after a split seconds all his senses snapped to attention and he returned the kiss enthusiasticly, arms wrapping around her waist.

Jizzy's brain was no longer functioning properly, the haze of the spell blocking everything but want. She was left with only desidre, want, need. SHe deepened the kiss with Rico, her insticts taking over as her hands went to caressing his neck.

Rico smiled into the kiss, responding in kind as Jizzy began to deepen it, arcing his neck towards the contors of her hands, rubbing genle circles along her waist.

It wasn't long before Jizzy's hands began to wander.. DOwn his back, then around his front... Her mind screamed at her right then, but her body was too deep into the spell.. The candles around them seemed to flare in exitement as he rhands fell on the buttons of Rico's shirt.

Rico's mind screamed something about casual dinners and only having met Jizzy twice but the teen didn't pay it any heed, lips moving from Jizzy's mouth down along her jawline to her neck as her hands wandered along his back.

Jizzy's hands were on the top button of his shirt as she strained to get it off without looking.. As he trailed down her neck a gasp caught in her throught and a very low moan escaped her lips.

Rico smirked very slightly, sucking at the skin before moving down as she moaned, planting a small kiss at the center of her collarbone.

She gave a triamphant gasp as the button came undone and the next three, no four were easy pickings.. Her mind was overrun with the sensations as she began her struggle with his last button, whom did not want to come off.

Rico's eyes shifted to her hands then back to her still slightly saucy collarbone which he bagan to slowly lick, darting his fingers beneath the tail end of her shirt to just barely brush along her hips.

The last button just wouldn't come off, no matter how her hands srained with it.. IN a deperate tug to get it free, she accomplished her goes, but the button broke off and ricoshed, hitting her point blank on her forehead. Her eyes widened as for a moment her mind reeled back to logic, this was magic, strong at that.. "Rico.. gods.. Rico stop.. Its a spell.." She said softly, though her hands still found thier way to his back, lingering there.

Rico blinked, pausing as her words penatrated. "Sp-spell?" he repeated slowly.

"Yes.. damn it.. a spell.." She said in hiss, her body ached for them to continue and her hands remained on him... "gods its strong.." she muttered as her hands began to move up and down his back slowly..

Bringing his hands up, self control slowly reinstating itself, fighting against the will of the spell Rico placed his hands on her shoulders, barely pushing away. "Oh." He said shakily, body protesting loudly to the suddenly decrease in contact.

"I.. I.. catch me if I fall.." She said suddenly and closed her eyes taking deep breaths.. She focused hard on the magic, trying to ignore the aching need she felt for touch.. "ksnonna..." she muttered, barely louder than a whisper but a wind picked up in the room, blowing out the many fiery candles and lifting the spell's haze from their minds.. As she predicted, Jizzy began to fall...

Rico easily grasped onto Jizzy, shouldering her weight even as the sharp tang of embarassement and dull, throbbing anger took the place of the haze of before hand.

Jizzy winced slightly.. "I'm sorry.. I.. I haven;t used magic in years.. makes me weak.." she whispered, ratehr uncomfortable in his arms after the incident, but she couldn't exactly move away without falling to the floor.

"It's fine," he muttered, shifting her slightly, into a better posistion before heading towards the door, "want to lie down on the couch?" he asked, mind pondering the pros and cons of hiding away after she was settled until he could just.... forget. Or get past this awful feeling of utter embarassement. Or figure out who had done it and extract some sort of revenge. Yes, he liked that option right now.

"Any idea what caused it?" he asked quietly, shouldering open the door.

Jizzy nodded.. The couch sounded wonderful at the moment. Her legs didn't want to hold her up, not after dispelling that strong a spell.. "My guess, something in the food.. and the candles..." SHe trailed off slowly as realization dawned upon her, the magic the strength she knew it.. "it's the same person who put that curse on me before..."

Rico blinked, navigating towards the living room, vaguely noting that his shirt was still unbuttoned before processing her words. "That makes sense..." he rumbled before grimacing, "as does that. Any idea of who would want to hurt you so much?"

Sadly, she nodded.. "I'm sorry Rico, but.... I can;t see you anymore after tonight.. not with her after me like this.. I can't put you in danger..." Her tone was incredibly sad.. "my sister will mean to kill next time.."

"Oh, well," he replied then shrugged, laying down on the couch before pacing off a few paces, feeling a small bubble of anger rumble up in his chest.

"It's your choice after all, though I'd like to say, although it may not that it may have occured to you, I am not helpless, thank you very much." His tone was clipped, grey eyes narrow, "besides isolating yourself is merely giving in to your sister what she wants, isn't it? It makes you an easier target. You're a mother Jizzy, what'll happen to your kids if you're hurt or killed? But, whatever," another shrug as he shoved a few pieces of hair behind one black curved horn, "it's your choice," and with that, he turned and headed out the door before he could find himself in actually ranting, going into matter that he didn't have the right to expose and perhaps saying something he would have regretted later.

"I'm sorry..." JIzzy said softly.. "I..I can't fight her alone.. I can't fight and win.. " She said.. "I can't run anymore either.. I.. I.. I've never been good at asking for help...." She sobbed softly, not even believing Rico had heard her..

Rico actually hadn't wandered far, legs giving out just behind the door and he sighed as she murmured.

"Then just say 'help me'," he called back lightly, "if you can't say it for yourself then say it for others, say 'help my family' 'help us survive' 'help us fight her'," he sighed and shook his head, "those who never ask for help are always killed, in some form or another...."

"then.. then would you help me... please.." She said, her tone begging to him. SHe needed help now, before she could just run, cover her tracks and run away.. Now, as Rico had said, she was a mother. Deimos needed her, and.. she need Rico's help..

Rico smiled lightly, tilting his head and murmured softly "'now was that so hard?'" a breif tribute to his mother before he stood again, leaning on the wall, poking his head in, "of course I'll help, so will Ae'. Don't worry, you're not alone in this."

Jizzy felt an enourmous weight lifted from her and she smiled as soft tears rushed down her cheeks.. "I.. I should probably fill you in.. on.. why..why Amalia wants me.." SHe said her name as if it was some nasty curse word she would get slapped for simply saying.. "I can't have you say you'll help while you're still in the dark.."

"Well, yes, information is always good. But, perhaps another time though? When Ae' is here? And we'll help you whatever the reason," he was sliding down the wall as he spoke, all his weight on his back. He felt so spent now, not even up to being concerned or embarassed.

"I. I.. I hate to be asking more of you, but.. Can Dei and I stay the night.. I.. I don't have the energy to get home.." She said softly, her tone embarrased as she lay on the couch, curling herself up slightly.

"S'fine..." he murmured and prompty fell over, head in the middle of the doorway, out like a light.

Jizzy gave a deep sigh and was about to drift to sleep when the dorr creaked open and Deimos bounded loudly in. "MOTHER I BACK!" He bellowed loudly, strinding into the living room, ignoring that squishy thing he'd stepped on the way in.

"Yes! We have returned! Hail the conquering heroes and all that," Chao called, shoving off her shoes, Reid squirming in her arms until she let him down and he scampered ahead, coming to a stop at the sight of his uncle.

"Ra-ra?" the boy chirped, crouching down and poking at his uncle, "ki?" he asked, why was Uncle Rico down here on the floor?

Chao noticed her brother a moment after Reid did. Looking him over, from his rumpled state to the fact that he was on the floor. "Oh...no. Jizzy! Jizzy you here?" she called franticly. What the hell had happened?!

"In the living room.." Jizzy called meekly as she was torn from her state of almost sleep.. She only just notice how ruffled up she looked. Deimos heard his mother's voice and darted to the room. "Aunt Chao!!! Mother in here..." He shouted as to reassure her possition. "Was Rico mean, Mother?" He said as he looked her over.. He should have never left her alone..

Chao poked her head in, looking distressed, "are you alright?" she asked, "Rico's out here collapsed on the floor."

"Collapsed oh.." Jizzy sounded terribly guilty.. "I.. think He'll be fine, we're just both rather tired.." She said and cast a glance at Deimos.. She didn';t want to explain she had been attacked in front of her boy..

Picking up her brother Chao frowned and peaked in, watching Reid crawl over until he was next to Deimos, patting the other woman on the cheek gently.

"Erm... Jizzy, really, you sure? Rico's not... not one to fall asleep in random places."

"We had a rough night..." She said, but her tone was littered with meaning. They had been attacked, attacked by Jizzy's sister who wouldn;t stop until she got what she wanted, but.. Deimos.. Jizzy didn;t want him to know, not at this age..

Rough night, the words had more meaning to Chao than she'd liked to admit. Had Heanza found them? Found her? Ohgodohgod...

But, no, if they had Rico wouldn't be here! Unless he was tagged? No, they were too cocky for that.

The poor teen's expression merely became more distraught by the second as she pondered the possibilities.

"Dei, honey,... We're staying here tonight.. Rico was very nice to me, but could you take Reid up while I speak to.." She pasued and smiled.. "AUntie Chao..."

Deimos was a tad reluctant but he sighed. "Coem Reid!" He said, grabbing the small childs hand and hitching him up his front, so Reid could wrap his arms around Deimos. "We go play upstairs.." He said and began a slow, heavy toddle out and up...

Chao didn't even notice the use of 'aunt' with her name, not really. By now she was a supposed aunt to a lot of little ones. How that had happened she was still unsure.

Reid blinked, giving his mother a worried look as she whined softly before fizing her atention on Jizzy, the sound barely audioable as her overactive imagination began to get to her. But he didn't resist as Deimos grabbed his arms and latched them firmly around the other Mishap. Hopefully the other bigger peoples would cheer his mother up while they went to play.

Jizzy gave a deep sigh as Deimos went out of earshot.. 'We were attcked.. so to speak.. my.. my sister slipped a lust spell in the food.. I'm still drained from dispelling it.."

Deimos gave a deep sigh. "What does Reid like play?" He said, reaching the top of the staircase and looking around.. "and uh.. which Reid room?"

"Ra," he replied, recognizing the word 'room' more than any of the others and pointing with one hand to his room.

"Attacked?" Chao's voice hitched, nearing hysteria for a moment before she calmed down. "Your sister? Lust potion?" she repeated slowly.

Deimos strode towards the room, heaving slightly as he tried to mantain his balance while carrying Reid. He had the strength, but not really the dexterity... He opened the door and let the small mishap down.

Jizzy nodded.. "It was in the food and.. well.. uh.. If it weren;t for one of Rico's button's flying into my head, I.. I wouldn't have noticed..." She said, her cheeks a deep crimson and her eyes avoiding Chao's.. "my sister is also the one who sent the curse, the fever, not too long ago.."

Reid smiled at the older Mishap and crawled in, glowing gently in the semi-darkness of the room. A fair amount of plushes were scattered about the floor, Aias, Reid's wishing doll dangled from a string by the window, a crib was tucked in the corner, but otherwise it looked pretty new.

"Wow..." Chao muttered, dumping Rico into a chair, "well, so now you definately know it's her doing all this?"

Deimos grinned at the darkness, he prefered it over the bright lights and shocking colors of some rooms. "Reid room cool.." He stated, nodding in approval..

Jizzy nodded. "COuldn;t be anyone else.. Not with magic that strong, besides.. I can recognize my family?s spells, I am, unfortunatly, blood relation..." This was terrible, so long Jizzy ahd hidden her past and now it was just resurfacing, and coming to bit her in the arse..

Reid smiled over his shoulder, having finally found his his bunny like plush. Looking around waved to the smallish form of Claus, who merely snored as he slept on, ignorant of the two Mishaps.

Chao nodded slowly, "aha, magic hrm? Well, at least your sure of who it is and it's only one person," she was so used to facing an entire system it was hard to be worked up by just one person.

Deimos smirked at the dragon child, Mother had one simlar too it back home, though he rarely saw the fiery lizard. "What does Reid want play?" He said, flopping down by the small child..

"I.. I'll tell you the whole story when Rico wakes up.. I.. I haven't told it once and I.. I really don't want to do it twice..." She said softly, raisign her hand weakly to wipe the tears from her face.. "But if my sister is after me, it means the whole family is... Amalia is just the worst.."

Reid nibbled on his lip then shrugged.

Chao nodded lightly, "makes sense, he should wake up soon," gently she kicked at her brother's foot, only recieveing a twich in response.

"Aha..." she murmured and kicked at Rico's foot again, "that's awful though, I've seen it happen elsewhere, but I still can't believe families turn on one another like that."

Deimos sighed. "You need to choose. If not, I choose for you.." He said. People who were uncertain irked him slightly.

"You have no idea..." Jizzy sighed out, shivering slightly as she lay on the cough still. She made a meek attempt to sit up, and succeded, curling her legs up onto the couch to keep herself warm.. After being under the spell, everything seemed much colder.

Reid looked around then nodded to Deimos, "Dei ch-" he made a face, attempting to get the sounds right, "ch-chooooose," he stated firmly, with a flicker of a glow as the word finally formed then nodded in confirmation.

Chao didn't verbally reply to that, merely gave her slightly strained smile and a small sympathetic pat. She didn't know that precise feeling, no, but she'd felt betrayal before. It was surprising how much a bounty on one's head could do. But she wasn't about to pour out her secrets to Jizzy, the woman had enough on her mind.

Reaching next to her she threw a fluffy blanket Jizzy's way then smacked her brother on the ear gently, "get up you lazy bum!" she snapped and was rewarded as one of Rico's eyes twitched open and glared at her.

Deimos gave a heaving sigh and looked around Reid's room for something to play with.. A ball, some blocks, maybe.. But his eyes were drawn toa small glow n the corner. "What that?" He asked, pointing to it.

"Good morning sunshine.." Jizzy breathed, trying to smile. Things could be worse, right.. AMalia could still be here.. or.. it could have been poison insted of potion in that soup... She shuddered at the though.. "How are you feeling?" She asked Rico.

Reid followed Deimos' line of vision and tilted his head, "ah! Tha' Wil," he said with a light nod in the Wisp's direction.

"Tired... can I go back to bed now?" he murmured, eying the two women blearily.

"You can sleep after Jizzy explains everything to us," Chao replied.

"Wil? Is..." He paused.. With a name like Wil, he supposed the light was a he.. so.. "he fun?" He asked, gazing at the faint pulsing light.

Jizzy shivered again, despite the warm blanket around her now.. "Ok.. I.. I have to be honest.. My name isn't Jizzy.. its Mahlah.. and my sister is after me because... I have something that belongs to the family.. and I didn't stay dead long enough for it to stay hidden like they wanted.." She said, trying to explain it as best as possible without ranting for hours..

"Wil fun," 'Wil' was in fact 'Willow' and thusly a girl, as Deimos would probably notice when she the wisp approached. Reid nodded all the same, not noticing the gender slip, "Wil fun!"

Chao cocked an eyebrow, "Mahlah, how pretty. I wondered if Jizzy was your given name..." she rearranged herself on her chair lightly, taking the information in stride, sorting through it quietly, "so, you died and you had whatever it was they wanted you to hide with you, so I take it this isn't like some artifact or something?" Which was sad, it was easy to hide that kind of thing, if something was integrated into you, well, it made for an easier target.

Rico merely nodded along, though his grey blue eyes flicked to his sister as she merely trod over the fact that Jizzy had, infact, died before. It was odd what his sister considered 'notably' and 'out of the ordinary' these days.

Deimos took the boy's word for it and began to move towards the glow. The wisp responded and zoomed up, hgh gigls filling the air as she zoomed down and floated around Reid's head.

"It means weak... Mahlah, the weak, Valnosse.." She said a sort of venom in her voice she reserved only when she spoke of her family. "And no.. is.. not an artifact.. It's.. I don't know how they did it, but they locks secrets in me.. I don't even know what they are, but they probabbly kept me from passing on.. and.. now that Amalia knows I'm alive and well, she'll worry I'll unlock them and... best to get them off me, then kill me..."

Reid smiled lightly, waving back to the wisp, watching calmly as she zoomed about.

"What kind of 'weak'?" Rico asked lightly, Chao nodded her agreement to the question before making a face.

"Preventing you from passing on? How horrible," she blinked and quickly looked up, "I mean, not that I'm unhappy to have met you, it's the prinicple of the thing and such...." She, paused and listened quietly then sighed, "hrm..." she murmured, puzzeling over it as she kicked her feet back and forth.

Deimos smiled faintly as the light zoomed around his head, perchign on his nose. He could see the slim female figure now and he smirked. "Where she come from?" He asked, not recognizing her.

?ALl kinds of weak.. I was born premature, so my body and health were always weaker than my family's and my.. magic.. is.. subpar by thier standards.." She tried to explain rocking back and forth. "My family values power and strength.. Maybe money, but not much else.."

She sighed and smiled faintly. "But I get it Chao.. No offense to any of you, but I wished I could have passed on back then.. I spent a lot of time dead, then being revived.. it?s.. all rather painful.."

"Dei's Mu," Reid explained, the little wisp had shown up the night he, Deimos and Ai had gone into the forest.

"Aha..." Rico nodded slowly before shaking his head, and rising, pacing about a bit, as much to help himself think as it was to get feeling back into his legs. "How silly, what people value."

"People always value strength and magic or anything else they can take as 'signs from above' that their people are blessed and better than others," venom leaked into Chao's voice before she could force it back and he back twinged sharply in pain.

Taking a few deep breaths, reigning in her not often lost temper the teen nodded, "no offence taken. Don't worry."

Deimos strained to think, then recalled it. "Right. Glow thing called by mother to find Dei.." He remmebered and petting the wisp as it floated by him. "She nice.."

It actually took a lot of comfort in Chao's tone and words and smiled... "Sounds just like my family.. If I know Amalia, she may even have herslef a following by now.." She said, mostly as a joke, though some truth were held in the words. "She could do things with magic, I'd never seen done before.. She's dangerous.. and now that she's after me.. well.. I just don't feel like dying agin yet.."

Reid nodded, glowing warmly as Wil floated near Deimos, "Wil ver' nicee."

"Great, I hate dealing with followings," Chao grumbled then nodded contemplatively. "I don't doubt that she's dangerous, anyone daring enough and insane enough to go after another being usually is. But really, Jizzy, we'll do whatever we can to help."

Deimos smiled and ruffled up the small childs hair. "You got good taste.." He said, nodding as if he really knew what he was saying.

"I..can't thank you two enough.. but.." She trailed away slightly.. "For safety precautions.. could I.. ward your house tommorow.. She knew to find me here, so... She may come back here."

Reid gave his head a shake, giving Deimos a look as the older boy ruffled his hair, brushing against his antenai.

"Sure, that'd be fine, wards would be nice actually," Chao said with a small smile, before frowning, "erm... the wards won't interfer with magic that's already in place and contained, right?" she asked queitly.

Deimos didn;t pay any mind to the look. He didn't quite graspt the point of the fuzzy things on his friends head. He knew Aphrodite had them too, but that was it. "Dei staying with you night. Mother to tired. k?"

"It shoudln't.." Jizzy asked and she furred her brow thinking.. "The ward would keep things out, not bother with things inside.. so.. no.. I don't think so.. Not that a ward would do too much to hold Amalia, but it may give us time to run.. or.. soemthing.." She said witha defeated sigh.

Reid tilted his head and nodded lightly, wings flapping as his eyes flickered from Deimos to Will momentarily, "ki."

"That's good..." Chao murmured, rolling her shoulders and, refusing to look her brother in the eye even when she felt his eyes on her.

"Your sister isn't bullet proof or anything, is she?" she asked after a moment.

"You got a place I sleep?" He asked, he was tired after that long night out with Aunt Chao.

Jizzy actually let out a laugh, but it was high, cold and distant, much unlike the normal Jizzy.. "Bullets? Unless you tear out her heart with one, she'll prolly just come back.. "

Rabid Ice Weasel
~ A Gift ~

Rabid crept quietly through the hallway, glancing around nervously. She felt as if she were on some kind of magical ninja mission to bring joy and glucose to her friends.

She took a card out of her pocket and stuck an adhesive strip to the back, then electing to smack it against the wall outside Chao's door. Hah! It stuck! Freakin' things...

She carefully removed a plastic baggie from her shoulder bag. Inside the baggie was a cookie she'd baked for Reid. She taped this to the wall also, glad that it hadn't broken in the move.

Then, hearing footsteps down the hall, she quickly ran off.

As Mummy began running away, Malachi gave the gryphon he held a big hug for Reid and tossed it in front of his door. Mummy's stitched Reid's name in it and everything! He smiled proudly and squealed as they ran...

[October 15th, 2005]

[What's normal anyway.]

"Aido!! Reiid!" Chao called, padding across the hall quietly, sure she'd just heard the sounds of two of her children arriving back home from a walk. Blinking she was stopped when a slight breeze passed by her, indicating an open window. Turning the teen trot into the room and easily hoisted herself out the window.

Reid shifted in his sister's lap, looking over and grinning at his mother.

"Sha!" he exclaimed, pointing excitedly towards the fairly large creature situated in front of them.

Chao blinked, looking from her son, to her daughter, to the dragon sitting in front of both of them.

Aido smiled innocently, "he followed us home, can we keep 'im?"

Chao was silent for a moment, "you know, parents everywhere have heard that at some point or another, but I think it's a first for me," she reflected quietly before nodding with a shrug, "but yeah, sure. I'm sure Claus, Ravi and Avel would, well maybe not so much Avel, but yes, I'm sure they'd like the company. Now come in before you catch cold."

Reid grinned and gave the dragon a fond pat as he got up with them, giving the fairly small window an odd look.

Aido 'ahhh'ed in quiet comprehension and handed her little brother to her Mu and gestured for the dragon to follow her as she trot to the end of the roof and hopped onto the, thankfully never moved, rooftop and then down below.

"So Reid," Chao asked, climbing through, "what's his name?"

"Shashi," Reid pronounced proudly and Chao nodded thoughtfully.

"Shashi hrm? Did you name him Reid?"

The little firefly boy nodded and wriggled as they entered the hallway and Aido met up with them again, Shashi trailing behind her. As soon as he was let down he crawled over to the dragon and, with a tiny bit of help from Aido, climbed up. With a laugh he pointed down the hall and the dragon obediently lumbered off.

Chao rubbed at her eyes, gave her daughter a pat on the head and headed down the stairs, grumbling "who needs long legs when you can have your own personal dragonmobile?" she determinedly ignored her daughter's laugh from up above and headed towards the kitchen to let her brother in on the newest family member.

Silencer lumbered after her charge, who have by then streaked down the stairs and was heading towards a firefly mishap's room. She slipped off to her own room for a little while, then emerged with a small tank. In it was a pair of miniature Japanese carps, which were swimming around in circles. Tapping the wall of the tank lightly, Silencer smiled, and headed towards her adopted child.

Crouching, Rex extracted a bi-colored giftbag from his black backpack, and waddled up to the door of chaoticdivinity and Reid's room. Once there he reached forwards and leaned the giftbag against the door, not forgetting a rather large, glittering candy. This he shooed into the orange and black giftbag. Then the child fished out a note from his pocket, and stuck it onto said bag.

"'Eh~ Now where should this go?"

"Over here, gimme!" In a flash the tank was seized from Silencer, and was placed, again, against the door, beside the giftbag. Rex waved to the pair of red and white carps. Then he hurried off, dragging his guardian along with him to one of the other rooms.

The Note
To Reid,

Hello! Happy (belated) Halloween!
Sorry I'm late in giving you this. Hope you like it still! The fishes are for your mom. Hope she likes it, yes.

Hope to see you around sometime, yes.

- Rexier Gaver

The bag gave a slight wriggle as the candy bounced around inside, but went completely still a few seconds later...

[I'll just be waiting here.]

Worry worry worry. The house had been alight with panic after the small revelation that one of its members had gone missing. Rico, Fai and Chao, always carrying Reid, had searched the woods, accompanied by the numerous companions who lived within their home. They'd stretched out, searching Gambino and taking numerous trips to the Stationary Store where Aido had been first arrived.

All to no avail, there'd been no sight or sign of the missing Tale. No note, nothing missing from her room, even the red shirt the girl was so fond of had been left behind. There'd been no sign of a struggle, save rumpled bed sheets, but those had been in place before.

Chao had finally gone to the police and put out a search warrant, but that had been day's ago.

The household had finally collapsed under the weight of its own worry and nearly all of the occupants we currently collapsed in bed.

Chao had dragged her exhausted limbs over to the living room and curled up, a sleeping Reid cradled carefully in her arms as she sat, hunched over her child. The teen was indulging in something she hadn't done in a very long time, a quiet bout of tears that she felt would never cease.

Reid wriggled, coming back to the world of waking as several drops of liquid pattered onto his face. Looking up he frowned, watching as the liquid ran down his mother's face, occasionally plopping onto his own head, and listening as she occasionally sniffled. The tone was awful to hear but his concern for his mother was greater than the desire to try and block out the sounds. Reaching up he gently pat her on the face, tiny hands attempting to rub away the liquid, hoping that would make his mother happier, "Mu...?"

Chao sniffled and let out a tiny, pained laugh that had the firefly grimacing as his mother wiped at her eyes. "I'm sorry Reid..." she murmured, the words chopped and jagged, "I just can't seem to stop...." She sniffled again and picked up her son and hugged him close, "but that doesn't mean I need to torment you, does it?"

Reid merely continued to pat at his mother's cheeks, emerald eyes taking in her bloodshot eyes and puffy cheeks worriedly.

Chao sniffled and pat her son on the head, taking a deep breath as she disentangled herself from the couch. Her ten minutes of indulgent breakdown were done. "I'm going to go get us lunch, 'kay hun?" she said, ruffling Reid's hair.

Reid continued to frown in worry, ignoring even the ever present hair ruffle of evil as his mother walked out, heading towards the kitchen.

With a worried flicker of his wings he shuffled towards the end of the couch and peered over, about to hop down when the shadows began to stir, stopping in his tracks. That only happened when....

"Aiii?" he asked then slumped when Aido's companion and not his sister stepped out and flickered his gaze towards him, "Rae'" he stated, glaring at the shadow, "Aii ki?"

The shadow nodded and padded closer and Reid's gaze flicked to the Shadow's mouth, noting a bit of off white there among the flickering black. He held out his hands and Rael dropped the piece of paper in the Mishap's waiting hands.

-She'll be back,- he stated with confidence he didn't have, the words echoing in Reid's mind.

"Rae' sa?" he asked, catching onto the edge of worry.

-...one can't help but be worried in these kinds of situations. Give that to your mother,- and without further ado the Shadow padded back into the others and everything was just as it'd been a few minutes ago save for the letter in Reid's hands.

Chao returned mere seconds later, a tray in her hand. The teen placed it on the table and sat by Reid, looking quite a better than she had before. "What's this Reid?" she asked, taking the paper from an unresisting Reid. She unfolded in and gave a little gasp at the contents and Reid had to scoot closer to be able to see any of the printed words.

The letter
Dear Aemu, Uncle Rico, Fai and Reid,

I hope this letter gets to you alright, Rael said he was worried about trying to transport it but if you're reading this you must've gotten it.

I miss you all and I'm sorry if you've been worrying about me, I don't know how but I seem to have lost myself and I can't haven't been able to find a way home yet. I hope you're all safe, I'm doing alright. Please stay safe. I'm trying my hardest to think of a way to get home but every time I try something goes wrong and I end up here. I'll find a way around it, I just haven't thought of it yet.

I'll be home soon, I promise so please don't worry. I'll bring home lots of new maps and things and then I promise I won't go anywhere for a really long time.

I love you all,

~Aido

Chao gave a little shuddering sigh and pulled Reid close, unspeakably happy and relieved yet at the same time racked with worry. Reaching over she pulled out the nearest phone and dialed Rico's number, prepared to relay the news.

[Gift giving and bizarre pep talks.]

~Toy Room~

Rabid sat on a chair in the corner of the room, reading over a bunch of stapeled-together papers. Her moods changed from sad to delighted and back again as she read the familiar words.

Malachi was laying on his back in the centre of the rug, his eyes closed and his face set in an emotionless expression. His mind was completely blank; a thoughtless void.

Gods, was he bored...

The door swung open as Chao stepped in, bag over one shoulder, a sleepy looking Reid in her arms. She'd been aimlessly wandering around the HeadQuarters for nearly an hour, unwilling to go home or stay in their room, and she'd merely cut into the first unlocked door she'd seen as her legs started to protest.

Reid grumbled as his mother slowed to look around, peeking one eye open and sitting up slightly, clutching a dragon plush.

"Ra?" he asked his Mu, giving the teen, who'd begun to stare at a blank section of wall a small pat on the hand, before glancing around, brightening slightly as he noticed who was there. "Ike!"

Ike head snapped up when he heard his name. It took him a moment before the recognition set in. He sat up quickly and waved, grinning.

"Hai, Reid!"

Finally someone to play with!

Rabid smiled as Chao entered, and then realized that the girl wasn't paying any attention.

"Hey, Chao!" she waved with one hand, using the other to haphazardly stuff the papers into her shoulder bag.

Finally someone to play with!

Rabid smiled as Chao entered, and then realized that the girl wasn't paying any attention.

"Hey, Chao!" she waved with one hand, using the other to haphazardly stuff the papers into her shoulder bag.

Reid glowed warmly when Ike responded happily, taking in the warm tones with glee. His own family had been in such a state of panic for the past few days, finally ending and deflating to a sort of vague depression, that seeing someone that was actually happy, not to mention a friend, was positively wonderful!

He squirmed fiercely in his mother's arms.

Chao blinked and seemed to shake herself out of her stupor with a glance to Rabid, "heya Rabid," she greeted with a slight smile, lowering Reid to the ground. Immediately the Mishap began to crawl off towards his friend.

Ike waved again and scooted forward a bit, making the distance between his friend a bit shorter. Mummy had been acting really weird lately, and it was good to finally see someone smiling. Especially Reid.

"You look a bit tired," Rabid said and motioned to the chair beside her. She vaguely remembered hearing something about some kind of...bad thing. She figured it was best to not ask how her friend was doing.

Reid made short work of the distance, taking a seat near his friend. He pasued then placed his dragon plush on the other boy's head with a nod and a giggle.

Chao took it greatfully, taking off her bag and slumping in the chair, rubbing at her eyes. "Haven't been getting a lot of sleep..." she raked a hand through her hair and glanced at her friend, "Rabid... have you ever felt like... the world should just stop for a while rather than just going on like nothing's happened?"

Rabid screwed up her face and sighed. There it went...

"Of course," she smiled weakly, "Most people have. That doesn't make it any less impossible. We always find a way to make it through..."

She fought the urge to hug the girl, knowing that it would probably have a bad effect.

Ike rolled his eyes upward and gave an exaggerated gasp, clapping a hand over his mouth. He bent sideways, attempting to not move his head, and retrieved Bear-Bear from the floor nearby.

"Rawr," he giggled and sat the teddy bear hard between himself and Reid.

The teen nodded slowly and slumped again, "yeah... I suppose so..." Chao knew, honestly she did, that it wasn't doing her, or her family for that matter, any good for her to wallow in self pity, but she didn't feel able to shake it all off and just wait it out. And that in turn made her frustrated about the whole thing and herself and then she was just a mess of bad feelings and...

"You know what would be nice? If nothing bad happened. Ever."

Reid "ooo"d quietly at the introduction of the new toy and gave the bear a tenative pat. From atop Ike's head the dragon wobbled and fell into the Mishap's lap.

"Of course," Rabid laughed scornfully at the world, "but there's also nothing we can do about that. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?" Her mind whirred over possible ways to cheer her friend up, but none seemed at all useful.

Ike smiled, and then watched the dragon fall. He picked it up using Bear-Bear's hands with some effort and made the pastel yellow toy walk clumsily toward Reid, the dragon out in front of it.

"Bah," he said, bringing his chin close to his chest and using a slightly deeper voice.

"You know," Chao replied after a moment, looking thoughtful for the first time, "I think people only say that when they're trying to convince themselves something's worth it. Half the time it doesn't seem practical at all."

Reid brought up one hand and let out a slightly muffled giggle, taking the dragon back with two of his free hands. He made the plush lumber around in a small circle until it was facing Bear-Bear.

"Rrr?" he rumbled, making a valient attempt at rolling the 'r's.

"I agree," Rabid laughed, "but can you blame me for trying? Life suck, and then you die." She usually wasn't quite so cynical, but she couldn't help it by that point. Maybe this little meeting wasn't the best idea, even if it hadn't been planned.

Ike peered up at Mummy when she said the word 'die', but quickly tried to brush it off and turned back to Reid. He stood Bear-Bear up on his hind legs and made him claw the air with one of his arms.

"Rawr," he smiled.

Chao let out a quiet laugh, "what's that song?" she furrowed her brow, "oh! 'Life's gonna suck when you grow up, it sucks pretty bad right now!'" she sang, looking, bizarrely, a bit more cheerful than before. Well, once one hits rock bottom the only way to go is up.

Reid gave his friend a slightly worried look, but it slipped away as soon as the other boy seized his bear again.

Reid manuvered his free hand and made his dragon plush look up and shuffle back slightly, before hopping forward again.

"Rrrraaawwwrrr," he rumbled in return.

"I haven't the slightest idea," Rabid laughed, listening to the girl beside her sing. She was so out of the times, it was fairly amusing. She felt herself growing a bit happier...

Ike attempted to make Bear-Bear gasp, but his arm only went as far as his chin. This satisfied him, though, and he made the poor bear turn and scamper a few feet away, or however far it was that his arm could reach.

Chao tapped her chind, humming as the song come back to her before fading off with a sigh.

"At least...anyone, everyone, inside of time only has to live through things once, you know? Even if sometime in the future something similar happens we will never have to relive this same event, ever," she'd forgotten her long used mantra but now it was back with a vengence.

Reid made a sound of slight dismay and looked around. A moment later he was crawling/making his dragon trot over towards his mother. After rooting through her bag momentarily he began to crawl back, a cookie clutched between it's paws, and another plushie clutched in Reid's only remaining free arm.

Once they were close to Ike and Bear-Bear Reid had the dragon present the cookie and gave the other Mishap the other plush in his arms, "gif." He beamed, proud for remembering/sighting the plush.

"Right," Rabid laughed slightly and began tugging at the one elongated curl by the side of her face. She hated being reminded of her own mortality...or immotality, as it were...no matter how unintentional.

Ike looked down at the plush and then cocked his head to one side.

"Fuh Ike?" he was completely and utterly confused.

Chao glanced over at her friend and colored slightly, misinterpreting the slightly forced sounding laugh, "oh, dear, I'm sorry for laying all this on you Rabid," she raked a hand through loose hair, "I didn't mean to come in and kill the mood and such, it's just been an awful week and... misery loves company and all that..." she trailed off as she realized she was babbeling.

Reid nodded and glowed warmly, "Ike."

"Naw, Chao," Rabid forced a smile, "It's not that at all. I care, really. I would help if I could." There was really no correct way to say 'yes, I want to hear your personal problems'.

Malachi smiled and took the plush, giving it a quick squeeze. He then peered around the room, apparently thinking. He crawled over to Mummy's bag and pulled out a handful of candies. It was the best he could do on such short notice.

He crawled back to Reid and held his hand out.

"Fuh, Reid," he smiled.

"Alright then," Rabid smiled, glad that she could help...even if she hadn't been trying, "and...err...you're welcome? I'm always here to...wait it out with you. Don't forget."

Ike smiled, proud that he could please his friend.

"Weltum," his grin broadened as he carefully poured the candies into his friend's hands.

"I won't forget, thanks," Chao smiled and glanced at her wrist, grimacing at the time, "oh gods, is that really the time? They all probably think we've gone and dissapeared now," she shook her head, stood and stretched, cracking her back a bit then looked over to the two Mishaps. "Reid honey, we've gotta head home."

Reid carefully cupped his hands around the candies then looked over his shoulder and pouted, "Muuu...."

Chao trot over and picked up her son, "sorry hun, but we don't want Uncle Rico and Fai to worry, 'kay? You'll see Ike again soon."

Reid grumbled and looked over the edge of his Mu's arms, "bai Ike!"

"Thanks again Rabid," Chao called back as she paused at the door, "see you around."

"Bai, Reid!" Ike smiled and waved happily, clinging to his new plushie.

"Any time," Rabid smiled and waved, and then turned to her son, 'Where'd you get that...?"

[Deimos is to Questing Mishaps as Jedi is to Padawan.]

Captain Deimos stood on the top of the slide, looking out onto his playground domain. Yes, this would do perfectly. He slide down the slide rapidly, brushing himself off after a short encounter with the floor and looked around. Mother was seated on a picnic sheet not to far from the playground, but AUnt Chao and Reid were not here yet. After helping Ike with his quest, Deimos had volunteered his services to Reid and now, Captain Deimos was ready, to begin the obstacle course.

A slightly damp haired Chao jogged across the terrace, Reid bouncing in her arms. They were late! Well, only a few minutes, but still! The newly confidence revived guardian was eager to see what Deimos had planned.

Reid was completely oblivious as to why they were heading into the area, and blinked a few times in the pure sunlight of the day. When his vision had adjusted he sat up slightly and smiled, waving as he caught sight of Deimos.

"Dei!"

"Hey Chao!" Jizzy cried out, patting the picnic sheet so Chao would sit. SHe'd even made lemonade and sandhiches for them all. This was probably going to be a lot lass macabre than Ike's quest.

"Aunt Chao! Reid!" Diemos cried, striding away from his playground domain and going to them. "I ready!"

"Heya Jizzy! Hey Deimos!" Chao called as the other duo came into view.

Chao placed Reid down in front of Deimos and ruffled the boy's hair fondly, "thanks again Deimos, but... erm, be careful okay?"

Reid gave his Mu a look of confusion, ready? Ready for what? The firefly Mishap tilted his head and peered at Dei, "ra?"

Chao gave Reid a hug and ruffled his hair, "we'll be just over there if you need us, do what Dei says, okay?"

Reid blinked but nodded all the same, "ki."

Giving the duo a thumbs up Chao trot over and took a seat besides Jizzy.

Deimos picked up the firefly child, carrying him over to the sandy area of the playground. "I help Reid with quest. Ks." He said and palced him onto the ground in front of the large monkey bars. He climbed up the metal bars to the top, his strength making the task much easier for him. "Reid come up!" He said, flashing his fangs ina smile.

Jizzy poured a glass of lemonade handing it to Chao. "Have some lemonade.. Deimos knows what he's doing.. I think.." SHe siad witha sheepish grin. "How is everyone back at home?" She asked then, but softly. SHe wondered is Aido had been found yet.

Reid blinked and stared up at the monkey bars apprehensively, watching as Deimos climbed them with ease. Slowly he reached out and grabbed one with one pair of arms, then let go with one hand and reached for the second. His second pair of arms more of less simple dangled uselessly at his sides.

Of course, the second bar was farther away than it looked, and hanging on with only one arm was harder than it should have been, and he quickly lost his hold and fell the short distance to the ground.

"Thanks," Chao took the drink and sipped at it, grimacing when Reid feel. "That's going to be the first of many, I just know it...."

"Things are..." she paused, "things are okay. We got a note from Aido, saying that, more or less, she's fine, safe, clothed and fed but that she hasn't the foggiest as to where she is and can't seem to get home yet...."

Deimos shook his head in disaproval. "Come up!" He shouted down at Reid, waing him up. "You no good for pirate if you no climb! COme up!" He was rather pleased with is idea. Not only would he get Reid to grow, but he'd contition his pirate crew as well.

Jizzy gave a soft sigh, filling her own glass and taking a sip. "Well, at least she is alright then.. SHe'll be back home soon, I can feel it." SHe siad witha smile. "Beside, think of all the things she could be seeing wherever she is. New places are always intriguing."

Reid huffed unhappily and shot a glare at the monkey bars, grimicing at Deimos' tone. Still, he picked himself up and crawled back over, gripping the monkey bar first with two hands then with all four. Slowly he dislodged one hand and reached out towards the next monkey bar.

Nope, still too short. He huffed, dropped the hand then attempted to lunge and ended up swinging slightly. Reid grinned, this made the other bar closer! He slowly repeated the motion with his legs and found that it worked much better. Moments later he grasped onto the second monkey bar with one hand and quickly switched over a second, then third, then finally all four were on the second.

Grinning he glowed warmly, but the glow faded slightly as he realized just how many bars were left. He reached out for the third bar, attempted to repeat the same actions as before, but went too fast and ended up loosing his hold again and flopping back onto the sand.

Chao idly picked up a stick and began to make tallymarks in the dirt, "there's two..." she looked back to Jizzy, "I know, I hope she will and I know she's probably enjoying herself, even if she is homesick."

Deimos shook his head again and made a swingng descent back onto the floor. "See, Reid have extra arm. Reid use arm go up!" He said, picking one of his extra limbs and shaking its hand. He once again climbed up the monkey bars, perching himself on top. "Now again! Come up!"

"How many times do yu think he'll fall? 10? 5?" She gave a small smile and shrug. "I bet she'll have loads of stories to tell us once she gets back. I'll make a cake and we can all hear them while we eat, yes?" SHe said, smiling. She was hoping to try to cheer her friend up.

Reid glared halfhearteded as Deimos shook his hand but nodded all the same, what Deimos was say/yelling was right. "Ki...ki," he crawled back over and grabbed the monkey bar with all four arms then swung himself and, after a few moments, grabbed onto the next with one arm then slowly transferred each of the other three limbs until he was sure he had a firm hold.

Taking a deep breath he repeated the process, taking his time and then, suddenly he was on the next one! He made until the fifth ring before falling and picked himself up before Deimos could yell at him again, quickly heading back over and starting again.

"Mmm... maybe five," Chao laughed quietly, marking another tally in the ground and nodded, "yeah, that'd be really nice, huh? We could have Rico make a dinner too and make it an evening."

Deimos beamed. He didn;t even have to shout this time. "Go Reid! COme on. You can do it!" He said, now switching into motivation mode. He was reminded of those army movies, when they were training. He was like General Deimos, though he prefered the term Captain above all.

Jizzy smiled. "We could even play a board game or soemthing. Pictionary or something of the sorts. It'll be a regular old party." She said, getting all exited at the prospect of it.

Reid smiled, already on the third ring and glowed warmly at the motivational tone, liking it much better. One hand slipped and he yelped, but clung on for all he was worth and soon he was situatiated firmly on the fourth ring.

Taking a few deep breaths he swung again. Fifth... sixth... soon he'd lost himself to the rythem- swing, grab, shift, swing, grab, change arms when they began to feel tired, swing, grab.... Suddenly a shadow was cast over him and he looked up. Deimos was standing over the bar he was currently holding.

"Up?" was he up? Had he made it?

"Or strip poker," Chao murmured, the picture of innocence as she said it.

Deimos nodded and offered a clawed hand to help Reid up to the final rung. "Up, but you not done." He said witha michevous grin and he set of across themonkey bars swinging from one to the other, stopping halfway, wavinf at Reid to coem and finishing the journey. "Now across!"

"Hell yes!" Jizzy said doing a little jig in her seat. SHe got a mental picture of Rico taking of his shirt and her cheeks flushed. SHe coughed and poured them both some more lemonade. "Yah.. I mean.. I love poker.."

Reid sighed and hung his head, oh yes, they had to get across the other bars. Bah.

Still, aftering taking a deep breath he began to slowly follow until he'd found the rythem again and managed to make it to Deimos without falling.

Chao laughed at the impromtu jig and sipped at her lemonade, "I really hope that jig was inspired by, oh, say, my brother rather than my son."

Deimos grinned. "Almost done.." He said and began to descned the other side of the monkey bars, but got lazy haflway and simply jumped off.

Jizzy's cheeks flushed an even deeper red and she gave a quiet nod. "It's silly of me isn't it, right?" SHe said, as if to confirm her affinity with the teen was just silly.

Not in the mood to have another meeting between his rump and the ground Reid continued to swing until the last rung and then let go, landing shakily on his feet with a grin.

Chao slung an arm around Jizzy's shoulder, "of course not! After all, he is my twin so I can't blame you for being so taken with him."

Deimos nodded and ruffled up Reid's hair in approval. "See those arm good for something." He said and began to climb up the rungs again. "Now we go again, one last time." He said and waited for Reid at the top once more.

Jizzy chuckled and nodded. "True. I mean, how could someone not like a person with all the awesomeness of Chao." SHe said smiling, still rather exited over the prospect of strip poker.

Reid hung his head, both at the hair ruffle [why was everyone so intent on doing that?!] and at the fact that he had to do the silly thing again. Giving his arms a look he threw a look over at his Mu, as if asking if he really had to do it.

"Common honey! Practice makes perfect!" Chao cheered, laughing at the look Reid gave her as he began to make his ascent again. "All the awesomeness? No, he just has my good looks and charm."

Even though he was being quite careful Reid still managed to make it to Deimos much faster than before. He paused, taking a few breaths then continued on past on towards the other side.

Deimos went ahead, reaching the other side a bit faster. He'd been along these things plenty of times. He beamed at Reid, occasionally saying things like "Go Reid." or "You do it!" or "If you can't you a scalywag!!" or other such motivational phrases.

Jizzy chuckled at Reid's antics. 'Deimos is like the Mishap drill sergeant. You want a sandwhich?" SHe said, digging into a large bag which contained the sandwhiches she'd made.

Reid nearly lost his holding when Deimos suddenly yelled, but regained it after a moment of flailing and quickly regaining the rythem between his limbs.

Finally he was on the last one and dropped back into the sand, "di't!" he exclaimed, looking back at the monkey bars and grinning in triumph.

"He is, isn't he? You did great luff!" Chao called towards her son, earning a beaming smile and a wave of two arms. "And a sandwich would be great. Come on over you two!" Chao called, stood and wandered about for a moment, grabbing several fairly small, but sturdy looking branches, "hey Jizzy, mind if we used some of the tupperware for a little experiment?"

Deimos rushed over to Jizzy, plopping down on the sheet.

Jizzy nodded and began to take out the sandwhiches, each in their own little tupperware. She handed one with meat to Deimos and he began to scarf it down. Taking a ham and cheese one for herself she handed the two empty tupperwares to Chao, along with two that did contain sandwhiches.

Reid followed a bit more slowly, yawning slightly and shaking out his arms.

"Ra?" he asked, looking up curiously as his Mu gave him a happy hug and steered him over towards the tupperware that had been lain out and then handed him the sticks. "Mu?" he questioned, eying the tupperware and the sticks in his hands in turn.

"Go on Reid," Chao encouraged and sat down next to Jizzy.

Reid pursed his lips and tapped one of the tupperware containers curiously. Oh, hello, that was different! With a wide grin he sat down and began to tap at each of them in turn, shifting from one arm to the other and slowly quickening his pace.

Occassionally he'd forget about one limb, or two limbs would crash into one another, but he was able to gradually make it all fall back into the haphazardly formed rythm he was making with the hollow sounding beats.

[Safety vest, don't push. What's the hurry?]

Chao hummed quietly as she continued to work on the shirt she was modifying for Reid. To her displeasure she'd been able to find only a scant amount of shirts that would be able to accommodate for Reid's wings and no long sleeved shirt or jackets that would be able to account for the firefly's arms.

Tying a knot she snapped the threat with her teeth and placed the pin back into a pin cushion and admired her work. The stitching wasn't the greatest, but it was fairly decent considering her semi-rusty skills, and, if anything, the sewing had distracted her for a good half of an hour from the general stress and worry her life was demanding from her at the moment.

"Rei-oof!" she gasped as, mid turn, a very solid object slammed into her stomach.

Reid grumbled, wings fluttering madly as he gripped his Mu's shirt with four hands. He didn't understand, he'd jumped, he'd fluttered his wings, why wasn't he still in the air?

Chao latched one arm onto her son and gasped, trying to regain her lost breath, "Reid.. hun... what was that?"

Reid looked up and grinned, "win's fer flyin' Mu!"

Chao blinked, hadn't her son hadn't known that before? "You're very right honey... where'd you learn that?"

"Teev," Fai had let him watch the box that seemed to contain a lot more than it should have earlier that day and had dutifully explained things when Reid had asked, including the Mishap's question on how the bugs in the box, much like the bugs he'd seen our in the forest and the birds, were staying the air without holding onto anything.

"Aha... well, honey you can't just launch yourself into the air when you first try to fly, you might hurt yourself," or those around you....

Reid frowned, "how Reid fly th'n?"

The guardian 'hmmed' and placed her son on the carpet, "raise your arms," the Mishap did so willingly, "and your wings," the other appendages fluttered out from under their casing and bent upwards. "Well... we could set up a bunch of soft things around a bed, okay, this isn't going to work, wings back down..." she trailed off as she pulled a long sleeved shirt down and fixed Reid's wings to be outside of it by unzipping newly installed zippers and placing the wings into the new slits. After she was sure they were comfortable fit she zipped the fabric back up so the tanned flesh wouldn't be exposed to the chilled air. The process was repeated with a t-shirt moments later. "There, how does that feel?"

Reid blinked and looked down, he eying the loose striped sleeves that covered his arms and craned his head around, warmly noting with a flutter and a glint of muted glow that his wings weren't at all trapped by the fabric. "Feel ki," he replied.

"Eureka! Now all I have to do is sew zippers into the rest of your clothing I suppose..." the guardian eyed the small clothing pile ruefully.

Reid gently grasped his Mu's shirtsleeve, "wha' bout flyin'?"

"Oh! Yes, well, we could put a lot of padding, like pillows and things around a bed and make sure there was nothing you could accidently hit and then you could use that as a place to practice for now."

Reid grinned and glowed warmly, causing Chao to giggle as the fabric lit up. The idea sounded fine to him, and with practice he was sure to be able to stay in the air soon.

"Now?" he asked, eager to get started. Chao glanced at the clothing, then to her son, who looked so excited, something she usually didn't see unless he was with his friends or making avid attempts at making music. How could she say no?

Besides she wasn't too horribly eager for all the pinpricks that lay in wait in the pile of clothing and making the practice room would distract her just as much as the sewing would have anyway. "Alright."

"Ya!" he cheered, glowing as Chao shook her head and picked him up.

"We'll do it in the guest room though, there's much less stuff in there to move anyway..." Chao murmured as she headed out of the room and down the hall.
