Maybe what Kanan did wasn't right... but think about if she Let Gonou rescue her from the castle, and they went home and lived their life. She'd eventually give birth to a taboo child, I can't see that sitting too well with Gonou (think about the case with Gojyo's mom... kinda the same thing here).

It IS really sad when Hakkai remembers his past, and all that stuff... But I think it shows just how much he cared for her, and that he still remembers her.

I think a hubris of Hakkai's is that he's just too darn nice, and when something happens that's out of his control, he takes it out on himself. It's a good thing, though, as well, because it goes to show just how caring of a person he is, and how far he's willing to go for his loved ones heart .

Myself, I don't necessarily like her like I do the others, but I respect her character. And besides, who am I to knock Hakkai's taste in women, eh?

Hmm... Kanan as a woman struck me as selfless and honourable. What I want to point out that she expressed the feelings most women get when they realise that they're pregnant with their rapist's baby. Kanan probably hated the man, and remember that Gonou was also a TEACHER. They probably planned to have kids and that for Gonou at least, it wouldn't matter.

But it would to Kanan. And sooner or later, it would to Gonou too, as they would see the son as the expression of the father, and wonder whether the father's taint would show up in the son. There would be a lot of hate directed towards such a child, not only because it was taboo, but the son of a family who had terrorised the village and threathened the women.

So I believe that Kanan acted for the best of all. Whether it WAS for the best is another matter entirely.

Unless Shuuei (or Komyou, for that matter) had a thing for little boys, then Sanzo is still a virgin.
