MagnumT and fpgilmore: Thanks 3nodding I doubt I'll upgrade at that price, but perhaps I'll splurge on a Strength Rod if I get more into the game. I'm so very, very not skilled enough for Durem. gonk
Wyrd: CONGRATS! So you can hold your trophy? Narf. Go for the Gold man!! Show those no-lifes what's what.

This game still ******** sucks. When you factor in the bait, upgrades, and lack of uncommon fish whether or not you have expensive bait and upgrades, It's ******** to make more money than you lose with this game. Which goes against the purpose of every fishing game ever. You're supposed to be REWARDED for playing the shitty game over and over, not punished.

I've gotten to the point where I'm good enough at fishing to turn a pretty good profit every time I fish. And if you sell fish on the marketplace, there are a lot of Gaians who'll pay up to three times as much as "old man Logan" will pay you for them. But my vacation is nearing its end. I'll be back in NYC on Saturday, my classes resume Monday, I have an interview for an internship on Tuesday, etc, etc... So, my fishing days are definately over.

Fishing is gonna go to the back burner for me as well. and Joshina I guess the best way to fish on Gaia is learning to filter out the crap. Bass'ken is probably the easiet place to filter as guppies and junk are slow and don't go across the whole screen. Bass and Stripers are a different matter =/
Gambino and Durem are cash crops

The only reason I spent 15,000 gold on a performance plus rod was I had sold off one of my '03 halloween items and had a lot of gold to play with.
If I were starting over from scratch, I would save for one strength pole, learn to fish the Durem game with Grade F bait, and sell the common fish until the 2000 gold spent to buy the rod was returned. As Peppy said, you can sell your fish in the marketplace for more than you would get selling them in the bait shop. People want the hats and helmets and will pay for the extra fish to trade.
Like Raven said, Durem and Gambino are the places to fish for the best return on your Grade F bait purchase. I average 200 gold per bucket for every 25 gold bag of bait. Now that I have both of the pebbo hats, I just sell them off for 11 gold each or auction them if I gather up 25 or more.

I've bought a Strength Rod. Farking expensive seeing as I've fished myself silly and not made enough profit to pay it off yet. I know I will, but in the meantime my only consolation is fishing with a Strength Rod is a heck of alot easier then fishing with that toothpick of a Basic Rod.

good luck gemstone 3nodding
meanwhile I hunt for hats. For starters I'm close to earning both Bass Helms. A long way from the Striper Helmets. Then its Boldur huntin =/
the Masks are out of my league but hey I can fish leisurely after getting the helms and helmets.

A month from now, you'll forget what gold you had to spend. Like I've posted in other threads, you can make an average of 200 gold worth of fish per bucket once you've learned to fish the Durem game. Not a bad return on a 25 gold bag of bait.

I wish the items you won for collecting fish were items people would actually want, instead of ******** fish hats. Those don't go for s**t in the Marketplace.
I reiterate... Stupidest game ever.

Super Joshina 3 I wish the items you won for collecting fish were items people would actually want, instead of ******** fish hats. I agree with THAT. I thought the items would be clothes that real fishermen would be actually caught dead wearing: rubber boots, an old hat with 20 lures stuck in it, a fisherman's beard...
