Hichiro shuddered at the other's description of the strange, wing-less Jungle Folk. Could any creature possibly be that terrifying? It was hard not to think about the possability, though. If these wing-less Jungle Folks were truly that cruel and heartless, then Hichiro never wanted to go anywhere near them.

A sudden wave of relief swept through the young Cockatoo as the Harpy Eagle took a few steps in front of him. Being this close to anyone other then his family usually made him very, very nervous. But at this very moment, the other made him feel safe, protected, almost calm.

Hichiro reflected on this for a moment. Harpy Eagles are hunters. They are made for catching and killing their prey. Usually, other Jungle Folks portray them as vicious beasts, but this one was kind. He showed no emotion at all, but his actions showed much more kindness then Hichiro thought he diserved.

Something the Finch said suddenly caught Hichiro's attention, pulling him out of his trance. "There are more? How many more?"
The thought of large amounts of the wing-less Jungle Folks made Hichiro shudder.

How could anything do something as mean as what he finch was describing? Where those wingless creatures that mean? And what power did they have that could do such a thing.

"Maybe if we talk to them. They may not know they are destroying homes and food. I'm sure they would stop if we told them. Nobody could be as crule to be doing this on purpose."

Xavier wanted to meet these wingless Jungle Folk and talk to them. He was curious. He was always very curious and this was something extreamly new to investigate. It never really occured to him that anything could be dangerous because he had never gotten those warnings from his parents. Sometimes it was amazing he had survived this long.

Trevor remained perched on his branch while he whitnessed everything going on. Within a few minutes, even more Jungle Folk began to arrive. One of them explained the truth about the weird Jungle Folk with no wings that were in the strange thing that always flew high above the jungle.

Some of the things that the Finch said made Trevor curious. How close were they when everything he described happen in comparison to where they were now? How close did he actually get to the strange Jungle Folk? What was the strange Jungle Folks' reactions to seeing the Jungle Folk? Questions like this and more kept going through his head as he remained perched in the tree watching the group.

However, there were too many Jungle Folk there at the time so he was cautious of going and asking the Finch questions. Trevor wanted to speak with the Finch, but he also did not like large crowds of people he did not know. So for now he would watch the group from a little distance and see what other information he could pick up. Though, he did plan on getting just slightly closer so he flew a few trees closer and then went and perched once more.

When his little meal was done which was rather unsatisfying he set out to find the source of that noise. What he found was a gathering of those he stayed near. He didn't know anyone's name or where some of them lived but most were familiar. His arrival came at the end of the story and to those questions that followed. With a soft voice he answered from a perch in the tree. "Too many to count...they are afraid and won't listen to reason..."

His fingers gripped into the branch, those charcoal colored wings slightly flared out to help keep his balance, and of course the spear in his other hand. "Should stay away...move farther into the forests."

"They move frequently, sometimes there are so many and sometimes only a few, but they have beasts that make a black cloud that smells foul. It takes the trees, and they are gone. I tried confronting them... we all did at the edge, but they can't talk to the lemurs, only us, and they... wouldn't listen. They had these things that made a loud noice, and when it made that noise one of us would die. We knew who it'd be, cause it needed to point to them first but... its not like it hasn't been tried." The Finch explained his body sinking onto the forest floor, his wings subconsciously wrapping himself in a secure embrace. He didn't notice his lack of attention.

"I'm sure... maybe not all are bad. I trapped one who seemed... okay but he just asked a bunch of questions... but more came. And we had to go into hiding. They asked us things like how did we survive, and very personal things that made us uneasy. How many children could we bear at a time. When were they bor, how did we raise them... Rude things. They even asked us how...how... how it happens." He was growing into the mood for talking, but he didn't want to say more after that. His face colored slightly in embarrassment which he tried to quell. So when another voice interupted him he startled and took to his guard again. But he was relieved. Even if he eyed this person with his intensly green eyes. He didn't like that spear, and his wings unsheilded him. He could dodge an attack take off, but Eagles were hunters and Finches were gatherers, but fighters nonetheless. Still Eagles were stronger physically and had an easier time maneuvering and swiftly catching a running prey.

He wanted to scream at Xavier also for his innocence, not all jungle gfolk were nice! Not all creatures were either. So why should this be different. But he couldn't bring himself to be spiteful, it was a wate of energy and his was still unsatisfied. Instead he... kind of felt sorry for the kid.

"Just... stay away from them like the Eagle says. They are trouble." The Finch looked back up nibbling upon the fruit again. He was grateful for something to sustain him but he made sure he kept his distance between the two eagles, for he felt much outnumbered. Such a different feeling from just a few months ago.

Tayo listened to the end of the Finch's tale and didn't move, yet inside of him a cold feeling of dread formed in the pit of his stomach. Their species were being threatened by outside, imposing forces who killed and burrowed their noses into their business. This was not right.

Another voice brought him out of his terrifying downward spiral of thoughts and he looked up to see another Harpy Eagle join their group and to further accentuate the danger they were all in.

"What do you propose we do?" he said in a voice of dead calm that did not reflect the fear he was starting to feel, "We cannot fight them. We should move out of this jungle... But we do not know what lies beyond the mountains. There might be harsh, treacherous conditions that we won't be able to survive.

He looked around with his eyes, his head never moving an inch. Jungle Folk needed trees to surround them. It was their habitat, their home. Without trees, they were lost. Some of them flew to the mountains but those trips were done for fun usually. No Jungle Folk would be foolish enough to live in the mountains. The trees brought safety and food to them. And now they were being cut down. Cut down and dragged away, eating at the jungle like a giant starving beast.

"You've seen them as well, have you?" he asked the new Harpy Eagle. He looked down and glared hard at the Finch. It wasn't a hateful look; he was angry at these newcomers and his eyes were the only windows to show his emotions without bursting out in rage.

He was quiet and rather still as he sat there perched in the branch. It was a good question, what could they do? Well he's already left his home once and seeing this was his new home he really didn't want to leave it. With a subtle shift in how he was seated he turned his head to look behind him, past his wings, past the branches to a place no longer there. "I would say fight them," he muttered softly. "We can't keep running.." Slowly he looked back down at the group.

"No I don't like the idea of doing it...but where else would we go? This is our home isn't it?" Not that any of his family lived through the battle at home. His gaze shifted to Tayo and slowly he nodded his head. "My clan was wiped out awhile ago by them.."

Interesting. Very interesting.

Shiro's day had started off rather dull, with nothing to do but lounge in his favorite tree and deflect as much of the mid-afternoon heat as possible. It was days like this that Shiro hated: finding fruit for his morning meal had taken him most of the morning, so when he had finally found a tree bursting with bananas he had gathered enough to tide him over for a while, rather then having to search for the same tree again. However, this left him with nothing to do but wait until the rumble of hunger kicked back in. As such, he was fully prepared to have to spend the rest of the afternoon winging about, trying to find something to catch his interest. It turned out he hadn't had to wait long.

He had barely flown for a minute when the quiet burble of far-away voices reached his ears. Banking sharply in the air, he settled himself on a tree branch and listened closely. He could pick out at least three distinct voices, four or five at most. His interest suitably piqued, Shiro hopped from the branch and took flight, flying as silently has he could so as not to inform the others to his presence.

When the voices were finally close enough to hear clearly, Shiro alighted on a branch and gazed through the trees, searching for the owners of the voices. Finally, he spotted them: a group of five Jungle Folk in a clearing not far from where he sat. He seemed to have arrived in the middle of a conversation, and an important one at that, if the solemn looks on their faces were anything to go by. However, there was currently a pause in the discussion, and Shiro had no idea what they could be talking about.

He turned his body slightly to get into a more comfortable position and nearly started off his branch when he saw yet another Jungle Folk perched on a tree slightly ahead of him. He was a hoatzin, Shiro could tell by the reddish-black hue of his wings. Nothing could distract Shiro when he was set on something, so he hadn't even noticed the other Jungle Folk until now. Still, the hoatzin was ahead of him and slightly to the left, and the trunk of the tree concealed most of Shiro's body, so he wasn't too concerned. He would probably be spotted eventually, of course, but Shiro was too intrigued by what was going on in the clearing to be worried about being seen. The hoatzin seemed to be doing the same thing as him: eavesdropping. Obviously the discussion had to be interesting in some way.

"What a little group this is turning out to be." Shiro thought with an amused smirk, as he waited for eagerly for the next words to be spoken.

"I agree with him. We have to fight if they mean harm. This is our home. I don't want to try living anywhere else. I like it here."

Xavier was set on this plan now. Once an idea got into his head it was hard for him not to follow through. Beside to him there was nothing else they could do. Move to the mountains just wasn't an opption. They didn't know if they could survive out there.

Hichiro shrunk at Xavier's words. Fight? Hichiro? he wasn't exactly made for such things. Besides, the wing-less folk had things that instantly kill. Could the small group of Jungle Folk around him truly survive a full assult?

Suddenly, Hichiro felt like he was being watched. It was most likely just him being paranoid, but he wasn't sure. He lanced all around him, feeling incredably vulnerable in the small clearing where he and his fellow Jungle Folk were gathered. If they were attacked by the wing-less people, they would surely die.

He gulped once and, nervous, and decded to speak his mind.
"If.....if the wing-less Jungle Folk are truly as dangerous as you say.....do you truly believe that fighting them is the best idea? I don't want to run, this is my family's home and I never want to leave.....but if those creatures can kill us that easily......I don't think we should be anywhere near them."

The mixed suggestions made Tayo think. His hunter instinct told him to fight, to beat off the invaders and send them packing. Yet he didn't know if they were more powerful than the Jungle Folk. By the Finch's description, they were.

He watched Hichiro glance around nervously in the trees and he murmured, "Other Jungle Folk are listening us. Don't worry." His Eagle eyes could make out the wings in between the leaves, so he wasn't afraid. Their conversation (especially in such an odd group of mixed species) was bound to attract attention, especially considering the severity of the subject.

Finally, he threw his spear down in anger. He hated feeling helpless in situations. If he was helpless, how could he protect his siblings? Tayo turned around and took a few steps away from everyone, his hands on his hips as he tried to collect himself.

He turned around and looked at the Finch, still looking angry. "What's your name?" he asked, "And yours?" he added to the other Harpy Eagle.

With these messengers of ill news, he figured he should at least know who he was talking to. It gave him a small measure of relief that he could at least find out some sort of information, useless though it may be in the face of their threat.

Wingless Jungle Folk? Homes being threatened? Fighting? The mystery was deepening by the minute. If those in the clearing were to be believed, some unknown force was disturbing their jungle. Shiro had seen those large white things in the sky as well as anyone else, had heard others speculating on what they could be. Now here, listening to this unusual group speaking of wingless Jungle Folk, Shiro couldn't help but think that the two were connected.

He saw one of the smaller members of the group, a Sulfer Cockatoo, cast his eyes around nervously as though he could feel the eyes of those watching from the jungle upon him. Shiro sat back a little further on his branch, but he was sure he had been noticed. Less than a minute later his suspicions were confirmed when the sharp eyes of a large Harpy Eagle in the party fixed onto his hiding place. The Eagle swiftly reassured the Cockatoo and Shiro could tell that he was someone who didn't miss much.

He briefly considered speaking to the group in the clearing now that they were aware of his presence, but decided to hold back for now. He was not one who enjoyed being around others, but if their decision (assuming they could all agree on anything, of course) seemed at all promising, perhaps he would join them. After all, he loved the jungle; it was his home and, in a way, it was like his family. Without it, he would have nowhere left to go.

There was no real winning response. They couldn't kill them with their spears while they were inside those hollow beasts. And while they were outside of them they had those loud weapons that scared off even the fiercest of cats. Sighing he shrugged a bit. "We'd need a good plan to fight them with..otherwise I fear we will just have to leave.." As long as they had food or the ability to find it they could survive anywhere or so he believed.

His attention drifted to the other who spoke. His name? It was a question he had to ponder. These were other Jungle Folk and though they sometimes got into battles they were all still like family. "Ivalice."
