IvoryDoll Britomartis-the-Valiant IvoryDoll Britomartis-the-Valiant That video is disturbing. gonk How is it disturbing? Dx Its a fun dance. Its sort of.. normal here I didn't really think it would be out of the ordinary somewhere else, sorry. sad But with clothing ofcorse >.<Yes, with clothing please! That's what disturbed me; the distinct lack of it. =P Haha, no the clothing is always on and... actual clothing. We did that dance in school once on stage, I miss dance practice sad
Ok, I realized I went overboard with posting vids, got carried away Dx Sorry! >.>I've a feeling it would be much better in real clothes, not fake clothes. Sorry for my reaction; around where I live, many women don jingly undergarments and skirts and perform jiggly, stomach-wobbling (they generally are plump to fat) dances. They scare me.

That scares me too, but we don't have many of those, not out in the public anyway. I don't even dance like that in front of guys, too shy? I guess xD Wait, I don't dance with/in front of guys, period.

Unless its salsa dancing cool The costumes reminded me of those women with the tambourines who think they are so sensuous mimicking "oriental dances" in next to nothing. Unfortunately as a costumer, I can't ignore that aspect. We should make an international dance thread. 3nodding

Hellenistic For a more modern, 'pop' type style I would suggest Nawal Al Zoghbi. I have a few of her cd's, I like to call her the Britney Spears of the Middle East (but with actual talent). Nawal al Zoghbi is one of my favorites. I also really like 4 Cat, but my only tape of them died...

I've heard a few of the names you guys have mentioned before, and from what i've heard, I like. But I just haven't gotten much into it. I probably will this summer though.

I'm sorry that I'm dragging these thing up, but I'll probably be doing that a lot ninja Anyone here heard of Azam Ali and her band Niyaz? She's an Iranian singer who grew up in India and is now in the US, and she's probably one of my favorite singers ever! Her band is considered a kind of world fusion, but she has a couple of solo albums in different genres. She also had a group named Vas that was pretty awesome, but is no longer in existence. One of my favorite songs is Allahi Allah, but all of her stuff is pretty amazing. She puts music to a lot of poems by Rumi and other Persian poets. I'll have to listen all the links here once I'm in a place with faster internet!

Interesting song, Ainwyn. It really is a fusion. I hadn't read all through your post when I started listening to it, but I was surprised. The Indian influence is certainly apparent, and it reminds me a little of songs that my Pakistani friends send me too. Is the song in Farsi? It sounds much like Arabic to me, but maybe that's because I haven't been listening to Arabic songs recently.
