The squid nearly succeeds in biting it's own tentacle. The assassin vine seems to like this. It drops the boy to wrap it's vine around the squid. Anyel watches horrified as what seems to be a squid-plant make-out session begins in front of him.
Above his head, several pairs of hands pull the boy from the water.
The burning in Bel's lungs is soothed by a cool pair of lips against his and a soft pair of hands in his chest. He is briefly aware of a fine-boned face hovering over him like a sunrise. The other man looks out of place in the gathering darkness. Then Bel lapses into unconsciousness again.
[Jet's turn again.]

Taking advantage of this somewhat disturbing turn of events, Anyel looks up towards the victim. Not seeing him, he swims up towards the surface to search, hoping he hasn't been pulled under.

Beneath him, the squid and the vine continue to 'grapple.' The squid picks up the vine and with a sudden burst of speed disappears.
On the docks a crowd is standing around a still figure and a man leaning over it. He glances to the side and silver eyes meet Anyel's. Then he rises and moves to the edge of the dock. "Are you the one we have to thank for his safety?" The man asks, nodding to the figure on the ground.

Anyel watches the squid and vine elope with fascinated horror. Well. Perhaps he'd done a good deed.
Turning his attention back to the people on the dock, he is relieved to see the victim there. He's not so pleased to be noticed by the human. It will be awkward if they realize who he is. Putting on his best innocent expression, he shrugs, trying his best to convey "I am just a random passing Triton, I don't speak your language!" and makes to duck back underneath the water.

"Hey, wait!" the man calls, reaching after him. This time he speaks in the bubbling of brooks. Anyel recognizes the aquan, although the dialect is different.

Well, there went that plan. Stopping with his head barely out of the water, he replies in aquan, "I am merely passing through."

The other man takes a moment to mull over the native speaker's faster aquan. "I just want to know what happened," he says finally, "And I think he dropped a sword. Did you see any of it?"

Anyel considers the man's words. The faster he answered, the faster he could get out of here. "I only saw him being squeezed by the creature. It's gone now," he adds helpfully, and starts slowly edging downward.
