a) To your horror, the little rodent dives when he reaches the middle of the fountain and disappears below the water. You wait long minutes for him to resurface, but he never does. You're left to conclude your cheese has gone to a watery grave. You're out. D=
Those who picked b), let's continue!
You jump into the fountain and start swimming after the rat, who seems to be making directly for the middle of the round pool. When he reaches the center, his tail flashes in the air briefly and before you know it, he's dived down under the water!
Swimming faster you manage to reach the middle and peer down through the water. There's a grate at the bottom of the fountain, and in the grate you can see a small, rat-sized hole. That must be where he went!
The grate looks pretty rusty; in fact it seems to be hanging off on one corner... if you could get it off the bottom, you could probably fit through.
You can either:
a) Hold your breath, dive down and pull on the grate. Desire for cheese has given you superhuman strength!
b) Grab one of the decorative rocks from the base of the statue in the middle of the fountain, and use it to hammer at the parts of the grate still attached to the wall. You will smash for cheese!

a) Did you forget that old saying about never trying to do underwater iron work while wearing baggy sleeves? You did?? Well that explains why your sleeve is now caught on the rusty grate. Luckily for you a passing policeman scoops you out before you drown, but your cheese is gone forever. You're out. D=
Those who picked b), let's continue!
Using the rock as a hammer, you bash at the grate until it comes loose and falls away. Squirming into the dark hole, you come out into a dry tunnel. The first thing you notice is ... it's dark. Like srsly dark.
You can:
a) Go forward into the darkness! You fear nothing that stands between you and cheese!
b) Climb back out of the fountain and look for another grate. It probably goes down to the sewer anyway; there have gotta be other sewer grates around right?
c) Pull out your trusty lighter and shed some light on the situation.

b) Fortune favors the bold, y'know. You climb back out, only to be greeted by an angry policeman who wants to remind you there's no swimming allowed in the fountain. Looks like no cheese for you. You're out. D=
c) You pull out your lighter and get a spark, just as you remember why flames and sewer gases don't mix. Hey, you may not have cheese, but at least you're giving the rest of the park a really neat fireworks show - that fountain looks pretty exploding against the afternoon sky. You're out. D=
Those who chose a) move on!
You creep forward in the dark, ignoring whatever slimy thing is brushing against your arm. You're in luck, though! You can hear little rat feet scurrying along the tunnel ahead of you - something you can follow without seeing where you're going.
After a minute or two of squirming along the dark tunnel, you come out into a more open area. The tunnel goes off in two branches. One is completely pitch black. The other has a tiny bit of light filtering down it. You can't hear the rat anymore.
You can:
... do stuff but we have a winner!
