"Yeah, having those wings must really tire you out and all. And believe me, you really /are/ like a humming bird, I mean they're always moving and you are too. They also seem like they would be cheerful birds, you're a very cheerful fae, my friend!" Sam told Fern.
Just then the waitress came back, smiling. "My name is Emily, I'll be your server today, can I get you girls something to drink?" "Uhmm, actually I think we're ready to order." Sam said, "To start off I'd like some of your potato skins and for my meal I'd like a bacon cheeseburger please. Medium Rare."
Emily smiled then looked at Fern, waiting to take her order.

Fern gave her order of waffles and whatnot, wriggling in her seat with anticipation. Once the girl had left to get their food, Fern returned her attention to Sam. "I rarely get to talk to them... I think they're too busy." It didn't occur to her that the idea of her talking to animals could be strange.

"Wow, you can talk to animals?" Sam had no idea, she thought all Fern could do was fly. "Is there anything else I need to know about you? If there is beware, It's kind of like icebreakers gum, prepare for the spontaneous woah." Sam laughed at her reference to the comercial she had just seen a few days ago.

Fern had no idea what she was talking about with the gum reference, but giggled along with her anyhow. "Yes, I can. And plants. Well, it's not really talking with plants. But it is. I don't know!" Fern took a finger to her lips in thought. "Oh! There is something else..." She looked around the make sure they were out of sight for a moment before seeming to disappear in a little glittery cloud. "I can do this, too!" Stepping along the handle of her spoon was a small version of the fae, arms outstretched for balance. "This way I can fly!"

"Oh my gosh, that's amazing!" Sam stared in awe at the little figure of Fern standing on a salad spoon. "You're so tiny... and SOOO CUTE!!" Sam laughed. Then she added, "So are plants and animals any interesting... are they nice?" Sam giggled, how funny her question sounded.

"It's just like people. Sometimes they are, sometimes not. Plants are just sort of there, but they still know when they're happy and when they aren't." Fern decided to return to normal size in case someone saw them. It wasn't exactly polite for her to be switching sizes in public. It had a tendency of making people skittish. "But it can be fun! It's just a normal thing, really..."

"haha, yes a normal thing that millions of people don't even know exist." Sam said.
Just then the waitress arrived with their meals and their drinks. Sam rubbed her hands together then started digging in to her cheesy and bacony potato strips. The inn had delicious ones. Some of the best she had ever tasted. Every now and then Sam would take a sip of her sprite to cool down her mouth. The potato skins had just come out of the oven and were very hot! Remembering her manners she looked up and asked Fern if she wanted one of the last two that were left. Then she started on the bacon cheeseburger, which she added onions and pickles to. She basically swallowed the burger whole.

Fern was stuffed from her waffles, strawberries and whipped cream. "I'm good, thank you." She sighed, loving the sensation of a full stomach. "Now I'm going to be lazy as a summer rabbit. This was so nice, though. And to think, I thought I'd have to venture about on my own!"

"I know, thak you for being the first friend I've found here, Fern. We had a lot of fun, but I have sooo much unpacking to do it's not even funny. So, let me pay for the meal and you can take the tip?" Sam suggested, not knowing whether Fern even had any money. "Then we can chat some more as we walk back to the academy!" Sam smiled then walked over to the waitresses to pay for lunch. She got into some conversation with one of the girls and ended up promising to come back as soon as she could and ask for the girl, Megan she believed her name was called. Sam waved goodbye to the waitresses then waited by the door for Fern.

Fern obliged to paying the tip, and soon enough followed Sam to the door. "I've already done my unpacking. But, the place doesn't feel like a home just yet. Not yet." Of course, making it feel like home would require obtaining many houseplants, and decorative things like paper butterflies and fake flowers. Being a fae meant being as close to nature as possible, even when one was supposed to be staying in a dorm, which after a wave and a laugh, she returned to.

Anna walked in, laughing and chatting, still hanging onto Pyro's arm with a warm sense of friendship. This man was already fascinating to her, and she hoped the sense of finding a kindred spirit wouldn't wash away with time. "What will you be eating?" she inquired. "I love the waffles with strawberries and whipped cream they have here. It's divine, really." Once again her beaming brown eyes looked up into his enchanting ones, waiting to hear anything he had to say.

"Breakfast for dinner? A wonderful idea. Though I think I'll be eating a bit more than that." Grinning, he looked down at her, captured for a moment by the sparkling brown eyes looking up at him. Pulling his gaze away, he led her to the dining area of the inn. A waitress greeted them and led them to their table. Pyralis pulled out her chair and let her sit before taking his own seat. "What can I get for you two? Anything off of the menu. We even serve breakfast at this hour." She placed a menu in front of each of them.
Well that's good, he thought. "This lovely woman here would like to have waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. A glass of orange juice as well." He hoped Anna didn't mind him ordering for her, but it seemed the right thing to do. "As for me, I'll have," Pyralis took a moment to scan the menu and then decided. "two steaks, medium-rare, hashbrowns, and a ham and cheese omlet." The waitress wrote everything down, but raised her eyebrows slightly as she took down the man's order. Being a dragon, he could have eaten much more, but had learned to temper his appetite somewhat when in human form. "Coming right up." Taking the two menus, she walked away to get their orders. The man's attention returned to the elven woman he was with. "I hope you don't mind my ordering for you dear Anna." She seemed kind and friendly, he just hoped their wasn't a temper underneath that sweet expression.

Anna blushed once more. He was either a very sweet man, or truly thought she was beautiful. Even his concern that he had done the wrong courtesy was making her glow.
Actually, the fact that he had taken it upon himself to order her meal was thought charming. "Not at all! You ordered just what I wanted. Even added orange juice, too." Anna situated herself casually in her seat before going on. "Ah... so, what do you think you'll be teaching? I'm a healer myself, though you seem so well-rounded, I couldn't take a guess for you." Anna didn't wish for it to sound flirtatious, despite her being already very taken with Pyralis. His old-world charm was something right out of her books.

The way Anna kept blushing kept the charming smile on Pyralis's face. It was just so adorable. He was glad that he had ordered the right thing.
"Ah, so you're a healer. Well, I must say, I might have had to fake being sick if you were my school nurse." He winked at her. Good old school days; he had never actually faked being sick before, but he had gotten into other troubles. The thought made him laugh internally. "To tell you the truth, I don't know what I'll teach. That's part of what I wanted to discuss with the headmaster. Whatever class he wants taught that I'm able to, then that'll be the class I teach. Maybe a literature class, or a type of P.E. I'm sure the students would benefit well from learning martial arts. What did you enjoy about school?" What kind of child had this charming lady been?

"You're terrible!" she laughed, still keeping those rosy cheeks.
On the subject of school, though, Anna once more had that pang of homesickness. "I was schooled at home by my grandfather, Nicholas Breck. He's a very well-to-do scholar, who has gathered the utmost respect in most educational circles." Anna didn't want to brag, but it was indeed true. "He's mostly responsible for getting me into admissions work at the Academy." That, of course, was to get her away fro her past relationship which was rather abusive. She strayed from that story, though. "But, anyhow, he was the one who suggested that I stay at home where I could learn most of my lessons with a more involved experience."
