He only nodded, his intense protective instincts growing stronger by the minute. The feeling in the air wasn't normal, and far from the pleasant feeling it had just held. No, the feeling was of mischief and menace. With an unseen movement, Pyralis was standing. Quickly deciding he wanted Anna by his side rather than waiting, he offered his hand for her stand. Besides, he had a feeling she wasn't one to stay put anyways.

The spirit appeared once more and then with a laugh disappeared. "What the...?" Unnerving laughter came from all sides, but quiet enough it seemed that no one near would hear. It definitely wanted their attention.

Anna shivered physically. Such a terrible feeling she had, and just from the air. As Pyralis stood and offered his hand, Anna quickly took it. It wasn't until she heard laughter that she pressed herself into his side.

A malevolent spirit, she thought with another subtle shiver. With her openness to the world around her, Anna was not only sensitive to the waves from the Gate, but to some degree of spiritual energy as well. It was what made her an excellent healer in dire situations. But how can it manifest itself so easily? It can't be from this realm... She stayed silent, holding on to Pyralis and allowed his protective nature to take control.

One arm stayed around Anna, holding her tightly. His sharp eyes scanned the area, daring the spirit to show itself.

The laughter stopped. Now his ears were straining to catch every sound in the gardens. No others seemed present. That was well. Other witnesses would have to be delt with and that was troublesome. Come on, show yourself.

And there it was. Split in three, it shot out from a pond and from behind two trees. All charged straight at the couple. Grotesque and bloody, the sight would be frightening if Pyralis had not seen the wars he had. Instead, he acted quickly moving in a circle around Anna. With his martial arts training, he circled and made contact with each piece of the spirit, putting energy into his fist so that they would repel it. It was sent hurling backwards and had the effect he wanted, but something still wasn't right. It had felt almost solid. This was a substantial spirit and definitely not from the human realm. Cackling, the spirit was one again, and grinning, danced about in a taunting manner. "Anna, do you realize, this must have come through the gate. It has a great chance of being what put it off balance." His sharp mind had put together the puzzle and it was likely the elf had already come to this conclusion as well.

"Yes." Anna herself was both stunned by Pyralis' incredible skill and by the fact that the spirit was nearly a whole being. It certainly wasn't right at all. It also didn't help that it was a creature from her nightmares, finally embodied...

In the small window of taunting calm, Anna drew all of her energy into herself, becoming perfectly centered. In this state, she was clear-minded, calm, and swift. Although she had no weapon and wasn't trained like Pyralis, she could make some sort of get away if need be. Looking at the being, her eyes posed somewhat of a challenge with subtle defiance.

Seemingly happy now that it had a response from both, it charged them again, swooping upwards to avoid any attack. Then it was gone, disappeared to who knows where. Most likely going to cause mischief.

Pyralis shook his head. "This is not good. We know something has tampered with the gate, " Arondis had filled him in on all he needed to know. " and this has to be it. I shudder to think if something else escaped into this unsuspecting realm." He wondered if this was one of it's first times branching out from the school. Surely it had been sticking around the academy messing with students, but who could be sure?

Taking in a deep breath, the man slowly let it out, attempting to release all tension. Even so, his arm tightly pulled Anna to him, not yet meeting her gaze. He struggled with the fire within. After several minutes of quiet breathing, Pyralis regained complete control. "We should report this to someone." Perhaps Arondis? True the headmaster was in control, but the gatekeepers would benefit from the information more quickly than Kaien.

Anna took time to calm herself as well. She noted how terribly upset the fish were, darting around in a tizzy. The entire energy of the place had been thrown off with the being's mere presence, it seemed.

"We should. Your mother would more than likely be the best candidate, being at the Gate." Energy still centered, Anna broke from his grasp and walked silently to the waters of the pond. She knelt down by the very edge of the water, and held out her hand.
Come, little one, she thought, as her lips moved soundlessly. Soon the small copper fish came out of it's hiding place, towards her hand. Gently, very gently, Anna sunk her fingertips below the surface to touch the small creature, who didn't dart away as all the others did, though their movements were less frequent with her presence. What Anna was doing was sending her calm into the koi, using it as a vessel of sorts.
"Adorae," she whispered. Share. It was a simple command, but it was understood. The koi backpedaled in the water, until it could swim off to where the others were. In no time, the koi were calm once more, all swimming in a mass around the copper fish. Seeing her work finished, Annabelle stood with a slight sway, feeling just a little tired from the effort. Energy certainly didn't work in that realm the way it did back home, but at least the area would settle back down and function as it did before.

And just like that, Pyralis was calmed as well. Just see her work like that was a comfort to him. She was a power all her own.

With a gentle smile, he caught her in his strong arms when she swayed. "Easy there, A'mael." His gaze flicked to their picnic. At least the food was pretty much gone. Anna had ate her fill and he had mostly finished off the rest as they had talked. It really had been wonderful until the spirit had shown up. "I think you are right. We should tell my mother." He kissed the top of her head and then set to work packing up the remains of their lunch. After that, it would be off to the gate.

It was a bit of a surprise for him to be right there as she stood, but he was, and he set her upright again. Anna knew in her heart tht he would always be there to catch her, to kiss her as he did. It was a dangerous emotion for Anna to feel, but she was very well on her way to admitting that she truly and honestly loved Pyralis.

She helped him gather the picnic fixings quietly, as her energy was very drained after setting things right again. After folding the blanket, Anna took his hand once more, just in case she stumbled from fatigue. She didn't want it to show, though. The thoughts of meeting Pyralis' mother under two circumstances at once, though, only made it worse. Last time she saw her, she wasn't courting her son, and she wasn't aware of a malevolent spirit on the loose on the grounds. Would Arondis approve? That question was more priority in her mind, something that troubled her greatly. She was a teacher; the safety of the school should have come before her love.

Which, she had to say, Pyralis indeed was.

Sensing her worry, Pyralis took Anna's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, now holding the packed basket once again in the other. "It'll all be alright, my dear Anna. All in due time." With a charming smile, he led her from the gardens. The two would make their way back to the school and to the gatehouse where they could travel to the Other Realms. The man had only come from their yesterday. How odd a feeling to be going back, and with a lovely woman at his side. His love, of that he was sure.

-----

The lovely elven woman once again travelled to the edges of the pond where so much had happened within the past few days. Finding love, and being attacked by a malevolent spirit, though, were hardly events she could have seen coming.

"This is where it all happened," she told Damien, sweeping her arm over the landscape.

The Teenage Screwup

Damien looked around. Everything was so beautiful and peaceful. It was hard for him to imagine a fight happening here. He knelled down and stared into the pond, hoping to gained some insight from the koi swimming around inside.

Walking down the path that was becoming so familiar to him, a man with red markings to match his eyes entered the water gardens. Even after his and Anna's night here, the koi still started in a bit of a frenzy at the strong presence of a predator, but they calmed back down on their own.

"A'mael." The word came out in a glad sigh as well as sounding in his beloved's mind. Walking right up to her, the dragon in a man's form embraced the elf and gave her a gentle kiss before slipping around behind her to hold her around her waist. Pyralis also registered the angel there. The boy appeared very young, but looks could be decieving when dealing with Other Realm beings. Perhaps that was the reason for his possesive, but gentle, hold on the fair elf. Anna had chosen him despite his beast form, but no reason would penetrate his stubborn mind. And even so, his words came out in his usual polite manner, if only in a bit of an interrogating tone. "Good day, boy. I don't believe we've met before, so allow me to start. I am Pyralis. And yourself?"

"Pyralis, what are you doing here?" she laughed, though she seriously did want to know how on earth he had found them. Had he been that worried about her, since she had neglected their morning meeting?

The angel stood up and turned his head slightly to look at the man over his should. "Damien. I've heard a lot about you......" He sat back down and continued staring at the koi, intending to ignore his friend and her.....boyfriend.

Damien. He would remember that name well. Pyralis didn't relinquish his hold. "Well my dear Anna, Arondis bid me to come and look over the area again to see if there was anything else to find. She's narrowing down her search, but hopes for more substantial things to report since she can only leave her post every so often." A corner of his mouth turned up into a smile and he finally let go of Anna and faced her. "You've been talking about me A'mael? Honorable things I hope." His smile grew and he winked, laughing. Not wanting to be rude, he turned to the angel. "How are you and Anna aquainted might I ask?"
