He weighed his options carefully. Stay alone, in the cold, not knowing where the hell he was or really care, or walk around with a hot girl, getting to know the place. The whole thing took about two seconds to figure out.

"Yeah, sure. Walk around the school with a pretty girl, why not?"
With a small shove, Alex was back to standing on his own two feet. He smiled, though that time genuinely, and held his arm out.
"You into the whole escorting thing, or no?"

She hooked her arm around his and grinned.
" Ah, another one of my favorite pastimes. Escorting handsome young men about a school campus." She winked at him and mentally reviewed the campus.
" So, anything you'd like to see first? The village? More of the grounds? My cell phone number?" She winked at him again with a roguish smile.

You can show me aaaaanything you want, love.
Despite the thoughts, Alex did have morality, and wasn't about to tug her into a spare dorm room any time soon.

"Take me anywhere you want. That last one, though, yeah. We'll exchange some digits once we settle down somewhere."
Ah, the double meanings, he thought, as they began to head out of the gardens.

" Alright then..." Danni careened her fingers gently over his arm while she thought, bumping her head against his shoulder.
" Have you go your uniforms yet? I'd be happy to take us down to the village and grab them. There's a rather nice food joint down there that I haven't gotten the chance to go there yet." She threw him an inquisitive look.

She's either very friendly or pushing things. And Alex couldn't tell which one it was. Not that he cared, but it worried him that she was starting to like something she barely even knew.

"Uniforms... sounds fun. Food, though, sounds way better. I'll treat?" Alex was being so careful with her as they walked. He watched her expression, her eyes, her lips, watching for anything that might tell him that he was mistaken and that she really was just toying around with him. The dream couldn't last.

But it could sure go on for awhile.

A rather subdued Gladys grimaced to herself as she wandered completely and totally randomly through the partial maze of the Chime Gardens.
Pondering absently mindedly over the current predicament of the hour- suitable clothes, and exactly where she was expected to get them.
The loose white wind-breaker she wore over her lightly tattered t-shirt would be just dandy where she was from, but out here?
And she was fairly certain by the few students she'd seen out and about her attire wasn't exactly the 'norm' by any standards, with the weather or without.

Her eyes passed easily over bare trees, benches, a few unheeded side paths leading to who-knows-where, but nowhere near as many people as would surely be out in better weather than this; not that cold weather affected many of her decisions- but she was just trying to see if from another perspective; and hopefully getting that perspective correct...
Not that it mattered, really, she still needed to get a uniform soon, and probably a real jacket if possible...
She more than likely wouldn't wear it, but if a staff member (or anyone else) asked at least she'd have the excuse of 'I left it in my dorm on accident' rather than: 'Uuuuh... OMG! IS THAT A PIRATE SHIP!?!?!'

August wondered about, pausing every once in a while to glance a the view. Much of what he read and seen in books were sights yet to be seen for himself, and yet, as he saw them, he felt only amazement, while others saw them as regular trees.

The amazement only lasted for a few seconds until he returned to thought. He had yet to purchase a uniform, and being since he was too much of a coward to go fetch this Elliot person, he was stuck here...until, of course, a staff member kicked him out. He winced; He had only been here a day or two, maybe less, and already the fear of not fitting in was stoned into his mind.

But, he was a bookworm in both history and english, not a normal, everyday teen. It was perphaps, natural.

He walked further into the gardens, until something, or someone, caught his eye. It was a person...looked like a girl.

"Hey!" He shouted, trying to catch her attention.

Gladys turned just a little too fast, hand soaring to her left pocket to wrap protectively around the cheap little cell phone that resided there, suddenly narrowed eyes scouting the area before resting on August.
She opened her mouth as if about to respond -confusion scattering her expresion to unknown areas of the facial spectrum and back again- but swiftly closed it again, thinking.

She hadn't really actually... Spoken? To anyone here yet, and she hadn't exactly been the most social of all the kids back home, but still...
"H-hello."
She mumbled, hoping in a back corner of her mind that the whoever-this-was had managed to catch the word, rather than just a torrent of nonsense on the breeze, appraising his appearance without really thinking about it.

August began to walk towards her, catching the small greeting. He could have acted more rationally, but he had no idea how exactly to talk to someone of the opposite sex, save a casual manner.

"Say, do you know what this place is called?" He said, trying to get small talk going before introducing himself. He could, perphaps, figure out what kind of person she was, or maybe make a friend. He was new to his own social life, after all; He usually spoke to his brothers within the confined library at home.

"The Chime Gardens."
Gladys responded automatically, the usual smile flowing easily across her face, and a low flush coloring her cheeks as she swiftly dropped her hand from her left pocket.
She needed to remember that she was in a school now, rather than her crazy house, and not everyone that yelled 'HEY!' Was intent upon some sort of malicious deed...
At least not purposefully, anywho.
"I'm pretty sure, I've never been 'ere before- but I think I saw a sign or somethin' pointin' towards i' that said the name, and i' seems like it'd sorta fit, so.." She shrugged, laughing, peeking habitually over her shoulder before returning her attention to August, curiosity replacing scrutiny and the question slipping through her lips before she could deem whether or not it was heeded as of yet, "Who're you anyways?" She paused, waiting for a reply for a moment before seeming to remember something and adding as an afterthought, "I'm Glady-Gladys! I mean."

"My name is Augustus. You may call me August,"

With that being said, August felt a weight being lifted. Sure, the girl was acting a bit...erm...strange, but they seemed to get off on the right steps. Gladys was an interesting character; he had yet to meet someone like her.

"Um...Gladys, right?" He said, pausing for a moment. "Don't you need a uniform, too?"

Gladys actually glanced down before responding, as if hoping to have magically found a uniform in place... And was, as usual, disappointed.
"Yep."
She replied grudgingly, eyes soaring back up to rest on August, frown staining her features.
"I guess I do." She shrugged as if this minor detail was of no more importance than the weather, although she had been thinking about it herself just a few seconds before he arrived. "Where do you have to go to get one? Moline..?"
Cities, bleh.
She DESPISED cities, well... Small cities, anyway.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 22, 2009 9:58 am

"I guess. I haven't been there, so of course, no idea what's actually there,"

It was by sheer luck that August had read a map of the roads of the place, much less how to get there. And since he had someone accompanying him, it should be alright...right?

"Do you want to go together? I mean, to Moline," He asked.

Gladys paused, deliberating.
The answer should have been clear, but it was undecided, murky, annoying to attempt to sift through.
She didn't know him, but she didn't want to go alone.
She didn't have a uniform, but she was just a little... Lacking, in the money department.
She hated cities, but it was the only place to go.
And there was that little 'nothing else to do' factor as well, of course.
"Wh-may-" She grimaced, shaking her head like a dog ridding itself of cumberosme water before finishing. "Yeah, sure, all righty."
