"No! Not at all! In fact, it represents me perfectly," he said, not specifying which one. Both, he supposed.
He held her closer for a moment, tighter, and pulled away. Somehow suddenly very warm, Sirius mimicked Marketa and shrugged off his black overcloak, keeping his white button-up and jeans.
"Happy Christmas, love."

"Ridiculously happy Christmas, Sirius," said Marketa sheepishly as she blushed at the endearment, fingering her gift and knowing it would not be leaving its place round her neck for a very long time. She then made her way to the door, gently brushing a hand protectively against Yvonne's cot as she went, and leaned against the door for a moment. She sucked in one of her cheeks with thought as she listened.
"I t'ink de telly program is ending...yes, dey're leaving," she confirmed, nodding to herself. "We can go out, if you like? I just have to keep de door open in case Yvonne wakes up."

"Sure," Sirius said, making to go after her. He smiled. "Whatever you like."

"Okay," said Marketa brightly as she went into the main room of the flat, just as the door was opening to admit a broad man with scruffy graying hair and stubble. He was damp with cold rain and smelled strongly of fish, but Marketa still shot toward him like a bullet with a cry of "Da, you're home!"
"Haló, dítě," her father said gruffly with a kiss to the top of her head. He looked up and saw Sirius and turned back to Marketa. "Kdo je to tato? Jeden druh?"
She smiled and nodded. "Yeah Da, dis is Sirius, he is friend from school. Sirius, dis is my Da!" she added to Sirius, though it seemed a little unneeded.

Sirius smiled wanely, knowing full well the sometimes opinions of the boy - friends fathers can develop. He held out his hand, hoping Marketa's dad would shake it.

After a moment and a nudge from Marketa, her father rolled his eyes and shook Sirius's hand. "Haló, Sirius," he grumbled. "Obratný tedy?" he added to Marketa before leaving the room to wash off the smell of fish. She grinned and nodded.
"Dík tebe, Da," she called after him before turning back to Sirius gleefully. "He spoke to you! It wasn't in English, but it's still a good sign!"

Marketa laughed as she gestured for Sirius to sit beside her on the sofa. "Da still hasn't spoken a word to Glen--Yvonne's fadder," she confided with an impish smile, "Which means he likes you much more. Dat's good, because de last time we saw Glen, Da went after him wit a lead pipe." She took a moment to snort into her hand. "I like you better too. You do not lie to me." She smiled warmly and patted Sirius's hand.

Sirius was more than a little relieved when he found out that Marketa's father liked him more than a kid he beat with a lead pipe. He sighed, hoping that perhaps he could make it out of the father's reach just in time.
Besides, he wasn't sure if he liked this Glen fellow - in fact, he knew he didn't. And not only for the obvious reasons, either.
Sirius grinned, though. And sat down next to her, wanting to loll his tongue at the patting. He was so much like a dog sometimes, he didn't want to risk people finding out about his illegal little alter-ego.
All he said was, "Mmmhmmm."

Mar smiled and was about to respond when her mother called from the kitchen. "Marketa! Ale jděte pomoci s hlavní jídlo dne!"
"Coming Mama," she said with an apologetic smile to Sirius. "I must help wit dinner." She got up and went to the kitchen and started cutting celery at the counter. Her mother turned and looked at Sirius.
"You, boy! Make self useful. Come," she said with a heavy accent, gesturing with the knife in her hand.
"Mama!" Mar protested. She looked back at Sirius and shook her head. He was a guest, after all.

Sirius grinned and stood up, looking curiously at Marketa's mother. "No, that's fine. Of course I'll help. I'm not much of a cook, but I'm decent at preparing."

"You really don't have to," Marketa mouthed to Sirius as her mother simultaneously said "You set table. Mar, get dishes out." Severely fighting the urge to be a moody teenager and pout as she did so, she reached up into the cupboard and took out four mismatched plates and four mismatched sets of silverware. She smiled at Sirius apologetically as she handed them over.

Sirius reassured her with a matching smile as he put the dishes Marketa was handing him on their scarred dining room table - glad that he did not have to respect the proper table-setting ettiquette that he had grown up with as a wealthy pure-blood. Knowing what fork goes where was annoying when he was a young - and oftentimes dirty and disgruntled - little boy.

Sees Sasha at her door step. Cracks up laughing. "Come in before you pass out." Opens the door wide to let Sasha in.
"Oh, Sasha. Would you like breakfast?" Amara's mother said, with her thick Japanese accent. Amara saw Sasha nod yes, and she took two plates with eggs, sausage, and toast and put it on the dining room table. Grabs two forks and sits down next to Sasha. Smiles and starts eating her breakfast.

"Dostat košem dítě, Mařit," Marketa's mother said as she put dishes of fish and vegetables on the table. "Ono is čas do oběd."
"Yes Mum," Mar said with a nod, going back to the bedroom to retrieve Yvonne from her cot and gently waking the baby. Yvonne pouted and whimpered, but otherwise made no fuss as Marketa brought her out and grabbed a bottle from the fridge. "Time for dinner, Yvonne!" she said cheerily, also directing the information to Sirius at the same time. "We say Grace," she added to Sirius quietly.
"Probůh, tato jídlo, dát us blaho zdraví," she said once everyone was seated, Yvonne sitting on her lap, "and, also, give Health and Happiness to our new friend Sirius and his loved ones, Amen," she added with a smile and small blush.
