Ciel's dreadfully long walk had brought her up the side of a mountain and starting well on her way back down. Since she had reached the point where the slope was gentle enough to walk down, She stopped climbing down footholds and started walking down the hillside to what looked like a temple ahead. Ciel's first instinct would have been to avoid it, but since she hadn't eaten in some time and there wasn't any fruit trees around the mountain area she didn't have much of a choice.
At the bottom of the hill, Ciel caught her second wind, beginning to jog toward the temple.

Ciel managed to stay hidden for her first day. She spent most of the day hiding in a peach tree and watching visitors and temple workers go by. She took some time to clean herself up in the empty pond at night, then migrated to the roof of the center sanctum of the temple. There she slept for that night and was awakened by the light of the rising sun over the mountains. On that roof she remained for most of the morning.
What do I do now? was all she could ask herself. She was so far away from the wilderness she loved and heartbroken for the ravaged lands she had recently left. The warmth of the sun was soothing, and the temple was quiet save for someone sweeping outside. I wish everywhere was as peaceful as this.

As the afternoon hours began to roll around, Ciel began to become restless. It was a pleasant place to be, sitting around at this temple, but Ciel couldn't just stay here forever. She let her wings emerge from her back once again and began to fly off the roof of the temple. As she began to rise into the air she left a trail of sparkling dust in her wake as she headed toward capital city.
