He had skittered away from the fanged beast just in time, one ear swiveling to hear Carmine running to his rescue...er -- running to join him in this epic...battle?
Screw it, he decided from the look on her face and as she called out to him, he spun on his haunches and galloped after her, the wind from the speed blowing mane from his eyes as he caught up with the lithe mare.
Carmine had stopped and was...laughing? He slowed to a trot and watched her with wide eyes, panting. "That thing was vicious, dude!"
His heart was racing and it felt as if every muscle in his body was tingling. "Why are you laughing? he asked with a chuckle of his own because, honestly, he couldn't find what was so funny... They'd nearly gotten eaten.

"Yeah...I know!" She managed to cough out through her laughter. Her heart was beating quickly trying to process everything that had happened. It wasn't having much luck between Carmine's running, laughing, and the small shot of adrenaline. Her heart wanted to beat it's owner to death.
"Cause it's funny!" She exclaimed as she finally caught her breath. Did he not see it? They, him specifically, had gone birdy bowling and had instead found a very grumpy badger. It was such an odd turn of events and something one could expect daily with Carmine.
Feeling that her logic might need a little explaining she swallowed her laughter. "Ya can't tell me ya expected an angry beasty t'come at you from that. Oh man...what a rush!"
She wasn't able to hold her laughter back for long and she started trembling with it within a couple minutes time.

His heart was pounding in a way it never had before, his neck low as he tried to catch his breath -- and his thoughts, which were going psycho.
Tav looked at the mare with wide eyes, trying to figure out what was so 'funny' about it. Had she seen that odd beaver-thing's teeth? It could've given him rabies!
And then Carmine explained herself.
"N-No... I didn't expect it!" he admitted, thinking about it for a brief second before her grin grew contagious. "You're right! I was expecting birds to like, scatter, yanno? And then that...beaver...and..."
He fell into his own fit of laughter, not minding the slight sheen of sweat upon Carmine's back as his muzzle rested against her flank.
"Is this normally your luck?"

Now he was getting it. She continued to smile as he rested on her not minding at all. In fact she found it quite cute.
"Pretty much..." She answered taking a half step away from him, a playful smirk on her face, just to see what he would do. "Though I can't say I get too many rabid critters jumpin at me...boys aside of course." The last bit was mostly a lie. She didn't really get too many guys chasing her down, just a few. After all up until recently she was almost always under her father's watchful eye and he didn't like boys. Which was a bit ironic because Carmine didn't really want anything to do with the mares he sometimes brought around.

Tavarii laughed, watching her leave his side, beads dangling in his view as his head tilted to one side.
Little tease...but it was what he liked about her.
But boys? His eyebrow raised. "Hey hey, wait a second. Weren't you the one to tell me earlier, word for word, that when I was with you, you were the best?"
He padded after her, nipping at a wing. "If we're to be fair with each other, I don't wanna hear about the other boyfriends that follow your tail!"

She cocked her head to the side and giggled. "Awww...but how am I s'posed t'get a haram if I don't get t'have lotsa boys?" She asked faking a pout batting her lashes a bit. It wasn't as though she were purposely trying to be mean or unfair to him she just saw nothing wrong with having a few boy friends. She didn't really expect him to stay only with her for his entire life, just for the day.
"And yep...I'm the best. Glad ya remember." She said winking. She took a few steps closer to him and took one of his beaded braids in her mouth with a small smile.
He seemed like he was joking but she couldn't be sure and she didn't want him mad it her. That of course meant she had to turn up the charm.

Ah yes, the harem. He remembered that from their brief meeting before.
He tossed his head, amethyst eyes glittering curiously. "Well then, I call being number one in that harem, Miss Carmine!"
She was a hard filly to put a hoof on. She wanted control, but then perhaps she didn't?
She might not've expected him to stick around but for some fun, but Tavari was already planning another day with her. Or perhaps another week, or month. Wherever fate lead them.
He was, truly, p***y whipped.
"Why wouldn't I remember?" he teased back, looking her in the eye. "You're perfect."

At his words a mischievous glint flickered across her eyes. She wondered just how long she would be able to keep him wondering about that. It seemed a while given that he had more to say for her to work with.
A glowing smile fell on her face and she nearly blushed. She hadn't been expecting that. She expected so many things but never to hear those words. She had never been called perfect before. Wonderful, beautiful, sexy and talented yes, but never perfect.
Her guessing game was not going to last long at all as she laughed and turned away from him slightly. It was better to answer one thing then to start turning colors involuntarily. "And..what makes ya think ya can call such an elusive position?" She asked giving him a playful smile. "You're gonna have to work for that." She winked and slowly walked off shifting her weight from side to side very deliberately to give her a bit of a sway in her step.

He inwardly jumped for joy at the look on her face -- he'd been the first to call her out on it. Perfection wasn't hard for a beauty lover to spy in nature, but it was hard in living things. The prettiest horse may have the nastiest temper and therefore, make her ugly.
Carmine was just perfect. A beautiful winged tease with no worries about flirting. Sure she had downfalls -- stealing was one of them, but Tavarii didn't really care as long as he wasn't the one being stolen from!
He looked up at the sky and thought about her question. What made him better than every other stallion out there?
"Give me some time to think about that one, angel," he murmured softly, watching her move away with a keen eye. He pranced after her, neck arched. "I'll work."

She smirked a bit at the nickname. An angel that stole and had a taste for boys. Heaven must have thrown a fit and kicked her right out on her a** like her dad. The image she got in her mind was enough to make her giggle again.
"How hard?" She asked pushing the funny image from her mind to stop her laughter. The message just wouldn't go through the same way if she was laughing. While it was really only a game at the moment she wanted to at least give it the illusion of reality. She turned her head to look at the stallion prancing towards her like a true show off. Were she not trying to keep a straight face she would be smiling and laughing merrily.
He was cute and seemed quite eager to please her, she liked both of those things. He made her feel very loved which was always a nice feeling.

What Tavarii would've given to see God look at Carmine and say, 'Ya know what? You're not quite fit to be here. Why not go pester Satan instead?' and toss her out of heaven with a flick of his wrist.
How hard would he work?
He puffed his chest out and pulled to a stop right in front of her, blocking her from moving straight ahead without going around him. His lips closed around the little ring around her neck and he tugged slightly.
"How hard do you want me to work?" he retorted. "I'll fight the other suitors," he said stubbornly. "Even if they've got blades for horns and spikes growing from their tails."
He didn't expect eternity with her; hell, they'd both probably get tired of one another before they were in their prime. But she was the kind of mare -- and a one of a kind mare, indeed -- that he would willingly spend years with until that day came that they parted ways, as friends but no longer lovers.
"And what if I said that you weren't just perfect, but you were perfect for me? What if I said that for you, I'd learn to fly without wings?"
Corny? Perhaps...but that was the little drama king in a nutshell.

She pulled a fake pout when he stepped in front of her. He was ruining her little game, though not really at all. She took a half step forward as he tugged on her trinket and looked him dead in the eye. Her brown eyes were sparkling cheerfully as she shook her head softly.
"Don't fight with my other boys." She said with a bit of laughter hoping that he got the idea that she was satisfied with his answer.
She listened to him with an unreadable expression on his face and without a word she leaned forward and toke hold of one of his many braids. Without warning she stepped forward so that her chest was pressed against his foreleg before realising the bit of his mane.
"I would say...you're a goof but..." She drew out the word 'but as long as she could with a bit of a sing-song tone to it. "You're sweet." She smiled with her eyes closed tilting her head slightly to the side giving her an innocent look that she really shouldn't have been able to pull off.

He grinned and laughed, though he didn't back down. "Then I won't fight," he said, stamping a hoof. "But what do you want me to do?"
He couldn't help but feel jealous at the comment of 'my other boys'... There was something about Carmine that the boys were drawn to. It was just...her! She'd drawn him in, left him breathless and hanging. Not all mares had that exquisite aura.
And then she moved close, closer than any other time. His heart pounded. "A goof?" he chuckled under his breath.
"Yanno what? You're sweet too," he murmured as his muzzle brushed against hers. "And this is the best rush ever..."
He didn't want to move away, but he couldn't help it. His head tilted to one side, ears pricked up. "So...do I get my spot in your harem, beautiful Carmine?"

She didn't answer him. She didn't actually know what she wanted him to do. She had more or less just been saying the first thing that had popped in her head. All she really wanted was to know that he would do something if he really needed to but she wasn't sure how to say such a thing so she pretended like she hadn't heard.
She smiled at the contact and laughed lightly. "Course it is..." She said softly. "You're with me...goof..." She raised her muzzle slightly and nipped his ear gently as he moved his head away from her. She took a few steps backwards away from him then cocked her head to the side pretending like she was thinking very hard on the subject.
After a few minutes she simply grinned. "Well if ya want the spot it's yours goof." She said deciding that 'goof' would be a perfectly good nickname for him. "But...you're gonna have to prove that your better then any other boys to keep that number one position."

Goof...
With anyone else, it might've upset him. With Carmine, it was a term of endearment and he felt his heart slowly drip through his ribs, a molten melty mess.
Ears pricked, his chest was puffed out proudly. He wanted to express himself...and alot of the time, what he said came blurting out. Not this time...thankfully.
"I'll take that spot gladly," he said with a laugh, then grinned down at her triumphantly. "And I'll prove it, angel. Don't you worry."
Goof and angel. It was just...perfect.
