I wanted to play sax or do percussion, Because they only picked a couple of people for it. But I wasn't one of those people. So I went with the slidey one.

BassBoy1313 My band needed a Bass Clarinetist... I was the worst clarinetist in the band... The BD moved me over, now I'm one of the best... LoL that's the story of how I found my perfect instrument... that happened to my cousin. she wasn't the best clarinet(though she could have been) so i suggested to switch. she followed my advice and lives happily ever after.

I thought about french horn... but in the end decided on the cheaper flute. Reed instroments scared me because of the reed.. I didnt want a hunk of wood in my mouth. And the trumpet was too loud.. and my parents put the foot down at percussion. So i chose flute.

I chose my instruments because I like the sound and because they are low instruments. Because LOW INSTRUMENTS ROCK!!

I chose flute because... I dunno... I just did. xd
At first I wanted to play French Horn because it sounded challenging, but for SOME UNIDENTIFIABLE REASON I ended up choosing flute in the last few days we had to choose.
...I'm still not sure why, but it must have been meant to be because I'm an amazing flute player now and I love it. xD

I have always loved the sound of the flute, but when I joined band I was extremely new to music (I only knew how to play guitar and without being in band class I needed something less tricky) and also there was a lot of flute players at this time, so my conductor put me on the alto saxophone. that year, I learned how to play alto/tenor saxophone and the following year I learned keyboard and am now learning flute. 3nodding

I don't remember how I came to choose way back in fifth grade what I wanted to play, but I do remember I wanted to play the French Horn. However, when my mom and I went instrument shopping, all the places we went to didn't have any in stock or something. I don't know. So, I was stuck playing my second choice, Trumpet, which I continue to play.

Well I started off on clarinet, then switched to percussion and stayed there for a year. Then in seventh grade my band director, who was the first person to keep me in band, asked if anyone wanted to try french horn. So I volunteered with two others. Well I fell in love with the french horn. So I went on playing through seventh and eighth grade and then joined marching band where i played the mellophone untill i found out i had to have knee surgury and couldn't march, back to percussion. I hated being in pitt because i love the mellophone(still playing french horn in concert) so I quit band the following year. Big mistake. My junior year was problem free and I loved marching with the mellophone again it was my baby. Now here I am a senior and I had to switch to pitt yet again because i cant march due to a back injury. I miss my mellophone so much and every time the other mellophone player goes by the pitt I am reminded of how badly I want to play.(because she doesn't know any of her music evil ) Wow long story sorry.

Honestly... I chose the trumpet because it looked easy! I mean, ONLY three valves... It's kinda small! But little did I know that several, about 5, notes could be played on each fingering! AND there's the whole changing pitch with your lips! LIP SLURS!! evil The saxophone looked cool, but it also looked VERY overwhelming!! So I picked the trumpet and I LOVE IT!! heart biggrin heart xd
Also, at the time, I thought that flute would be gay (but I was young and stupid, now I think it would be bangin' to play flute), my sister played clarinet (I didn't want to be the same as her), tuba looked heavy, I don't know why I didn't do French horn (that woulda been cool), trombone looked confusing (with the whole NO valves thing), I wanted to do percussion (but I thought that too typical NO OFFENSE), and like I said, sax looked overwhelming! (plus my cousin was gonna play that!) biggrin
