Jess breathed a sigh of relief, yes she was used to the sun but it still did sting a bit if she was outside in the afternoon for too long. So, she was glad that Logan was being kind enough to let her borrow clothes. She listened to Logan's conversation with Rosen quietly and then caught eyes with her. This was the first time she had actually seen her eyes in the whole time she was here.. She definately knew her...had she changed her? If she had it had to have been years ago..she hadn't actually fed off of actual blood in a few years.

"Logan can I speak to you alone for a minute?" she asked him, pleading with her eyes. "It's kind of important.." He looked at her and saw the seriousness in her voice and in her eyes and then he nodded. They went into one of the rooms upstairs, so that none of those downstairs could hear their conversation, even so Jess spoke quietly. "..Logan. I think I changed Rosen two years ago...the last time that I actually fed off of a human."

Alice stirred in her bed; the sheets were twisted beneath her exposing patches of her bare scratchy mattress. She turned over on to her side and checked her alarm clock, 6:30. Alice groaned and sat up in bed. She had only gotten a few hours of sleep. Nightmares of her parent's deaths had plagued her dreams since she was little, and last night wasn't much different, except now the image of Luke lying dead before her stuck behind closed eyes.
She tried to stand but the sheets where wrapped so tightly around her legs she fell flat on the cold hard wood floor.
"Ouch.."She muttered as she wriggled free of her bindings.
"Thats what I get for tossing and turning I guess."
Alice made her way to the small kitchen in her apartment, that also doubled as a laundry room. The sun had just barely begun to peak over the horizon, casting shades of oranges and pinks across the dark blue sky. Alice's small kitchen window looked out over a small patch of trees that belonged to the over grown and abandoned garden next door. It was small, but she was glad for some escape from the concrete hell in which she lived.
She made her coffee as she usually did, and sat down amongst the boxes in her living room. She had been there for a few months but still couldn't bring herself to unpack. This place didn't feel like home. She missed the cozy loft she had shared with Luke, and even more, she missed Luke. Alice could feel her tear ducts kick in, as her eyes began to water. All her life she had felt like a curse, everyone she loved seemed to get hurt, and Luke dying seemed to only prove that further. Alice was pulled from her thoughts by a small meow by her feet. She looked down to see Logan staring up at her with hungry eyes.
"Okay, I'll feed you...." She said as she headed back towards the kitchen, the small black cat meowing excitedly at her heals. Alice found Logan a few months before Luke died. It had been raining all that day and the streets where beginning to flood when there was a scratching sound coming from the door. When Luke opened the door a small wet kitten came prancing in like he owned the place. Alice almost immediately began begging to keep the small creature, and after an hour or so of pouty faces and pleading Luke caved and agreed to keep it.
It was also Luke who named the kitten Logan.
After the kitten was full and happily lying on Alice's lap, she finally picked up her new book and began to read. She would have to remind herself later to return to the old book store and get the second book in the series. She had been going to that same bookstore since she was little; The Black Lilly Book Store. The owner even held books aside that he thought she would enjoy.

Rosen watched the two leave the room, her eyes following them up the stairs until they had disappeared completely.
“So uhh….hey,” Jasper said as he put his elbows on the table and leaned toward her. “This is a fun bunch, aint it?”
Rosen looked over at him for hardly a second before turning and walking the short distance to the sink. She flicked on the water and started running the pots and pans under it.
Jasper coughed and ruffled his hair. “Yeah totally,” he said sarcastically as he got out of his chair and slipped back onto the couch in front of the TV. He picked up the remote and tapped the button to change the channel, but when nothing happened after many determined pushed he tossed it back onto the floor at his feet.

Logan was quiet for a long time. His hands rubbed together and his eyes looked distant. “Ok,” he said finally. He looked up at Jess, his expression serious. “I won’t let Rosen out of my sight. She seems nice, but none of us really know her. Maybe we can talk to her later, but for now…” Logan rubbed his temple. “Just don’t say anything unless she does….and I doubt she will. Maybe you are wrong. Maybe you know her from somewhere else.” He sighed, and then his eyes looked distant again. It was a moment before he spoke again. “I hope you are right Jess. I hope she is at the bookstore. We won’t have to worry about any of this stuff ever again…”

Alec drummed his pointed fingernails against the wooden table. “No one gives me a headache quite like you, Rider,” he said quietly as he stood from his desk. “Just the sound of your voice…” Alec strode over to the window across from his desk, rubbing his temples along the way. He didn’t so much as look at the other occupant of the room. His hand reached out to part the heavy red curtain that had been drawn after he finished his meal. A sliver of golden light shot through, illuminating the dark room for a second as Alec gazed out at the city below.
“I don’t know how they have managed to escape me for so long. I own them, I own this whole city.” His voice was low but course, brittle with hate. Finally Alec turned a blazing eye on the Lycan. “Go to this nest of yours and kill any scum that you find.” Something flashed across his face. His fists clenched, the pale knuckles turning whiter. “But if you find him, if you find Gray…keep him alive. I want him for myself.”
Alec reached up and gently closed the blinds. His body had relaxed again, his face expressionless. The anger had disappeared as quickly as it came. Alec moved fluidly across the floor, settling down on the large red sofa that he had only just killed a young girl on. The seat was still warm. He raised a hand to dismiss Sky. “Take whoever and whatever you need with you, but make sure you actually accomplish something with those nice knives of yours this time…you seem to lose more then you bring back these days.” Alec smiled darkly, his fangs glinting in the candlelight. There was a glass of dark wine on the table at his elbow. He leisurely reached out a hand and plucked it away, bringing it to his lips and closing his eyes, savoring it. He seemed to take no further notice of the boy in the room.

Outside of the room where Alec and Sky were someone lounged against the wall gnawing on what appeared to be a piece of beef jerky for their breakfast. Dark brown hair stuck up from their head as if they had just gotten up, which was most likely the case, and the too large shirt and baggy drawstring pants were rumpled as if those clothes were what they had been sleeping in. They appeared young, their chin sharp but the cheeks rounded and cute. Chocolate eyes started boredly out of the fair skinned face while the person continued to gnaw relentlessly and tear at their breakfast.

The person would have been described as boyish, if it wasn't for the fact that they were female. Neasa Connor, werewolf, thief, and tomboy extrordinaire was waiting outside the door for no real reason at all. Mostly it was because she saw Sky walk in, and if Sky was talking to Alec then maybe if she was nearby when he came out then she would get to go on whatever mission or whatever he was being sent on.

"..Thanks, Logan. I'm glad I know that I can trust you." She saw the uneasyness in his appearance. "Why don't we go downstairs and see if they want to go now. If I'm right..it might be better if we're there before her. Y'know?" she said watching him closely. Logan nodded and they both walked down the stairs. "Hey guys...we should get going pretty soon..get ready, alright?" She sat down on the couch with her head in her hands.

"Please let me be right...please...don't let this be the time that I'm wrong.."

Jasper hopped up from the couch. “We are leaving already? Ok, give me a sec!” He got up from the couch and pushed past everyone, disappearing up the stairs for a few seconds. When he came back down not much had changed, except now a black jacket was sipped up to the top above his shirt and there was a bundle in his arms. Jasper walked up behind Jess and leaned over her, dropping part of the bundle in her lap. “No need to say it, I know you love me.” He reached over and prodded the bundle to reveal that it too was a black jacket. “Yeah, sorry about that, but today I guess we have to match.”
Jasper moved away from Jess and over to Rosen. He held out the rest of what he was holding to her: a red jacket with a BMX logo splayed across the front. “Take it, no worries. I’m assuming you need one too. New to the whole daylight thing as well.” He shrugged. “Keep it, its way too small for these muscular manly-man shoulders of mine.”

Rosen took the jacket, turning it over in her hands before throwing it over her head and shoulders. Despite what Jasper had said about it being small it still hung loose around her midsection and fell past her hips. She patted it down a few times in an attempt to remove any wrinkles but quickly gave up. “Thank you, this will help,” she said to Jasper with a smile, making him beam.

Jasper lifted up the edge of his clothes. There nestled against his skin was a serrated blade in a thin black sheath. He patted it friendly before covering it again. “Always bring protection.” He winked and Logan rolled his eyes.

“Shut up and make yourself useful. Toss me a weapon too.”
Jasper murmured something sarcastic and pulled open the cabinet beneath the sink. He rummaged around in it for a few seconds before emerging with two black daggers raised triumphantly above his head. “For you, my liege,” Jasper said as he handed off the knives. “What other friend brings you twins?”
Logan punched Jasper in the arm but took the blades, slipping one onto each hip beneath his white button-up shirt. He looked up and his eyes found Jess. “Are you ready?”

Jess stood up, trying to get rid of her nervousness, and pulled the black jacket on. She laughed and said, "Yes, Jasper, I do lvoe you. You seem a bit too eager about this. Remember, you can't get cocky..and if we see her..you can't just jump onto her. If anything either Logan or I should talk to her."She stopped talking and walked over to cabinet next in the kitchen above the sink. She opened it and pulled out her gun, nobody knew about that one..Chris had given it to her when he found out that she was pregnant. She put it into the back of her pants and walked back over to everyone. "Now I'm ready." She smiled, and nodded. She looked down at the ground, knowing she should say something to Jasper.

Without thinking she hugged him and whispered, "You have such spirit..never let anyone take that away from you." She didn't know why but she felt a need to say that to him, just in case anything happened that day. Jasper looked at her confused when she pulled away.

((Forgive my short post, I don't know what else to post right now...))

While it seemed like at least 90% of the Rogues were awake and already getting ready for the day ahead of them, Ronin was still asleep. He had been up all night as he always was, avoiding the sun not because he was a vampire and he would burst into flame, though he was a vampire and did burn easily in the sun due to pale skin, but because his eyes were far too light a color and far too sensitive for him to walk around in the day time.

Jasper was stiff at first, receiving the hug with his arms planted firmly at his sides. When Jess pulled away he tried to regain his thought process. Finally something within his dead mind clicked and he smirked to hide his surprise. His shoulders relaxed and he walked over to the door, throwing it open with more force then he meant.
“Alight Jess, don’t act like we’re never comin’ back. You’re gonna get me all angsty.” He made a wide gesture with his hand that made him look like a waiter ushering customers to their table.
“Lead the way, darlin’, you’re head of this exploration.”

Jess couldn't help but smile and she walked out in front of Jasper, the others following. She winced at the harshness of it at first, there it was, taunting her again. There was a strange familiarity of Jasper..but she didn't quite know what it was.. She stopped and looked at him then she remembered. He reminded her of Chris, strangely but he did. "Is that why I felt compelled to say what I did?" She didn't know. "No, we wouldn't want you getting all angsty, Jasper. We need you in this...don't we Logan? We need you boys to get along today."

She started to walk again, closer to them now, but she felt someone staring at her hard. She looked over her shoulder, it was Rosen.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 19, 2008 10:53 pm

Logan muttered something noncommittal and Jasper groaned. “Get along? Must we?” He sighed dramatically and put an arm around Logan’s shoulders. “Well, what do you say, friends?”

Logan rolled his eyes and plucked Jasper’s arm off. “Yeah, we can be buddies without touching…”

Rosen walked silently behind the group. Her feet didn’t even make a sound as they struck the cobwebbed pavement. But you didn’t have to hear or see her to know that she was there. The intensity of her gaze was enough to get Jessica to turn and look at her for a quick moment. Rosen clenched her fists. She had to bide her time. Here was not the place for a confrontation. She could be patient. She had been for two years. Rose’s body relaxed again. The time would come.

Logan kept walking but turned to look at the rest of the group. “We need to split up,” he said quietly. “All of us traveling together would look suspicious.” He eyed the rest of them, his mind working quickly. “I know you are excited, but there is a very good chance that we will find nothing…just like every other time.” It was clear in his voice and his eyes that he didn’t want to say that, but had to.
“Even so, there is always the chance that this time…this time there might be something. We have to stay sharp.”
“It’s probably nothing,” Jasper muttered. He couldn’t bring himself to hope for anything else.
Logan ignored his words. He knew just how Jasper felt; there was no use in trying to persuade him otherwise. “Jess, you come with me. Pretend we are a couple shopping together. Jasper, you stay ahead of us. When we reach the bookstore duck into some place close and look busy, but keep your eyes trained on the area around us. Rosen, the same goes for you, but follow behind and stay away from Jasper. If anything happens don’t go straight back to the warehouse.”
Logan turned and looked at Jess. The others had already disappeared. Logan reached out his arm and put it through Jess’s as they began to walk. He pulled her close to mutter in her ear. “Walk slowly; pretend you are looking for things to buy.” When he pulled away again he was smiling as if he had said some joke to his girlfriend. Far away, Jasper was cursing beneath his breath.

Jess smiled at the reaction of the two after she had asked them to get along, they were acting like brothers. "Well, thank you for trying..." she said but trailed off, Rosen was still staring at her, but the intensity wasn't as high. "She knows it was me that changed her, doesn't she?" she thought to herself. Not even two seconds later, Logan turned around and began to give instruction on what was going to happen. "We need to split up," this she agreed with, a group of people might look suspicious, even in a creepy little place like The Black Lilly Book Store. "Jess, you come with me. Pretend we're a couple shopping together." She looked down at the ground, but looked back up and slowly said, "Alright.."

Before she knew it, the others were already gone and Logan's arm was entangled with hers, and they were walking down the street together. He whispered in her ear that she had to walk slowly and to pretend that she was looking for things to buy. When he pulled away, she looked at him and saw a genuine smile across his face, so she smiled too. The bookstore wasn't too far away from here, but there were many small shops before it with sidewalk sales in front of them. She stopped to look at one of the misc. sales and saw something that looked very familiar to her. It was a ruby necklace, her ruby necklace that was stolen from her many years ago. The price tag said $60, that was too much to spend on jewelry..expecially for something that she had already owned once. She shook her head and said, "Forget it, Logan." She knew that he would be wondering what she was thinking. "Let's keep going."

Kira sat on the roof of a tall, beaten up building. She sighed quietly thinking of her older brother, Blade, once again that day. She kept thinking of when he left their home. Kira had been six years old, and Blade was about 17.

Flashback:
"Blade! Where are you going?" Kira asked. Her hair was really short and just barely touched her shoulders. "Did you and Dad have another fight?"

"No, Kira, we didn't." Blade answered her. "I just have to leave."
"When will you be back?" Kira asked. Blade had left home many times before, but was always back in a week or two.
"Never." Blade answered. "I'll never be back."
"Huh?! Why?!" Kira asked, tears threatening to slip down her cheeks
"Kira, i want you to no longer have a killer for a brother." Blade answered "If i leave, then people will stop picking on you. Good-bye Kira" Blade was gone from Kira's sight in seconds.
"BLADE!" she yelled, the tears flowing freely "BLAAAAAADE!"
End of Flashback

"Blade" Kira mumbled to herself. She wanted to know what had happened to Blade so badly, but she knew that Blade would be impossible to find. Kira's hand went to her bracelet, and moved it back a few inches. Underneath the black cloth, was a long, deep scar from when she had tried to kill herself when she was six. She had figured out that Blade's leaving had caused her to try and end her life. Her attempt, had of course, failed. Kira slid the bracelet back into place, let out another sigh, and left the building top, heading into the shops that some of the Cursed group, including Logan, had headed into.

************************************

Blade sat on the ground, staring off into the direction in which his family lived. He wondered what Kira was up to at this moment. Kira must hate him for leaving her alone in their world, but Blade wasn't one for staying in one place for very long. The only exception to this side of him, was the Rogues. He was able to be himself among them, instead of making a fake identity for himself in the world of the worthless humans, lycans, and vampires. Blade slid his finger over the blade of his sword. it cut him, and warm blood trickled down his hand. The blood hit the ground with a soft splat sound, as Blade ran his other finger over the sword and punctured it on the tip. His hands and fingers looked like Frankenstien, because of all the cuts and scars on his hands. He usually sat on this step and when he was thinking hard on something, would p***k his finger or he would slice it, depending on his mood.
