She gave each child a chance to tell her about the fire station and school. Fixing the headband that had nearly come out of Lici's hair as she ran, she laughed. "If we let Mercury and Caprice do that there wouldn't be any room for Daddy and I. And he'd be very upset about that especially since I did bring home his favorite." Pressing a kiss to her daughter's raven head as she nodded to the rest of it. "Do they? I think Daddy has a funny name for that, too. Homophones or something." Wrinkling her nose at the impromptu English lesson.
Cleaning the washing machine? "Why is he cleaning the-" Cut off as the dogs bounded over and she rubbed their silky pelts and patted their heads. "Hey you two. Go lay down." She made sure the dogs were settled then handed Lici napkins and Toby forks. "Help me out now and set these on the table like I showed you." The kids busy, she slipped her hands into the pockets of her labcoat and leaned against the washroom doorway. Now it was beginning to make sense. "As much as I like seeing you bare chested and half wet I don't think it's for my benefit." Yes, she was amused. "I heard you had help this afternoon. Is this the result?"

Strength, strength, strength...just had to keep the good things in mind. A surprised blink though as his wife's voice penetrated his though train to himself and he looked at her, not very amused himself. "Not this time." Clearly she was amused where he wasn't...then again she wasn't the one stuicking her hands into nasty things. Looking to the washer again he closed the lid and set it on a rinse and spin cycle...that should help some. He knew it was fact, had done it twice now. Maybe this time would be the last. "Yes, this would be the result. Apparently when mom says 'wash the vegetables', they think this. For you own good, just don't look. And pray the washer will be okay." Now came the hard part where she would ask further and he'd have to tell her the truth. Damn it.

Her mouth drew into a frown and she watched him for a moment. There must be more to this than she'd originally thought. She thought it was rather adorable that they'd tried to help and misunderstood so cutely. Of course it probably would have been a different story if she'd been the one they were trying to help and then she'd had to clean up the mess. "Bless their little hearts. If it's not, we'll buy a new one." Walking over and wrapping her arms around him despite the icky water all over him. "Come eat dinner and let this go. I brought your favorite."

"Yeah but I'd rather not buy a new one...it's too much of a hassle and people have to be in my house and so on and so forth." Waving a hand dismissively about it before giving as sigh as seh came over to to given him a hug in greeting, even if he was half wet with soapy veggie water. A raise of an eyebrow to her though, "Luigi's?" THe only Italian food he would eat besides his own and also his favorite when it wasn't him doing the cooking. Grabbing a clean shirt that was folded on the dryer, he pulled it on over his head and then pulled her back to him, lacing an arm around her waist and pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Fair enough...I may win against this thing with some food in me."

He deserved to complain after dealing with everything he had; they were both tired and dirty and stressed though from different things. She'd changed before she came home so she didn't scare the kids with bloody, gooey, afterbirth-y scrubs. "Unless your favorite suddenly changed. The kids are probably starving."
Dinner and baths passed in a flash and she was tucking her kids into bed a short time later. She'd been more or less filled in on the rest of the 'help' Xe had been given over dinner. It took a lot of willpower not to get upset about the towels and she was figuring the only thing that saved her from being very upset was the fact that the paint was washable. Kissing both kids goodnight, she dragged her weary body into their room where Xe was lounging on the bed. Obviously Toby had been easier to get down than Lici. Flopping down beside him, she let out a deep sigh and curled against him. Giving a sleepy smile. "Hi."

He was only lounging until she came in and he was already dressed to leave too. A grin and he pulled her close, giving her a smile and a kiss. "Hi...you look beat." He had already gotten his goodbyes from the children when they went to take baths seeing as he needed a shower himself because of that washer. But for the moments that he had left before he had to go, he was just content to hold her. "The kids were helping because I fell asleep." Figured he'd own up to it. Brushing her hair from her face he gave her a smile though once more. "But you look more tired than I ever could. Get you some sleep and don't worry about getting up for me tonight. You're no fun when you're tired and grumpy." More or less tucking her into bed in more adult style, he gave her a final kiss. "I love you Sammers, see you tomorrow." Thusly getting up and grabbing his keys with a sigh as he headed out to the garage to get to work. What a day...

She gave him a soft smile and nodded. "I know. The kids ratted you out without meaning to. Toby's worried you're going to be mad at him for it. I assured him the opposite was true." Kissing him goodbye and watching him leave...life sucked so much sometimes. She wished she could chase him down and tell him just to forget about his students tonight...but she knew she couldn't. "I love you too, Casanova. Grab some coffee so you don't fall asleep on the road."
She'd been intending to be up when he got home but an impromptu nightmare on Lici's part made it a definite. She'd just gotten the little girl calmed and back to bed when she heard him come in downstairs. Quietly descending the stairs, she greeted him in the hall that led into the interior of the house. Kissing him in greeting, she pressed a finger to his lips to silence any protest. "Lici had a nightmare. You didn't wake me. Go get comfortable and I'll heat up dinner for you."

Now he was even more tired but at the same time he was wired...probably all the coffee and his natural vampire nature that made him more perky at night. That was going to mean he was going to be up all night and tiptoeing around the house. He was surprised when he was met though before he even fully got into the house, by his wife no less and she was ready to fend off what he had been ready to say upon sight of her. But all he could do was grin at her as she went off to heat up food for him. He was used to eating alone at the wee hours of the morning.
But heading up to their room, he got himself undressed and slipped into a pair of loose fitting sleeping pants, making his way back down to his wife and lacing his arms around her from behind, pressing a kiss to her shoulder. "You can go back to bed if you need to."

Bliss came in the strangest moments sometimes... Leaning back into him, she nuzzled his cheek and stayed there until the microwave beeped at them impatiently. "I don't think I could sleep now if I tried. Besides, I want to talk to you." Pulling out his plate and setting it on the table and pouring them both cups of coffee that were half black, half blood. "I finished cleaning out the washer and the towels all came clean and are back where they belong. I kept Toby's spaceship and Lici's purple flower though. Couldn't help myself." She admitted that with a wry smile and took a sip of her own mug. "How was school?"

If that statement had been in the upset or annoyed voice, he'd be worried by it was neither and thus he surmised that all she wanted to do was spend some time with him. They didn't get too much together these days. Moving to sit at the table, it was leftovers for him but he was quite happy with leftovers. Thusly digging into his food, a pause every now and then for conversation and a sip at his drink. "I'm sure they'll be thrilled...they were quite upset when I told them that's not how you change the guest towels. Good to know that we don't have to buy a new washing machine...less worry." Grinning lightly at her. "Well enough, the moaning and groaning over the news of a test next week but that's all. Apparently I look like hell though because I got told so. Which lead to a tangent into the area of dual perception in the mind. I was supposed to be starting into abnormal conditions."

"Toby wanted me to see what he called his rocketship and I didn't have the heart to let the paint wash out of it. And if I saved one of his it was only fair to save one of hers, too. She did a beautiful job on the flower though. I was thinking about putting them away and bringing them out once they get older." She would have liked to have such keepsakes when she was a child so it made sense that her children might appreciate them. "Didn't you just give one? No, that was your General class, wasn't it? Well, these kiddos should be thrilled." Giving a grin, "I saw the paper requirements on your computer. Fifteen sources will definitely bring on the groans." Reaching over and lightly swiping a droplet of sauce off the corner of his mouth then licking her finger absently. "You need sleep. I'm off tomorrow since I had to stay later today. Why don't you cancel class and we'll give the kids a special treat for helping out?"

"Fair's fair." Finishing off his food rather quickly he leaned back in his chair some with coffee mug in hand, sipping lightly at it as he listened to everything he more or less missed. Though as his mother would say, that's what pictures were for so take a lot of them. "Right...besides, there are many avenues on that and I inevitably end up telling some story from my days on the force and then well you know, lesson gets pushed." Shaking his head lightly, despite all of that his students always finished everything they needed. "Yes but it's the smart ones who pay attention that will see the beauty in it and not the bane. Subliminal message lesson in there. If they read all the instructions as said instructions say...they will realize that even though it says fifteen sources...not all information from each souce must be different. Plenty of texts agree with each other. I just love messing with their heads. Its for their own good." Grinning as she made a point to keep him clean and healthy as it were. "Probably do, but I'm up now." Tilting his head at her and placing his mug back on the table. "What did you have in mind?" He could only think the days they would sleep the sun away and were up all night like they should be, were special treats. But that was grown up language he suppsoed.

"It always seems to but you can always tie your stories in with your lessons and they should be reading outside of class anyway." She chuckled at his underhanded yet completely aboveboard tactics and shook her head. She remembered them well from her own days in school." Getting up, she laced her arms around his neck and pecked his cheek. "A few minutes snuggling with me and you'll be sleeping like a baby. Or I know something that will tire you out...." It didn't take much to settle on the arm of his chair and engage in something that had nothing to do with the kids. But turning her attention back to the question he'd asked, mostly just to mess with him, she shrugged. "We could take them to the park and let them play, the movies, the mall where they can ride the carousel. They really aren't that hard to wow, Casanova."

"Yeah I try to do that at least. But they still get what they need so if there are stories to tell to break the cycle of boredom, I'm all for it." Grinning as she came over to lavish attention on him and give suggestions as well. “And are we planning this as a daytime activity?” Because he knew how that would go…he was still laggy in the day time and the kids would no doubt fuss over “daddy being no fun” by noon.

"I'm not." Nibbling at his ear and sighing. "They just went back down. You know Toby doesn't sleep when Lici is scared. And the way they've been lately, the extra sleep will do them good. I thought it'd be a good idea to let them sleep in tomorrow and see how long they stay down. We probably wont' see them up and about until around noon and that will give us time to sleep as well." Giving him a grin. It was pretty amusing how sex wasn't what they planned for anymore. Now, anytime they could grab went to sleep.
