I'm a freshman and I don't have a problem with it, but it makes me really sad to play it because it reminds me that the seniors are leaving sad
Last year at graduation apparently they played it for an hour and 10 minutes straight. So this year my band director is also going to have us play this other piece called 'Canon' and it's pretty cool.

I am dreading graduation. Playing trumpet, I do get the melody for some parts, but last year I was on second, and all I played was quarter notes. I was ready to cry by the end.

Played it last night for the last time.
Bad thing though?
LARGEST. GRADUATING CLASS. EVER. 832 graduates this year. Our class is significantly smaller (600-ish) because of the new high school that opened freshman year.
15.5 times we played it. fjdka;fdklasjkfl;dsajkladslk

I actually like Pomp and Circumstance. Well, my part that is. (Flute). We only had to play the entire song two times before all the grads came in :3

I HATE Pomp and Circumstance =n= I have a part only really consisting of quarter notes, alternating in pitch now and again.. It makes the muscles in my torso hurt after a while.. I hate it and I wish to stop playing it.. FOREVER. Stupid graduation... I like Fanfare and Recessional a lot more, but I still hate 'em both.

rage rageI don't mind playing the piece (on timpani and keyboard percussion) as much as sitting through the ceremony. Every single speech every single year is the same condescending crap and no one cares and jnioguprheohugerapogburohnga (scarred from being forced into writing a graduation speech for communications class). One year, however, our BD convinced the principal to play a recording instead. Unfortunately, that was the year my sister and boyfriend graduated. What. Luck. > neutral If anyone has a clever way to keep me from going to my own ceremony this year, then I would love you to the death of this wretched song. heart

WELL. I actually dislike Pomp and Circumstance simply because for our grad band, we play the same parts over and over. I'm sure other bands do that...but I hate this! Aggh. The first year I played one of the last clarinet parts, so it was boring. Last year I was recruited to play alto sax, which was kind of difficult, but fun in the end. It's been weird, and I hate how my embouchre feels afterward, which is just expected. But hey, everyone graduating likes it!
