She raised a brow at him, as she finished her apple. "If i had wings, this discussion wouldn't have happened" She laughed a little. She did admire those with wings. Snitch has wings too, but his were on his head. She took a bite from the apple and she chewed it, thinking. "So you have two females in your herd?"

"Mmhmm." His mouth was full; he'd talk when he swallowed. Which he did. "Two, but they're not mates. Not mine, anyway." That would be disastrous.

Although...

He shook himself, shaking off the glaze that had come over him. "Two mares," he agreed again. "Dia and Yazmina."

She nodded at him a little. "What are they like?" To live with him they would have to have the virtue of patience she was sure. "You mentioned one was a ground horse and the other halicorn."

( no idea I named those right XD )

"Quiet and bossy," he said without hesitating. "Yazmina's quiet and Dia's bossy. Sometimes I forget Yazmina's there," he admitted, "and I know that's bad, so I go back and look, and there she is. But you can't miss Dia." He rolled his eyes a bit.

Then another thought occurred and he tipped his head. "Don't you have a herd?"

Forte laughed a little; what a sight his herd must be, covering almost all the spectrum's there. She tried to imagine what a day with them would be like. Her ear twitched to his question and she looked up at him having swallowed her bite from the apple. "No, it's just me and my human." She stomped the ground a little; and then took another bite from her apple. "But I know she wants to get another, she's having trouble finding one I guess."

Diego couldn't imagine being alone. Wait, that was a lie. He could and he didn't think much of it, even if it meant he'd never get bossed around again. Well. Not by Dia.

Maybe.

"It's springtime," he announced, as if anyone had missed it. "And there are foals all over the place. Maybe she'll find one of them who needs a home." He lowered his voice a little. "Some of the Soquili have too many to take care of, you know?" He didn't quite understand that, but he'd seen the size of some of the herds and heard it mentioned here and there.

She tilted her head at his springtime announcement. She had expected the following 'love is in the air' comment but he did make a good point. She nodded at him some. "Thats very true. I wonder if Luna is looking for something specific." Which was always possible, but Luna was nice and would give a home to anyone that would would need it. "Really? I thought that was the point of hte herds, its not just ones foal, it's everyones foal.. collective attitude?"

His wings rustled, shifting in a sort of shrug. "Take care of all the little ones," he agreed. "That's the rule. But you have to be able to feed everyone, too."

"Well the humans usually do a good job having fields of grass. If a mare and stallion can't take care of foals then they shouldn't be having them in the first place." She raised a brow at him. She knew how to find her own food if Luna wasn't around to feed her.

"Don't know that they're always thinking about it before it...happens," Diego hedged. And. And! "And I don't know that not thinking about it means it's bad."

"I'm not saying it is bad either." She leaned back a little and then she lowered herself to the ground to lay in the shade. "It's a maternal instinct. I think it's very rare that a mother will bare children and abandon them. " She nodded some. "Between the mother and the humans, I don't see how there's not enough to take care of the young. But baring them and not wanting them... is a different story."

"I don't know," Diego admitted, and he had no shame in doing so. He didn't know what being a mare was like. "Never known a mare who didn't want her foals." He chewed his way through another apple, pondering that thought.

Then shook it off and smiled again. "Nothing there's an easy answer to anyway. If you ever have foals, maybe you'll understand. You can tell me then."

She looked at him and tilted her head. It was a female thing; not something she could explain to him. She shook her head a little and looked around at the other horses. She back to her feet and she stretched a little. "Well Deigo, it's getting to be about time for me to head back home. It was nice meeting you. I'm sure we'll meet up again some day soon." She smiled at him.

"It was nice to meet you too," he said and ducked his head a little, letting his wings shift apart in a sort of farewell. "I hope you find some more little ones for your herd. And that we meet again. Good bye, Forte." He liked the little mare.

He watched her go, then ate a few apple tree leaves and turned to sprint across the pasture before launching himself into the air. Time for him to go home too.
