((Sand 'n Stuff -> Beach Bar Buffet))

It was already getting busy as Niksia stood on the beach, trying to decide what to do first. She watched a gaggle of people collect in a rush, hearing faint drifts of conversation as they greeted each other. A reflective smile touched her face, it wasn't easy to fit in still but seeing lots of people with a common interest was enough at times.

Her eyebrows raised at seeing a very tall Raevan in the group, one of the bigger ones she was still perplexed by. While he looked interesting enough to want to know more about, she decided to wait until it was quieter. And assuming her tongue would stay parted from the roof of her mouth. Plenty of time to understand more about the driving force of the Lab, the creatures that would no doubt be gathering with their guardians soon.

Heat bearing down on her back though, caused Niksia to head to the shade offered by the bar. It didn't look completely set up yet, so she leaned against the bar at a quiet section and lowered her head.

'Ahh...' A little pleased sigh at the cooler air, refreshing her slightly pinkened skin.

((Beach Parking Lot --> Beach Bar Buffet))

Only one word filtered through RoChan’s mind as she pulled her rental car into the parking lot that over looked the beach. ‘Hot. Though it is to be expected considering the time of day and location, but still, does it have to be so hot?’ She mulled over in her mind reaching for a half empty bottle of water that lay in the cup holder beside her. Parking her rental next to another car she quickly chugged down the water, thirsty for more.

Chucking the empty plastic towards the backseat, it met with another a loud ‘thunk’ causing the blue haired dragon to look over. In the backseat of the Sedan there was a pile of empty water bottles from her time here at Gambino Island to current. It had only been three days and it seemed as if she had gone through three crates of water bottles. “Oh brother… I better get rid of those before people think I am hording them or something.” Which she wasn’t… really…

With a quick snort and sigh, RoChan quickly scrambled out of the rental and smoothed down her terry cotton red shorts before grabbing her beach bag and yellow inner tube (that had been wedged between the seats). Hastily she shut and locked the doors to the massive car and searched within her bag for another bottle of water as she purposely walked away from the car.

After a few seconds of blindly searching and finding herself empty handed she gazed at the beach front and made a beeline for the Bar. RoChan approached with caution now only because she was half looking through her beach bag and half watching where she was walking.

“Um, excuse me.” She asked as she approached the bar. “Is there someone manning the bar?” She took a good look around and paused slightly longer on the two floating bodies. "Er…” Did the flyer say something about half bodies being a requirement? Hadn’t she seen one of these before hand?

(( Beach Bar Buffet ))

"I'm Mouse. Nice to meet you, Anita," the girl said cheerfully. Taking a look around, she noticed that there were finally more people arriving at the beach, including a few faces that were quite familiar. It was only a moment or so before the Huichol who had helped put this party together was well within both eye and earshot.

Waving a hand out over the bar, she called, "Hey, We'rika! It's about time you finally dragged your a** out here!"

Even though her ears were hidden behind piles of pancake-colored hair, that didn't stop the eagle girl from hearing a couple new voices approach the bar. Her mood lifted almost instantly when she detected how cheerful they were, not to mention the assortment of excited feelings that were beginning to dot the area. Her guardian was right, this was going to be almost as fun as the cafe was!

There was an excited flutter of her wings, and Ekundayo drifted blissfully towards a fellow Raevan clad in pink and wearing a skirt - really, the two becoming so close to each other must have looked like a graceful meeting of complete opposites. Her excitement at meeting someone new and clearly full of emotion was something she just couldn't keep to herself! She was just about leaking it onto everyone else nearby.

Mouse turned her head momentarily to RoChan after hearing her inquiry. "The official bartender hasn't shown up yet, which I guess makes me a temp. Can I get you anything?"

Pasha shrank back a bit, smiling at the young woman in the red terry cloth shorts, and anyone else that glanced her way. It was a tiny smile, though, and Melisande turned one shoulder in a shy, protective gesture between her and the bar.

It wasn't hard for her shyness to melt away as she noticed Ekundayo, though. It was almost like magic! As soon as she spotted the striking young Raevan, Pasha brightened....raising one hand for a little wave. The pink ribbons tied at her wrist fluttered as she wiggled her fingers in hello.

"I've never met you!" Melisande's voice was sweet and light, just a bit wistful as she smiled at Dayo. "You're very pretty."

More arrivals.

So word had apparently traveled far and fast, unless there had been announcements posted for ages. She had only seen any sort of one a week or so ago, but she was often slow on the uptake, so this was no surprise.

A lot of the arriving people appeared... well, odd to her. She had only looked up for a fleeting moment when she heard a glass break and a quick apology as her attention turned quickly to the blue haired girl instead and, soon after, to the approaching male. Mouse seemed familiar with him, but he didn't appear to be the bar-keep. Ekundayo's fluttering away caught Ani's attention the most, however, and her vision followed the young Raevan to another. There were more of them? Yes, she hadn't quite gotten the answer from Mouse as this 'We'rika' had interrupted with his arrival, but she thought she was catching on now.

These beings, these Raevans, were experiments of the Lab? And perhaps the volunteer work was to... to what... study them? Still too many questions to tell for sure.

At her side, Tango sat up, sniffing about the new male and female at the bar, licking at any exposed toes that were available to him before settling down in the sand again. Ani leaned down to hand him an ice cube and he took it, immediately holding it between his toe front paws and crunching down on it with his large jaws. She would take him up to the shore soon, as well as get an excuse to venture closer to the Raevans unless they moved.

So bizarre...

"Hey! Sev'lin took his swee' a** time fillin' up those water balloons so yell a' him mmkay?" We`rika held up his hands in defeat, squeezing through a few ladies to get closer to the bar. Chivalry wasn't something he took to heart when they stood between him and his booze. The shaman wiped his forehead of the clinging perspiration and sat down at the bar, leaning over the counter like an impatient child, his long ears twitching in agitation.

"Can I ge' some tequila porfavoooooor?" We`rika whined like a brat to Mouse. "Jes bring th'bottle down here...."

"It's a little early to be drinking, isn't it?" the green-haired girl replied, but it was in a clearly joking tone as she was already settling a bottle on the table for her friend. And even though he didn't ask for it, a glass was set down for him as well. "Just don't get too smashed, I need your help reminding people that there's games to sign up for and it's hard to do that when you can't talk straight."

Dayo took a moment to appraise Melisande before she responded, careful to form the right words in her head. The other Raevan's appearance reminded her a bit of some frilly cakes she had seen in a store window once. Her guardian had stated they were overpriced, but people were always happy when they were eating cake...

"You are prettier," the eagle girl decided.

Kale scraped up the glass tossing it into a trash bin near him. None of the glass really was hard to pick up as it cracked into more round pieces than sharp shapes which would cut anyone who touched them. Passing of the arrival of most of the people Kale kept glancing at the mysterious Reavens. They were all so magnificent and beautiful. Glancing once more he lowered his hands to his side looking around.

The announcement did travel fast, and to his demise several people were responding to it. Scooting around he glanced at the floor spotting a small dog gnawing on a ice cube which was melting quickly in the heat. Kneeling down he offered a hand. "H-here boy, here b-boy. . ." he beckoned holding out another ice cube. Concentrating he felt at least his body go solid so everyone could touch him. It was tiring at least.

(Beach Bar)

Melisande shook her head, but smiled as pink kissed her cheeks again. She offered one hand gently to Dayo in greeting, like Aki did when she met someone new. "I don't know your name." It took Pasha a moment to find a graceful solution. She was getting better at being bold...her time with Lucretia had helped! "I am Melisande!"

She dipped a bit in the aiir as she introduced herself, and waited to see if the frank young Raven would accept her hand.

Aki cast a sidelong glance at We'rika, looking him over from bottle to top. Dropping a little yellow umbrella into Pasha's drink, the final touch, she grabbed both glasses and made her way past. Certainly a variety!

RoChan looked down at the green haired girl about to respond when a loud and boisterous individual arrived. She waited patiently with a soft smile as he and the girl exchanged comments about drinking. When it was a good opportunity to interject, she pleaded her case.

“Water please.” Stooping to place her inner tube by the base of the bar, she snapped her head up quickly. “In a glass!” RoChan added frantically before coughing into her hand in embarrassment. “Water in a glass please.” She stated more normally.

‘If it’s in a bottle, I’ll be tempted to take it back to the car and stash it away.’ She would never admit this aloud though. Turning to the person seated next to her she smiled at the dog that was eating ice.

“Is he yours?” RoChan asked bending down to get a better look at the tan dog. It was then that she noticed the other person. "Hello." Another warm smile to the pale youth.

Listening in on the small conversation that Mouse and We'rika held, she didn't notice the ghost at the other end of the bar holding out another ice cube for her companion.

Tango looked up to Kale, swallowing the last bits of his ice cube. Standing and moving closer, it became very apparent that this dog was in fact not small, but was about the same height as the seat of the chairs. Wagging his tail a bit, Tango approached, sniffing about in confusion as Kale seemed to not have a scent at all. Even so, the wolfhound didn't feel threatened, and gently gummed at the ice cube for a moment before taking it with his very front teeth, laying down on his belly and gnawing again, as he had done before.

His movement had tugged Ani's chair the slightest bit, and that was what caught her attention. She leaned over a bit to peak over the side of the bar, furrowing her brow. Tango was a teddy bear, but he was usually at least a little more cautious with new people. It was probably the heat just making him more tired.

If Tango decided to linger she pondered moving over to the seat beside this man, just for her dog's sake. RoChan's voice didn't immediately register to her, and Ani did a quit double take before apologizing and laughing at herself. That happened often. "Hah. Yes, sorry. His name's Tango."

It probably wasn't the most polite way to react, but Mouse couldn't help but laugh a little as she produced a glass of water for the woman with blue hair. "Thanks for being specific, I would have poured it straight on the table instead. And you can always help yourself if you want a refill or something," she replied. And she had to admit, this whole 'bartender' thing was kind of fun even though she had more experience with engine oil than with drinks. She'd be sad to surrender this job to Dr. Kyou when he arrived.

Ah, handshakes. The wild-haired one had seen these before, but had never engaged in one! Her hand carefully connected with the one the Sigel had helf out, and went through the simple motion as she remembered it. "Ekundayo," she said. Usually people picked up what that meant without having to tack on a 'My name is...'

And then, with a hushed tone as if it had been one of the most exhilirating experienced in the world, she said, "That was my first handshake!"

Kale looked up at the two people who approached. Surprisingly he didn't tuck away from both of them but instead he patted Tango on the head and looked at RoChan than to Ani. "H-Hello, my n-names Kale." he said apologizing too for the lack of attention he had earlier. Pulling out another drink from his bag he opened it drinking it in tiny sips before looking at RoChan.

"So w-what brought you h-here?" he asked patting Tango once more before smiling to Ani. Anymore people than this and he might as well explode. He wondered if the dog had noticed anything about him, most animals did. Setting the cup on the counter he took a seat.

Confusion was an understatement. Tony had only on minimal occasions left her apartment to venture into the outside world the past few months. It showed on her pale skin that so desperately called out for the sun. But the sun she shielded her dull green eyes against with her palm, and the corners of her lips turned into a tiny frown. Her other hand moved to slowly wipe some of the bright red strands of hair from her face, the roots of which were already several inches showing, though hidden by the beanie she wore despite the warm weather. She just didn't like her hair getting all in her face, thanks.

She stood in front of her 1974 Chevrolet Nova for several minutes, scanning the view in front of her for any sign of the one person around here that she actually knew: Anita. Ani had informed her of this little gathering, requesting that she leave the solitude of her dark office for a few hours to join in on the fun. Tony was reluctant, but agreed in the end, and dug out her old, unused bathing suit and a beach towel.

But where was Ani?

Tony dug into the bag she carried holding her towel, phone, and other necessities, bringing out the cellular device and flipping it open. She pressed the speed-dial number programmed with Ani's number and held the phone to her ear as it started to ring. Brrriiing. Brrriiing. How annoying, not knowing where her friend was and where she was supposed to go to find her. She held her free arm over her midsection, trying to press away the uneasy feeling that always accompanied being in a place with lots of people she didn't know. It wasn't that she didn't like people, heavens no. She was a very social person when she actually took the time to be around them. She was just constantly nervous starting out around new people. But Ani would be there, and that was all that mattered. Because as long as she had one friend, making others would come a lot easier.

Pasha's wings opened in her excitement at Dayo's confession, and she gave the girl's hand a tiny squeeze. She didn't remember exactly when you were supposed to let go, so she just went with it for a while longer. "Ekundayo." Melisande said the word in such a positive fashion, it almost seemed like a word of agreement. She was simply smiling at the other Raevan, still idly shaking her hand, when Aki bumped her arm with a cold drink.

"OH! Oh, Aki, this is Ekundayo." Pasha seemed glad for another opportunity to say the name...she pronounced it as carefully as she could, with a round melodic tone to the end. She accepted the drink with both hands, as Aki nodded to the other Raevan, and looked from the drink to Dayo.

"Do you want this one?" Melisande held it out with both hands to the eagle raevan, eyes slightly wide with curiosity.
