Celyn only briefly wondered if she really wanted him to answer that, and then opted to anyway. "You were angry, so I wanted to make you happier." That was all there was to it. The only ulterior motive the young child could have possibly had was making a new friend, and that certainly wasn't anything negative.

In case that didn't answer her question perfectly, he added, "I thought a change of yelling to niceness would help." It seemed that he hadn't helped much at all. Then again, the pigtailed girl was no longer screaming. Had he done something? ...Though, he thought she was done screaming before and she wasn't.

“I don’t WANT to be happy!” Malice told him angrily. “I can’t be happy, and I refuse to try.”

She stamped her foot, and glared at the boy. People never liked her, people never tried to like her and she preferred things that way. Now this boy, this stupid, silly boy, was trying to do something she’d never encountered before; he was trying to be her friend. But she wanted to keep to herself, with no intrusions from people trying to make her life better.

She enjoyed her life the way it was, enjoyed her loneliness.

No, the mean girl wasn't really done screaming. She wasn't done glaring either, and it seemed that she wasn't done stomping. Had Celyn done anything? Why would she still refuse to be happy? It wasn't that she couldn't be happy, Celyn was sure. The little girl just admitted to not trying to be happy. Why was happiness such a bad thing?

Perhaps it was best to not try any more. "Okay." Celyn wasn't going to tell her how silly her last statement sounded. "Then I won't try to make you happy, since you won't try to be happy." It was a disappointment for the churro boy, but he tried not to make that obvious. If he looked like he didn't care, she didn't win in her anger parade, so that was exactly what he did.

Malice smiled, she was still angry, but she felt she’d finally won the battle. She turned her wicked smiled to Celyn.

“It’s been distinctly unpleasant talking with you, crème puff.” The told him, voice dripping with sarcasm. “I really hope that we never have to repeat this encounter again.” Then with a flounce of her skirt, she turned a walked away; intent to collect her mother and go home. She’d grown very tired of the playground.

Celyn couldn't help his small chuckle as she threw big words at him and skipped away in a matter that seemed to be perfect for it. "It wasn't very fun talking to you, either!" shouted Celyn in return as she walked away. Admittedly, though, he wouldn't mind seeing her again. She was so terribly unpleasant that he had to know how she would get through life.

The churro boy wasn't going to let the bitter girl ruin his day at the park, though. With a grin from ear to ear, he began to swing again. And after all of that, she had never succeeded in silencing his squeals of delight.
