"I learned the hard way too that not everyone fights an honorable fight, only I ended up in the hospital." Nao walked a few paces away and picked up his bag before heading over to both their weapons. "I'll make you one, if you like... Obsidian cuts flesh better than any surgeon's scalpel."

Fishing out his pack of cigarettes from his pocket, he motioned inside to the other Fa'e once he had inhaled an unhealthy drag from the cigarette. "We should do this more often," Nao said pleasantly, "Know anyone else that likes to fight? We could make it a little after school activity."

At Nao's offer to make a knife, the deerkitten blinked in surprise. "Uh... sure, yeah!" He answered, honestly surprised by the generous offer. The situation starting to seem almost surreal to Dusty. Most fights he engaged in ended with grudges and complaints, or at least a momentary parting of ways- not happy little chats and gifts. The adrenaline was dying off now, and the pain in his arm was numbing to an ache; without any apparent needs to address after the fight, Dusty could only feel awkwardly grateful as he went to retrieve his sword. It'd sure be easier to get it from Nao than try and get his Guardian to buy him a weapon, that was for sure....

Dusty took the next comment at face value as he mulled over the possibility. "That could be pretty awesome, actually. I know a couple'a people," Dusty answered thoughtfully, "and there's probably plenty who I don't know. Like, uh- what'serface would probably be in on somethin' like that. Lethe's friend. And I know Morty'd probably be up for it, and Mik... maybe Kee, too, she seemed pretty cool." Wiping at the blood still on his face, Dusty made a new look of revulsion and started inwards- cripes, he had to clean this stuff up before it really got clotted into his fur, or he'd never get it out....

When they got into the building, Nao dumped his things on the nearest chair and ducked into the kitchen. There was some rustling and banging of cabinets before Nao returned with a bag of Twizzlers and two Red Bulls. He offered one of the cans to Dusty.

Dropping his body into one of the chairs around the table, Nao finally replied to Dusty's earlier response. "These names bring only distant memories of Fa'e to me. I know Morty though, at least I used to. A lot can happen in a year of absence." Oddly enough, Nao hadn't bothered to wash up and sat slouched in the chair, cigarette spotted with blood in one hand and can of Red Bull in the other.

"Is your guardian okay with you fighting?" Naolin questioned suddenly, grinning over at the deerkitten. This was a kid after all.

The deerkitten made a beeline for the nearest bathroom sink, turning the water onto its highest pressure before he got started washing. Anywhere there was a spot of red, he started scrubbing with sloppy gusto to erase the evidence. It didn't show too well in his black fur, at least, and his shirt was dark enough that the greater number of spots were made invisible fast enough- but the red spots in his hair, that didn't want to get out.

Dusty quickly made a wet mess of the sink, cleaning up as well as he could before shutting off the tap. Wiping the excess water off of his face, he seemed happy enough to air-dry. He wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere today, after all, and he felt too lazy to actually go and find a towel somewhere. He returned to the common room right around the time that Nao got out of the kitchen,

"Yeah? I haven't been 'round too much lately, myself. Schooling and stuff," Dusty put in, accepting the can before plopping down onto a couch, flopping his legs over the furniture's arm as he pulled the tab on the drink. Snorting at Nao's question, the deerkitten shook his head. "Arri doesn't like it, no. 'S more worried 'bout my dad finding out than anything though, I think. What 'bout yours?"

He occupied his mouth with a cigarette at the deekitten's question, frowning somewhat before answering, "I haven't seen my guardian in over a year. Been doing this and that." Hoping that the explanation would hold for at least a little bit, Nao snuffed the butt out on the table and dug into the bag of Twizzlers, stuffing two in his mouth and chewing.

"We'll need to find somewhere other than here to hold this, and have them sign papers so we don't get sued or something. Maybe have a few rules, and something to throw people out of their comfort zone. This way we can get away with calling it 'extreme combat training' or some bullshit like that." Chewing thoughtfully on his candy silenced the older Fa'e, and he simply peered over at Dusty to see what he thought.

That made sense to Dusty, who nodded his agreement as he thought the matter over. They had to cover their asses to make sure nobody found out that could get them into trouble, was the gist of Nao's input. "Oughta be exclusive, keep it to people we know," Dusty concurred with the general sentiments. "No spectators draggin' things down or causing trouble, right? And... geez, what else...."

Taking a drink from the can, Dusty hardly even noticed the taste of the stuff as he stretched his back, eying again the bloodless gap on his right arm. "Probably better make a couple rules 'bout not letting people get out of control," he decided, "and probably oughta buy some first aid stuff or something. Or get it from somewhere. Or make someone else pay for it. Entry fee, or somethin'?" The prospect brought a happy glint to his eyes. "Could charge a couple bucks for people to get in, y'know, and say that it covers medical expenses if somebody gets stupid...." If, his smirk read, no doubt already thinking of better uses for such income.

Nao nodded his agreement to the exclusivity aspect, chewing on his lip and gleaning a bit of the blood still residing there off with his tongue. Absently, he wondered just how much blood was on him and what the state of his throbbing nose was at the moment. "No eye gouging," Nao stated immediately, "Have it be a knock out or tap out fight."

"How 'bout a members' fee, to cover medical expenses and whatever else we might need to provide the members. We could make it monthly? Provide food or something afterwards." The look in the younger Fa'e's eyes wasn't missed by Nao, and he shook his head with a chuckle. "We can both take a cut of what's left, but I'm handling the money."

The implications of distrust brought an instant complaint out of the deerkitten- "Hey, I'm good with money!" It wasn't even that Dusty desired greatly to be in charge of the finances (though he certainly wouldn't mind it...), so much as the need to protest his innocence and competence. He was a fair businessman!... most of the time. He intended to be, at least.

Fortunately, he was also practical enough not to cling to a single point too long. "Would we do it at the same place and time and stuff every month, or what?" Dusty questioned. "Probably would be hard to get word out every time where it's at and all that, without the word gettin' spread around too much... or do we want it to get spread around more?" Now that there was money involved, Dusty didn't seem so interested in keeping it so exclusive....

"I didn't say that you were bad at it, but I can guarantee that I'm better. No offense." He didn't linger on the topic either because as far as he was concerned, this was a non arguable point.

"Every month or every week, depending on how many Fa'e and how much demand there is for it. The thing is, we don't want the guardians to find out really." Nao stroked is nonexistant beard while he tried to pan out the logistics in his mind. He'd have to think everything out. "Hey, you have a cell or pager kid?"
PostPosted: Fri May 23, 2008 12:06 pm

Dusty wouldn't argue the point- just so long as he was sure he wasn't getting patronized or put-down, he was happy enough to let it slide.

The second-generation emphasized in eager agreement- "Guardians or parents,". He didn't really want Yanisin to find out about Dusty's hobbies any more than Arrien did. It was one thing to talk his way out of trouble with his Guardian, but another thing altogether to try and figure how to handle a disappointed father. And probably, other natural-born Fa'e like himself would have very similar requirements before they'd consider getting involved. It was a point of necessary caution, at least.

"And yeah, I got a cell- you want the number?"

A cell phone was produced and its condition mirrored Nao's current one. Nao clearly played rough, or people just liked to use him for a punching bag. Either way, the cell still worked, despite its wear and tear. Tossing it to the other Fa'e, he pushed himself to a standing position. "I'm going to wash up a bit, just put your number in and call your phone for mine." With that, he disappeared upstairs for a brief shower.

Just in case, the phone book, schedule, and other personal information had been put under a password.

Five minutes later the hummingbird stepped through the fireplace carrying his wet shirt, which had been previously soaked in blood. Draping the damp article out an open window, the Fa'e returned to his seat and stretched. His chest and back were covered with a variety of scars, most were barely visible, as Albert had a great talent for minimizing scars, but they were still there. "Any idea for a name for this little organization?" He asked once he was comfortably stretched across two chairs, hand outstretched for his phone.

When Nao came out again, Dusty had already taken care of the number swap, and been by the kitchen besides to fix himself up a bowl of ice cream. No chocolate syrup or sprinkles or anything- the deerkitten couldn't find the appeal in those kinds of things, though his Guardian thought he was crazy for his unique tastes. Licking at the spoon contentedly, he tossed Nao back his cell phone and pondered over the question at hand.

"I dunno. Like... Fa'e-tality?"

In the middle of stuffing the phone back in his pocket did the suggest come, and Nao blinked a couple of times before openly staring at Dusty in disbelief. Suddenly, he burst out laughing. "That's got to be the worst pun I've heard in a long time. Why not?"

He continued to laugh as he lit a new cigarette. "We should write this all down somewhere."
PostPosted: Fri May 23, 2008 12:41 pm

Well, Dusty hadn't thought it was that bad!... but hey, Nao seemed to accept the suggestion, so the deerkitten just grinned and nodded. "There's gotta be paper around somewhere, I'm sure," he volunteered, setting his ice cream aside to search it out. It wasn't too hard to track down a piece of paper, and even easier to find a pencil among an art set he dug out of the toy box for younger Fa'e. Grabbing a book and returning to the couch, he set out the paper on the book and started jotting down notes in large, messy handwriting. "Okay, so, how much d'ya figure we should have people pay?"

"I won't know for certain till I talk to a few people, get some estimates on medical and otherwise. We'll have to hold off on that part." He sent a knowing look towards Dusty, but smiled at his eagerness.

"I had a few ideas when I was showering," Nao drawled, pausing to run over the list in his head for a moment. "Say we make a list of... Fight conditions, and by random choice each person picks one. This can be for the whole of the matches or on an individual basis. That can be decided later. For example, a no magic allowed condition, or maybe have one be a certain number of drinks minimum. Etcetera, etcetera. What do you think?"
