Elijah had to admit that there would be a particular spice with children coming up with a few activities. The things their imaginations could conjure, and heaven knew they had to have some general clue towards entertainment idea. Yet, he was somewhat puzzled by it as well. Inevitably, Elijah had shrugged off his curiosity, shaking his head to himself. "Dull is such a harsh word." He had commented lightly.

Then he had been somewhat taken aback. Ah, what would he do with Houdini and Leopold? Surely he could leave them alone for the night, he had done so for the duration of the date. At the same time, he was uncertain of leaving them alone for what would likely be a longer duration of time. The case in which they inhabited wasn't big enough for him to find it fair for them to be inside, and he wouldn't dream of bringing them along with him. There was Remington, though - and surely Remington would handle them for that night. He wasn't certain of leaving them with children.

"They'll be fine, I believe. I've a good friend where I live, and I'm confident he won't have a problem watching them for the night; he handles them more than enough." He had nodded knowingly, confident that it wouldn't be an issue.

Then, before he had known it, a number and address were scrawled onto a napkin. He had watched Mordread; his face had flushed the brightest red it ever had as he had nodded. "I'll take care not to; I wouldn't want to do something like that, even unintentionally." He would need to find a secure place to have it - in the open so he could find it.

Then he had thought a moment. Transportation. Oh, dear anything. He had no car, and neither did anyone he knew. How on earth? There was the... But some people were afraid of those, weren't they? "You're not afraid of motor-bikes, are you?" He had never had to carry company before. Not once within his memory, and gas conservation was a value. The bike had been a fine deal to save him money in the long run, but, oh, circumstances did change.

"Never been on one," Mordread admitted, "Though I wouldn't mind it. I do have a car, though." Even though it was a minivan that he'd gotten with the distinct reasoning of practicality with so many children. It wasn't a cool car by any means, but it worked and it got great mileage. Being a parent, one didn't generally get 'cool' things. The car had actually been the first thing he'd bought with the check from his first published novel.

Yeah. He'd totally wanted to spend it on a car. Sarcasm at it's finest, folks.

The half-cat's face split into a grin, "I'm really glad my kids threatened me into doing this entire dating service. Best time I've had in a while, and good company." Yeah, no doubt Rothe'd gloat and hold it over his head, but he could deal with a cocky Rothe. Lord knew it wasn't anything new.

"It's a well enough way to get around, and terribly cheap." Elijah had commented. He had to admit, he did enjoy the bike. I was the only thing he had driven for years, however, so he supposed there was a particular bias. "We'll sort that out when the time comes - car or bike, it doesn't matter so. I just know some people are petrified of motor-bikes! Can't say I blame them at times."

It seemed almost hilarious to envision children coaxing their father into doing something like a date program. Elijah had held in the urge to chuckle, his smile stretching ear to ear with the thought. "I'm glad you think so." He had eyed Mordread curiously, rising to his feet.

"It's getting rather late, I'd think - I'd better head home, it's a bit of a walk." He had seemed to regret the idea of leaving, but had perked up again with the acknowledgments and reassurances of the weekend. Indeed, there would be time for good company again. "I'll see you this weekend, then!" He had paused a minute, thinking to the number and address he had received.

"Ah! Just in case!" The number exchange. He hadn't thought of giving his own, and so he had found a pen (fortunately) in his pocket and taken a napkin to scribble his out as well. "If anything comes up and you're unable to go, just call and we can always work something out."

Mordread stood when Elijah did, feeling a small tinge of disappointment at having to go home just then. He'd definitely been enjoying himself. "This weekend," he agreed, "I wouldn't wear anything too fancy, as everything's being left up to chance." They could end up doing the hula in a bikini for all he knew. Especially if Dax was involved in the planning.

Then, Mordread being Mordread, took a step forward and gave Elijah a squeeze. Yeah, he was a bit of an affectionate kitty, which had actually been a complaint at some point. But he couldn't help who he was, and figured that if Elijah didn't like the contact he'd say so.

"Be safe walking home." Mordread always did think about the worst possible scenarios when people were walking home in the dark.

It was a disappointing thought, thinking of having to go home. Elijah had been having fun himself, but he was always mindful of time and security. On his end of town, he didn't suppose it was proper to be parading late into the evening. "I definitely agree with you there. Casual, or something comfortable may be for the better."

As he had spoken, Elijah had been caught off guard. He had nearly jolted from the start of touch, almost embarrassed in his jittered ways. He may have protested, but again the realms of confusion were there to fiddle with him, and he found he was not truly bothered. In turn, he gave a hug himself.

"You be safe yourself." He had replied when they had parted, a sincere look in his eye. "Take care." And with that he had given a wave, making his departure with an intrigued feeling to his heart. He almost felt breathless, as if he had forgotten to really breathe the whole while.
