A wicked grin spread across Siku’s face as Eyal gave in. The toothy smile suited a hyena rather than the little cub. It was a showing of triumphant! She had won over a great big lion. It was truly a feat that needed recognition! Since she couldn’t tell her parents she had led a stray lion close to the territory, she’d just have to enjoy the warmth that was accomplishment on her own.

The pearly white grin dissipated after a moment or so to be replaced with a subtle smile. Even though it was a gentle look, her pride still seeped out thanks to her bright eyes. She even got up the nerve to get close enough to Eyal to nuzzle her face against his. “Thanks Eyal for saving me and bringing me back home.” The youth purred as she continued showering him with shows of gratitude.

There seemed to be no way Eyal could escape it until Siku finally said, “Okay, I’ll go see mother and father now.” She then turned and began to walk towards the hidden entrance without a second thought. But before she got too far from him, the cub turned on her paws to look back at her injured hero. “I’ll try to be back later, rest up, okay? Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone!” The crisp noise of leaves rustling followed her warning and in the blink of an eye, Kisikusiku was gone. She was on her way home, where she’d be loved and coddled by her mother and father. Yet not even her parent’s adoration would keep her away from Eyal. She would return, and the next time she came bounding out of the cave, she’d be there to help him.
