Nahuel was about to answer when a girl that looked to be a jumble of different animal parts strode up and re-enacted the ear-shattering disaster he had just witnessed. The effect was, he had to admit, pretty funny, but he never got a chance to reply to the other cat boy
"I'm Nahuel," he interjected as soon as he caught a lull in the conversation. The overall sound of the name was not unlike a crocodile yawning. "I'm not from around here," he added, shrugging and motioning towards a pair of blue haired girls among the crowd over at the stage. "Those are my sisters," he added. "Orli, the little one, came out of a cabbage."
Orli leaned over and flipped through the book in search of a song she knew. "How about that one?" she asked, her finger resting on a title she recognized from a movie she'd watched. "Part of your world," she said, sounding it out. She looked from Polly to Ranza to Rory.
"We should all sing together!" she exclaimed, and then looked apologetically at Chris.
"Sorry, it's a girl song."

Rory looked a bit shocked at this offer. Sing? On stage? She looked up at the stage, then back at the others. Well, someone else was up there, and he didn't sing well, so, it should be fine, right?
"Well... okay, but only this once," she told Orli, blushing slightly already. It was funny. Here she was, hoping to avoid the whole thing, but after hearing the others... well... can't be that bad, right?
Then she was going to see about doing something else! There were other activities going on, and she wanted to check them out.

"Let's sing!" Polly said, practically bouncing onto the stage. She was grinning from ear to ear even though she had never sung in her life.
Chris took the book from Rory so she could join the other girls, not bothered by the fact that it was a girl song in the least. He looked at Tock as he let the next group pick their song. "You wanna sing?" he asked the gator man.
"Where I come from the only music we get is fairies singing," Tock said. "Usually you hear it when you're hanging upside down from a tree and waiting for Silva to make you do something stupid in order to survive."
"You come from a really strange place."
"You should come over sometime. You'd fit right in."

With her mother distracted by new arrivals and the other children occupied with organizing their next song, Delilah smiled to herself and took a chance. Ever so slowly, she backed up until she felt the edge of the stage under her heels. Then, with perfect quietness, she turned and stepped down onto the softer sand. She cast one more quick look around to check everyone's location and then, with a smirk, she sprinted off.
The flower girl could move bloody fast when she wanted. Just one of those well-kept secrets of the universe.

(( This is a bit of a backtrack, but don't worry, I'm kicking her out xD ))
When Melchy had picked the song, she hadn't recognized it. Which didn't really matter to her, though it was sure to matter to everyone-else's ears. She couldn't sing to begin with, strange for a sparrow based girl, and it was even worse when she didn't know the song before hand. So when the song began she sang the most off-tune words you could imagine, her voice often squeaking and cracking like a first grader on the violin. It wasn't pretty, especially since she had most of the parts.
She was rather disappointed when the song ended, having enjoyed her time on stage. Reluctantly she got down and passed it on to someone else who wanted a turn. If there hadn't been anyone she would have been up there all day.
She waited around a little, listsening to the others sing (and not noticing that they were better then her). But she was rapidly becoming bored. Sitting, or standing, still wasn't something she liked. Finally she simply darted off, going to find something else to do. Something a little more active.

At Melchy's insult, Keres's serpent tail snapped minutely behind her, and a marginal scowl passed over her face. Her change in emotions didn't last long, though, and a split-second later she wore a snarky, smirkish grin.
"Oh I KNOW I could do better than you," she retorted in a cocky fashion. "It's not like you really set the standards high, anyways." With that, she punched his shoulder in a... friendly manner, but with enough force to really make her bracelets jingle.
She then looked over his head and noticed Nahuel, but she had failed to hear anything that he had said except for the word "Cabbage." Shifting one of her golden wings, she looked over her shoulder at the gaggle of girls at the karaoke stage, and picked out said "little one."
"Cabbage, eh? She looks like one of the fairly normal results," Keres stated in an almost bored, matter-of-fact voice. "Can't say the same about Mel, though," she said as she looked from the stage and back to Melchy, "the Ugly that you were born with is unheard of."
She knew she was going to get an insulting comeback for that one...

“Melchizedek,” the boy answered Nahuel’s introduction with his own. “Most of’em call me Melchy,” he added after a moment, glancing over and looking the two blue-haired girls over. One of them looked like a parrot, the other looked relatively normal. He shrugged, tossed his head, and opened his mouth to reply only to be punched. Yowling in something that was half-playful, half-annoyed, he jerked his thumb over his shoulder. “This mix-up’s Keres.
His ears flattened at the insult from Keres, and his attention once again shifted from Nahuel to the sphinx-girl, tail lashing. “I’d suggest you try it, but I’m pretty sure that jus’cos ever’one’s too scared to tell ye y’suck dun mean ye’re good.”
Tossing his head and laughing a bit, he looked after Riley. “Oy, this’s no good, let’s git ourselves outta here, eh?” he suggested. “Easier ‘at way. Gotta be somethin’ else we c’n do.”

Rory waited until the others, who were in line before them, sang themselves: she felt even better now. That didn't mean she was going to go up there and blare her singing out.
Instead, now on stage, she tried to remain in the back of the girls. When they sang, she had decided to sign softly, in her voice, which was no winner either. Heck, Chris was here! She didn't want to embarrasses herself that much!

Nahuel glanced hastily at his sisters. Well, there were lots of other kids here. He figured they'd be okay. He flashed Melchy and Keres a thumbs up. "There's gotta be other stuff around here," he agreed. "Let's go, huh?"
Ranza was quickly getting bored. Why weren't they singing yet? Was it not their turn? What else could they do until then? She reached out and poked Polly in the shoulder. "What're pirates?" she asked.
Before Polly would have a chance to answer, though, the song ended and Orli pushed to the front of the line. "It's our turn!" she said to her friends, and pointed to the book. "We're singin' this one," she announced. "'S from The Little Mermaid."

Polly had no idea what the Little Mermaid was. She hadn't gotten to that point in her education before Gwen had taken her back and she wound up with Tock. Tock didn't have a television. In fact, there was a very good chance that Tock didn't know what a television WAS.
But she figured it wouldn't be too hard to sing, so she grabbed the mic and held it out so all three could grab onto it, and the screen started flashing the words.
She could read it... sort of! Enough that she was singing at the top of her voice, that was.

Spurred on by the other non-singers, and by the people around her, Rory loosened up finally and started to sing more. Not softly like she was planning. And she was enjoying herself, actually! This was fun, no wonder others wanted to do this!

"Riiiight," Keres drawled in a fairly thoughtful manner. Pursing her lips, she looked in one direction over the two cat-boys' heads, and then moved away and looked in the other.
Her large wings fluttered lightly and she extended an arm and pointed her finger down the beach behind the karaoke stage. "What about that...whatever they're doing," she half asked, half stated as she put her other hand on her "hip" (which she didn't actually have) and studied the volleyball net that stood in the distance. She hadn't the faintest clue what the net/set-up was, but it looked a bit more interesting.

Nahuel gave his sisters one last hasty look and headed off with Keres and Melchy. Volleyball, huh? Sounded like fun!
Orli's voice was fairly quiet, and when Ranza sang she sounded like a bird squawking. Together with their fairly tone-deaf companions, they managed fairly well to butcher the song.
"That was fun!" cheered Orli when it was over. "What next?" she asked Polly.

Hearing both Ranza’s quiet question and an announcement of Disney films, Melchy needed no further prompting. Volleyball was as good as anything.
“Done and done!” he called out, and was off in a spray of sand. Typical.
The boy couldn’t sit still for more than half a second.
