GrimGent To the Finnish ear Estonian has a strange familiarity to it, even when you can't quite decipher the actual meaning of the words. Actually, it's like that with English and Dutch ninja When English-speaking people hear Dutch they are surprised as to how similar it sounds and feel that they ought to understand what is being said, even though they wouldn't understand what is being said unless that person had studied Duthc wink

Proudly_Jewish does Finnish sound like any other language? ninja I'm not a native speaker, but I think it really sounds like japanese, so does my finnish/swedish boyfriend and some other people I know.

I'm Finnish. ^_^ I live in Sweden, though, and I prefer speaking Swedish. I only speak Finnish with my family. 3nodding
