Filly numbar 2.

Your mother is feeling under the weather, so you and your sister decide that you both want to do something to cheer her up. Where do you go, and what do you do to try and make her feel better/cheer her up?

---

Their mother stood, staring across the horizon as her lover, their father, had gone off to find something. What? They didn't know. Why? They were too young to understand. What they did know, if it counted for anything, was that the glow their mother normally had, the twinkle in her eyes that always followed every smile... had disappeared! Mom still smiled but something was missing, something that she always carried with her had... jumped up and ran away!

Looking toward her sister, Vanessa, who happened to be eating a blade of grass... well, until it poked her in the nose and she ended up sneezing, Anissa thought of how to search for the missing link. She'd need her sister's help of course, they'd been told eight hooves were better than four! Anissa didn't really understand why but if Daddy told them that then it was obviously true. So, leaping toward her sister with a happy gait, she snuck up behind the poor foal and nipped at her little stub tail. "Psst, Nessa..." Anissa whispered, moving in closer while peering suspiciously at her mother, "We need to go on a mission..." she paused, "Get ready for a briefing!"

Okay so Anissa liked to think she was the Colonel or Commander, it was all fun and games though... wasn't it? No, it wasn't! Anissa quickly straightened up, this was serious business!

"Attention!" she whispered as her sister looked at her as if she was being silly, her whispers got even quieter after she looked at her mother who was now grazing. "Mom lost her glow, we have to go find it before it gets so far away she'll never see it again!" the filly whispered, obviously having no idea what she was talking about, "I don't know what it is, it could be a bug or a stick, so we have to keep a sharp eye out!" Anissa stopped to think for a moment, this was going to be more difficult than she originally imagined... No matter, anything for Mom!

"Do you think... maybe Daddy took it with him...?" Vanessa questioned, interrupting Anissa's thoughts.

"Of course not! Dad would do no such thing!" Anissa said, a bit loudly and quickly changed to whispers once again, "It's lost... I know it..!"

After a roll of her sister's eyes, the two set off on an adventure they'd never forget! They checked under rocks, looked inside fallen logs, picked up branches, they even looked in a bird's nest! Sadly, the most they found was a dried up patch of grass, a beetle that bit and a piece of bark that had been ripped off of a tree. The two had now given up, they'd searched high and low, without leaving their mother's watchful eye of course, and had come up with nothing. So, they ambled over to a nearby tree and stood staring at each other as if to say, 'What next?' It was then that they found it, the most beautiful, vibrant and stunning purple flower they'd ever seen! It was their mother's "glow", they just knew it!

"I wanna give it to her! Please, Anissa?" Nessa asked quietly as she pranced over to grab the flower.

"Well, okay..." Anissa agreed, even though she'd wanted to do it herself.

The two ran up to their bewildered mother screaming and yelling about finding her missing "glow". She had no idea what they were really talking about so she just smiled in her motherly way. Then she saw it, the flower, her children had gone and found her a flower. At times being a mother was tough but when your kids did things like this you automatically knew you were meant to be a mother. She finally smiled, her eyes twinkling with affection and her heart in her smile. They'd done it, they'd found her missing piece.

After their mother had nuzzled and thanked them, Anissa nudged her sister and whispered, "I told you Dad didn't take it, Nessa!"

Vanessa sighed, "It was a joke!"

The two girls giggled and started grazing with their mother, it was going to be a happy day after all.

Father Prompt Response:

The sun was shining bright this morning, and the wind was soft. Birds chirped, and many other woodland creatures ran about the forest without a care in the world.

But that's not what made today special. That's not the reason a rather large smile was placed on a certain stallion's face.

Two young fillies could be seen playing off in an empty field with one another, the father not ten feet away from them, watching as they enjoyed life. There wasn't any possibly way that the scene before him could get any better. Perhaps if his loving mate was with them, but she had fallen ill, and he didn't want to interrupt her rest.

So he had taken on himself to show the girls the world. Not literally, of course, cause that was nearly close to impossible, but he could certainly do his best.

"Come along now, little ones." Sullivan called out to the girls, tilting his head to motion for them to follow. There was a path not far from where they played, and regardless to the fact it was empty, it was still utterly beautiful. Perfect for his two daughters.

"Yes Papa." They called out in unison, stopping their play to look at him. Such perfect little angels, and it filled him with joy to watch them. So very much like their mother, and hardly at all like himself. In both looks and personality.

Sullivan grew up with parents who loved to put fantasy into his young mind. He didn't live in reality until he was older, and it started to bite him in the rear end. A child at heart, but with the love of a beautiful wind mare, he learned what's fact and what's fable. And with the appearance of 'the angels' he had to be a stallion. No more colt like actions.

But that didn't mean he couldn't bring out the side of him that ran away after meeting his love. His parents could still live on through the hearts of the girls, if he let it be that way.

So six pairs of legs traveled down the pretty little path, and it took a minute for Sullivan to find the right words to say, his bright red eyes glued to the girls. "See, now this path we take, it can lead anywhere you want it to. Just because the path is going north, doesn't mean you have to go north." He grinned, watching as his daughters perked up their interest, and so he continued...

"You can turn around, and technically you're going south." A laugh escaped his throat. "But in all honesty? Where would you like this path to take you?"

The oldest of the two fillies looked at her sister, then back at her Papa, thinking about her answer. Anywhere, right? Anywhere she wanted..."The sun!"
And the younger filly nodded her head as soon as her sister spoke, "Yes! The sun is so pretty. I wanna go to the sun!"

This amused Sullivan to no end. Ah, so maybe they truly were his daughters, weren't they? "The sun? Alrighty then. Let's go to the sun!" And with that, he took off at full speed up the path, the girls dogging at his heels.

A story unfolded with each them the three of them took. They were what he called, 'Space Fliers' and the faster they went, the closer they got to the brightness. And they had to get away from the evil munchkins. Referring to the bugs in the sky of course.

The path was winding down to the end, and the small family had to stop quickly before they slid off it. "Have we reached the sun, Papa?" The older filly asked, her eyes gazing up towards the sky as she spoke. She felt closer, in her heart, even though she was no where near then she was when they began their adventure.

"If that's the way you want it, then yes. We've reached the sun. Let them have their own imagination, that's the way he was going to teach them the ways of his parents. Sullivan knew it would sink in. The girls hearts were wild and strong, and their minds could do anything they wanted.

"Come along now, my little Space Fliers. Your Mama's probably wondering why her darlings have been traveling without her. Shall we go back and tell her of our adventure?" He grinned, and they started back on the path towards his love.

Attempt For: Daddy
"Names": Foal 1 = Jill // Foal 2 = Jackie // Daddy = Papa (yes, for the RP things of himself as such)
Prompt: You've been very blessed throughout your life, especially in regards to your family, which consists of a loving mate and two beautiful daughters.

Your mate is currently feeling under the weather, so you've taken on the responsibility of looking after your two daughters. Where do you take them? What do you talk to them about? Do you try to teach them a life lesson, or do you play around?

He stopped. The girls had fallen behind - again; distracted by something in the forest. As the stallion turned to see what had captivated his daughters so, he saw that they were pestering a squirrel. Girlish giggles met his ears, along with angry chattering from the bushy-tailed rodent. "Jackie. Jill. Leave the poor creature alone. It isn't nice to pester them so." As he spoke, he walked back to them. He towered over the fillies, but lowered his head and nudged each of them along the path to get them moving. "We still need to discuss what we wanted to bring your Mama."

Jackie paused, her face pulled down in a filly version of a frown. Her father could tell that she had indeed forgotten, the forest was simply too amazing. "Well, what should we get her?"

Jill piped up from the other side of her da, "Apples!"

Papa shook his head, braids flopping around, "Not quite the right season, but you're thinking!" He nuzzled Jill affectionately.

Her sister thought about her own question as well, "A basket of grass?"

The stallion chewed his bottom lip, very undignified. "That could work, and what should we put in it?"

Jill tried again, "I know, berries!!!"

Papa chuckled, he couldn't help it. Jill and her fruit, she had a sweet tooth, that's for sure. "Okay, so let's go find some long grass and then go berry hunting. How does that sound."

"OKAY!" both girls cheered together, their short filly tails swishing back and forth happily.

So, they were off - the three of them were on the hunt. The grass was easy enough. They found it by stream.

As the three of them coordinated themselves carefully, the basket was succeeding - but Jackie hindered their progress. "Jackie, please stop eating all the grass..." Papa's eyes crinkled in a smile.

Jackie only smiled in return and continued to eat her treat.

Jill looked over at them. "Papa, where do babies come from?"

The stallion froze, "Jill! Where did you learn such foul language?" The day had come, and he was anything but ready. Oh, this was a job for their mama, not for him. What was he supposed to say? What was he going to do? His girls were both too young for such talk. He absorbed himself in the basket weaving, refusing to look up into his daughters' eyes until they had given him an answer first.

Jackie had finished her small snack. "But.... the beaver said that babies are nat-ur-al... and that we should ask our parents."

Papa took a deep breath. The grass-basket was almost done... if only he could delay them until then, and change the subject. He felt very skittish around this specific topic of conversation. "Well, baby soquili - like little fillies like you two - come from baskets."

"Where do the baskets come from?" Jill asked. She, at least, was helping with the basket while Jackie took another bite of grass.

"Uh," he hummed for a moment. "Well, your mama and I made them - just for you two!"

"Ooohmooo" Jackie tried to speak through a mouthful, very unsuccessfully. But it sounded like she was content with the answer. Jill nodded nearby, that was good for her as well.

He released a relieved sigh. Crisis averted - for now. It would come up again, but they'll be older and hopefully he'll be better prepared.

"Right!" Papa lifted the finished basket. "Let's go find those berries!"

Response for the mother~
---

The moon shimmered gently upon the lightly swaying grasses of the plains, a pale guide in a sky littered with stars. The wind mare lay comfortably amongst the foliage, wings folded lazily against her back. She didn’t quite know why she was still awake at such an hour, but there was something tonight about the sky that kept her staring to it. Her wings ached to be spread and to take flight amongst the heavens, but she knew better- her place was here, with her family. As much as she wanted to fly about for a while, she knew that both her daughters and her mate would be worried sick should they wake and find her gone.

No, she would never abandon them, no matter what may come to pass. She was so lucky to have a family that loved her as much as she loved them; she wouldn’t take that for granted, not now, not ever.

The dream catcher about her neck rustled softly as she shifted, ears swiveling to listen behind her. Creeping slowly up alongside her mother, the blue-marked filly quietly lay down next to her, nestling beneath the mare’s wing.

“Why would you be up this late, now?” the mare inquired gently, reaching her head down to gently nuzzle at the filly’s neck. Normally her daughters slept through the entire night- it was common for them to exert all of their energy running about during the day, after all. The fact that one was awake in the middle of the night brought a mix of confusion and worry to the mare’s mind.

“I couldn’t sleep,” the filly replied, a frown pulling gently at the corners of her maw, “I was thinking.”

“About what?” The mare gently lipped at the younger equine’s mane, a calm expression on her face.

“Well…” she paused for a moment, then continued on. “You have wings. Why don’t I have them?” The mare startled slightly, caught off guard by the question; she had never given much thought to the fact that neither daughter had wings, she had been so grateful just to have two beautiful foals of her own. Now, however, she had to think of a response that would make sense to the young filly…

“Yes, I do have wings,” she started, “But daddy doesn’t, right?” The foal nodded slowly in response. “Well, when two Soquili decide they want foals, the gods mix and match what they look like. You have the same color mane as me, but you have daddy’s markings, see?” She nosed gently at the wing-shaped marking at her withers. The filly made a soft noise, telling her that she understood most of what she was saying. “When they decided on what you and your sister would look like, they didn’t think that you would need wings.” She smiled broadly; she was inwardly glad she had been able to come up with a way to describe it to her daughter.

The filly thought for a moment, however, pondering hard. “Okay, but… why do you have wings, then?”

Another question she didn’t know how to explain…

“Well, when you look at a bird, there are not one, but many types, right?” The filly nodded again, eyes big and focused on her mother’s face. Her father’s eyes. “The same is true for us Soquili. There are not one, but many types that are spread all over these lands. Some stay here on the ground, others roam the skies, and there are even some that live within the lakes here.”

The filly stared, wide-eyed, filled with an immense sense of curiosity. Rather than asking another series of questions, however, she seemed content with the answers that her mother had given her.

“Good night, mommy.” Her voice was tired now, and the mare could feel her begin to relax, slowly falling into a deep slumber.

“Good night.” The mare replied gently, adjusting her wing so that it better covered the foal. Looking down to her and seeing that she was asleep, she returned her gaze back to the stars, watching them dance against the dark, night sky.

Response for Filly #2
For the purposes of this RP Filly 1 is Sirram, Filly 2 is Wila

Prompt: "Your mother is feeling under the weather, so you and your sister decide that you both want to do something to cheer her up. Where do you go, and what do you do to try and make her feel better/cheer her up?"

The morning started out differently that day. Instead of being gently nuzzled awake by her mother, Wila and her sister found themselves waking on their own. The sisters quickly learned that their mother wasn't her usual cheerful self. They both assumed this had something to do with how their father hadn't been back for a few days. This prompted the head-strong Sirram to come up with a plan to brighten the mare's mood.

"What're we gonna do, Sirram?" The dark blue filly asked as she trotted along side her sister.

"We're gonna go get some pretty flowers from the valley mumma told us she first met poppa at." She declared brightly.

"B-but that's so far away! What'll we do iffin we get lost?" Timid little Wila gasped, stopping in her tracks.

"We're not gonna get lost, mumma and poppa brought us there plenty of times already! What could go wrong?" Sirram snorted, glancing back to her sister.

Wila pawed at the ground, ears flicking nervously as she thought of the possible things that could go wrong. Not to mention all those times they got into trouble because of Sirram's decisions. The dark blue filly started to doubt whether she should follow her sister into the valley, wouldn't it be better if they picked flowers from a closer field? That would be a lot safer and they'd be able to get back quickly in case their mother started to look for them.

"Does this mean you don't you want to help me make mumma feel better?" The gray filly's words sounded shocked, almost hurt.

Wila's crimson eyes widened in dismay, "N-no! I do wanna make mumma happy-" Before Wila could finish the rest of her sentence, Sirram cut in "Then stop being a baby and let's go! And hurry up or I'll leave you behind."

Maybe Sirram was right, she was being a baby. Still, the nagging doubt lingered in the pit of her stomach as she followed after her sister. The pair trotted past streams and familiar fields, and so far things seemed to be going smoothly. Until Sirram, easily bored especially during travel, suggested they play "I spy" until they got to the valley.

Any attempt on Wila's part to persuade her sister in keeping their attention on the trial was met with the gray filly's response of "Stop being a big baby!" Which prompted Wila to play along and, well, play the game.

They spied many things, flowers, pretty-colored rocks, bugs, birds, winding paths and funny-shaped leaves. They were having a good time. And then Wila noticed they were on unfamiliar terrain. The ground which should have been soft and moist was hard and dusty.

"This doesn't look like the valley mumma met poppa in." Wila stated, trying to keep down the worry in her voice, "It doesn't even look like a valley. Where are we, Sirram?"

The gray filly said nothing, lips pressed into a tight line. A quick snort and she made a snappy 180 degree turn. "We're not at the valley but we're close."

Unbelievable! Wila was certain the valley was nowhere near this dry, dusty place. But what was she going to do about it? She'll still follow after her sister, but this time she's going to pay attention to where they were going. After a few moments, it was obvious Sirram could make neither heads nor tails where they were or how they could get back.

"Didn't we see that funny-shaped leaf earlier?" Wila motioned towards the said leaf. "Maybe if we remembered all the things we saw when we were playing "I spy" we could work our way back?"

Sirram nodded in agreement, "Yeah! And we can find our way to the valley too!"

Wila sighed and shook her head in resignation, there was just no changing Sirram's mind when she got an idea in her head, was there? But what could she do? Sirram was family and well, family sticks together, even if there were times she wished she had the gumption to stand up against Sirram.

Or hit her.

Whichever came first.

One of these days Wila just might. Just not right now. Because they were going to go to the valley that was so special to their mother and get her flowers to cheer her up.

Trying for Filly #2:

The sun painted a masterpiece on the sky as it rose higher and higher into the sky. The blends of pink, orange, and yellow danced in the sky and below this merriment, a small filly lay out in the grass. Gazing up at the sky, the little filly wasn't sure what she wanted to do today. Slowly, she got up and looked around.

Her father was standing nearby underneath a tree and he began walking towards the young filly. "Good morning sleepy head. Have you seen mommy this morning?"

Shaking her head rapidly, she had not seen their mother this morning. "Why? Should I go see her now?"

Her father shook his head too. "No, that's alright. She needs her rest because she's incredibly tired right now and she isn't feeling well."

Out of nowhere, another small filly ran straight into her father trying to knock him over. But her father was still standing when she looked up at him with a huge grin on her face. "Mommy's sick?!" She frowned unhappily and pawed at the ground wondering what they could do to make her feel better.

Pausing, the darker filly contemplated about what they could do to make their mother feel better. "Come on, sister. Let's go look around for stuff we could give her." She grinned happily and began to walk away from her sister and father.

"Be careful! Don't get lost and make sure you're back before it gets dark." The stallion chuckled softly as his other daughter ran off and followed the other one. They were so adorable. He was almost concerned about what they were going to bring back for their mother.

The darker of the fillies looked around curiously for anything she could give to her mother. There was... a rock with moss covering one side of it. Maybe this would make her mother happier. Being a foal, she didn't quite understand everything but she really just wanted to make her mother feel better. She continued to look around and noticed a large leaf that she could use to carry her findings back to her mother. Pushing the rock with her nose, the filly placed it onto the leaf. She continued to search the area for other things that could make her mother happier.

Pushing the grasses and other rocks over, she didn't spot anything else then she checked underneath a root of a large tree. Her eyes went wide as she saw half of a rock and small crystals inside of the rock. Immediately, she was reminded of the markings on her mother that made her seem like she was sparkling. Grinning happily, she rolled the rock onto the leaf and pushed it next to the other rock with moss on it. Besides the two rocks, the filly found some white flowers and placed them on the leaf too. Content with her findings, the filly dragged her findings back to her mother who was laying underneath a tree.

"Mommy, mommy!" The little foal ran towards her mother grinning widely dragging her treasures to her mother. "Look what I've brought you!" She opened up the leaf and showed her mother the slightly moss-covered rock, the rock with crystals in it, and the small white flowers. The filly looked up expectantly at her mother with a huge smile on her face.

The filly's mother looked at her daughter as she opened up the leaf. Smiling happily, she was so happy that her daughter was thinking about her. She lifted her head to get a better look at what her daughter brought her. Tilting her head as she saw the moss covered rock, she smiled happily. "Thank you so much, dear. I feel so much better." She looked at the rock with the crystals in it curiously. "Where'd you find this?"

Her daughter looked at the rock and spoke, "I found it underneath a tree root. I thought of you right away! It reminded me of your markings. Like how they make it seem like you're sparkling. Just like this rock!" She grinned at her mother happily hoping that her mother was pleased with her.

"Thank you again dear. I'm so happy that you brought me this stuff." She looked at the small rock crystal and smiled. "Yes, I'll cherish this forever." She took the leaf and tied it up and hid it behind her. "Now, I think I'm going to take a nap. Run along. You know I love you." She lowered her head and watched her daughter.

"It's no problem Mommy! I just want to make you feel better." She grinned happily and turned around. But she called out to her mother as she left, "I love you too, mommy!"

Her mother smiled and closed her eyes.

Both of your beautiful offspring have taken after their father, genetically. Neither possess wings, leaving you to be the only one in the family capable of flying.

One of your daughters questions you as to why she hadn't been born with wings like you. What do you tell her? How do you explain about the breed differences in Soquili, and why she doesn't have a set of wings herself?

------------------------------------------------------

“Mommy can I ask you a question?”
I looked up from grazing, a soft smile appearing on my face as I laid eyes on one of my beautiful daughters.
“Of course you may sweetheart. I’m always here to listen to your questions.”
She gave me a timid smile. “Why do you have wings but not Daddy or me or my sister?” Her words came out in a rush and then she looked embarrassed for asking. “Will I get wings someday?”
The instance she had asked, I began trying to think up a way that I could explain this to a child, knowing that she wasn’t going to think this was fair at all.
“I’m afraid not sweetie. You have to be born with wings.” I began, regretting my words as her face fell.
“But then why wasn’t I born with them? Am I not special enough? It’s not fair.”
I sighed, nuzzling her softly. “No baby, that’s not it. You are very, very special and I’m sure if having wings was based on specialness then you would have one of the most beautiful pair of wings that has ever been seen. You don’t have wings because your daddy doesn’t have wings.”
Though she seemed quite pleased at my praise, she was obviously disappointed by my answer to her question. “Did your daddy have wings then?”
I nodded. “Yes he did, but that doesn’t guarantee that I would be born with wings too.”
“But you just said-“
“I know, baby. Having wings or not having wings all depends on whether or not your parents had wings. If they both had wings, you probably will to, but if only one has wings then you have a chance of having them or not having them. You and your sister just happened to take after your daddy and I happened to take after mine. Aren’t you happy that you look like your daddy though?”
My daughter nodded and I nuzzled her softly. “That’s my girl.”

RP prompt:
Your mother is feeling under the weather, so you and your sister decide that you both want to do something to cheer her up. Where do you go, and what do you do to try and make her feel better/cheer her up?

Going for Filly 2 (Zada):
Names:Filly 1 Hala, Filly 2 Zada, and Mother, Tala.

"We should do something for mother, too help her feel better," Zada said out of the blue.

Zada's sister Hala titled her head and looked closely at her sister, "What do you have in mind?"

"Well I was thinking about getting some wild flowers for her, you know she loves flowers." Zada's eyes wouldn't meet her sisters as she explained what she had in mind.

Hala gave her sister a pointed look, "And the fact the only flowers in bloom right now is in a meadow we were told by Father not to go to alone doesn't have anything to your sudden desire to get flowers for mother?"

Zada was the picture of innocence as she tried to appear hurt at her sisters inference she had anything of the best attentions about the reason she wanted to get flowers for their mother. " I really can't believe you would imply I have any other motives besides wanting to make Mother happy with some pretty flowers!" shakeing her mane out Zada continued, "besides we wont be alone, since we will be going together!"

"Alright I will go with you but if...no when we get caught you are taking full credit for it" Hala insisted.

Zada excited to be able to go on an adverture began running ahead and leaping high in the sky.

"Zada! Wait for me!" Hala yelled after her, not happy at being left behind.

Finally they reached the meadow where Hala wanted to pick the first flowers they saw and head back. "Flowers are flowers, Mother will love any we bring back so why can't we just grab some and go?"

"Because, Haaalllaaaa," Zada whined, "the flowers must be the best of the best! Since you don't care about getting the best for mother, I will just have to find them!"

Storming off Zada looked closely at each flower she passed inspecting it to see if it was the perfect one. It was nearly two hours before Zada had found enough perfect flowers for the bouquets.

"About time!" Hala grumbled as Zada returned with the flowers.

"Your just jealous I can find such wonderful flowers!" Zada said snootily, "Now do hurry up Hala it's getting and they will start missing us soon."

"But...but you were the one who...Gah! Zada will you wait up!" Hala said as she rushed after her sister a second time.

The pair made it back befor dark but barely. Avoiding their father, the young Fillys went the long way around to find their mother. Spotting her, Zada was the first to offer her flowers.

Putting them at their mother feet, Zada looked up hopefully, "We got you flowers mother! To help you feel better!" Zada said excitedly.

"Why they are beautifull thank you," Tala said as she bent down to smell them. "They are quite beautiful but I hope you didn't ignore your fathers rule about going to the meadow alone?"

"We weren't alone mother! We hade each other and I really wanted to make you feel better and it was the only place flowers were growing," Zada explained hurriedly.

Tala grinned a little, "They are very beautiful. I guess we don't have to tell your father you disobeyed him this time."

Zada and Hala looked hopefully at their mother. "But next time, I demand you take me to see the flower!"

Zada and Hala bobbed their heads in complete agreement. "We will!"

"Good, now lets find your father before he finds us! Last one to him has to find a way to explain where these flowers came from!"

Wide eyed, both fillys rushed after their mother determined not to be last.

Mother Prompt
Both of your beautiful offspring have taken after their father, genetically. Neither possess wings, leaving you to be the only one in the family capable of flying.

One of your daughters questions you as to why she hadn't been born with wings like you. What do you tell her? How do you explain about the breed differences in Soquili, and why she doesn't have a set of wings herself?

((For the purposes of this prompt, the mother's name is Breeze [yeah, shut up, I'm being creative for the PROMPT here XD] and the filly's name is Sedona.))

Breeze tugged some tender leaves from the top of the tall tree, keeping one eye on her filly down below. She could tell that the dissatisfied look in Sedona's eyes would probably not be mollified by her favorite snack. Not today. Even if the twins were her first offspring, Breeze was learning quickly that mother's instincts were real, and that it paid to listen to them.

These were the times that scared her. The times when she was acutely aware of the need behind those curious questions, those confused eyes... and the awareness that she had to give answers, good answers. They depended on her so completely. She had to have those answers. The good ones, the right ones. Even the ones she herself didn't know.

It could be terrifying. Nobody had told her about that particular aspect of parenting when she'd first become pregnant.

Her mouth now filled with fresh green leaves, the newest growth that only winged Soquili could really harvest, Breeze took as deep a breath as she could manage and spiraled down to meet her daughter. She landed carefully and bent to lay the leaves on the grass. "There you are, little one - fresh from the treetops, just for you." She gave Sedona a smile.

Please, please be happy with just this. Just for now.

But the filly nosed at the leaves and then sighed, and looked up at her mother with that expression that was the scariest thing in the world. That pleading look that said I don't understand, I have a question, I trust you completely to tell me everything. "Mom..."

Breeze folded her wings, faintly nervous. She was fairly sure she knew what was coming. "What is it? Is something wrong?" The mare poked at the leaves lightly with one hoof.

"I... um..." Sedona's gaze flicked over to her mother's wings. "How come... how come I don't got wings like you?"

"Don't have wings," Breeze corrected, while the rest of her mind spun into overdrive. This was one of the questions she'd been dreading. She'd always known since the girls were born that they'd ask it someday, and she'd thought about it here and there, but now, now when it was actually being asked... when her answer really did matter...

Sedona was looking at her.

Breeze sighed, and bent down to lip gently at her daughter's mane, smoothing it away from her face. "Darling, you know there are many different kinds of Soquili in the world. I've seen you watching them." The filly nodded, slowly. "Soquili with wings, like... like me. Flutters, who have wings like butterflies, I know you saw that stallion the other day. Some Kalona have wings, though I pray you'll never see one of those." Breeze flicked her ears back for a moment. "And there are Angeni, who have so many wings that even I don't know how they manage!" She smiled, and Sedona returned the grin after a moment. "Someday I'll show you some Kelpi and Mer Soquili, who live in the water. And you know Daddy's friend, the Uni..."

"Yeah, but..." Sedona interrupted, then squirmed. "All of them got somethin' special about them. Wings 'n' horns 'n' special tails 'n' stuff. But..." Her ears lowered. "I don't got nothin'."

"Now, that's just silly," Breeze said, with a whuff. "Every Soquili has something special about them. Your dad is a ground Soquili, and you two are like him. You wouldn't call him 'not special', would you?" She gave her daughter a teasing nudge.

"No!" Sedona giggled and stumbled a bit, then sobered. "But..."

There was always a but. Breeze shook her head. "You're part Wind, like me. I have wings on the outside. Perhaps you have... have wings on the inside. In your heart."

There was a long pause.

"Momma, that was so cheesy." Sedona stamped one hoof.

Breeze looked sheepish. "A... a bit, yes." Some fillies would have eaten that up and that would have been the end of the discussion right there, but trust her children to be more... discerning... than that! "My point, though... is that you don't need to be able to fly or swim to be special. If the only thing that made Soquili special was what they looked like, wouldn't that be boring? Your father's best friend isn't special because he has a horn, he's special because he tells the best stories in the world, right?"

Sedona considered this for a moment. "I guess so?"

"See, there you go. Think how boring it would be if he just came over and had everyone admire how pretty he looks, instead of telling stories!"

The filly giggled. "He does that anyway!"

Breeze grinned. "Yes, but he tells you wonderful bedtime stories too. And if the only thing that made me special was my wings... then all I could do would be to fly around all day! No songs in the morning, no games, nothing like that. All your dad would do is run around! But we're all much more than what we look like and what our breeds make us able to do." She dipped her head down and nuzzled Sedona's cheek. "All of us."

Sedona shied away from the nuzzle at first, but then paused and leaned into it. "I guess. It's still cheesy, though." She stuck out her tongue.

"Ah, you sassy thing," Breeze mock-scolded, tugging lightly at Sedona's mane. "But... you do understand? Right?"

The pause seemed to take an eternity, but, finally, Sedona nodded. "Yeah. Thanks, mom."

"Good girl. Now go have your snack and play with your sister, hm? It'll be storytime later today."

"Kay!" Sedona dipped her head down and scooped up a mouthful of leaves. "Mffgs, Mmm!"

"You're welcome," Breeze called after the filly as she cantered away. Then the mare let out a long, slow breath.

Well. That hadn't gone too badly at all, all things considered. Of course, there was the matter of her other daughter to deal with, but... that could wait. Just for now. She'd already managed a big enough hurdle today.

There would be more parenting hurdles tomorrow, she knew. Big ones and small ones. Some that not all the wings in the world could help her jump. She had to depend on herself, on her mate. And it was scary.

But somehow, as she watched her daughters play, she couldn't help but think it was worth it.

Even if the thought was... cheesy.

Father Prompt
Another cool wind blew through the little valley that belonged to the small family. It had been unnaturally cold as of late, this far into spring. It confused the stallion as he looked skyward at the clear blue that was scattered with white fluff ball clouds. At the sound of another sneeze he turned his gaze to the winged mare who lay curled up in the sun, trying to attract as much heat as she could. His gaze softened and he moved to her side, nuzzling her softly. His loving mate, his darling. This cold weather had effected her as well, bringing on some sickness he pray was not serious. He could not bare the thought of her sneezing and coughing to mean the end of their life together. He shook his head.

“Darling…” He spoke softly for her knew her hearing had become more acute with the onset of this sickness. “Darling I am going to take out the girls for a bit.” He stated kindly. “Take a nap and rest, eat something, please, and don’t work yourself to much. We will be back by nightfall, I promise.” He nuzzled her cheek softly. “You just try and feel better.” He smiled lovingly at her as she nodded and curled up more to sleep.

Turning he quietly walked away before coming to the spot where their two foals, both little fillies full of energy, played. “Girls.” He called, his voice loud enough for them to hear, but not loud enough that it would carry and disturb his mate. “your mother feels ill and so we are going out today so she might have some time to rest and get better.” he explained the situation to the girls.

The younger of the two fillies, the little dark blue bodied girl with pink markings, looked up at him. “Where are we going?” She asked. The other, a little gray filly with blue markings, chimed in as well. “Yes, where, where?”

The stallion smiled softly at his offspring. They were beautiful and he adored them. They were second only to his mate, who meant more to him then anything in the world. “Well…I thought a little field trip would be nice. Going outside the valley here and seeing if we see any of those two legged creatures your mother always talks about.” He smiled. He, like the two fillies he had fathered, had never seen a two legged nor been around many others. He had met others like him, even a few winged like his Darling, but not much beside, having been used to living alone for a long time. His mate, on the other hand, spoke of living with a two legged who she had cared for deeply. Until she met him of course. He smiled. “And perhaps we can get some of those flowers that grow by the river and perhaps some fruit as well to make your mother feel better. How does that sound?”

The two fillies nodded with excitement. “Yes yes!” they exclaimed. However their father quickly hushed them, reminding them of their mother. “Sorry.” they said softly.

The stallion shook his head. “Now follow me.” He smiled softly and lead the two fillies out of the valley, past the hills that guarded them, and then into the world. The world. He suppressed a shutter. He preferred the small confines of the valley, the family he loved, the light and un tainted world they created. He would much rather stay there for the rest of his life. However he knew it was impossible. One day the two daughters he loved so much would want to leave and he would not have them unprepared. And one day someone might stumble upon the hidden valley or they might be forced to leave it and he would not be unprepared himself. His mate might have knowledge to last, but he did not. He would learn.

Smiling softly he nudged the closest of his daughters. “Tag.” He said, uttering the familiar game starter. As soon as he saw her eyes light up he took off, knowing both would chase him, even if only one was technically “It”. They liked to team up on him whenever they played. Their reason was that he was so much bigger then they it was only fair. He simply agreed with them. Smiling he ran away from his daughters, leading them farther from the safety of their home. For this first trip he hoped to meet no one. No one just yet. Let them all get used to the natural world before they ran into any two legged or other wise. Let them acclimate to the area for now…

The hours passed and just as the sun was setting over the horizon the small band of father and daughters returned to the entrance that lead them to heaven. As he had hoped they met no one, though they spotted a mismatched herd of some odd characters from afar at one point. They had to stop at that point so he could explain to them the different wings and the horns and tails they possessed. He only knew what his love had told him but it was enough for the girls. The continued on, playing their games of tag and enjoying themselves. The girls now drug their feet as they walked, bodies sluggish now from simple exhaustion. They were all tired.

The trio trudged into the valley, all smiling to see their mate/mother awake and waiting their return. She looked a million times better then when they had left. “Mommy!” The girls cried as suddenly they had enough energy to run to their mother, nuzzling her and snuggling close to their mother.

“Girls, off to bed.” The black stallion called as he more slowly approached is mate. He could see she was still tired and sick, but at least she was improving. “Tomorrow you can tell your mother what we did.” He smiled as they nodded and ran to their favorite sleeping places. The two of them were tired once more as they lay down and he watched them fall asleep quickly. “Sleep well.” He said softly before following his mate to their spot and laying beside her. He positioned himself to he was curled slightly around her. “Feeling better darling?” He asked. He heard her muffled reply and smiled lightly. “Sleep well my love.” He said softly. He closed his eyes and relaxed, drifting to sleep beside his love.

I'm trying for the 2nd Filly. ^^ Her name is Amaya, and her sister's name is Nerifiti. The mom and dad are simply going to be referred to as such. <3

Your mother is feeling under the weather, so you and your sister decide that you both want to do something to cheer her up. Where do you go, and what do you do to try and make her feel better/cheer her up?

---

"Dad? Is there something wrong with mom?"

A navy blue foal nosed a sleeping stallion under the shade of the tree. He opened his red eyes to stare at the filly.

"Mmm? I don't believe so. Why?" He shifted his body so he could look at the winged mare, who was laying down. Her blank expression and slow, solemn movements made him understand why his daughter would be worried.

"Mom hasn't gotten up all morning, even to eat. Is she sick?"

"No. Not sick... Maybe just tired."

"Tired? Tired of what?" The filly flicked her tail while prancing around the black horse. Her little legs never knew the meaning of tired, since she was always up and about playing and generally enjoying life. This was the first time she had ever seen her equally pleasant mother so down, and it made her antsy not knowing why.

"Is she tired of me?" She suddenly paused in her frolicing, giving her father a remorseful look. Immediatly, he shook his head wildly, and beckoned the little one to come closer.

"Amaya, your mother loves you and your sister very much. She, like all the other Soquili, will still have her sad times regardless. But it'll never be because of you. Just give her the rest of the day to herself and she'll be back on her feet in no time."

"Ok..." Amaya shuffled her hooves, unsatisfied by her father's answer. Glancing back at her mother, she found it hard to leave her alone in such a state of melancholy. The last sentence of the speech she just recieved became irrevelant as she skittered off in search for her sister.

---

"Amaya, why are we looking for flowers?"

"Because flowers always cheer mom up! Haven't you noticed? One look at one and boom! She has a smile on her face!" She treaded carefully in the field of white and yellow petals, not wanting to harm any plant or insect. Nerifiti however, was less empathetic than her sister and trudged through with no thought on the flowers she squashed.

"But we have to give her the perfect flower, cause she's the perfect mom! Any less won't be good enough!" Amaya ignored her sister's eye rolling and sniffed the center of a daisy. Pondering for a moment, then continuing on, she tried to outline the characteristics of a 'perfect flower' while looking for such a thing.

"Ooh look! A bee!" Nerifiti reared up to touch the flying bug with her hoof, but the foal next to her wouldn't allow that. Eyes growing wide with concern, she gently pushed her down back on all fours and snorted.

"Be careful! You don't want to get stung and have to make mom tend the sting!"

"Sorry..." The grey filly surpressed the giggle from the unintended pun that Amaya made. The search went on with several more similiar incidents, and the sun was high in the sky before their quest would be completed.

Holding up a stem of a buttercup, Nerifiti showed her sister the delicate yellow flower, only to recieve objection from her.

"Not good enough. See how that petal is slightly smaller than the rest?" Amaya watched her set down the flower and gazed out to the rest of the meadow. They have combed half of it, and haven't found anything satisfactory. Though Nerifiti was beginning to doubt that there was a flower beautiful enough for her mother and sister, Amaya scoured another patch of violets, without any hope lost.

"This is taking foreveeeeeer. Can't we just grab some and bring to mom? I bet she won't care."

Amaya poked her head out of the flowers and sighed. She glared at Nerifiti for two seconds and dove back into the patch.

"That isn't possible! We're doing this to make her happy again! Would it make her happy if she knew we didn't push ourselves enough?"

A silence only broken by chirping birds and rustling leaves gave her the answer. She trotted over to some petunias without another word. Although frustrated by her sister's stubborness, her words did have some truth to them. Nerifiti shrugged and continued to help the search.

It was several moments later that Amaya bursted out in a gleeful neight with a daffodil in her mouth. She kicked around a bit before turning to the surprised foal.

"I got it! See how bright and fresh-smelling this is? Feel the soft petals! I told you there was a perfect flower somewhere in this meadow!"

"Yeah yeah, can we go now?" Nerifiti didn't share the same enthusiasm, but was relieved at last that her sister's maniacal obsession was finally over with.

"Well, unless you want to find some more to make a bouquet..." Amaya snickered at her sister's face of shock. "Kidding. One is good enough. Now let's go find mom!"

---

"Amaya! Nerifiti! What's with the flower you're holding?" The Wind Soquili was pleasantly surprised at yellow flower her youngest daughter was bringing with her. The blue filly grinned and placed it in front of her feet.

"It's for you mom! You were all sad this morning so me and sis went looking for this perfect flower to cheer you up!"

She uttered a soft 'awww', causing the two girls to blush, and whiffed at its petals. "Thanks you darlings! This indeed brought a little light into my day, along with you two's act of kindness."

The mother beamed back at them and sniffed at it more. Suddenly, a bee, disturbed by the big horse, buzzed out of the daffodil and landed on her nose. Amaya gasped and jumped away from the insect.

"Don't move mom! There's a-"

"Yes, there's a bee on my nose, I know that honey. Not to worry, it won't sting me." She blew at the yellow and black spot and it flew away promptly. Even with the small danger gone, the filly was still upset that the perfect flower wasn't so perfect after all. That bee could've stung her and made her day even more depressing.

"I-I'm sorry! We tried to find a flower as flawless as you, and I thought that was it! But there was a bee inside it..."

She whinnied with amusement at her daughter's thinking, and straightened up a little. "Not to worry. I would've been happy with any flower you gave me, perfect or no. But I do appreciate the effort you put into the nice deed." She added the last part, seeing that Nerifiti gave the 'I told you so' look to her sister.

"But since you did a little something for me, why don't I do a little something for you. Starting with your manes. Goodness, searching for the flower got your hair all into a tangle!"

Despite the protests and 'aww mom's from the two fillies, she sat up and started grooming them, starting with Amaya. "I'm your mother, and I can't have you two looking like you rolled around in a bunch of bramble. Stay still now!"

As the cleaning went on, the two struggled a bit less and cooperated. Amaya glanced up and smiled at her mom, who smiled back.

It was so nice to see her mother happy again. With the help of her father and sister, she was able to brighten up her day, and maybe her own day as well.

[[For filly 1 (blue markings)]]
---

The filly pranced through a small stand of flowers, tail held high and light on her feet. Bright crimson eyes darted to and fro, in desperate search of something perfect. It had to be perfect, because it was a gift from her to her mother. They were both faultless, after all.

“Did you find anything yet?” she called out, tail wriggling as her sister popped up from behind a springy shrub.

“No, not yet,” she called in return, pink markings barely visible from where she was standing, “But this place is chock full of flowers, I’m sure you’ll find something nice soon.”

The filly nodded- indeed this place was. It was a small clearing in the forest, a short distance from where they and their parents had stopped to rest. There was a small, trickling creek running through the center of it, and hundreds upon hundreds of flowers in every shape, color and size imaginable. In fact, the little girl hadn’t had a clue on where to start looking when they had first found this place.

It made her angry that her mother was sick, after all. Not because it was anyone’s fault, but simply because she didn’t know how to make her better.

Stirring herself from her thoughts, the filly glanced down to right beneath her feet. A single cerulean flower sat there, somehow having been missed from her footfalls. “I’ve found it!” she yelled, attracting her sister over to her. She leaned down and gently cropped it from its stem, holding it delicately between her teeth. The two set off out of the glen, soon coming back to where their mother and father were resting.

The stallion gave them a soft look, almost gently warning the foals to be quiet. The wind mare laid sleeping, chest rising and falling gently with each breath. The filly crept close, right up next to her, gently dropping the azure flower in a place she would see it. Settling down next to her, she laid her head upon the grass below, eyes closing to fall softly asleep. When mother woke, she would see the flower that matched her eyes and know it came from her. She would get better because of it, she was sure. Why? Well, because it was perfect, just like her…

You've been very blessed throughout your life, especially in regards to your family, which consists of a loving mate and two beautiful daughters.

Your mate is currently feeling under the weather, so you've taken on the responsibility of looking after your two daughters. Where do you take them? What do you talk to them about? Do you try to teach them a life lesson, or do you play around?

((Mommy's name is Sapphire! 8D)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Sapphire, are you feeling alright?" I asked my mate. My two beautiful daughters stood beside me, hooves clomping on the earth nervously.

Sapphire sighed. "I'm just not feeling very well," she answered. "Could you maybe care of our daughters?"

I nodded. "Sure," I replied, "Just make sure that you get plenty of rest."

I took them out to our field, a nice, long expanse of land. "So, what would you like to do? We'd better not bother mommy, she's not feeling well," I told them.

One of them, the one with pink markings, said, "Let's have a race!"

Her sister nodded eagerly. "Yeah! Just don't cheat this time!"

I said, "Okay. On your marks, get set--"

Before I could finish, the two of them were thundering past me. I shook my head as I passed them. I dashed on, and drew a line with my hoof to mark the finish line.

My daughters came thundering up. They were pushing and shoving, and one had mud plastered against one side of her cheek. "Hey!" I called as the other tried to push her into the mud again.

They both crashed to the ground at the same time, still kicking and pushing. "That's enough, you two!" I was ashamed at them. They should race fair and square!

"Games aren't about winning or losing; they're about having fun. Now try again, with no kicking or pushing, and tell me how it was different." I commanded angrily.

They did as told. With the rules, they said that they had so much fun! "I like the no hitting game," one sad eagerly.

And so, with their mother feeling better, I am proud to say that my beautiful daughters have never played dirty since.

Ruko - Father
Bailey - Mother
Rhapsody - Dark blue girl with red eyes
Harmony - Dusty blue girl with violet eyes
//

The rhythmic sound of rain drops hitting tree leaves and then falling to the ground echoed around the cave that Ruko, his mate, and their two daughter's shared. Currently most of the family was asleep, but that wouldn't last long. The girl's were always full of endless energy and woke up at the crack of dawn with demands to be entertained. Ruko and his mate, Bailey, were usually happy to do just that, but this morning was different. Bailey had been complaining for a couple of days about being tired but neither horse thought it to be anything serious. Unfortunately, it had turned into more than a couple yawns. Bailey ached all over and was exhausted even after a good nights sleep.

"Are you sure, love?" Ruko dipped his head, nuzzling his mate's neck affectionately. "Yes, now go on and take the girl's out. I'll be fine, and if they don't get out and play they'll drive us both insane." She smiled up at her mate and the black stallion couldn't help but laugh, he knew her words were the truth. "Alright, we'll be back later today. You rest and gather up your strength." They nickered to each other in parting and Ruko turned walking over to his children who were just beginning to wake up, his hoofs echoing softly against the cave walls.

Dipping his head he nuzzled both of his girls grinning as they stirred and slowly began to wake. They were such angels when they were asleep. When they were awake was a different matter entirely. They weren't brats, just full of spunk.

Harmony and Rhapsody yawned as they stood up, both giving their pelts a shake. Looking around Rhapsody saw her father staring down at her and she grinned, fully awake now. "What are we going to do today, Dad?" Not seeing her mother next to him like she usually was she looked past the black stallion and spotted her still asleep. Silly mother! Now is no time to be asleep! She started to bound over to her and n** and nuzzle her till she woke up, but she was stopped by her father's muzzle in her face. With wide eyes, she backpedaled to keep from running into him and ended up falling back onto her rump. Her father's deep, loving laugh filled the cave before he spoke. "Not today, your mother's not feeling well, so for today it's just going to be us three." Harmony walked over to her sister and father, her ears pricking forwards. "What are we going to do dad?" Neither sister seemed overly concerned about their mother, which was only because their father didn't seem worry. They both knew that if their mother was in danger or deathly sick their dad would be more concerned. Ruko chuckled at their eagerness. "Today were going to go on an adventure." He grinned as the girls eyes lit up and they began to shift their weight around unable to sit still in their excitement. He loved how animated and full of life they were. Knowing that they were likely to explode if they didn't get moving he began to walk out of the cave. "Follow me girls," They needed no further prodding and they nearly trotted out of the cave in front of their father.

Ruko laughed and sped up his gait following the girls out into the rain. The two fillies had stopped just outside the cave, fascinated by the raindrops falling from the sky. They had only seen rain once before and that was only for a couple minutes before it stopped and then it was only drizzling. Now it was raining in fat drops that would roll off tree leaves and land right on their heads. Ruko watched as they began to run around either dodging the raindrops or trying to get hit by them. Walking up to his girls he stopped in front of them and grinned down at them. "C'mon girls, this way." He trotted off into the forest and the girls looked at each other excitedly before running after him. "Where are we going, Dad?" "Are we going to see Kelpies?" "Are we going to see humans?" The girl's were bombarding him with questions and he laughed loudly. "You'll see girls, you'll see."

For a good five minutes they traveled through the forest, occasionally stopping to play in mud puddles. Surprisingly it was all three horses that were rolling around in the mud, Ruko was quite playful even as an adult. Finally, they reached their destination, a clearing at the edge of the forest. In the middle of the clearing was a large pond fed by a river.

Ruko stopped his girls at the tree's edge and dipped his head down to whisper to them. "Be very quiet and watch the pond." The girls looked at him with wide eyes and nodded before turning to stare at the pond. At first nothing happened, the water was still except for the ripples that the raindrops made. Then, after almost a full minute (which felt like an eternity to the two fillies) everything happened at once. One otter popped his head out of the pond, followed by three more. They chattered to one another and then a clamshell was thrown up into the air by one otter and the other three jumped up for it. That initiated a bout of playing, the otters jumping up and then swimming around the pond. It was a sight to see, four otters playing in the rain their bodies flying through the water and flipping around. Ruko grinned, not watching the otters, but his two daughters' who were grinning and laughing silently as they watched the otters play.

After a couple minutes, the otters slipped under water again and swam away leaving the pond empty. Ruko smiled and then turned away from the pond looking down at Harmony and Rhapsody. "C'mon girls, time to go home." He headed off in the direction of the cave, unbothered by his rain soak pelt since it was still summer. The girls followed him, also unbothered by their wet coats, but that was mostly because they were too busy talking to each other about the otters and how cool it would be to be able to fly through the water like they did.

The sister's talk lasted all the way to their cave, which gave Ruko some time to think, which was rare for him. He was glad he was able to share the day with his daughter's and show them something they had never seen before. The looks on their faces made it all worth it, he realized once again how much he loved his family and how lucky he was to have them in his life. They gave him meaning and a purpose like nothing else did.

Stepping into the cave the girls went off to their corner to dry off and figure out how they could fly through the water like the otters they had seen. Ruko smiled, watching them for a moment, but then he headed over to Bailey who was now up and munching on some of the grasses that grew through a crack in the cave floor. Coming up next to her he nickered and nuzzled her receiving a nicker and a nuzzle in return. "It seems you're feeling better" He smiled at her and Bailey smiled in return. "Much, it seems all I needed was a couple hours of quiet time and rest." She chuckled; there wasn't much quiet time when you were taking care of two rambunctious fillies. Speaking of, "So, what did you and the girls do today?" Ruko smiled and looked over at his girls, who were still plotting. "Oh, we just went on an adventure."

"Names": Foal 1 = Jill // Foal 2 = Jackie // Daddy = Papa // Mommy = Mama
Prompt: Your mother is feeling under the weather, so you and your sister decide that you both want to do something to cheer her up. Where do you go, and what do you do to try and make her feel better/cheer her up?

Jackie stamped her foot and rolled her eyes. "Come on, Jill, there has to be something we can do!"

Her sister lazed in the soft, new grass. "Papa told us not to bug Mama, remember? That's why we are out here - enjoying the sun and listening to the other animals."

Jackie walked to Jill and nudged her leg with a small hoof. "And since when do you do what Papa says?" Her red eyes sparkled with mischief. She knew how to play the strings for her sister - then again, the manipulation (if you could call it that) went both ways.

Jill snorted, just to prove a point, since their Papa didn't like them making such unladylike gestures. "Fine, what did you have in mind?" She jumped to her own feet, almost cracking her head on Jackie's chin in the process.

She took a step back, no such thing as too cautious around Jill! "Well, Papa said he didn't want us bugging Mama, but don't we always cheer her up when she down? Who else is better at it then us?"

Jill nodded in agreement, this was all very true. "We should bring a gift." She turned on a heel and ran off.

Jackie started in surprise, it was almost as if her sister knew exactly what she was going to bring. She was not about to let Jill have all the fun, or the glory! The filly kicked up her own heels and trailed after. Where was Jill going?

The trees disappeared and they continued to run. Jackie was on the verge of being lost, but put her trust in her sister. The ground inclined, Jackie and Jill were running up a hill at full-speed. Just when the filly thought her legs would collapse and she could not take another step, Jill slowed and finally stopped.

"Where. Are... We?" Jackie's sides worked to catch her breath. She was not familiar with this area - the grass had a more blue tint, the trees were not as large. Even the flowers were different - with tiny petals of blues and reds.

"Why, we're here!" Jill laughed.

Jackie would have given a witty retort, if she wasn't having such a hard time breathing.

Jill walked to the clearing and as she passed the dainty little flowers, leaned down to pick up the best ones. She continued the ritual until she simply could not hold anymore flower stems in her mouth. By the time Jill returned to her, Jackie was breathing normally and followed all movements with those bright red eyes.

The flowers were dropped carefully at their hooves as Jill looked at her sister impishly. Jackie didn't know what to think. "Yes, they're flowers...so what?"

Jill snickered. Her sister's face warmed. "Silly, we can make things out of them. I have an idea! We can make wreaths and anklets and necklaces.... It's sure to make Mama feel better."

Jackie listened politely, but her face lit up at her sister's plans. "That's a great idea!"

The girls giggled and talked about everything a filly dreams of while they made their jewelry. As they walked - carefully - back to their Mama, they pretended they were Angeni.

Jill tossed her head, the flowers sounding like a light breeze as they rubbed against each other and her own soft mane. "I am the glorious Jillasina, the keeper of floral sweets and fresh grass!" Her laughs of glee reached Jackie's ears.

Well, Jackie couldn't have her sister one-upping her. Everyone knew about her weakness for fruit. "Well I am J'ckina, the bearer of cheer and joy!'

Jill snickered and rolled her eyes, "You're about as cheerful as a porcupine needle stuck in someone's hoof!"

"Am not!" Jackie clacked her teeth and nudged her sister with her shoulder. She wasn't a prude, sure she wasn't as easy-going as Jill, but she could bring cheer and joy when she tried!

"Am too," Jill stuck her tongue out at her sister.

They were nearing clearing they knew there mother was. Both girls closed their mouths and crept forward. If Papa was around, he would probably tell them to run along and play - Mama needed her rest. But he wasn't there, so the fillies stepped into the clearing.

"Mama?" Jackie asked carefully as the slowly advanced.

Jill was not as careful, the filly ran up to their tired mother. "We brought you something, Mama!"

Mama turned and smiled at the girls, "Hey, what have you two been up to? Staying out of trouble, I hope?"

Jackie sent a glare to her sister... the last time they had 'brought' something, it had come with some rather dire consequences. "Ye'es. We behaved."

At the same time, Jill tried to reach forward and offered one of the wreaths. This one was the most extravagant, with a kind of flower crown and flower streamers that trailed behind. "We can be like Angeni now! They are the Crowns of Enlightenment. Quick, Mama, what do you want to Protect and Watch over? And we must Crown you, or the magic of the Crowns will be lost forever."

Mama's tired eyes crinkled, "Oh, is that so?" She bowed before her daughter and allowed Jill to Crown her with the flowers as she whispered something to Jackie.

Jackie giggled at her mother, but announced her new Title. "We present to these Lands Mam'aita, the collector of snooty and the deliverer of sleep. She Watches over all who reside here by taking the unwanted and offering relief."

Jill flinched, that was not the type of thin she would have wanted! But she continued to shower her Mama in jewelry of red and blue flowers.

"We welcome you, Mam'aita." Jackie finished her little speech.

Mama lifted her wings and gave her daughters the kind of hugs they loved so much. "And I welcome you, daughters of mine!" Her voice still rasped and her wings were not quite as strong as the usually were, but Jackie could tell that at least her spirits had risen. Maybe she really was a bearer of joy.
