Deadlines are deadlines.
You don;'t win the lotto if you get the numbers the next day. You don't win a raffle if you aren't there. And if you don't show up to a game, you get no chance at the MVP. If you're late to an official writing contest, especially after the winner has been announced, you can't ask for an extension. I'm sorry, there'll be other contests she can participate in.
Further, if she gets an entry after having so mmuch more time than us, then so do we.

Let me back up now. As for ANY COMMENT I'VE MADE ON JUDGING, It goes only about the prize. She should be allowed the title and flashy ribbons that say she's number one, or whatever rank she gets. Thus, I think she definitely should be allowed to enter and be judged. I've thought that from step one.
The prize, though...I dunno. I've said what I will, it's in your hands, K. You either can tease Tori because he's had his moment of glory and expected a prize, only to say "Nope, sorry" or tell Neross the rules are rules. Neither's fair. I know it's hard to choose, which is why I've not really taken any side for the moment. I thought for the moment to side with Tori because I promised him...plus he was just shy of having it, then taken away, but now I think Neross should be allowed a chance. But please, by all means let her have fun! I anxiously await what she will type.

Y'know, the intelligent people out there know not to screw with me. Johnny's been learning this and I like to think he's learned from his mistakes, as has John.
But now I have Tori telling me how things run? I can almost laugh at it - almost. We have lives outside of the guild, or at least we should. NONE OF US should be excluded so long as we have valid reason for our absences. The ONLY reason I'm allowing Tori his prize is to be fair. Lucky lucky. You've earned your 10,000 gold. Out of K's pocket. I'd never dream of awarding you after that brilliant display of rude behavior.
My official ruling, unless K wants to argue it: Neross, and Neko if she pleases, will each be given a chance to post. Should either of them beat Tori, they'll be given a Monthly Letter from me. I'll save you the mighty $2.50 in rewards, K, if you agree to my terms.
By the way: I know I owe someone their damn prize. And I sent them their trade after that contest for the to receive their money and their prize, but it was never accepted. If the issue is addressed one more time outside of a PM DIRECTLY TO ME, I'm going to get really, really pissed.
Start bugging K for your 10k and SHUT THE HELL UP, Tori.

After this dimwitted incident, I will be posting a "Contest Rules" page outlining basic contest rules. Can't believe I've been brought to do it, but oh well. Look for it tonight, the night of May 14th.
Oh wait...if I give Neko or Neross a monthly letter, it'll be open by tomorrow! I suppose I'll just let them choose their prize.

Ok I am going to post what I think about everything....... religious debates got to love them.
Death is a very interesting thing to think about. Church tells us we will either go to heaven or hell. They tell us Heaven to keep us on the straight and narrow, and they tell us about Hell to scare us into believing that if we don't stay on the straight and narrow we will burn.
Personally I don't believe in either of these things. I believe if we don't get it right the first, a higher power gives us another chance, i.e. Reincarnation. Also I like to believe that there is a place where we can see our loved ones but i don't believe that it is a place where there is joy all the time. That would be boring, and I wouldn't want to go there.
My grandma recently died and one of my friends is on her death bed so I have been thinking about this subject a lot lately. What I can say on this subject is that no one really knows what happens after we die, because no one can come back and tell us. I like to think that in the realm I go to as I sleep is the realm where I will stay when I die, and that is what keeps me going when everything seems to go wrong.
About two years ago my best friend James was hit and killed in a hit and run accident. I started having doubts about the whole heaven and hell thing then. I just did not want to believe that the man that hit him could just ask for forgiveness and would be sitting next to me in heaven. So now i believe that we go to a place where all our loved ones are.
Sorry if I rambled a little to much. Oh and Kain, what I am about to say is probably going to get me kicked off the guild, but please don't talk to my brother like that. It really bothers me when you do. Him and I are very close and I would appreciate it if you are going to talk to him like that to do it in Pm's.

As for how I talk to your brother: I really don't care if it upsets you. You're not going to be kicked out of the Guild for expressing your love for your brother, but I'm not going to apologize much less retract any statements because of it either. If he decides to make comments like those public, then know mine will be public as well.

Your opinion should, and in my book, always will count. I'd give my left nut to have a sister that cared like you. sweatdrop Your brother's a good guy. I may hate apologies, but somehow his apology bypassed that hatred and I have no ill feeling towards him.

Life and Death, especially where we go after we die is something of an old subject for me as I've had experiences with it that not many others have. This is most likely because I was exposed to the concept of death from a very early age. It's mostly because I refuse to believe that my father could be burning away in hell for murder when he was only acting on behalf of his country for a cause he may or may not have believed in, even more so since it was what eventually led to his death. I am simply unable to believe that the father who took care of me on the very day he died could be rotting away in hell for taking the life of another.
In the end I think I believe that when we die we are not judged for what we did in life. I believe it is much more like we are able to move on to something greater. And in terms of greater I suppose you could say I believe that we go to a place that is so impossible to picture, not because it is the ideal paradise, or the picture of eternal pain, but because it is simply something we are not yet able to understand. I believe life prepares us for understanding what comes next, whether it be another life beyond this one we are given, or a place where we can, at last, find a sort of peace we could not in life. I believe that each person chooses their own destination after death, because I believe everyone deserves to have some sort of rest. And I say rest because, what is death other than going to sleep for the last time. I'm not sure whether I believe that my father might be watching down on me from 'heaven' or anywhere else. But I'd like to believe that somehow he knows what I've done with my life, and is proud of me because of it.

Aw man was I not in my right mind...I didn't realize that Cat posted already, wow...Pfft, That's what I get for not being able to sleep. But still, if you were under a lot of stress from School or wherever, I do believe that you should've taken your time, and in effect, maybe you should still have been awarded the time offered.
By the way...who's actually READ the fresh new rules that Kain posted, aside from me? Anyone? (This is my last comment on the subject.)

Ok ladies and gents im sorry for the delayed Verdict.
Now Kain i like to thank you or moderating with the kind of authority that was needed her. So heres what is going to happen.
TORI Is the original winner BUT;
1. Only by default seeing as two other people did not enter for the prize.
2. Your PUBLIC out burst on late entries is not good sport mans ship. No matter how you meant it, it was inappropriate and i will not reward a third place winner with a poor sense of whats fair.
3. The late entries essay's were all frankly fair. Whether they read your before or after does not matter. This was a highly personal topic that i am happy everyone decided to come together on and express their views.
Lastly our real winner.
We have two actually and me and kain will take the time to divvy this up.
Neross on the over all statement. That death is nothing more than eternal rest; where our souls can find the peace they seek. It is the eternal rest for our living days. The only reason she is not the lone winner is that;
Renji for saying something i believe. If we didn't get it right the first time we don't burn in hell. We get another chance to do the things that in our hearts we knew were right. TO LIVE HAPPY without harming others.
So these two win. They may be late entrants but they are guild members. REAL LIFE MATTERS MORE THAN THIS GUILD TO ME. (No offense if that offended anyone.) Thats the heart of this essay. These two captured it in a way that is indescribable except in the events they described to us and conveyed it in a way that spoke to me.
Congrats.
Due to there actually being two prizes avalible to the winner. You will each get one of the avalible. Ither the monthly prize or the 10k. If you two can come to a decision on who wants what that would make it easier on me.
