And now that I think about it, our teacher taught us to say things in Dutch. It's a pity that all I can remember is 'Hello,' 'Yes,' 'Thank you' and 'Thank you very much.' sweatdrop (in Dutch of course whee )

Velvy Proudly_Jewish Taormina If you want to know anything about Dutch, just ask me. is Dutch a difficult language to learn? ninja I think the pronouncing is a bit hard because there're things like oe , ij or maybe uu. Well... Thats the letters I've got some problems because we havent got words with ij or uu/aa in the german language. And mosttimes I wanna pronounce the "oe" like a but I think it's wrong , isnt it? But the rest is easie I think. EDIT: No I cant -.- oe is like the same in boo thats how to say the oe

Yes, the pronouncing is quite hard, as what I've heard of people not speaking Dutch. The grammar is also quite hard. You can end verb's with a 't' 'd' or 'dt'. We have a special technique for it. But I do not know if people learning Dutch also use it.

Vegetarian Cannibal I would really like to learn Dutch, I'm a quarter Dutch so a lot of my family live there, last time I was there I couldn't say a word to my relatives, so I would like to learn some before I next go. Any advice on learning Dutch? A very useful, but also a way your parents might not like, is putting notes on all the objects in your house. ( Or room whee ) Write the Dutch words for those objects on the notes and look at it everytime you're using that object. 3nodding ( Maybe even pronounce it every time? n.n'' ) My English teacher, who's originally from Scotland learned the language this way and he could speak decent Dutch in a year. whee Just don't forget to look at the Dutch grammar from time to time. 3nodding
Weird thing is, Dutch and English look alike. x.x ( well, at least before the colonisation in the U.S. Too much French influences in the English language after that. >.> ) Much Dutch and English words with the same meaning look almost the same. 3nodding

I found a great website for Dutch-learners a month or two ago: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/dutch/grammatica/index.htmBasically, it explains a lot of the grammar rules in Dutch - that site, plus a decent dictionary, should be a good start for anyone.
