"Yeah, he actually is. Its not that big of a deal, its not like I see them do anything besides kiss, which would probably scar me for life."
Irelia noted how close they were, and finally wondered if Jace really was going to kiss her. Or she just had no concept of personal space. But Irelia didn't move. Whatever happened, she was content to stay where she was. She so rarely had conversations with people that didn't end up with them fighting.

It was actually a little awkward: Jace halfway between a kiss and apparently just staring up Irelia's mouth and counting all the cracks on her lips, or whatever the hell she was doing. Maybe she really did have no concept of personal space. "Yeah," she said. "That's homo."
It was even more awkwardly that she bent down and suddenly kissed Irelia on the lips, swabbing her mouth briefly against the girl's, before propping herself back up on her elbows and tilting her head. "Weird," she said, more to herself than anything else. "Weird, I guess."
She flopped back down on her back and took the last bit of ostrich jerky. "I just didn't want someone gay to be kissing you first," she said, "like, I dunno, Ignacio."
Ignacio was a nice guy, but.

Irelia was about to retort when she felt Jace's lips on hers, if only for a moment. She lay very still, waiting to hear the angels on high or birds singing or something but she was still Irelia and Jace was still Jace.
"Huh."
Irelia was faced with the knowledge that perhaps things weren't exactly as they were in books. Besides, now she had had her first kiss. Now she was experienced.
Smiling, Irelia giggled.
"I think your meaning of homo and mine are different." Irelia didn't even know this Ignacio, but he sounded like a guy.
Irelia finally noticed that it was fully night out, the moon illuminating the field that they were lying in, masking how late it was.
"Hey, Jace, you think we better go home? Its not exactly the best hiding spot to keep away from the rescue operation that our parents will call on us."

"Yeah, whatever," said Jace; and the bells did not ring, the earth did not shatter.
That was that.
