I don't like the Dragonology books. It's like the writer mashed D&D together with myths and made something 'marketable' out of it. I mean, what's with the glitter? And passing the Norse Elder Futhark runes off as 'dragon script', since they actually don't have much, if anything, to do with dragons? Yeah, it's a good exercise of imagination, but a bad reference, truthfully. It's almost as bad as D.J. Conway's 'Dragon Magick' rubbish. No one in their right mind would call Fafnir as a quarter dragon. *shudders*
Neondragon's art is okay (I was amused when I learned that we do digital colouring nearly the same way concerning layers, but her colouring looks better than mine still), but I find it irritating that most of the people who learn how to draw from her tutorials don't even try to find their own style, and just copy her. It's really easy to tell who's learned from her, because the angles and shape of the head is always the same as hers.

the stuff in the dragonology just makes people imagine what the real stuff would look or fell like

Speaking of authors (or not) Terry Pratchett is a great author, even if he doesn't write mainly about dragons. His books do contain dragons in them. Such as Guards! Guards!

I wanted to read the Dragonology, but haven't picked it up. Don't want to get stuck paying money for something that wasn't any good. I have been collecting the Todd Macfarlen's dragons though, I love his action figures.
Also picked up a "How to draw dragons and other fantasy creatures" book to help with wings and stuff. Its alright, but I do have trouble applying the ideas to my own freeform drawings >.<
