"Mmmhmm!" He replied quickly. Lucky had spent well--a lot of time with his brother. His whole life in fact. They were born at the same time after all. The colt wondered if Carmine had any siblings. All the foals he had seen from a distance usually were kept in groups with their families. Or at least hung out with others that looked quite like each other anyway.
As she slowed and looked back at him, Lucky himself slowed. Lowering his head, ears flicked back as he took deliberate steps. Trying to keep as quiet as he could. He didn't want to be at fault of them being caught in case someone happened to be hanging around.
Following closely behind her, green eyes swept the area. Keeping a good look out for any movement. If someone was about to jump out and surprise them he'd know about it first and be able to inform Carmine in case they needed to run. Moving to the side of the tree, he lowered his head a bit more. Sniffing at its roots and trunk, trying to get a scent for it. It certainly didn't smell like the other trees that were still full of life and leaves. The tree smelt old and rotten. Probably the perfect place for anyone who was wanting to hide something they didn't want others to have.

"Guess I'll check everywhere..." She muttered under her breath as her memory failed to clue her in on the treasure's supposed location. Her father hadn't told her about this place too long ago so why couldn't she remember? She sighed and looked at the old, rotting, half dried out piece of wood. There was a lot to check. As her eyes flicked over Lucky an idea came to her mind. Maybe they could break it down!
Her eyes lit up and the idea and her wings started to flutter until she remembered they were supposed to be quiet. Knocking a tree down was most likely going to be very very loud. She glowered at the tree, unamused by the challenge it was proving to be then looked at lucky again. He was sniffing at it like he had done with her wings. Another idea came to her and she bounced closer to the tree.
She began pushing at the trunk with her muzzle looking for weak spots, or moving pieces that shouldn't move, anything really that could hide something valuable.

Glancing at Carmine out of the corner of his eye, he raised a curious brow. Wondering just exactly what she was doing. As he watched for a little bit longer it finally dauned on him.
His eyes traveled quickly back to the trunk of the tree. Raising a sharp little hoof, he jabbed it at the side of the tree. Though he had expected it to just be solid wood. Lucky's hoof apparently hit a nice soft spot and went right through the bark.
Grunting he tried to pull his hoof out as quietly as he could. What good would he be being stuck in a tree like this! "I think I found something..." He said quietly. "But--my hoof is stuck!"

Carmines eyes widened to the size of the moon itself. "Lucky you're amazing and I love you!" She cried forgetting to keep her voice down. She darted over to where her pal was standing stumbling a few times over the rotting roots. Once he was in her sights she surveyed the situation closely.
He had indeed found something. It looked like a nice soft hide-a-way hole where the tree had a hollow spot that had been covered by a bit of bark. "This is it Lucky." She said her voice going soft giving it a rather mysterious quality that she had inherited from her mother. Her excitement left her mind but still hovered around her body like a mist that anyone near by could feel.
Taking a few steps closer to the tree she leaned down and began to tap at the wood trapping her friend's hoof. Slowly she started to chisel away at the wood. She wanted to just break it but worried that it might hurt him so she would just have to be patient and would get to check inside the tree once her friend was free.

Blinking a few times, he shook his head. Loved him? What an odd thing for her to say. The only people who said that to him were his parents really. But he really payed no mind even thought to others it would of been a common statement or whatever. He just didn't quite understand all the words mysteries just yet.
His attention turned back to the whole his hoof was currently stuck in. Trying to pull it out once more with no success. Yea, he was lucky alright he supposed. Bad luck really. If someone came upon them after hearing Carmine's out cries he'd be in deep trouble being stuck like this. And then he could beat up the person if they were after Carmine.
As she chiseled away at the wood, he could feel his foot becoming looser as bits and pieces came away. Though he hoped Carmine wouldn't miss the wood and hit his leg! What use was a body guard with a lame leg? A few more pieces came away and he pulled hard. His hoof popping out of the hole and the force of his pull knocking him backwards onto his bottom. A look of surprise washing over his face. "Haha! I'm free!" He ducked his head and glanced around. Now he was the one who'd be attracting unwanted attention. Oh well, Carmine had done it first so tit-for-tat he supposed. Climbing to his feet, he took a few more steps towards the hole. Waiting for his friend to inspect it, and hoping that this mission had been a success. He'd hate to see her disappointed.

Her eyebrows shot up in surprise as her friend tumbled backwards. It had been a bit shocking when the wood had cracked a bit more from Lucky's doing and not her own but it was even more strange to find him on the ground. He seemed like he was as clumsy as she was right now and it nearly made her laugh. She clenched her jaws together to keep the sound in not wanting to risk any more out bursts. One loud noise could be excused but two were a good clue that something was going on.
Once Lucky was on his feet again she turned back to her work. He didn't seem hurt so there was no need to worry. She studied the wood closely then kicked it hard at the top. The wood caved in letting a small cloud of dirt and dust rise up into the air. Carmine's nosed twitched and she sneezed. She hated dust but it was something she was probably going to have to get used to. Most old things were covered in the stuff.
Taking a deep breath she poked her head into the hole that had been hidden behind the wood. The hole was small and rather dark but she could still see something glinting a few inches away from her face. "There's something in here Lucky." She whispered trying to be quiet but the echo from the secret compartment made it seem as though she were speaking quite normally. Her ears flicked back. It didn't seem there was anyway to be quite anymore.

Lucky circled around the tree a few times. Keeping a close eye on the surrounding tree line a bit warely. He was getting uneasy spending a lot of time in this area for some reason. Ears perked as she let out a sneeze and eyes scanned the shadows once more. Watching for any movement.
When she spoke of something actually being in the hole, he stopped his circling and walked back over to her. Grinning as she looked a bit silly with her face shoved into a hole. Lowering his own head to the ground, he tried to get a good look but alas her head was in the way. "What is it?" Now he was really curious as to what was in that hole. What kind of mysteries did it hold? Well, the only way to know would be if Carmine would get her head out of the way and they figured out how to get what it was inside, out.

"Dunno." She answered as she pulled her head out and straightened. "It's really shiny though." She looked at the hole with a thoughtful look on her face. If only her shoulders were a bit smaller...or the hole were a bit bigger. Her eyes lit up. "If the hole was a bit bigger..." Within a second she had her head back in the hole but this time she was examining the sides of the hole. They were quite a bit thicker then the wood that had hidden it. It would be trouble for her but...She pulled out again and smiled.
"Alright Lucky. Time to show me your stuff." She said with a grin. "I need this hole to be a bit bigger so I can fit further in and snatch up whatever's in the back." She didn't figure she could chip away at it like she had with the thin almost bark covering. She was strong too but tree's were tougher then she was even if they were hollow.

Shiny huh? Perhaps some jewelary, or some shiny stone! Only one way to find out.
"Alright! Leave it to me." Scurrying back a few paces, he turned around. Pawing at the ground with a sharp little hoof. "Might wanna get out of the way." Lowering his head, he eyed the hole. Green eyes staring at it intenstly as he focused on it. Tail wiggling back and forth as his rump went into the air.
In a split second he charged at the tree. Little hooves digging into the earth beneath him as he propelled himself forward. Wind wipping through his short little mane. But as soon as he drew close to the tree he stopped, stuck out a hoof and struck at the wood as hard as he could. Breaking away small bits at a time. But the hole had started to grow gradually larger after a few blows.

Carmine watched cheerfully from the side. He really was strong, really strong. As the hole expanded a huge grin spread over her face. They were moments away from being able to get at the treasure inside. Her wings started to flutter and she had to focus on keeping them still as she had started to kick up a small dust storm.
She couldn't take it anymore. the hole was big enough for her to get through if she flattened her wings and wiggled a bit. "Okay Lucky, move! I wanna get it!" She practically whined stepping close to nudge her partner out of the way.
What waited inside the hole? A shiny rock, a pretty gem, some jewelery that the two leggers wore? Whatever it was it was sure to be be pretty and valuable.

Lucky knickered lightly as he was practically shoved out of the way by the excited Carmine. He took a few prancing steps to the side as he watched her go and try to get whatever it was out of that hole.
Hopefully their work wouldn't go without reward.
Giving a little flick of his tail, he glanced around once more. Ears perked as he stood guard while Carmine's eyes were on the prize. Though he was still excited to see what they had found, he kept looking back a few times.

As she poked her head back into the hole she automatically felt the difference in space. Without a moments hesitation she sunk to the ground and pushed herself further into the hole. Her eyes adjusted to the darker place and quickly focused on the glint pressed against the back. She inched forward and opened her mouth. For a little while she was only able to catch leaves of small pebbles mixed with clumps of dirt then something with a distinctly unearthly taste brushed against her tongue. She clamped down on it and found that it was some form of thin rope or thick string.
"I gah hih!" She called scrambling back out of the the holding the rope firmly in her mouth. Once she was clear of the hole she stood up and set the object down. She stared at it for a while with a smile on her face.
It was a pretty polished quartz crystal with a thick string threaded through a hole in the top. She was impressed. It would have taken quite a long time to bore a hole through a crystal. "A fine treasure if I ever saw one." She proclaimed proudly her eyes still locked on the necklace.

Loweirng his head, Lucky proceeded to give the necklace she had lain on the ground a good look over. Squinting one eye shut as he moved in really really close. It was quite pretty indeed. But not anything that he might of worn. A bit too girly for his tastes.
"Its great! You should keep it. I'm sure it'd look better on you anyway." A wide grin spread across his face. This had been one exciting adventure for sure. And now Carmine had something to show for her theiving skills. They seemed to have worked as a pretty proficient team actually. Now he knew that if he did indeed stick around the filly, there'd be many more adventures to have.

She gave her friend a funny look. He acted like she hadn't planned on keeping it. She wasn't a mean person but when it came to her things there was nothing she would give up. Her father had given her a flower one day and had tried to get in back in a game. She had head-butted him in the chest and run off to hide the flower to keep it safe. Of course she was going to keep it.
She didn't voice any of this, however, and chose to silently slip the rope around her neck instead. She couldn't see how it looked around her neck but she imagined it must have been something special. "So...s'it look better Lucky?" She asked puffing out her chest proudly hoping to make the quartz stone look better.

He pondered over the funny look she had given him. Had he said something weird again? Well, he had figured since it was found now she was going to keep it. Perhaps he just felt the need to say something. Either way.
Squinting an eye, he peered at the stone around her neck before nodding affirmatively. "Looks lots better! I don't think theres anything else worthy enough to be around you neck, boss!" Maybe one day when Lucky was older he'd get himself a necklace of some sort. Though he knew he wouldn't probably find anything like this, but it didn't matter to him. Carmine liked it, so this little heist seemed to be a success. Who would want to search for something that wasn't worth the effort?
