Oh my god, you just gave me a heart attack! Whatr if their seriously was a really rare book or piece of art down there? I can't even imagine losing my books. LOSING AN ENTIRE LIBRARY!!!! :GONK: t_t If I thought the whole, must sell your books if you file for bankruptcy thing was bad, I was wrong because this is a blessing compared to all the art (and lives) that were lost thanks to that darn hurricane. Anuik ..man. 85 books! That's half my library! *stares in horror at her library, imagining what it would be like to lose it all*
BUT, I've been thinking about this. I mean, everybody talks about people losing houses and schools and junk, which is usually first priority anyway, but.. What kinds of museums and libraries were demolished? What kinds of rare books are destroyed? 85 books is a tragedy, but.. A whole library? Or worse, an art museum? I shudder to imagine! *faint*

I had a penpal who also loved to read that got hit by Katrina. She lost a lot of her books too. When I heard from her I asked what her favorite two books were and I bought them and sent them to her. I've also donated a couple books to other people like that. I have nightmares about loosing my books. I couldn't imagine how hard someone in that situation must feel..

WinglessFairy WAAAHHH!!!! hurricane Katrina flooded my dad''s house!!!!! I LOST ABOUT 85 BOOKS!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! there was 3.5 feet of water in the house! all my books! soaked!!!! WAAAAHHH!!!! I have sympathy for you. My grandfather's books (that I even read) were destroyed. He had first editions of a bunch of books. He gave all of them to my aunt a couple years ago, but she lived in an area where it floods easy and got direct path of it too...

Aw. How depressing! I had a couple boxes of old childrens books in my basement get ruined during a flood. That made me quite sad, so I can't even imagine how depressed you must be!

that's so sad! sad crying I wish it will never happen again, to anyone! It's horrible to lose that many books! I don't even own that much.

Oh god, you poor thing! I hope that everything else is okay too? Even if the books are the most important part.... Like Fujin, I have a ton of nightmares about losing my books, mostly to fires or tornados. Do I save myself, or my precious literature? crying

Dr.Speth This is the first person I actually feel sorry for that got hit by Katrina. ....Im sorry to hear that. Dr Speth>....But other people lost books too...
