This is horrible...it so dirty, blood everywhere...I think I am going to be sic--[i/] Jack was deep into thought when he was hit by the car. Before he could even comprehend what had happened he was in the air. "SH*T!"
He saw his feet flying through the air, then he saw the ground before he hit it. He landed on his side and managed not to hurt himself too badly. He would have a bruise the size of a watermellon on his stomach, but that was the least of his worries. Jack had landed in a pool of blood. His synapsis flared and he imediately began to freak out. "Dear god! It's everywhere!" He got up and ripped of his sport coat. "BloodbloodBlood" He began repeating it over and over again. He could see it in his mind. The way blood got deep under your fingernails and embeded itself in the weaves of your clothing. It made him physicaly ill. He took out a pill from his shirt pocket and popped it in his mouth. "Ok...I am good. Everything is fine." Jack spoke to himself. He then walked to the car and tapped on the window. He could see a few people. A pretty girl, a sick girl, and some guy who had hair in his eyes. "I am sorry, but can I have a ride?"

F.Y.I--planes are flying lower to the ground, and they dont look like the normal planes. Almost look militaristic.

She wasn't sure exactly what was more shocking; the fact that she had just hit a guy with her Highlander, or the fact that said guy had jumped up afterwards, torn off his coat like it was covered in battery acid or that he had come up to the car, his method of near death, to ask for a ride. Still, she wasn't exactly about to turn anyone away. She wasn't about to turn away anyone that she could help.

She looked him over, tossing her black braid over her shoulder and unclicking the door lock. "I don't see why not, I'm pretty sure we're going the same way." Though more and more, that way seemed to be straight to hell in a handbasket. Big handbasket apparently.

The roar of planes overhead caught her attention, and she leaned out the window glancing up, shielding her gray-blue eyes from the sun as she watched them flying in towards the center of the town. Hmm. That couldn't be good. Standard protocol for areas of biological infection, especially when it was of the nature that this was looking like, was containment and erradication.

"Get in the car now. We're not hanging around here any longer." She snapped, closing the windows and locking the door back, turning to Gabriel. "Check him out for bites or wounds. First aid kit in the back if it's a cut or scrape..." she pulled her second Taurus out of the other holster and handed it to him. "...and that's for if it's a bite." She glanced over at Tabby a moment, then turned her attention back to the road. Hypocritical, maybe. But a four year old strapped in to a car seat in the front of the car was a whole lot less of a danger than a grown man unrestrained if they turned. Besides, if it came down to it, if she had to kill Tabby, it would be her that did it. Her and her alone that would bear that sin on her soul.

The priest was going to LOVE this confession...

Gabriel blinked as they . . . oh dear, Ash hit someone on a bike. Zombies didn't ride bikes so it had to be a person. He watched, silently, as the man went through his panic, feeling somewhat better about his own breakdown. The guy looked vaguely familiar, but Gabriel couldn't think too much about it.

He was quiet and let Ash handle things. She seemed to be the boss at this point and she had the guns so he wasn't about to argue. And she seemed less likely to panic than either him or the newcomer.

He blinked, startled when she handed him the gun. It was heavier than he ever imagined. His eyes grew wide as he stared at the heavy metal thing in his hands, and glanced back up at her. She wanted him to . . . to . . .

"I . . . I don't even know how to shoot one of these." He said, pointing it at the roof of the jeep, away from everything. "I mean, is the safety on? I don't even know what a safety is . . . " He gulped, worriedly, glancing at her, embarrassed. "I . . . I shot a BB gun when I was a kid but . . . " He knit his brows watching the man coming, hoping he didn't have to use the gun. He didn't think he'd be able to. Then again the prospect of being eaten alive was likely to make him more motivated. Still . . . the thing was heavy, and frightening.

She ended up in the basement, without really knowing how she got there.

Rose closed her eyes, leaning against the wall and tried to think. Words like Undead and Zombie floated through her mind, and she couldn't really think of any other words, words that were scientific. Rational. Things that could happen in the real world.

The officer had his throat torn. It wasn't bleeding. Therefore there wasn't enough blood *to* drip out, and he should have been very still and silent. But he was pounding on the door. The others had stared through her with eyes that were empty and dead, some of them trailing their insides.

This couldn't happen. It couldn't happen. It wasn't logical. It was . . .

She took a few shuddering breaths. It *was* happening and she had to deal with it if she wanted to live.

The first thing she needed was a weapon, and she knew where to go. She'd spent some time in the boiler room, occasionally. She'd become friends with the chief of maintenance and often brought down coffee and cookies, things like that. She remembered pipe wrenches and other tools. Things they kept the patients well away from. No one wanted a psych patient running around with a two-foot long metal wrench . . . and that was exactly why she needed one. Heavy, metal, a little reach . . . it wasn't a gun but it would do. For now the things were contained, but . . .

She made her way through the basement corridors until she got to the hot, noisy boiler room. It was quiet this time of night. She hoped Baker was off that night.

She found what she was looking for in the main room, with the workbenches and metal bits lying around. The pipe wrench was heavy, but she could swing it without tiring herself out. As an afterthought she grabbed up a smaller one for speed, taking a toolbelt off the wall and fastening it over her hips, hanging the backup weapon on it, and taking a few other items she thought she might need, a flashlight, batteries, some rope, and the extra ring of keys.

Her plan was to go up to her unit, tell everyone what was going on, then get in her car and leave. It was too quiet outside. Too eerie, too . . . wrong. She turned to leave, when she saw movement in the room. She took two steps toward the maintenance man, intending to explain her theft, when she realized he wasn't alive anymore, his eyes empty, his body torn as though something had tried to . . . to eat him.

She screamed, stumbling backward, as it took notice of her and shambled for her, with a horrifying groan. She didn't think, she just acted, the pipe wrench seeming to swing on its own. The first pass destroyed his face, and he kept coming. The second knocked him down. The third and fourth kept him there.

She panted, shuddering and trembling, her eyes full of tears. It was hell. Hell on earth.

And it was loose on the grounds. It wasn't contained at all . . .

Jack got in the car and cringed when he saw the little girl. "Whats wrong with her?" He then turned his attention to the boy when he said he didn't now how to shoot a gun. "Guns? I don't like guns. They shoot gunpowder into the air and that it gets all over everything." Jack pulled out his crossbow. "I use this, here, check me for bites, if you find one squeese this trigger." Jack first gave the guy a bottle of sanitiser. "But I am not going to let you touch it until you use this."

Ash glanced back into the back seat at the two men and shook her head. Between the two of them, she was fairly sure that she would have much rather had Tabby at her back. Ahh well. One couldn't pick their rescuees. Beggars couldn't be choosers and the fact that neither of them had been made into zombie chow so far spoke of either their luck or their skill and both could be useful in such a situation. Still, the hand sanitizer was just ridiculous.

"I hope that you are completely aware that if any of those things out there bit you, that hand sanitizer wouldn't do anything at all. Now, you don't want to use a gun and that's fine. I certainly hope that you are not too squeamish to go pull your bolts out of the bodies of the ones that you hit them, as crossbows are a lot harder to find ammunition for than guns." She glanced over at Gabriel and raised her eyebrow. "That's a custom .454 Taurus Raging Bull. That thing will drop an elephant in one shot. Of COURSE I don't have a safety on it. Treat it with care. Treat it with respect. Or you aren't going to be able to do much at all. When we get to the police department, we'll get something much more suitable for you. A nice nine mil maybe. That should be small and safe enough for you."

She glanced over at Tabby, tucking the little girl's blanket around her more securely and opening a packet of Goldfish for her. "Here love. Eat up and drink your juice, there's a good love. We'll get someone to look at that after we resupply, all right? Just be quiet and still and relax, hmm?" She smiled at the little girl and stroked her hair, trying to think of some way that she could save Tabby. Well, nothing was created without something being made to counter it. If this was a man made plague, something was made as an antidote.

And may God have mercy on the poor soul that Ash decided to beat that information out of, for Ash would have none.

Gabriel blinked at the guy, staring at the crossbow. "I . . . have even less idea how to use that." He said, a bit embarrassed, and looked at the gun he was holding worriedly. Who *was* this woman? This thing was a hand-cannon, and she was perfectly comfortable with it, while he was scared to death of it.

And the hand sanitizer bit . . . He arched an eyebrow, but humored the guy, and picked the gun back up. "I'll . . . I'll just stick with the gun I guess. Lemme see if you're hurt anywhere and let's just . . . try to get the hell out of here, huh?"

He made no move to touch the guy, but treated the gun gingerly, holding the heavy thing in both hands, pointed vaguely at the roof of the car.

And what was up with the air traffic? Things were getting nuts.

Ash was a bit angry at the girl, he didn't like people talking about his crossbow like she did. " We are not fighting elephants here, we are fighting disgusting, rotting, dead bodies." Jack shutters at the thought. "Your "Hand cannon" as you call it may be shiny and loud, But I am the only one in the car currently who can kill a zombie without alerting everyone, alive or dead, within five miles. And the sanitizer isn't for the infection, I have a bit of a germ problem." Jack then turned his attention to the person next to him. " I was not bit, and please be carefull with that thing." He didn't like that this guy had no experience with guns, and he liked it even less that he had been given a gun without a safety on it.
Jack was contemplating this when he saw the girl in the front seat. "You shouldn't have her in the front seat, it says right there on the flap that it's dangerous." He moved up to inspect the seat when he noticed that the girl was very very pale. "Wait, have you checked her for bites?" He looked at the driver with a shocked expression on his face. If he was stuck in this car with a sick person, he didn't know what he would do. His limits were almost met when he landed in the blood.

(sorry i haven't posted in a while. I'll try to post more often)

Ilsa ran to the bathroom as soon as the door was opened.

“Cassandra, can you bring me the first aid kit please” Ilsa said

The raven haired teenager quickly went to the kitchen cabinet and got the red ammo box. She brought it to Ilsa who was sitting in the bathtub.

Ilsa said through gritted teeth “ Cass, hand me the prioxide.”

Ilsa quickly unwrapped her arm and poured the whole bottle on the torn flesh.

“ Dam! Dam!! Dam It!!!” Ilsa screamed as Cass handed her a pressure bandage and a bag of Quick-clot.

“That looks bad Ilsa we need to get you to a doctor Casandra whispered.

“No Doctors we need to get out of town before the military sets up a quartine to contain the outbreak. Cass take your brother and go to your house anything you need or want get it and bring it over here.”Ilsa said as she got out the tub and walked to her bedroom .
She opened the door to her closet and looked at her gun safe
Old habits are hard to break Ilsa thought as she punched in the combination.
The gun safe contain three items. The black Remington 12 gage glinted the the hall light as Ilsa loaded it. Cass eyes lit up when Ilsa handed it to her.

Cass said “Ya I get my Boom stick”

“Its loaded so be careful.” Ilsa said as she grabbed the crossbow and the sling shot out of the safe

Sam eyes went wide as Ilsa and Cass walked Ilsa tossed the crossbow to Tommy.

“The arrows are under the couch.” Ilsa said as she handed the slingshot to Stevie.

“Cass you guys be careful and hurry. We have to get going soon ” Ilsa said as the two teens started toward the door.

It took the two teens ten minutes to get the families prize possessions. Ilsa packed the six bags of clothing into the red Jeep along with enough food and water to last them a few weeks. She called Rex over to the car and put him in the back with the the luggage and looked at the kids and there mom.

“Sam you can drive the Jeep and I'll fallow on my bike.” Ilsa said as she looked up and saw the plane flying overhead. “We need to get moving now Sam keep to the side roads and avoid the main roads OK?”
Sam just nodded as she climbed into the drivers seat and the kids scrambled into the car. Ilsa could shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen.

The Highlander screeched to a halt as Ash turned in her seat, her expression icy and her voice even more so as she spoke very clearly and calmly, enunciating every word.

"I believe that this is an ideal time to lay down a few rules of the road, so to speak. Firstly, you don't question me. Ever. At all. Secondly, refer to rule number one. Thirdly, anything that concerns Tabby does NOT concern you. And if you have a problem with these rules, you can get out of this car right now and take your own chances. Your crossbow might be good, but the reload time is insane. If you're surrounded, I guarantee you'll be an evening snack before you can fire that thing three times. Now, I can keep you alive. I can even get you out of here. I grew up in Tel Aviv for Christ sake, trust me, this is your typical Thursday evening. So if you don't mind, sit down, shut up and do as I say. Clear? Otherwise, I can let you out of this car right now with a perfectly clear conscience."

She waited for the man's response, her gaze unwavering on his face as she let him think it over and speak his piece. She was not going to risk her life saving people that weren't going to listen to what she had to say.

Jack sudenly turned as pale as Tabby. He had heard everything she had said, but he was still stuck on the fact that that girl was most likely infected. He could feel a tingling in his hands as he imagined the germs crawling up his hands and under his fingernails. He quickly banished the thought out of his head and spoke. "Ok, I will listen to whatever you have to say, just get us to wherever we are going and get us there fast. I don't know how long my medication will last." Jack spoke slowly and urgently, he was trying to tell this girl without telling her that he could not stay in the car long with an infected person. Even if it was a little girl strapped in a seat.

Gabriel barely dared move or breathe. She wasn't addressing him, but he felt the need to squeak a little "Yes, Ma'am." at the end of her speech, and fell silent as he watched the two of them hash it out.

He'd already figured the girl was infected, but he wasn't saying a word. Ash seemed to know what she was doing. His only worry was if the kid turned and took a chunk out of Ash . . . well he wasn't so sure he could make it on his own. Or do what he would need to do. But if she was from Tel Aviv . . . well she knew what the hell she was doing and he wasn't about to argue. He looked, silently, over at the other man, and then down at the big chunk of deadly metal in his lap, and didn't say a damn word. Ash scared him, but she scared him far less than the undead horrors outside the jeep. But she could keep him alive. She said so. And it was his best bet.

Maria halted her truck and watched in awe as the planes flew over head. Oh yeah, military...wait...not quiet, perhaps they are a private line, but they fly so low. Maria shook her head, she didnt like this one bit, but then again, once she made it home she was going to be ok. Maria creeped down the road and watched in amazement as some strange man did...a dance after being hit by a car. She exhaled turning on her high beams to grab the cars attention. Apparently living things were in that particular mode of transportation, and if any happened to be infected, well what a golden opportunity to do research. She inched her truck foward towards them, making a game of running over zombies. If they walked away they were worth ten points, if they lost a limb, 20 points, and if they ended in a bloody mess, well that was worth 30 points. She didnt get out very often, and well, even if her test subjects happened to falter, she was sure that more people will be turning and that there was no shortage of test subjects.
