MacCloud unrolled it. It was dingy and damp. Being in a well hadn't been the best idea. It had water stains on it so that it wasn't fully readable. "Aye, it is a map. See the X marks the spot." He showed it to Jenna with a smile. It lead somewhere, but he wasnt' sure where.

Jenna's eyes widened and sparkled as she read the map. She didn't know where it would lead, or what they might find, or if they would find anything at all, but the idea of it still excited her. She grinned at MacCloud.
"Well, let's go then! Do you think you know how to get to the X marks the spot?"

MacCloud looked at his map and then back to Jenna. "Oh, aye I do. See this?" He poined to the what he believed to be the start of the map. "This is the well where we are. So, then we must follow this." Next he pointed to some dashes. "Looks like we need to head east 30 paces!"

"Oh! Ok!" She smiled and began to walk to the east. She stayed close to MacCloud, every so often peeking at the map he held in his hands, her excitement building with every step she took. She began to count as she walked.
"One...two....three...," until she was to thirty. Then she stopped.
"Now what?"

MacCloud stopped where Jenna did. "Okay, now we look for a rock called 'Smilling Rock'" MacCloud then back to look around for this rock. Where could it be? It had to be somewhere near them as that's where the map said to stop.

"Hmm...'Smiling Rock'?" Jenna looked around, trying to find what he was talking about. She glanced at the map, which showed some trees, and a big rock. It should be close to where they were standing. She then noticed some tall trees not far to the right. Then she noticed it. Behind a branch, almost completely concealed by it, was a big rock. The rock had a deep crevasse in it which made it look like it was smiling. It was such an odd place for a rock to be, she thought.
"Over there!" she said excitedly, pointing to it. "Is that it?"

McCloud smiled. "Aye, lassie you got it." He walked over to it and brushed the branches out of the way with his front paws. He had the map in his mouth.
He then took the map out to read again. "Okay, now it says to go 20 paces south south east. There we will see a large looks like a..." MacCloud was stumped as water and slight washed the symbol away.

"Hmmm..." Jenna looked at the map too, trying to decipher the symbol. She wasn't having any more luck than he was.
"Well, what do you say we take 20 paces south east, and try to figure it out when we get there. Maybe it will be something obvious."

"Aye, I see you're point. Very good idea lass. I'm sure it will be clean when we get there!" MacCloud smiled and put the map back into his mouth. The male began to walk the 20 paces south east like it said.

Jenna walked beside him, 20 paces just like it said. His strides were much greater than hers, but she managed to keep up, taking big steps.
When they arrived, they stopped again. Jenna looked around, wondering what it was that she was looking for. The map wouldn't help in the slightest, but she still felt the need to look at it.
"Shall we try again to read it?" she asked him.

"Oh, aye. Maybe the smuge will look like something." MacCloud said after taking it out of his mouth. He looked around to the point where they were. It was an odd big shape and the words had at least a B and a l. "Anything?"

Jenna strained her eyes to try to read the words.
"Biii...Birr? Ebbiiyy...uh. Hm." She looked around again. There were some trees, and some bushes. She noticed one bush in particular. It was shaped very oddly, but she couldn't figure out what it was. She looked at the words again, and this time, she had an idea.
"Bird! It says bird! See that bush, it's shaped like a bird, don't you think?" She pointed to the bush. She hoped she wasn't way off. Did it even look like a bird? She wasn't even sure.

MacCloud looked to where Jenna was pointing. She was right it did look like a bird. He then looked back at the map. Again, it did look something like a splotchy bird.
"Aye, I think you have it. Next go 25 paces north and look for the Cave." He read it outloud.

"Wow, a cave! Do you think that's where the treasure will be?"
Her mind wandered through all the possibilities as she gracefully took 25 long paces to the North. When she arrived, she waited for instructions from her trusty map reader.

"Aye and no. I think there will be things to go through once we go inside!" MacCloud chuckled as he then took his paces. The map didn't stop at the cave it went on inside of it.
Once at 25 he stopped. "Look there is our cave." He looked at the map. "We need to go inside until we see to different cave doors. It says here to take the left." MacCloud slowly went inside.
