"All businesses so far. Three machinery specialists, a general store, and a fabric shop. Nothing unique or traceable stolen, just money and common parts. Whoever this person was, they knew exactly what they were doing."

After accidentally igniting the experimental steam booster in the back of his bike (one of the olden ones with the large back wheels), James came to a screeching halt outside the Tea-House. He gripped his top hat, in hopes that it wouldn't fall off. He parked his bike nearby and went inside the building. He stared at the hooks, giving them a stern look. He looked around nervously, twitching in the left eye and neck. He placed his top hat and large brown overcoat on the rack and sighed. He adjusted the coat, so the inside wouldn't be seen. After ordering a cup of tea, he moved into the room with all the tables and took a seat at a vacant table. He looked around, scanning to see who all was still remaining in the room as his left eye began to convulse and twitch once more, out of nervous habit thanks to his tourette syndrome. He let out a long, discomforted sigh as he took a sip of his tea and placed it back onto the small saucer.

Myles drinks some of his own tea, not sparing the newcomer more than a glance as he is a little preoccupied with his own thoughts.

[ OOC : I beg your pardons for interrupting the flow of your role-play, but I had to pop in to say that Mylian's link took my breath away. Listening to that rendition of While My Guitar Gently Weeps was absolutely magical. Thank you kindly, sir, for sharing something so beautiful! ]

(( I know. It's been on my favorites list for a very long time, and never fails to stir me. Jake is one of my heroes. 3nodding ))

((Hoping no one minds my jumping in?))

Moving towards the tea house Zephyte turned to look and make sure he had everything with him. Bag, check. Knives, check. With a quick nod of determination he pushed the door open, closing his eyes as the welcome scent of tea washed over him.

Walking into the back room where everyone was he sat his things down on one of the chairs, removing his mask and scarf. Turning to the others, "So, is any of you the proprietor of this fine establishment? I seek employment if that would be possible?"

(( The thread is currently defunct. I'm sure nobody would mind if you just took the place over. If the original owner decides to step back at some point in time I'm sure you can work something out. xd ))

((Well, I believe I shall. Reboot!))

Zephyte found himself again waking to the sun's beams on his face. He had been staying and watching over the tea house while it's owner was away. As he looked down at the notebook that had been his pillow he remembered today's task.

Rising from the couch he made his way behind the front counter, setting upon it a stack of fliers and menus. With a sigh of relief he went to the door and flipped the sign to read 'open' and proceeded to go and prepare the kitchen for the days work. Hopefully someone would come today...

((The fliers read "'The Brass Cog Tea House: Currently under new management! Now serving the foods of the world! Followed by a brief sample of the menu."))

(Yay! I had forgotten this thread existed.... XD )

Lenore stood across the street and watched the stranger fix the fliers in the window. Sure, she had been gone for a while, called away suddenly (Oh, tarnation, she thought to herself. I never got to ask Mr. Million what I wanted to. And I wonder if he's heard any more information about those robberies, if they're even still going on... ), but to come back and find this? New management, and someone new working there? She sighed, and wandered over to meet the new person. Just when she was beginning to feel at home there, too...

Oh well, there was no reason it still couldn't feel like home, new management or not! With that thought, she smiled and walked through the door. Maybe Miss Tara could even talk to the new manager for her, and see if there wasn't a job avaliable. Writing was fun and all, but having to lock yourself away in a cabin to get a story finished on time was no way to spend a life; interacting with people was much more satisfying. And if she managed to get some new inspiration on the way.... so be it.

Unfortunately, she must have just missed the new proprietor, as there was no sign of him. Likewise, there was no sign of Miss Tara at all, or anyone else. Sighing, she sat at the nearest table and opened a book. Someone had to show up again sometime, right?

((Ah! Glad to finally see someone!))

Hearing movement in the main room Zephyte poked his head out from the kitchen. "Ah, 'ello miss." He said with a smile walking up to the counter. :Glad to see some new faces. I'm a bit new in town you see, but, moving right along. Can I get you anything?"

"Ah!" Lenore jumped slightly, then laughs. "Oh, hello there!" She turned in her chair to get a better look at the man, then thought better of that and walked over to the counter as well. Grinning, she pretended to think it over. "Hmmmmm.... a cup of tea, I suppose. Cinnamon, especially, if you have it; if not, a nice mint blend'll be spiffy. And maybe a pastry of some sort, that'll make a nice breakfast, don't you agree? Unless you recommend something else, that is! I haven't heard of most of the things on your menu, I'm sad to say..."

She trailed off, and glanced around the shop, only to burst out laughing. "It's a bit odd seeing this place under new management, no offense meant with that. I... err... well, to be honest, I'm just back in town myself, and it's a bit of a shock. I guess when you leave something, you don't entirely expect it to have changed when you come back. Even though, I guess in a floating city people coming and going quite often and often quite suddenly shouldn't entirely be a shock. How long have you been here, anyway?" She flashes a smile at him. "But in any case, you've picked a lovely place to settle in."
PostPosted: Sat Nov 29, 2008 8:25 am

"Aye, that'll be a fine breakfast indeed. I'll get your tea prepared right away." He said as he turned to begin making the tea. "I haven't been here long but when I came to the tea house I had found it mostly abandoned. I really hope the former owner won't mind if they happen to return.

"Hmm... Pastries, what would you prefer? Apple always goes well with cinnamon. Oh, and if it wouldn't be too much to ask, what has kept you from the city?"

"Oh, something with apples in it sounds delicious! And I'm sure Miss Tara wouldn't mind at all. Well, hopefully at least." Lenore pauses, thinking. "Granted, I'm not sure if she said she was the owner, or just working here... or if she even mentioned it either way. But, either way, I'm sure she wouldn't mind at all. To be honest, I can't imagine any shopkeeper who would berate a person for keeping his shop in order and looked after, especially if they went and left it open like they did here." Laughing, she studied the man. "Err... they did leave it open, right?" He didn't look like the type to break into a place of business, though, especially in order to run a tea shop...

Continuing right along in the same breath, though: "And of course it wouldn't be too much to ask that! But it's a long story..." She made a face. "But, an extremely shortened form of it could be merely 'editor issues,' I suppose."

"Here's your tea." Zephyte said as he sat the cup on the counter a small stick of cinnamon protruding from the top of the cup. "The pastries should be coming out of the oven any minute... *A small ding comes from the back* Now" He said scurrying off to the back and grabbing an apple pastry. "Careful, still hot." he said placing it on the with her tea and sprinkling a pinch of ground cinnamon on the top of it.

"Editor issues? So... your a writer then? Oh, and yes, of course the door was open when I arrived. I stopped in for tea and to ask for a job but there was nay a soul here." He continued as he pulled a stool up behind the counter and sat down to talk with his customer.

Sitting down, too, she beams happily. "Thank you very much!" She swirled the cinnamon stick in the tea and giggled as he scurried into the back. "And that looks wonderful! But it's probably best to let it cool a bit, what a shame." She sighed, half dramatically, half in earnest.

"Er... and yes, I'm a writer. Well, was one, at least. Well, no, wait, I suppose I still am, no one can stop me from writing, right? Right! Except I'm not too sure about the professional aspect of it, now. Might not be able to call myself that anymore." She took a sip of the tea, and pondered that for a moment. Laughing to cover her confusion, she continued. "Sorry if that's a bit confusing, the whole thing's made me almost half-mad from just trying to figure it out, so it gets a little jumbled when I try to explain it. This is excellent tea, by the way! And what a lucky break, then, with the shop! Did you used to work in another place like this, before coming here?"

(... too many exclamation points... methinks Lenore's a bit too happy in the morning... *grumpy morning person* XD )
