Samantha frowned, completely confused and bewildered by the male fox's response. "Artemis...I don't understand. Is something wrong? I...I didn't mean it in a bad way. Really." What had she done? What had she said this time?

It hurt, almost physically, to think she'd hurt her friend's feelings. Without hesitating, she reached out and pulled Artemis into a hug, her words tumbling out as she tried to explain herself. "Please, Artemis, tell me what's wrong! I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. If I did, I'm very sorry...please forgive me. It's just...I'm not used to this sort of treatment. I mean...you really are sweet, I mean that. I'm just not used to receiving such compliments all the time. I'm not sure I deserve it. I've never been treated so...so special before." She was blushing again, this time embarrassed at admitting such private, personal thoughts; thoughts she'd never shared with anyone else before.

Still hugging her friend tightly, Samantha continued muttering, "I'm sorry if I hurt you, Artemis. I never meant to and I'm so very, very sorry..."

Samantha blinked, an odd look on her face as she absent-mindedly rubbed Artemis' back as a soothing gesture. "I...have no idea," she chuckled, still hugging the other fox. "If you were, what kind of candy would you be?"

She had no idea what she was asking now, as long as it made Artemis feel better. He really was a sensitive guy, as well as sweet, once one got past the hyper, silly exterior.

Smiling, the Ninetales reached up and scratched one of Artemis' ears momentarily. "That sounds good. But me? Hmm...let's see... Chocolate is always good....especially white chocolate. Though, I also like things like Skittles and Starbursts....chewy fruit-flavored candies. So, maybe something like that?" The conversation had taken a strange, amusing turn, but Samantha didn't mind...she only leaned her head against the other fox's with a smile.

Samantha couldn't help but smirk to herself. Well, that seemed to be a more common reaction than she'd even initially thought. She'd done so without really thinking, knowing somewhere in the back of her mind that it had always relaxed her when she was upset about something.

She'd just wanted to help Artemis relax a bit and apparently, it had worked. As it were, she kept scratching with a smile, gently directing Artemis to rest against her as she did so.

"As I said," she nodded. "Glad you agree though. I had some of these white chocolate truffle candies once that Tei got for me...I'll have to get some more so you can try them too. They're wonderful!"

A strange warmth flooded Samantha's chest as she smiled once more at the male fox. Well, if she was going to be sitting like this for a while, might as well get comfortable.

"Hold on just a moment, 'k?" She muttered, shifting position a bit. After moving to lean back against the wall, she gently directed Artemis to move closer to her. "Come here, hon," she invited with a warm smile, opening her arms wide.

She chuckled, shaking her head slightly. "Probably comes with being a Ninetales and all," she murmured, automatically beginning to stroke his hair and scratch his ears lightly. "The warm part at least. Dunno about the comfy part," she smirked.

Leaning back against the wall with a soft sigh of contentment, Samantha was surprised to note that despite her typical personal space issues, she actually didn't mind Artemis' close presence. Odd. And yet...not so odd. That in itself was weird...oh well. She really didn't care enough to dwell on the matter right now. She was content to simply sit quietly and enjoy the moment, a thoughtful smile on her face.

Raising one eyebrow in amusement, Samantha chuckled. I'm a pillow now? Shrugging a bit to herself, she decided to go with it for now. "Just try to refrain from fluffing me and we'll be good." Her eyes sparkled with mischief, knowing all too well how wrongly that might have been taken by less innocent company.

She continued scratching one of Artemis' ears, noting how much he seemed to like it, still smiling thoughtfully to herself.

Samantha had to struggle to hold back a snort of laughter, giving into a light chuckled in its stead. She was having trouble keeping her own thoughts innocent at this rate, at least in the sense that she kept wanting to break down laughing for no apparent reason. She wasn't ready to explain that to Artemis if he didn't get it already.

Instead, seemingly without a thought, she leaned down and muttered, "You're so sweet and adorable, Artemis." Then, smiling gently, she kissed his forehead...pausing and blushing belatedly as she realized what she'd just done.
