Xyn glanced in Shisei's direction for only a moment. Maya wasn't near him. He decided he had no other business with the boy as long as he stayed away from her. He'd still need to find out Shisei's motives, but that could wait for another time. Xyn was about to open the Kohon to a random page and walk off, but saw more people coming, amongst them was... Shinichi? He realized he had walked into a bad situation. He couldn't just walk away with that man watching him. He tucked the Kohon back into his cloak with his right hand, the other hand brushing a small strand of hair away from his face while he adjusted his eyepatch.

What now... the thought wasn't fully formed before Shinichi finished explaining. A sport involving mind games...? Xyn wasn't normally good at mind games, but he preferred something more direct. Using your mind to kick a ball didn't seem like something plausible, but he didn't feel he was in a position to object. If he was going to engage in physical activity...

Munin felt a tap on his head. It was still early, wasn't it? Why would Xyn be waking him up. He started to yawn, then snapped his beak closed as he tried to stretch his wings. The cloak soon opened to the light of day and the raven worked his way from his cozy position out into the cold air. He was understandably not happy about not only being woken up, but having to go out in this cold weather after being kept in Xyn's warm clothing. Despite being upset, Munin had no choice but to stay close to Xyn's body heat, flying up to his shoulder and crouching as close to his neck as possible.

"I might move around a lot..."

Normally Munin couldn't figure out what the boy was saying, but the message somehow came through clearly. The raven looked around for a better place to take a nap... but where was there somewhere warm enough? He decided to simply find the best vantage point and watch Xyn until he finished.

Maya and Baki slunk into the grounds, Maya's body hunched as she stayed moderately close to the dirt beneath her feet, almost hiding behind Baki. Spotting Shinichi again, she listened, wondering just who to pick for her opponent...and she decided very easily that maybe Shisei would like to ... play. She didn't dare go against Xyn - not because she was scared of him, but because she didn't want to beat him - or lose to him. And Shisei would be fun anyway - he was smart enough that he would probably trick her into thinking whatever he said was true. Ah, well, but it would be a fun competition regardless. Maya lifted her eyes to Shinichi, then looked down at Baki, the question obvious:

'Can Baki play?'

And then, obviously...

"Shisei...let's play."

Serena trailed in behind Shinichi and positioned herself by a tree, where she could see him clearly when he spoke. While they were waiting for everyone to arrive, she noticed someone familiar nearby. "XYN! I've been wondering where you've been the past few days!" She directed her attention towards him for a moment with a wave and then started looking around again. It was still a bit cold..her clothes hadn't dried off yet. Kind of a stupid thought to actually jump off a cliff into water during the winter. Maybe this next excercise would warm everyone up a bit. The Raiken turned to see Shisei on the other side, along with one of those older Genin and that academy student with the short green hair. Maya and her lion--she didn't know his name--joined them as well. Serena needed a partner for this round, too. The question was, who would it be?
PostPosted: Sat Mar 14, 2009 9:22 pm

“Yep. Yep! I know most of the shortcuts in this area, Kane-kun. Truly do. Only the rest of my mates know them as well. Maybe one day I’ll teach them to ya.” Brassa stated with a smile. He rose from the ground as his eyes caught a view of multiple people upside down approaching. The first to see was the man that saved his life yesterday. Shisei had already moved on to where his mind led him so the homeless child decided to take his chance and thank the shinobi that saved him and his band. “Gee Mister Kage-san. Didn’t think I’d ever get to see you, but this is our second encounter. That it is. I won’t take much of your time, but just saying thanks for saving our lives yesterday.” The boy stated with a small bow. Knowing that Sevvi would probably never apologize and Fay maybe too scared to approach the scary looking jounin so freckles would be the spokesperson for the band.

Ignoring Kane’s first statement Shisei answered the second concerning the sleeping demon gnome out to the side. “That thing over there could hardly be called a boy, much less a girl. Tanu-kun is just a slacker. Pay him no attention.” the serpent stated as his eyes turned to the flame headed shinobi who was approaching. The man declared that there would be a switch in partners this round.“Just when it would have been better to stay with Kane-sempai this round… Maybe I should team with the Raiken girl. Serena doesn’t look like she has a lot of power to kick the ball forcefully.” The decision would have been made till Maya arrived on the scene.

With Xyn in play this may not bode well. It would be better to analyze them if the two teamed together, but it could be even better if he could scan one of them individually. The chance may not arrive again depending on the situation. Shisei could team with the crow, but there was still too many unknowns about him. The amazoness he knew, although the immense power that she packed in each muscle would make the exercise a punishment chore rather than a game if the ball hit him. There was also the possibility that he could regain favor in her eyes to by doing this. He could be also risking a lifelong impairment to one of his limbs or senses. Well death was always something that interested him anyways.

“Excuse me Kane-sempai. Why don’t you team up with Xyn.” the serpent stated and walked away from the older student. His feet stopped a yard away from the lioness. Yet it seemed she had the same idea in mind. Her tongue was first to ask the serpent youth to play. The dread head quickly wondered what Xyn would think about this alliance. He’d have to try and scan mono eye’s reaction if he got the chance. “It will be my pleasure, Maya-sempai. Ladies first.” Shisei said getting ready for the upcoming game.

Maya let the side of her face lift in a small smile - she hardly counted as a 'lady', not like Yuki-sama or some of the villagers that wore pretty yukatas on summer days. She snorted - if not for necessity, she would wear the bare minimum all year round. She turned towards Shisei, and pointed half heartedly towards the left side of the goal. "Left, Shisei," she said quietly, though her eyes betrayed her. She lined up her first ball and kicked it clean down the center line, the power behind it absolutely fierce. The ball damn near flew into the net, and Maya wondered if perhaps she wasn't too rough for this sort of game.... Sheepishly, she called out to Shisei, "Careful."

Shisei listened as the girl told him left. It’d take more to fool him. Especially when his amber pupils stayed locked with her golden brown eyes. They didn’t go in the same direction. Instead they stayed at the center. It would be easy to catch then. The snake child would not need to move far to get it from the goal. “Maya-sempai is going to make this easy…”. Yet when that ball came into contact with her foot… it might as well been shot out of a cannon. The sphere zipped through the air like a baseball struck with a bat by an ogre. The snake’s eyes opened wide as ball threatened to decapitate him. His only answer to this was to let his legs do a split and allow the ball to cut the air and three hairs from his violet dreads. He could hear a small pop as the ball hit the back of the net.

“Cor Blimey…. That girl got the power of a bloody mortar. Indeed, there’s no doubt. And I thought she was just a fit bird with some nice abs. I have to be careful around her. If she were to box me ears I’d probably go into a coma. Seriously so.” Brassa said to himself wide eyed. He didn’t know what to say about Shisei’s situation. Sure it was a game, but was she playing to cripple someone? “Uhh Shisei-kun. Don’t get hit by the ball. It’s imperative you don’t seriously.”

“Like he needs to flipping tell me that.” Shisei thought while he arose back to his feet. His eyes were wide and his tongue slowly flickered across his upper lip. His face was almost set in grimace as to what this challenge before him. This may prove to be a work out. As the serpent youth went to retrieve the ball, his mind couldn’t wonder as to why she did not choose Xyn as a partner. “Could it be that he was one step ahead? Did he ask Maya to team up so I could get hurt? If so I’ll have to move quicker and deal with him.”. Turning back with the ball Shisei placed it down in front of him. “Amazing strength Maya-sempai. You must train a lot to get that type of power.” the snake student said his facing now returning to the emotionless expression that he was known best for.

“Remain calm… this should not be such a surprise. I know she is powerful. I’ll just have to be careful.” the snake soothed his own anxiety to remain in his impassive state. It was true she was powerful, but even with all that muscle she lacked in brain power. It was something Shisei could take advantage of. Especially since Xyn was out of the picture. It was time to learn a little about that relationship. In doing that he could hopefully score a goal on her too. Fooling her into which way the soccer ball would go should not be a problem. After all deception was not about tricking another into your way of thinking. It was about manipulating their insecurities till your way became truth. The only truth. Thinking about that statement, Shisei never realized how scheming he had gotten since his time in Shima. No doubt this was a reaction to everything around him.

“Hmm… I think I’ll kick down the center just like you did Maya-sempai. I can tell this will be fun. Although I wonder. How come you did not choose Xyn to be your partner?” Shisei said and at the end of his sentence he kicked the ball, angling it to the right instead of the center. If all went well she wouldn’t be able to reach it in time. Luckily a lot of his power came from the legs so it should reach the net. Knowing why the crow and lioness did not team up could also be fruitful information too.

Xyn couldn't help but turn when he heard his name. Serena was an unexpected friendly face, was she really going to participate? He was starting to wonder how many people were going to show up. And what was that name... Kane? Had he even met anyone by that name before? He had probably come across the person before, but his memory was foggy on the subject. He'd prefer going against someone he actually knew, and Maya...

Xyn definitely didn't want to challenge her, and it seemed the feeling was mutual. He wouldn't know where to begin playing mind games with her, and in his experience, she'd simply need to smile and he'd be thrown off his concentration. Xyn grunted as he turned away from the two of them. Studying Shisei in this situation might be of some benefit, but Maya was sure to win. There was no point in watching a contest when the outcome was set.

"Serena...." Xyn called out bluntly. He wasn't going to let Shisei pick out a partner for him. His eyes weakly closed, he started walking toward her, not really sure how to play this game despite Shinichi's instructions, although he wasn't listening that carefully.

[I would get the crappy rolls....totally going to get you, Kitty Katz! ]

Maya stumbled easily as the answer to Shisei's question nearly fell off her tongue:

'I didn't want to beat him...or lose to him.'

The result was that the response that sent her reeling also made her miss the ball, resulting in Shisei's first goal. A sour smile crossed her face, though she knew that this was going to happen. She had intentionally picked him to see just how smart...or in this case, nosy and much too attentive...the boy was. And he was good... Maya let her smile grow and gave a small nod of acknowledgment - he was definitely the brains portion of this game, she would give him that much.

[[ Katz can you group your totals together? The 5 Tumble [5] thing confuses me. Tumble [10] ? ]]

Maya switched positions with Shisei again, shaking off her thoughts. Dammit ... "Why do you care?" she finalyl answered, and she turned her gaze towards one of the boys that hung around the village. Maya hesitated; she wasn't sure what this one's name was...not that she knew many people by their names anyway. She hadn't even met this so-called udon man in the village, and she just barely knew Prodo. Who else was around that she hadn't known? "Someone you actually care about, Orochi?" she asked nonchalantly, her eyes on the right side of the goal, but her body deftly twisting the other way as she pelted the ball down the field towards the left side of the goal. What was it to Shisei why she didn't pick Xyn, anyway? Maya growled softly, though she watched with quiet eyes as the ball raced towards the boy and towards the net.

Before even another second passed, everyone was scattered about looking for partners already. Everyone except for, Serena. She glanced around, looking for somebody..and then Xyn suddenly called her name. "Um, ok, sure!" She smiled and waved him over to a nearby goalpost. "Here, I'll go first, and you try to block my kick from this goalpost..then we switch..I think thats how the game goes." She explained as she picked up one of the five balls beside her. She positioned herself behind the specified line and set the ball down.

"Alright, here goes!" The Raiken tried to fake a kick to the right, and then aim towards the left, but it was all too fast for two seconds and her first instinct forced her to follow the ball towards the right corner of the net. Maybe next time, it would be best for her to actually think about what she was going to do beforehand..

Xyn wasn't exactly happy with this situation, but there was no point in complaining at this point. He'd give it his best regardless. His arms retreating underneath his cloak, the buttons suddenly unfastened around his neck, his right hand the only thing keeping it from falling to the ground. She agreed to go first... that was as he hoped. He gave a short examination of of the ground before picking a spot to lay the cloak down, then put his focus on Serena. Her movements were extremely awkward, is this what they were suppose to do? He hardly had to move to step into the path of the ball. Maybe she was as unlikely an opponent as he was. That would at least make his lack of ability less apparent. Not wanting to throw himself on the ground, he made a scoop with both of his arms, his left arm going for the ball and his right arm holding his weight. His efforts were sorely in vain as the ball went right through his arms. He looked slightly bewildered as he looked at his arms and at the ball behind him, but he didn't seem to show any displeasure in missing. They were supposed to switch after this, right?

Now he was supposed to kick... but he had to make Serena think he was kicking in a different way then the way he actually was? Xyn didn't really understand the concept. He glanced over at the goal to think for a moment. She'd never expect him to kick straight forward, right? He'd still have to hide the fact that he was doing such a thing...

Xyn was starting to get annoyed. Using such deceptive means just wasn't the proper way to achieve something. If he lost, it would be because he wasn't a good kicker, not because he wasn't able to fool his opponent... even so, Xyn decided to give it a try.

"... I'll just close my eyes." He whispered to himself, not trying to fool the girl, but trying to figure out a proper way to get the ball passed her. He made a wide stride toward the ball, and just before swinging his right leg at it, he opened his eye, not in time to properly aim it, but just enough time to slightly alter the course of the kick if necessary.

It seemed she was partnerless, having walked far too slowly after being distracted by a billion and one things on the walk here. There was so much life in the village this festival day! Everyone from housewives to the fishermen were busy preparing for the dinner or just plain enjoying the festival. She saw kids engaged in all sorts of sports: badminton, hockey, even sledding! Oh, boy! She couldn't wait to see what Ero-sensei had planned for them! Orika kicked up a pile of snow as she trudged to the training grounds in eager excitement, skidding to a stop so fast her legs gave way underneath her. The girl slipped on a patch of white that had yet to melt and hit her head against the ground, knocking the sense out of her for a moment. "Uwah..." Orika moaned, shaking her head of the dripping water. "That hurt!" she whined, then slowly brought a smile to her face. With a laugh, the girl laid back against the icy-cool snow and watched the others play for a while to get the gist of what they were supposed to do. She could ask Shinichi, but he had given her a scary look when she came in for being late. It wasn't that she was afraid of the man; Rather, Orika just didn't want to bother him. Her eyes landed on Maya, whose earth-shattering kicks made the girl's spine tingle with delight. One day, she'd be that strong! But for now... "Baki, wanna play? You can hit the ball with your nose! Come on, it'll be fun." Orika hopped to her feet and skipped over to the great lion. She mockingly bowed to him, then picked up a ball and playfully tossed it to him, testing whether Baki can play ball. Imagine that! Playing soccer with a lion. She was so lucky!

"Maya... he's a li-" the very words were ripped out of his mouth by the eager Orika's willingness to get pummeled to bits by Baki. Shinichi knew the strength behind the beast's bite, so why couldn't that strength transfer over to his soccer abilities? "Eh, why not?" the Kage shrugged, marking the ball with his eyes so that he could disinfect it later. Filthy beasts! But on the outside, Shinichi let none of his disgust show, only giving Baki and Orika a casual nod to get started. They were way behind the other competitors. A vocal tug at his side forced Shinichi's attention towards one of the boys he had rescued yesterday. He was surprisingly polite, more so than expected after a whole morning of listening to the boy's low-based slang. Shinichi scowled and looked like he was about to reprimand the boy, but shook away the urge just in time. "The correct term would be Kage-sama," he said gently, "Please use that whenever you address a jounin. Trust me, we've earned that title. Maybe one day you'll be called -sama by the upcoming generations too." With a smile, Shinichi stepped back to examine the boy's wounds. "Seems you healed nicely enough, but I take it not enough to participate in the sports? How are your friends doing, Brassa?" He could care less whether they were happy or sad; His duty was to ensure that the kid's cohorts were alive, safe, and healthy.

[Sorry about that. I'll group everything together as one sweatdrop . Being nice to lil ol me. You spoil me so much lol.]

Dotted face continued to watch the match between the snake and lioness. He was surprised and impressed that Shisei actually managed to get a goal on the female. “Hehe. Maybe Shisei-kun can pull it off. That he might.” the boy thought. At the same time that idea finished being created the dark golden eye valkryie had set her sights on him. Brassa felt a sting of uncertainty and worry at that point. Was she somehow a telepathic and did not like his mind’s mouth? Worst of all was she going to come up and give him five knuckles?! That would be dreadful. Yet when she only asked about him, the boy let out a sigh and then smiled. “Looking good out there big sis! That you are! Try not to be too hard on Shisei-kun. He’s my chum and he’s an ace in many things, although he kinda flunked some social skills.” the boy shouted to the two. Of course Shisei had some snide remark to make about it in which Brassa would also reply. “What?! Yes we are blooming chums! That we are! Stop being a wanker. Big sis I retract some of my last statement. Rough up Shisei-kun a little! Please do.” he shouted back. The boy was slightly divided in who to cheer for. He was still rooting for Shisei, but who said he’d have to win with ease.

“Seeing what she’s planning is not much of a problem. Stopping her is where the trouble comes in.” the snake pondered. The gold eyes watched the teen’s body as it began to make a decision as to where to hit the goal. The boy did not blink when Maya had asked him a question. His eye did slightly quiver when Brassa shouted out their alliance and his social graces. How dare he? Shisei had some of the politest tendencies. “We are not friends.” his head whipped around his shoulder to tell the gleeful boy. His eyes and face then returned to Maya’s so he could explain the situation. “He’s some weird person that follows me around for some reason. Kind of annoying.”. Freckle face then had his reply ready to shout back. Shisei’s mind once again on the adversary before him. Like her body language suggested the Tategami woman sent the ball like high speed Frisbee to the left end of the goal. Just like last time though her power made the game device a legitimate weapon. By the time the serpent youth dived for the ball, the spherical object was already within the goal.
