...where are memai and popo? :[

this place is sorta dead wow. i'm kinda sorry i only remember it exists every six months or so.

I thought about that...And Soren's gone, I think...

I don't want it to die! The awesomely awesome Who guild I joined is already dead...I don't want to lose another!

I CAN'T TAKE IT!!! crying

...

*ahem*

Man, I'm like... three months late in seeing this. I guess I am gone. razz But yeah, basically after April came around, I only logged in like once a day to check up on things in the guilds where I'm a mod. Gaia's become pretty lame, and the fact that they're even more desperate for money now makes it hard to care. That and the fact that, well, posting on Gaia doesn't exactly make you any smarter. razz Basically you can generalize the entire site as a bunch of opinionated kids who've never stepped outside their comfort zone and you'd be right most of the time.

Oh, and college has been pretty heavy this year because I'm in the jazz band and it's hard to find much to say about Queen anymore. razz

Basically I gotta say... guilds are basically a larger and slightly longer lasting version of more general boards here. Somebody will make a thread, there will be a lot of posts for a little while, but it dies for a day, after which it's revived again, posted in a few more times, and so on and so forth until it finally disappears to the back pages. Since Gaia really is just a bunch of teenagers, you deal with ADD on massive levels. I think guilds with dedicated topics just cannot last. Every guild I've been in has had a single dedicated topic, and they are all soooo dead. Even the more general "Classic Rock" guild is dead, but that was largely because they prided themselves on being more "exclusive" (read: elitist).

@Soren DeGali

"the entire site as a bunch of opinionated kids who've never stepped outside their comfort zone and you'd be right most of the time."

When you say that do you mean it to be a jab at all the idiots who complain about the sponsorships and every little thing Gaia dose that might not be their most wanted feature on the site?

Because thats pretty much the case with the site. People tend to b***h about things which take the fun out sometimes. Also throw in a lack of moderation and more devotion to the cash shop and money making features of the site makes Gaia pretty much standing on its last leg before a sell out to Viacom is coming.

I more meant that part as commentary on the general level of education and knowledge on the site. It's like... I encounter a lot of people who get into one "thing" and never want to expand any further, like say they're really into a single band, a single TV show, what have you. Either that or they just know a little bit of everything popular. It's a comfort zone thing, a womb. And I find hard to enjoy the company of people still kicking their momma's insides. razz

Of course, that's not to say I'm against being into popular things or having a single focused interest, but if they never step outside that, they're being willfully ignorant of millions of things. Luckily, I don't think that's this guild's problem, I'm just applying this to the general Gaia population. On Gaia, you ain't gonna learn much, except how to be cynical.

Hope that makes sense. razz

I imagine that the people who complain about sponsorships and the new features are the types who become used to a certain environment, and fear that the ecosystem will be destroyed by "dumbed down" additions that change the site's target audience to a bunch of idiots. They're the same types who never realize that Gaia's been targeting and profiting off idiots who want to change a few pixels on their computer monitor since day one, and that most likely all of them have bought into it. cool Essentially, they're people who embody pretentiously irrational fears and feel the need to be really loud about it, exactly the same as the people who are self-proclaimed "grammar nazis."

So yeah, bunch of opinionated kids, basically. razz
